She's always been off limits to him. Until now. If it's not the mean girls' relentless bullying at university, it's her obsessive and embittered ex-boyfriend, Bryan, sending her threats around the clock. Now, in the middle of the semester, Harper's father sends his highly-trained best friend, Chris, to look after her and keep a close eye on her safety.
What college girl wants a freaking babysitter?
Chris has known her since she was a child, but while he’s sworn to keep a protective distance, focusing on her security....the chemistry between them is undeniable, and the line between protector and dominant lover begins to blur. Being a wealthy, handsome, and overly-fierce protector, Chris shows Harper that her adulthood comes with new boundaries—and complications.
Will Harper and Chris resist their growing attraction? Or will he show her just how much fun babysitting can be?

Seen the reelshort for this and got too invested so when I seen it was a book I had to read it to see what happens.
I’ll be honest, wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be but did have some cringey moments and the author used “he mimed” “she mimed” way too much could’ve just replaced it with “said” because that kept taking me out of the story.
The MMC does call the FMC “kid” and “kiddo” a good chunk of the book and I wasn’t 100% sure I liked it knowing they were gonna sleep/get together and still don’t know how I feel about it now.
Plot overall was good and like I said I enjoyed in more than I thought I would and tbh bit less cringey than the reelshort. (Tbh they both had their moments for cringeness, but I was loving life with this)
3.5 because honestly what a good lil read!! I binged it and it got me out of a reading slump, I loved the characters and it was actually a really sweet (and a bit anxiety inducing at times hehe) read!!! Chris is the definition of “who did this to you” & I love that for him
Harper, a college art student, is struggling to make her way home one rainy night after getting off at the wrong stop and ending up at a gas station that has closed for the night. Uneasy about the owner of the pick-up who is lingering near the pumps, she resorts to calling her father to collect her. The only problem is that her father is out of town, so he calls his best friend Chris Collins to make sure his daughter gets home safe.
Chris is nearly twice Harpers' age, but after that first night of seeing each other in nearly five years, a spark begins to ignite between the two, but can he really pursue his best friends and business partners daughter? Can he keep a promise to her mother he made ten years ago? Dangerous and handsome, can Harper get him to let down his defences?
This book was a slow burner, but i didn't mind the build-up and the tension between the two main characters and how they played each other. Maria (Harpers best friend) I found absolutely hilarious and could imagine someone acting the way she does in some of the situations they get themselves into. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and it had me hooked.
What to expect ▫️ Dual POV ▫️ Age Gap ▫️ Touch Her and Die ▫️ Father's Best Friend ▫️ Bratty FMC ▫️ Forced Proximity
This book was amazing!!! I laughed, cried and smiled. Harper is an amazing character and Sparks developed her well through the entire book. Chris is a torn soul. He doesn't believe he deserves love to the point of hurting Harper who loves him despite all of his faults. The fact that he can't tell her he loves her but shows her and she knows he loves her is worth some of the tears.
Okay, full disclosure… I got sucked into the Reel Short ‘movie’ version of this story. Then I saw it was also a book in KU so I had to check it out. As usual, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie.
Was this an addicting story? Pretty much. Was it predictable? A tad. Was it well written? Yup. All in all I have no complaints.
If you, like me, saw the tantalizing ReelShort add but didn’t want to pay for the story but it seemed steamy af so you went and found the book on KU let me save you a few hours by letting you know that you have to go 90% to get to anything remotely worthwhile even then it doesn’t last long. At least know I know to not fall for those stupid adds again
Amazing writing. I actually saw the Reelshort video first, then found the book. I wish it could have been a little bit longer, like what ended up happening, did they marry, kids, etc. overall good read.
Harper has been struggling through life lately, struggling to make friends at college, struggling to connect with her father and now struggling to get home. Stuck at the bus stop in the rain Harper has unfortunately caught the eye of a strange man at a near by gas station who is making his unwanted intentions clear, with no other options Harper has to call her dad for help. With her dad out of town he sends his business partner, best friend and ex solider Chris Collins. Chris hasn't seen Harper in five years and is shocked to see the beautiful woman standing in front of him when he arrives just in time to stop the slime ball advancing on her.
Days later Harper's dad decides that she needs live in protection when outside threats are aimed at her. The only person trusted enough for this job is none other than Chris Collins. Reluctantly Chris agrees to move in with Harper until her father returns. With the two in such close quarters attractions become undeniable, Harper is doing everything in her power to seduce Chris, to make him drop his guard and give into what they are feeling. Chris made a promise years ago to protect and keep Harper safe, he is trying his best to stay true to his word, to resist temptation and stay a man of his word, but damn Harper is making it hard
Ok so i like most of you, saw these trailers on Reels, intrigued but never watched the whole thing. When i saw this book it didn't click it was the same as the trailer until i read the MMC name. The book was surprisingly good. It wasn't as corny as parts of the "movie". It was a good age gap, dads best friend, forced proximity, touch her & die, Daddy/brat.
I stumbled across How to Tame a Silver Fox in the Kindle app and figured, screw it. It’s definitely not one of my typical reads, but honestly I enjoyed it. The plot was pretty good, but the spice was pretty tame. Honestly, it was a lot of pent up sexual tension, but not a lot of actual action.
I think one of my biggest issues with How to Tame a Silver Fox is that the main male character Chris, who was in his 40s, acted like a guy in his 20s. It wasn’t that big of a problem, but it definitely threw me off a little. There were a few darker plot twist that I didn’t expect at all and it definitely caught me off guard. Not sure if it was necessary for the book, but it made things get a bit crazy.
All in all, I did enjoy this book. It was a quick and easy read. Before reading this book, please check out the trigger warning. There are some dark and graphic moments that can definitely be upsetting.
Don't understand some of the ratings and remarks for this book because it had me gripped from the first page! Must be from people who didn't watch or enjoy the Reelshort?! But I loved them both. The author did a great job of bringing Chris and Harper to life. The intimate scenes weren't BDSM (which suits me just fine), so if that's what you are after, you are better off buying a different book. But if you want a great story and fleshing out of the characters from the hit movie then this book is for you.
It's made me like Chris Collins even more because he's a bit too much of a d*ck in the movie, Haha. She also gives him a strong moral character. In the book, we at least see how he ended up being so angry with the world. Won't spoil it by explaining, but you need to read the book if you enjoyed the movie. 10/10 from me. Perfect way to spend an Easter weekend. :)
I’m not sure if I enjoyed the Reel Short more or the book more but both were very good. Harper is in her final year of college and she ends up in trouble one night. She’s saved by her father’s best friend, Chris who she hasn’t seen in five years. Without even trying Harper discovers she’s very attracted to him despite the age difference. Chris hasn’t seen Harper in a few years but even he cannot deny the instant attraction. However, before her mother died he made a promise that he would protect Harper and that means from himself as well, so he’s determined to keep his distance from her. When Chris becomes Harpers unofficial bodyguard and moves in, things get tense between them. Harper keeps trying to hit on Chris and he keeps pushing her away. Even when he try’s to teach her self defense things get hot and heavy. Eventually Chris breaks and after saving Harper from her ex-boyfriend he takes her to bed. In my opinion the worst part was having to talk to Harpers dad. That was awkward.

I actually found this novel because it was Bestseller in BDSM on Amazon. Okay. Don't judge me. Hehe. It was so not BDSM, but I was surprised how much it drew me into the pages. The ending is so beautiful.
After I finished reading the book, I headed over to the Reelshort website and watched the movie. Can't believe it's had 125 MILLION VIEWS! It's so unbelievably lame and the acting is awful. This book is classed as an 'adaptation' of that awful movie, so I think the author needs a medal for creating 'this' from... 'that'. Just bought Sophie Sparks's other books on Amazon. That's my reading sorted now for a month. Hehe. Loved it.
Oh my! This was just the kind of book I've been wanting to read for ages. Unluckily for me, I watched the Reelshort movie after finishing this... Just... don't. Hehe. I loved this story from the opening page. Harper annoyed me at first, but when I realised she was acting this way because her mom died, it added so much depth to her character. And Chris Collins (**wiping sweat from my brow). He might have just knocked off Declan from my 'favourite ever male character' top spot. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Thumbs up from me.
We’re here for the vibes, okay? Was it a literary masterpiece? No. (The overuse of “he/she mimed” about did me in, but I don’t even care). Was I sucked in and read the entire thing in 5 hours? Yes. If you’re like me and your algorithm shows you the dramatic, terrible acting reel shorts, this book is for you! So dang glad I found this after seeing clips of the reel short on fb. I HAD to know this story. 10/10 recommend.
Kept seeing the reelshort ads for this so decided to read it. It's way less spicy than the ads would have you believe, like I'm talking there was about 3 pages of spice. Also what 40 year old looks as grey as that dude on the cover?! It wasn't amazingly written but was a really easy read, although the author kept using "mimed" in like every scenario which just sounded horrifying and all I could imagine was the sound of lips smacking. Enjoyable but not life changing
I want in with low expectations, which is why this was a decent read. I knew I wasn’t going to be getting a literary masterpiece. However I will say some of the writing needs WORK. Does the author realize “mime” means acting things out without WORDS…? There was typos, grammar issues, and other minor offenses that drove me nuts.
So I thought I would really like this book but unfortunately I did not I thought that our main female character was annoying and immature. and some of her decisions made no sense. and our main male character was supposed to be broody and grumpy and mysterious. but he was just annoying and stupid all in all not a good book 2 stars.⭐️⭐️
This was a knock off of twisted love and Ana haung does it much better.
Read it because I didn’t want to think the story line was stupid the spice was poorly written. But it did in fact make me not think and I read it in about 6 hours so was at very least a distraction from house chores.
Well played Facebook, well played. You sucked me in with one of your reels. This book was a lunchbag letdown though. S*xual tension.... 5/5 but where was the spice??? I came here for the spice and kept flipping pages waiting for it to come no pun intended). The Facebook reel seemed spicier than the book!
This story is entertaining enough but definitely not one I'd recommend.
Having watched the Reelshort, I wasn't expecting the book to be as good. But boy was I wrong. Me and my partner both read this and we both LOVED it! If you enjoyed the hit movie, you'll enjoy getting to know the characters in more depth. 10/10 from me.
Wow. This story had me hooked from the first page. If you enjoyed the Reelshort, you'll enjoy this. The way Chris comes to life in his love for Harper is so swooooooon. Stayed awake all night because I couldn't stop reading, lol. Hoping there's a sequel because I NEED more Chris Collins.
the short video from FB tricked me. thought it was going to be so good; not spicy or exciting at all and nothing really happens imo. almost dnf but wanted to give it a chance. wish I got my hours back.
ratings have gotta be fake. feel for the stupid add, decided to read the book. wasn’t great but i’ve read worse. was recommended Twisted Love by Ana Huang and How to Tame a Silver Fox literally word for word copies it at some points. it’s like the Dollar Tree version of Twisted Love. humiliating and not worth the read.
Was this a very cheesy book with lots of drama. Yes. Did I feel like it was not as good as other books that are on my tbr. Yes. Did I finish it anyway because I can’t dnf a book ever just in case they get good. Absolutely.
I watched the ReelShort and when I found out that it was a book I had to read it. I LOVED the book. It had all the scenes from the ReelShort plus more. It also had more explanations to things that made the story better.
