She’s a cottagecore witch student. He’s a demon chemistry professor who likes to bake. Will their forbidden romance bloom into an attraction of magical chemistry?
Grace Crow has been obsessed with mushrooms since she can remember. The bisexual witch college student would much rather enjoy a tea party with her familiars in her greenhouse than sit through another semester of organic chemistry. Too bad her hot demon professor teaches the only class that’s preventing her from graduating.
Krim Ravenblood works as a chemistry professor at Midhaven University by day. At night, he runs Shadow Daddy’s bar and nightclub. Rather than serving spirits, he wants to indulge in his favorite hobby—baking. Instead of spending his free time spoiling his ghost cat, he’s planning to flip his bar and transform the space into a magical bakery.
When Grace learns about the forbidden magic rumored to sprout out of her mother’s baking recipes, she gets a wild idea. Why not convince Ravenblood to let her pass his chemistry class by working at his bakery? The witch and the demon soon learn that magical chemistry is not something they can ignore. Will his haunting past destroy their attraction, or will they embrace their blooming romance before dark forces steal it away?
Amanda writes fantasy and paranormal romance. You can find her in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where she is blazing a trail, drumming with her local taiko group, or having a flamboyant conversation with her two cats. She works as both a park interpreter and a children’s library associate at her local library, where she shares her imagination and creative programs with her community.
Super grateful to have been selected to receive an ARC copy. I was really curious about the concept. I was excited to start reading.
Here are my semi-jumbled thoughts.
Could use some more editing. There were some sentences that didn’t make sense, words that didn’t belong, and things along those lines. It happens. But it could definitely use another look through to make sure those are corrected.
The magic system doesn’t feel very cohesive for me, neither Grace’s nor Ravenblood’s. I may just chock it up to me just being dumb. But many times, I had to stop and wonder what was actually going on and what it had to do with anything. Like the tea bags when they finally started baking, Why did she hide it from Ravenblood that she added it to dough?
It feels like scenes and moments are sped run through. Like things will happen that don’t really make any sense, or there’s no elaboration/enough detail in certain scenes. Like when Ravenblood first visits Grace’s house/greenhouse. She invites him into the house, does nothing, then immediately turns around and leaves again. Maybe he could have just happened to peek in when looking for her instead? If the point was for him to see inside her tiny house. Another example is when he is at the laundromat; she bounces in, has a semi-pointless conversation with him, then immediately leaves again. It all happens in like five seconds. Scenes felt like whiplash, they didn’t flow as well as they could have.
I’m not really feeling any chemistry between Ravensblood and Grace. It actually feels sort of forced. Sunshine/grumpy trope is fine. But it didn’t really feel like there was any tension built up, their attraction seemed random and sudden. And also, he’s so into her (suddenly) but still entertains Marsha. When he and Grace start getting busy in the bakery, she goes immediately into wanting his reaper/shadows involved? Why? I feel like this would have been a good time to just explore each other without other elements involved. It seemed…out of the blue that she wanted the shadows involved right off the bat. And then just as suddenly she’s saying doing it with him goes against the basic cottagecore witch principles, freaks out, and leaves. The switch up is very jarring when the hooking up seemed so at odds in the first place. Very serious thing will be happening and that makes them want to have sex? I feel like all the crazy, scary events are not the types of things that would put me in the mood.
There’s no real explanation of what baking means to Ravensblood. It’s fine to not want to deal with drunks and stuff anymore. But why is baking so important to him? Did I miss it? He seems very nonchalant about it.
I understand it is probably accurate for the internal monologue of someone struggling with their body, but I didn’t really like how many different ways he was described as having gained weight/ how many times it was pointed out. And really if he actually cared that much, he might actively do something to change it? Or go into a business that didn’t revolve around the sweets that allegedly made him fat? I don’t know, just thoughts.
In summary, the story was okay. I unfortunately didn't love it. The cover is cute but nothing about him gives me "demon vibes". He just looks like a regular joe. Grace is cute though.
I was honored to read this ARC!!! These thoughts and feelings are my own.
This book has cozy cottagecore vibes, mushrooms, witches, demons, an adorable ghost cat and sassy familiars. The ultimate recipe (lol because there is baking) for the perfect book. Seriously this was an absolutely adorable story about a green witch and a reaper demon learning how to grow and love themselves as well as each other. All while battling wild magical mushrooms, intrusive but lovable family and opening a bar turned bakery together.
I loved Grace and Krim together. I think they were the perfect combination of grumpy/sunshine. I also really enjoyed the take on Persephone and Hades you get as well. I couldn't put it down and it put me in the mood for fall (even though it's got those spring vibes going). I cannot wait to read book #3!!!
This is book #2 in the Witches and Demons Series.
Book one is called A Demon's book of Shadows (which is about Grace's sister Lucy and Krim's Brother Amon).

Absolutely grateful for receiving an ARC copy from the author. My review is based on my own thoughts and opinions. I will try to stay away from spoilers.
This is a dual pov about a Cottagecore Witch and her College Professor. I will say that while I did read the first book (A Demon's Book of Shadows), I do believe that this book could be read as a standalone. Reading the first book will give you extra context.
The spice is on point, and I really enjoyed the characters and their journey. I was binge-reading the last half of the book in two days because I wanted to see how it would end! There were plot twists, dramatic reveals, and the side characters are just perfection! Grace's familiars do voice their opinions, and they are hilarious! Also, PSA, the name of the bar Krim has also works for his nickname because he is a Shadow Daddy!
Need a witchy cozy summerween book?! Look no further! This book has the cozy vibes that you want during the fall but with a spring summer vibe. The chemistry between the two main characters was absolutely outstanding. This faced paced book is a great weekend read when you just need that feeling of Halloween. I was able to fly through the last 60% of the book in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down!
It has bisexual representation, demon daddies, lovable familiars, spice and mushrooms spirits! Honestly what else do you need in a witchy summerween book?! I had an absolute blast reading it!
I want to thank the author for the arc, I do appreciate it.
I sadly couldn’t get into this, I like the premise of it but I was very confused while reading. There was just a lot going on and not a lot of explanation for some of the things going on. Also, Ravenblood and Grace’s relationship was very confusing. I’m okay with insta love, but there was no buildup or hint of anything between the characters. It just didn’t make sense for the sudden interest in each other.
A Witch's Forbidden Bloom by Amanda Casey is a cozy fantasy romance novel. Full of interesting magic systems and cozy feelings.
I had a fun time reading this book and ultimately gave it 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. However, I had a hard time getting into it, mainly because it seemed like it started in the middle and didn’t give us a lot of background and info on the magic and how it works. I then realized this was a second in the series that seemed to be a standalone, but I think you need to read the first book before this one.
With all of that being said, I did have a great time reading this book. It was cute, a little silly, and I loved the magic. The mushrooms are growing wild, their hair is changing, and Grace and Krim are constantly pulled towards one another. Grace is a witch and a Chemistry student of Krim’s, a local university professor who is also a hot demon. When struggling to pass his class, Grace decides to convince him to pass her by working in the bakery he’s trying to open, and by hopping by using her magical chemistry, she can pass.
Overall, this book was a good time, and I would recommend it if you are looking for a cozy witchy read this spooky season with a little twist!
Tropes: 🧹She's a bisexual witch student 😈He's a grim reaper demon professor 🏔She's the outdoorsy type 📚He's an academic 🍄She loves mushrooms 🕸He's terrified of spiders 👻She owns a haunted greenhouse 🍸He's flipping his bar and turning it into a bakery 🧁He likes to bake spicy treats Bonus: He also owns a ghost 🐈 named Scythe

Book Review: A Witches Forbidden Bloom by Amanda Casey
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
"A Witches Forbidden Bloom" is a delightful addition to Amanda Casey's enchanting series, blending cozy witchcraft with an intriguing romance that feels both fresh and familiar. This novel follows Grace, a lovable green witch, who is struggling in her chemistry class, a conflict made all the more complex by her unexpected feelings for her demon professor, Krim.
Casey expertly crafts a world where the supernatural and the everyday coexist, allowing readers to immerse themselves in a vibrant spring setting that enhances the story's cozy vibes. The chemistry (pun intended) between Grace and Krim is palpable, with their interactions offering both humor and heartfelt moments. As they navigate the challenges of academia and their growing attraction, readers can’t help but root for their unconventional romance.
What truly elevates this book is how it seamlessly connects to the previous installment featuring Lucy and Amon. It expands the series' overarching narrative while creating a stand-alone experience for readers new to Casey’s work. The spring atmosphere is beautifully evoked, making it the perfect read for those who want to feel a sense of renewal and romance.
Overall, "A Witches Forbidden Blooms" is a charming tale that will leave you with a warm heart and a yearning for more. Amanda Casey continues to enchant with her ability to weave together cozy elements and romantic tension, making this book a must-read for fans of the genre. Whether you’re a returning reader or new to the series, this installment certainly delivers on every front.
I thoughly enjoyed this book is recieved it yesterday and finished it tonight it was brilliant I adored all.the characters especially the main one and the name.of the shop change is so super cute 😍 and the book itself is another triumph for Amanda Casey xx
✨️ARC✨️ This book is the ultimate cozy fall read, even though it takes place in the spring!
Grace, a bi green witch with a passion for mushrooms, dreams of nurturing her magical greenhouse, which is brimming with familiars and often her best friend/sometimes lover, Hazel. However, before she can dive into her green thumb adventures, she must first conquer college, and the only obstacle in her path is her struggle to pass a single class. Despite her numerous attempts, she has faced failure time and again. Krim, the demon professor of the very class Grace can't seem to pass, is also a bar owner and aspiring baker. He has an adorable ghost cat for whom he whips up delightful little snacks and a fascinating reaper who I wish had more page time. All he desires is to leave behind teaching and bartending to pursue his dream of opening a bakery filled with scrumptious treats. After a little 'mishap,' Grace persuades Krim to let her assist him in his bakery using her mother's secret magical recipes, hoping to pass his class in the process. I absolutely adored the chemistry between Krim and Grace! Watching their love and Grace bloom was such a joy. I do wish the story was longer... but I am definitely a thicc book girly! My favorite characters will always include the familiars: Tea and snail demanding Goblin, Beatrice, Wingless, the ever-gossipy Ruby, Scythe, the water droplet-flinging spiders, and of course, the return of Grubs... cue the excited screams!!! I truly enjoy how magic operates in this world; both demon and witch powers are incredibly fun and captivating. The reveal of the bakery's name was so heartwarming! I can't wait for the next book and to see what unfolds with Eugene and Cindy when their story hopefully comes along. If you've read the first book, it's pretty clear early on who the 'bad guys' are. I hope the dynamics shift a bit in the upcoming installments. Spoiler alert... I had to read this book twice because I thought I had imagined it the first time! What on earth is happening with Lucy and Amon? Their story ended on such a happy note, yet this book begins with them content, only to have things take a turn? What is going on???
Thank you, Amanda Casey and BookFunnel, for the chance to read this book early!!!!

Amanda delivers yet again with A Witch's Forbidden Bloom, the second installment in her enthralling Witches & Demons series. Like its predecessor, this book captivates with deep, relatable characters, rich world-building, and tantalizingly spicy scenes, notably featuring Krim Ravenblood's demon shadow, whose hunger adds a thrilling layer of intensity to the romance.
Grace Crow, the charming cottagecore witch student, continues to steal hearts. Her passion for mushrooms and preference for cozy tea parties with her familiars over tedious classes makes her relatable and endearing. Set against the backdrop of Midhaven University, the stakes are high as she struggles with chemistry, taught by none other than the alluring demon professor, Krim Ravenblood. Their dynamic is electric, with Krim's unexpected love for baking adding a whimsical touch to their otherwise forbidden romance.
The banter between Grace and Krim is delightful, and as they navigate the complexities of their burgeoning relationship, the themes of magical chemistry shine through. Amanda expertly weaves in the backstory and characters from the first book, making it clear that reading A Demon’s book of shadows first enriches the experience of this sequel.
The pacing is spot-on, offering a balanced mix of cozy moments, spellbinding magical elements, and steamy interactions that keep readers turning the pages. The added bonus material teasing Victoria’s upcoming story left me eager for what’s next.
With the cozy witchy season approaching, A Witch's Forbidden Bloom is a must-read for fans of enchanting romances and magical adventures. Grab your copy and indulge in the spellbinding world Amanda has created—you won’t regret it!

A cosy, warm hug of romance with some seriously sizzling smexy times!
Grace is our sunshiney, green thumbed witch who is struggling with her Chemistry classes at Uni. She's a botanist and a witch - what does she need to pass chemistry for? She also in an open relationship with her bestie Hazel, who seems to be having some girlfriend problems of her own.
Krim is Grace's Chemistry Professor and the brother of her sisters partner. He's a demon with some emotional baggage of his own and he'd much rather be baking than teaching it would appear. He's just got to complete the renovation to turn his bar into a bakery first. But this tempting morsel of witchkind keeps crossing his path and messing with his plans!
I really enjoyed this world, one where modern Earth coexists with magical beings. Set in a inclusive small town, the MC's are surrounded by family and familiars, who all play a part in driving out MC's around the bend on occasion. I really enjoyed Grace's family dynamics and Krim and his brothers too, although on occasion I did want to strangle Z! The subplot of Eugene's alcoholism and Krim's neglect of his mental health were great additions. I love a character with some flaws and emotional baggage!
Although this is the 2nd book in the series, you can easily read this as a standalone, book 1 will however give you more context and information about the relationships/families. I was overall happy with the storyline and pacing, but I would have loved a bite more development of the relationship of Grace and Krim, they did kind of go from 0-100.
I was so excited when I found out that this was coming out as I also read A Demon's Book of Shadows. I love that you could totally read this without reading that and it would be fine but reading both just gives you even more context and fun.
This book was a fun, cozy fall read while also being spicy. I loved the cottagecore vibes, the familiars, and the family dynamics. Bisexual rep? soo here for that. And I loved the forbidden romance between the student and professor, it lent to that dash of spice perfectly.
The bit of world-building continued from A Demon's Book of Shadows and I thought it was the perfect amount. the books give you some world-building without being overwhelming and it is mixed into the storyline instead of feeling a little to separated.
the characters are all so quirky and loveable. whether demon, witch, or familiar, they had such human emotions (except of course for our bad guys), and that led to such a fun cast.
my only real complaint is the sex talk. at first, it seemed like playful banter and it had me cracking up. but then the nicknames and such continued past the fun playful banter, and it just felt a little cringey. if it had just stayed as the playful banter and not during the sex, it would have been perfect.
overall, I loved the book and I cannot wait for the next one!
A Witch’s Forbidden Bloom is the perfect blend of cozy cottagecore vibes, laugh-out-loud moments, and sizzling forbidden romance. From page one, I was enchanted by Grace—our mushroom-obsessed, bisexual witch who’d rather throw tea parties in her greenhouse than survive another dreaded chemistry class. Enter Krim Ravenblood: a hot demon professor with a secret soft spot for baking and the kind of broody past that makes you swoon even harder.
What I loved most was the way Amanda Casey wove together everyday magic (greenhouses, familiars, baking) with the spark of real chemistry—both in the classroom and between Grace and Ravenblood. Their banter is sharp, their attraction undeniable, and every scene had me rooting for them despite the rules stacked against them. The touches of humor (a ghost cat named after Shadow Daddy’s bar? Genius!) balanced so well with the more emotional, heartfelt moments.
This story has it all: a forbidden student-professor romance, magical baking recipes that feel whimsical and dangerous all at once, and a couple whose dynamic is as tender as it is fiery. By the end, I was grinning, blushing, and already craving book two. If you’re looking for a cozy, witchy romance with just the right amount of spice and heart, A Witch’s Forbidden Bloom will sweep you off your feet.
This is a cute and cozy read. Perfect for any time of the year, but really makes me want to be able to curl up under a blanket in a chair outside with a hot cup of tea or hot apple cider. Even the nicknames they gave each other- little mushroom and grumpy grim were adorable. Grumpy sunshine definitely describes this book.
Grace Crow is a green cottage core witch, who is trying to pass organic chemistry so she can graduate college. Krim Ravenwood is the grumpy professor who teaches organic chemistry, and has failed Grace multiple times.
Krim plans to turn his bar into a bakery. Grace decides that despite not being able to bake, helping him will be the reason she passes the class. Is this a recipe for disaster, or will the close proximity plant seeds for love?
I loved the entire story, though I wish there had been a bit more after the main issues were resolved. It felt like we could have gotten a bit more following the resolution, though that feeling could be that I enjoyed the book so much that I just didn’t want it to be over.
There were a few spicy scenes sprinkled well through the book, though the first took me a bit by surprise- in a good way. This is an open door romance with detailed scenes, but the scenes are not the primary focus of the book. Overall, a very good read.
I have to start by saying this was my first read by this author, so I went in blind. I knew it was a cottagecore rom-con, so I wasn't sure at first. I was definitely down to give it a shot through and dove right in… and I'm glad I did! I went in with absolutely no expectations… turns out, there was some delicious spice in this story and I'm so here for it!
Overall, this was a very fun, cute, and spicy read. If you like witches and demons, then this book is for you. From a relationship that shouldn't happen to relationships/friendships building. At every chapter, this story takes a turn. I was sucked into this book and couldn't put it down. I ended up reading until at least 3am.
I will definitely be sticking around for the rest. I want to know what happens with these characters since I feel like it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.
Bottomline: Its a fast amazing read. You wont regret reading this. Do make sure to read your trigger/content warnings.
Tropes/Genre/Triggers:

* I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. *
My review: 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️rounded to 4 because I loved the characters and magic system. So grateful to the author for my eARC!
What I loved:
-The Crow Family - their connection to their mother and each other infused with witchy traditions and tidbits was one of my favorite parts of this novel!
-The development of Grace’s magic - surprised me and I really enjoyed her familiars’ unique roles and voices.
What I wanted more from:
-There were some copy editing errors within the text
-At times there were scenes within the main plot development or romantic subplot development that were sweet or cute but seemed to come out of nowhere (laundromat scene)
-Felt like the relationships between the Ravenblood family could have been expanded on more / sub conflict that slightly involved Krim Ravenblood, his brother Amon, and Lucy
Overall: Thought this was a very sweet, lighthearted, and witchy romp with deeper undertones & issues addressed. If you enjoy cozy contemporary fantasy with strong family bonds, cute familiars, and a romance involving shadow magic and slight nods to the Hades / Persephone trope, this book may be for you!
**this review was provided without incentive by the author**
🍄🍄🦔A beautiful green witch with a love for mushrooms that need to pass chemistry to finish college, the chemistry professor shadowdaddy with a passion for baking that is transforming his bar into a bakery and multiple adorable familiars from a skeletal ghost cat that loves bitty bone treats to a green hedgehog with a love for tea with snails to multiple insects with big attitudes. This story was a wonderful second book in the series. You would not necessarily have to read the first book but it is easier to follow the storyline with more of the backstory. This is a cozy fantasy that follows a trio of sisters that are witches and a trio brothers that are demons. This story has moderate amount of spice and overall flows well. There were a couple jump around scenes that felt slightly rushed but overall I thought the story wrapped up all the elements. The author has a skill for painting the scene and transporting you into the story. Seriously, I want a ghost skeleton cat. It was a fun and intriguing story that kept me turning the pages. I am excited for the next book to follow the last sister. Thank you for the opportunity for an eARC. 🦔🍄🍄
A Witch's Forbidden Bloom by Amanda Casey is a dual POV between Grace Crow, a green witch obsessed with mushrooms, who is just trying to graduate college, and Krim Ravensblood, her demon chemistry professor who is the only thing holding her back.
Grace has the idea that helping out Ravensblood in his mission to renovate his century old bar into a new and improved bakery will allow her a better chance at finally passing chemistry. Because what's the difference between mixing chemicals and mixing ingredients?
As spring blooms, so does a forbidden romance between professor and student. Ravensblood's past comes back to haunt him, and Grace is pulled into a struggle between shadows and mushrooms.
I enjoyed this book, it was cute. While Grace is struggling to figure out her magic, it helps her to grow in other areas, including maturity. Ravensblood's inexplicable magnetism to her only aids in her search. I do feel like some aspects were rushed, mainly how the conflicts are resolved. It happened too quickly, without much effort.
- Grumpy/sunshine - Forbidden romance - Age gap - Shadow daddy - Unique magical world - Cottagecore
After Amon's story, I KNEW I needed more of these Ravenblood brothers. This is the story of Krim, a shadow d3m0n and Grace, a quirky and flighty cottagecore witch.
I adore the magical worlds that Amanda creates, especially the adorable familiars (Goblin is absolutely fantastic!). The magical world is a bit complex, involving 3 main elements. I was intrigued by the concept and can't wait to learn more about it.
Although Ravenblood is a college professor (which is where he met Grace), his true passion is to open his own bakery. He is going to convert his current b@r into a bakery and hopes to do that full time. I would love to learn more about how he came to love baking because I think that would be interesting.
Grace is a free spirit, but some of her actions were a bit questionable. I mean, girl, just study.
Once Ravenblood and Grace truly SEE one another, the chemistry is hawt! Oh, and the Reaper? Oh, my yes.
🍄 This was a cozy little book that I really enjoyed reading! Perfect for the fall season, even the story is set in spring. A Witch's Forbidden Bloom feels like a kind of Alice in Wonderland meets Practical Magic and something a bit darker.
🍄 I loved the dual POV and the dynamic between Grace and Krim. Professor/Student is my favorite trope EVER and it did not disappoint here even though I would have expected a bit more angst. The mutual pining is still very sweet. Also, it was really refreshing to have a male character who used to be in shape but indulged into baked goods and has now a very cute dad-bod.
🍄 One of my favorite things about this book was : the familiars 🐈⬛🐞🕷️🦔🦇 They are all absolutely hilarious and adorable.
🍄 And also, a demon shadow daddy who bakes and who is head over heels for an innocent little green witch? YES PLEASE! What's not to love?
🍄🦔 A Witch's Forbidden Bloom is book 2 in the Witches and Demons series by Amanda Casey but it can be read as a standalone.
First off I want to say thank you to Amanda Casey for allowing me to be an ARC reading for A Witch's Forbidden Bloom. These are my own thoughts and opinions.
I rated this book 5 stars because it gave me everything I was looking for and expecting from it and I absolutely devoured it. I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out in this series. This book follows Grace Crow, she is a Bi-Sexual green witch which means that she loves nature and plants. It also follows Krim Ravenblood who is her demon professor. If that doesn't spell out for a forbidden romance I'm not sure what will. Grace loves mushrooms and I never once thought that hearing someone be called "my little mushroom" would be soooo steamy but it was. Also this is kind of a slow burn to start but let me tell you once the romance and spice start, oh my its very spicy in the best ways. I don't want to give too much away because that's just not cool. But I do need to say there is a Ghost cat!! Who can resist a Ghost cat? I know I cant!
Wow, what a book! Demons, witches, familiars and even a ghost cat! This book was a 5/5 star read. This book was set in spring/summer but it made me crave the taste of fall and Halloween! This author did such a great job with the writing. I loved all of the familiars(mostly Goblin!!) I loved how the author showed Grace’s family but especially her mother and her magic. I have never read anything like this. I loved that the author wasn’t shy about writing the magic in this book. It took me on a wild ride and I was so intrigued by all of it. I loved reading about Grace’s magic and what she could do. She was fearless and such a strong FMC! I think Grace is a perfect representation of what Witches in 2025 would be like! Also, a sexy demon professor that bakes?? Sign me up! It had forbidden romance, grumpy/sunshine, and pretty good spice!!

This book had me HOOKED! Witches, demons, cottage core vibes, mushrooms, and familiars!
Grace is a green witch who is trying to understand her magic and make a life for herself. She has many familiars that range from all types of animals and whoa their personalities are BIG!
Krim Ravensblood is a reaper demon who teaches chemistry while renovating his bar into a bakery. He has the cutest ghost kitty familiar Scythe! Of course you can’t forget about his shadow who also partakes in certain activities ;)
This book is a whirlwind of magic, romance, baking, and conflicts!
Although this book takes place in the spring/summer I definitely recommend to read it in the fall as it gives that cozy fall vibe!
Tropes:
GrumpyXSunshine Professor/Student

Story is dual POV starting with Grace Crow, a witch, who can't seem to pass her Chemistry class, the one class preventing her from graduating. Next is Krim Ravensblood, a reaper demon, bar owner with plans to renovate to a bakery, Chemistry professor.
A lot of enjoyable characters especially the familiars Scythe and Goblin. The mix of a mushroom loving witch and a bar owning professor turn baker is such a cute idea. As Krim is grading tests, without seeing the name he can identify Grace's test, by the mushroom doodles for answers. How can that not make you smile.
Only con is some of the weight comments and banter was a tad much for me.
Even though it is Spring in the book, this feels like a cozy, autumn read.
I received an e book ARC and voluntarily leave this review.
I received this book as an ARC and am so happy I did. Amanda Casey did a fantastic job developing the characters and the plot. I felt like it was an easy read and didn't want to put it down.
The chemistry between Grace and Ravenblood is chef's kiss, and the spicy scenes are even better. I enjoyed seeing the growth from a professor/student relationship (where she wasn't a big fan of him) to friends and then romantic. If you read A Demon's Book of Shadows, there are plenty of familiar faces, including the other Crow sisters and their mom, Cindy, as well as Ravenblood's brothers, Amon and Zed, and his father Eugene, and their storylines flow smoothly from ADBOS to AWFB.
I cannot wait until Victoria's book is released to see how they all come together in the end!
An adorable grumpy meets sunshine couple. This amazing novel will have you under the spell of giggles before the first chapter is done. Amanda has done it again with yet another fabulous story of opposites attracting. The determination of a student passing a class despite the fascination with mushrooms, and the professor secretly smiles at her quirkiness while wishing she would pass his class as well. The nicknames they come up with for each other are just absolutely fitting and adorable, as Mr. Professor's attempts to downplay his protectiveness over Grace.
The mishaps and adventures that make you want to both hug and shake these two alone are worth the read. I couldn't stop the moment I started, as it sucked me in the moment I read the first paragraph.
Okay so this is the second book in the series of Witches and Demons but how could i resist the pull of our resident shadow daddy also her professor oh i forgot he is a baker and its his passion ( this is important. He also has a skeletal ghost cat familiar which is so want even though it's a greedy little thing. We have Grace our adorable lovable pure flower child with her multiple familiars a hedgehog with a love for tea with snails and sneaky bugs who love to gossip.
She needs to pass his class so she can graduate, however though she has taken it a few times she can't do it. So to his bakery she goes to prove she can do it.
This is a standalone but personally i would read the first book as it helps bridge gaps and your knowledge of the world.
Thanks to Amanda Casey for providing an e-ARC. I enjoyed how wacky this book was, but it had way too much going on. It felt like there were too many tropes being used and weird details kept getting introduced. It was definitely a lot spicier than I anticipated based on the cover. I think the plot could use some simplification and there seemed to be some issues with continuity. I liked the animal (familiars) characters, especially Scythe and Goblin.
There was way too much use of the word toe beans. Also, talking beans? Struggled with the discussions of body image, as it came off as fat-phobic.
I really wanted to love this. Unfortunately, this book is all over the place and it makes following the story-line difficult to follow. The spice was there, the characters are interesting, and I loved the familiars. A big downside to me (warning to those that are triggered by comments regarding weight) this book has entirely too many comments on the male main characters weight-gain, along with several comments regarding the FMC’s sisters weight. Those comments made it hard for me to finish this book. I am glad I pushed through, but the weight comments and overall chaos are causing me to give A Witch’s Forbidden Bloom only three stars.
this was the perfect cozy fall read with added spice. this story follows Grace a green witch obsessed with mushrooms( like who isnt) just trying to graduate and he demon chemistry professor Krim Ravensblood the only thing standing in the way of it. she offers to help him in hopes that he passes her in chemistry. this had cottage core vibes, bi representation( like totally amazing) forbidden romance and familiars. there isnt anything missing from this book. i read it in one sitting it was so good. if you are looking for all those cozy fall vibes with spice, witches, a demon baker, a cute ghost cat than this is the book for you. i highly recommend it .
