Kadrixan Mates #5

A Monster's Light

Rate this book
Two years ago, my best friend vanished without a trace, and I’ve been looking for her ever since. The terrifying alien warrior before me holds the key to finding her, but I’ll have to give up everything I’ve ever known to help him break out of a high-security prison.

And there’s a catch. It’s spring, and everyone knows the fearsome alien warriors turn into mindless beasts when their rutting season hits.

As we make our daring escape through the wilds of Vokira, dodging every murder bot and robohound our enemies throw our way, I start seeing the brave and hyper-protective Kadrixan in a very different light. It’s too late by the time I realize the biggest danger isn’t to my body but to my heart.

What will happen to us when the rut is over? Will Gnnar return to looking for his fated mate and leave me forever? And will we even make it back to his stronghold alive?

A Monster’s Light is a sci-fi alien romance with a growly hero, lots of action, and an HEA, guaranteed. This series has dystopian themes. Best enjoyed as part of a series.

It was fine. The romance was meh and the sex was fine. Plus the plot was a little jumpy and made it hard to follow. I had a hard time picturing the colony and the stronghold and where the soldiers can from and how the shield system was set up, so it took me out of it a bit.

Alien. Monster (demon appearing alien). Wings/tail/horns. She rescues him then he rescues her. Language barrier. Rutting season. Lost to lust. Horny pheromones (released during rut and anytime for a true mate). Fated mates.
Huge spiraled cock with flared head. Females have to orgasm to trigger ovulation. Incapable of cheating once mated MMC. Cock warming. Anal tail play.
No OMD/OWD. No virgins. No cheating. Slight breakup when she doesn’t know she’s his mate. Epilogue with a son.

**4-Star Review for *A Monster’s Light* by Lynnea Lee**
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay, listen—I came for the sci-fi escape mission and stayed for the *unplanned monster bonkfest caused by pheromones.* And I regret *nothing.*

*A Monster’s Light* is the fifth spicy gem in Lynnea Lee’s Kadrixan Mates series, and it’s like a sci-fi romcom *and* a jailbreak action thriller had a steamy baby. Our heroine, Dana, is stuck working for Omnia Pictures (basically space TMZ, but less fun) and secretly using the job to snoop around about her missing bestie. Naturally, she volunteers to interview a captured Kadrixan warrior, because why *not* mix espionage with hot alien interviews?

Enter Gnnar. Yes, spelled exactly like someone sat on a keyboard—but make no mistake, he is 100% grumpy, gorgeous, and ready to bust out of prison with Dana’s help. And because this is a Lynnea Lee story, what starts as a stealthy escape mission turns into a pheromone-fueled sprint toward safety, sexual tension, and soul bonding. (And yes, his *rut* kicks in, which is sci-fi romance code for “no one’s sleeping—literally or figuratively—for the next 48 hours.”)

There’s action, there’s heat, there’s emotional growth, and of course, there’s a happily-ever-after wrapped up with enough adrenaline and alien hormones to keep your Kindle overheating. Dana holds her own, Gnnar simmers like a protective space crockpot, and together they make running from oppressive alien overlords look like a weirdly sexy road trip.

Was it a little fast-paced? Sure. Did I wish for maybe one more chapter of them *not* trying to ravish each other while hiding behind space rocks? Maybe. But honestly, I’m not mad at it.

In conclusion: 10/10 would let Gnnar growl at me while we escape from prison. Another win for the Kadrixan crew!

Another great book in this series

Its great seeing more humans seeing the truth about the Kadrixans and the consequences Nova Vita has had to face due to it. This is another great bonding and couldn't have been for two better characters

DNF. Maybe it's just me but I could not get into this. The pacing felt slow and the writing wasn't engaging for me. I didn't get the romance or connection aspect at all and the characters didn't feel defined at all IMO.

I love scifi / alien romance but this wasn't for me.

We're back with the plucky human colonists trying to do the right thing and the super protective Kadrixans and YESSSSS. The colony is still trying to keep the humans beat down and under their thumb (even after certain truths were revealed) and, unfortunately, Dana was part of the propaganda machine. She had her reasons for sticking with the media company trying to spin the Kadrixans as violent beasts and they're understandable reasons, but she still had a hand in a chunk of the misinformation being spread about both the Colony and the Kadrixans.

Her reason for doing what she did? She needed the contacts she made in the media to keep up her search for her BFF. She knows she's not being told the truth, but figuring out what really happened isn't easy. That said, the Kadrixan she's been given leave to interview (which will then likely be spun into an anti-Kadrixan story, unfortunately), is her best hope at getting some answers.

Things don't quite go as Dana had planned, however. Soon she's on the run from Colony peacekeepers, captured, had Gnnar make a daring escape, shacking up in the wilds while trying to avoid the VERY BAD THINGS after them, and falling for the big guy.

On Gnnar's end, after his captivity, he's not at his peak. But he knows he's found his special someone and he's determined to protect her. Too bad they're translator-less and can't communicate. That doesn't stop them from hooking up, mind you. Which is understandable given the spring rut is hitting Gnnar. Honestly, Dana doesn't mind the rut AT ALL.

Anywho. Bad guys. Badder guys. A kinda awful plan to incapacitate the Kadrixans. And two individuals who find their special someone while held captive. Which worked for me! *thumbs up*

Dana is a reporter who knew long ago that her job was to get some truth but lie in her feeds. She's at a high detention facility to find a Kadrixan. She needs him to take her where she thinks her best friend has gone. When she gets to the facility she finds him gaunt, and unconscious. Or so the guard thinks.
Gnnar,Kadrixan, and is a prisoner in a high detention facility. Supposedly he crashed and was captured.
Gnnar is faking unconsciousness but has his eye on the little human female.
Dana had hidden a little object that would interfer with the camera. When she had it working she talked to Gnnar and told him she'd help him escape if he'd take her with him She told him her reason. That night as she's talking to the woman Gnnar told her about she leaves so she can talk. She knows that her apartment is bugged. In an alley while talking she's messaged that her accounts are frozen and she's to report to the nearest "police" station. Unfortunately she's captured and thrown into a transport that has Gnnar. They escape and go into hiding. Unfortunately her tag she has within her will lead the authorities to them. Now they are on the run. She had read a book about the Kadrixan and their rut. So when she touches Gnnar accidentally she knows what's happening. Although she puts it down to her being an available female.
Will they manage to get away? Will they make it to his home area? Will he be able to explain that she is his true mate?
A tale of two species with differences in finding mates. A picture is painted of the Kadrixan customs as opposed to human.
A fantastic story.

Dana has been searching for her best friend for two years. She disappeared from the hospital and The Colony said she voluntarily went to the Utopia Project. Dana knows she would never do that and suspects she was forced to go to the Kadrixan Warriors for their yearly rut. She gets her chance to “interview” a Kadrixan warrior that has been captured. As a reporter for Omnia Pictures, Dana finally gets her chance to talk to someone who can tell her the truth. But she must block the camera to be able to ask her real questions. He agrees to help her if she will contact their stronghold to rescue him. But after she reaches them that night someone figures out what she did and she has to run or be captured. She doesn’t make it out of the city.

Gnnar is mad at himself for wrecking his transport and getting caught. Chained to a wall and starved, he is surprised when a beautiful human woman is brought in to “interview “ him. But later that night he is drugged and is being transported to another prison. He is shocked when Dana is forced into the transport with him. When she is thrown against him and touches him he recognizes her as his mate. That’s all he needs to find the strength to escape.

On the run and trying to get back to his stronghold his rut hits him. Their chances of making it to safely just plummeted! An exciting, well written book that adds another layer to the ongoing fight for freedom from the tyranny of the Colony and Vita Nova.

📖 Bookish Thoughts
Lynnea Lee is an auto-buy author for me—she just knows how to write alien and monster romance. The Kadrixan Mates series has been such a fun ride, and this one might be my fave so far.
Think Alien Sky Daddy in a dystopian setting (for the humans anyway—the Kadrixans treat their women very well 👀). Dana is that girl: loyal, clever, and 100% a girls’ girl. She’s determined to find her missing bestie and even fakes an interview just to dig into the annual rut season. Iconic behavior.

I loved the adventure in this one! . Gnnar and Dana go on the run, no translators, trying to survive while lowkey falling for each other. Yes please! Gnnar was sweet, respectful, and trying so hard not to scare her off. I loved them together and I’m 100% continuing the series. It was also fun to see cameos from previous couples!

🛸 Read if you like:
• Alien Sky Daddies
• Dystopian settings
• Fated mates
• Tail play 🫣
• Nesting
• Rutting trope
• Language barrier
• Forced proximity

✨ Favorite Quote:
“My chest aches when I think of her, and it feels so tight I cannot breathe.” “That is love,” Krxare said. “It comes with the mate bond. You’ll get used to it.” “Sounds more like a heart condition to me,” Grtirr huffed.”

📖 Score: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

A Monster’s Light is the fifth book of the Kadrixan Mates series of Sci-Fi romances taking place on the world of Vokira controlled by oppressive leaders. Dana is a journalist who knew the depth of the lies the colonists lived under. She spent two years searching for Julie, her missing best friend. The authorities refused to investigate relying on the company line of misinformation. Dana works with a captured Kadrixan warrior, Gnnar, to find Julie. Helping Gnnar escape, the lovers are on the run and face killer drones, robohounds, and brutal terrain.

I have not read the previous books in this series but still thoroughly enjoyed this story. The author builds characters that had me rooting for their HEA. A strong heroine balanced with a lovable hero. More slow-burn, than fast and furious, the storyline builds as we move along delving into the characters, their world, and a growing evil. I look forward to reading the previous books and eagerly waiting for the next book.

If you are looking for a sci-fi romance with humans and aliens fighting against evil, this is the book for you. There is so much more to this book than can be written in a short review.

The alien does what?🧐 Goes into rut...

Our FMC Dana, works as a journalist for the colony. A job that allows her to inconspicuously search for her missing best friend. Needing to know if her friend joined the rut, Dana sets up an interview with a captured Kadrixan warrior- our MMC..

Luckily, the Kadrixan knows where her friend is.
Unluckily, Dana gets caught messing with the colony's cameras.

Now both of them are captured, and it's spring time- the time of year all Kadrixan's go into rut! Will they be able to escape together, or will the rut put a wrench in things?

Thoughts:
Such a cute and cozy alien romance, with a hint of captives on the run. I loved how competent our alien MMC was at surviving. Both characters were smart and funny, and I enjoyed seeing some of the cast from previous books. Open door spice (2.5🌶️), slow burn, and a HEA for the couple.

Really looking forward to seeing more of the native Vokiren tribes, Igor the cyborg, Julie and the medic Kadrixan, culture clashes, and fun activities. Can't wait for more books in the series.

If I had to compare this book to one I've read before, I'd say Krista Luna's Brides of the Moon Blade Clan.

Life is short, read whatever you want!

- Sci fi romance
- Dystopian romance
- He falls first
- Fated mates

No one does sci fi romance like Lynnea Lee. I always know I'm in for a wonderful story when I pick up one of her books. This series features Karixianx, who are beings from another world. Some of the warriors have been exiled after objecting to some directives given by the government. They have adapted to their new life and had traded ore for services during their yearly ruts. But once the trades stopped, the tenuous peace may end soon as well.

Journalist Dana has realized the Colony isn't as blameless as they make everyone believe. She has discovered a lot of truths that she cannot share just yet. But when her best friend went missing 2 years ago, her primary purpose became to locate her. To that end, she arranges an interview with Gnnar, a Kadrixian who has been captured. During her questioning, she jams the cameras and knows her time is now limited before she must flee.

This story has all of the elements I love in Sci Fi romances including cutting edge technology and a colony that bands together. I am looking forward to more stories from this world!!

4&1\2 terrific 🌟's for A Monster's Light💖🌟🔥

This was a very good installment to the Kadrixan series. Gnnar was captured and being held inside the colony of Vita Nova. He got to close to the edges of the colony hoping to find his mate. Instead of A mate he found a cell and he's awaiting transport to a lab to be studied. Enter Dana she's been looking for her closest friend Julie for over 2 years and she knows the colony is lying to her about what happens to her friend. She herself is a reporter for the state-run media and knows they lie too the population at large all the time. She's sent into to interview the Kadrixan before his move and together they make a plan to escape and find their way back to the Kadrixan strong hold. As they make their grand escape Gnnar realizes that Dana is he true fated mate, but neither has a working translator. The y dodge many dangerous and scary situations all the while exploring these new and welcome feelings for each other. Can Dana and Gnnar escape the mad scientists of Vita Nova and save their friends while falling head over heels in love? You'll have to read and find out.! Solid quick and entertaining read and a great addition to the series. 🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🔥🌟🌟🔥💖🌟💖🌟💖💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥

A Monster’s Light is the fifth book of the Kadrixan Mates series of Sci-Fi romances taking place on a world where a human colony is kept oppressed by its leaders.
MFC Dana works for Omnia pictures a job she dislikes but it will aid her in being allowed to interview a captured Kadrixan warrior, and just maybe finding out what happened to her missing best friend Julie.
She offers MMC Gnnar help in escaping from the prison he’s being held in and he gives her information on how to make contact with his stronghold.
An action packed story of adventure, spice, intrigue, romance, humor, and bonding begins as the two escape and make their way to his stronghold with Nova Vita’s authorities hot on their heels, and made more difficult by Dana’s scent beginning to trigger Gnnar’s rut which has the pheromones he is giving off taking her libido to places she’s never been before!
This was another well written, fast paced entry in the series which did not fail to entertain. HEA.

Awesome series!!!

I binge read all five books of this series and it is just wonderful. i hope there are more books coming. Each book details the romance and adventures of Kadrixan warriors, exiled to a small planet for being honorable soldiers and finding their human mates. Kadrixans go into a mating frenzy once a year but none of their females were exiled with them. The earth colony on the new planet needs ore from the Kadrixan mountains so they barter women who volunteer to go through the "rut" with the warriors or else be sent to a mysterious work camp called Utopia. Needless to say there is no Utopia, just drug testing and genetic alterations plus forced breeding. Over time the Kadrixans and the Human Women find their mates and battle the evil drug company to rescue the unfortunate humans being brutalized in Utopia. The plots are well written, you root for the couples, the "nest" plots are funny but oh do sweet, and the sex situations are hot, hot, and did I mention...hot? Treat yourself and try this series. You will not be disappointed!

'She peppered her meal with moans of appreciation and even wiggled in her seat. It was utterly adorable and it drove me insane. I wanted to pull her into my lap and feed her, let her eat from my hands as was our tradition.'

I loved this book. It was a fun, fast-paced adventure. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Dana and Gnnar. I couldn't decide who's point of view I enjoyed reading from more when I started: Dana, who was smart and playing every card she had to try and find her friend, Julie, or Gnnar captured and weakened by people who saw him as nothing more than a beast, and wasn't as sedate as the doctor and guards seemed to think he was. The story was action-packed from the start and I was completely and immediately hooked. I loved the way their relationship developed- apart from the immediate chemistry and heat. He sensed he could trust her from very early on. And once on their way, she trusted him even when she didn't have a translator to understand what he was saying. They were really cute together and made a great team. A very fun read. 5 stars.

The REAL Story….
Parts of this story really connect to/reflect the information control struggle taking place right now around the world [shudder……]. Within this Kadrixian colony storyline, I enjoyed seeing Dana try to find the truth while encountering Gnnar. Seeing familiar details from previous stories resurface was a wonderful way to then further build on the existing plot. I liked the dynamic this couple had particularly when they were on the run and couldn’t really communicate. As always, nefarious individuals try to undermine the happiness of others. Power, control and recognition despite potential harms to others are all somber points of caution while more importantly valuing personal connections that family and community each bring. A dichotomy of dark and light that makes me think seriously about the changes occurring in the world around us right now.

Turn on your heart light… 🎶

“…a tightness started in my chest, like it was so full from how happy she made me that there was no room left for air. But that was okay. I’d live on her and only her for the rest of my life if I could.”

I loved this action-packed story and stayed up late to complete it. Moves the series along nicely and while it can be a standalone, I think reading the Kadrixan Warrior series in order just adds to the richness of the experience. Engaging characters and world building that is full of danger, heat, and heart (cue the “Rut” and tail play😉). Dana is a reporter in Nova Vita and knows there is something wrong after her friend Julie disappeared 2 years ago and has been searching for her. When Gnnar, a Kadrixan warrior, is captured, she finagles an “interview” but really wants to free him and find Julie. Enjoy the ride!!.

Wow Lynnea has done it again!!!! I loved every single moment of this book! I couldn't put it down. I have been waiting to see if this series would be expanded and I was so excited to see this new one come out. Everything about this book I loved. The chemistry between these two main characters, and how they related to one another. I between them on the run not having translators to communicate but it still didn't stop them from understanding one another. The way Gnnak took care of and protected Dana as they made their escape was so heartwarming. I loved that with all the chemistry between the characters there is so much thought and planning in the plot behind the story that it keeps you on the edge of your seat as you don't know what else is going to come your way. I enjoyed every single moment of this book and I so can't wait to see if Lynnea will spoil us all and continue on with the series. This is a Must Read!!!

Dana has searched for her best friend since childhood. Being a journalist, she hopes to get some leads on Julie's location from the captive Kadrixan monster being held captive.

Dana and Gnnar end up being captives together and on the run trying to reach safety away from the long reach of Nova Vita. Gnnar's translator ends up getting broken yet they are still very drawn to one another and seem to understand one another to some extent.

Gnnar is super sweet but protective when needed. He is able to protect them most of the time from robohounds and drones even in his weakened state. We once again get a nice glimpse into the feature.

While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I strongly reading the series. Past lead characters and supporting characters like Julie show up throughout the series making the book even more enjoyable!

A Monster’s Light by Lynnea Lee is book 5 of the Kadrixan Mates series. Dana is a journalist forced to write biased articles for Omnia Pictures in support of the regime. She’s been investigating her best friend’s disappearance two years prior, and now she is poised to interview a captured demon-looking Kadrixan. She manages to block the camera recording the session and discovers her friend has joined the rebels living with the warriors. From there on, she tries to escape with Gunner. They manage to get away through many near captures to the outlying rebel conclave all the while he is going into rut, for her only! An all out near war occurs when an evil scientist captures Dana, but Gunner saves her so they all live to fight the bad guys again.

Dana has strategically positioned herself to get the opportunity of a life time - an interview with one of the Kadrixan's. Gnnar finds himself captured after getting too close to the human settlement.

Fate brings them back together and finds them needing each other to survive on the run.

The story felt fresh and like you could join the series right here without having read any of the others in the series. Get introductions to past characters and will want to read their stories as well.

I liked the connection between the characters that builds without being able to understand each other. The plot provided plenty of twists and turns that had me glued to the pages until the happy ending.

A great addition to the series.

"I was freeing my mate from another’s grasp so that she could be free to choose me."

Dana is a woman on a mission, and she will work with an alien who looks like a demon if that's what it takes to find her missing best friend.

Gnnar probably ought to say he'd do things differently, if he had them to do over again... but events brought him and Dana together, and that he simply can't regret. From an unorthodox first meeting to going on the run in search of safety, these two get to know one another under unique and trying circumstances.

This kindle unlimited book revolves around two individuals who, at their core, are the kind of person you want for a friend... want to know will be there for you when you need someone. When they come together, they empower one another, see each other's strengths, and appreciate the qualities that make them who they are.

Gnnar and Dana. Shes a journalist. Shes looking for her best friend. Her sister not by blood. She disappearred, litterally. She suspected that she went to the Kadrixans for the rut and not the Utopia where no one came back from. Hes a Kadrixans warrior thats been detained. He was said to be sedated and out. At closer look he was awake and alert and aware of her. He noticed her. She was the most beautiful female he'd seen. She wanted him to tell her about her friend. She offered to help him escape if he helped her find her friend. The society they lived in was monitered. Visual and audible. Full of Propaganda. Escapes. Shes being hunted. Rescue. Prison break. Mates and nests and rutting. Well written. Wonderful charecters.

I love this series. Each book is unique. Each couple finding their own special HEA.
Dana is Julie's friend and has been looking for her for two years. I love how she used her job to get answers and her first meeting with Gnnar.
I loved her ways of solving problems they get into , trying to get back to the stronghold. And of course how protective Gnnar was of her. She even saves him.
The back story gives us a few answers and of course questions for the next story.
Suspense was very good and the twist I did not see coming. I'm curious what is going on between Julie and Grtirr. Should be interesting to discover .

Dana is looking for her missing best friend and manages to get an interview with an imprisoned Kadrixian warrior. She offers him a deal-she will aid his escape for information on her friend. The wrong people find out and she is captured and placed with Gnnar. Their escape is fraught with danger as they are pursued by the authorities. Amidst this, Gnnar finds his rut triggered which both find difficulty resisting. Humor, action, steamy spice, intrigue and bonding enrich this well written story. Even though it can be a standalone, reading the previous books will enhance this one. Great action packed with a side of alien steam romance. Love this series.

This is a brilliant story, and we once again find ourselves reading about the tyranny of the Colony and Vita Nova and those in the colony fighting for their survival and Gnnar the Kadrixan warrior is fighting for his freedom in the right to be with his own people. Dana who is a human is searching for her best friend who was in the hospital that has now disappeared. They are saying that she volunteered to be a part of the Utopia Project, but she knows that her friend would not volunteer to do this. This book is full of action and steamy moments, and for this couple to find their way together as fated mates.

Reporter Dana knows that her interview with Gnnar, the captured Kadrixan warrior, will be edited and used for propaganda, but she goes to him to discover a way to contact her friend who disappeared two years earlier. Gnnar is surprised that the mate he has been looking for has come to him.

This is another great story in the saga of the exiled Kadrixan warriors and the human women that they have found to be compatible mates. Dana is brave and resourceful, Gnnar is gentle and protective as they make their escape from the oppressive human colony. There is lots of steam and caring in this relationship, and a HEA.

Starlight Salvation

Dana was a human reporter that worked for the fake news company. Not only did they put out fake news to breed unrest, but they also had extremely long arms into every aspect of the society on the planet. When she engineers an interview with a Kandraxian warrior being held in custody it’s really to plead with himto find her missing friend. There is an instant attraction to Gnnar and she agrees to help get him out of his captivity not knowing all hell would break loose in her life as well. That meeting is the start of an exciting, action packed romance for the two. It was full of heat, danger and an unknown enemy. I really enjoyed it.
