I feast on human terror, drinking in their screams like the sweetest nectar. But when I stumble through the portal into her room and hear her cries of pleasure, a far darker, primal hunger takes hold.
She belongs to me now. I need to hear her scream like that again, and I will, even if I have to break her apart.
The woman stolen from her world and thrust into a realm of nightmares…
I felt it—eyes watching me from the darkness, golden and unblinking from the shadows of my closet. The thought sent a shiver through me, twisting into something illicit as I let my fingers wander. But when he pounced, dragging me into his cold, merciless world, the thrill turned to terror.
Now, he demands my pleasure, my screams—but I refuse to surrender without a fight.
Monsters of Darkness is a shared world full of monsters roaming in the dark of night. Each author brings a new set of monsters and a love interest. While they share the world, there will be no crossovers of characters between each book! Each book is a standalone in it’s own right and the series can be read in any order.
G.M. FAIRY is a #1 best-selling, romance author who dabbles in Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and all things whimsical. She's best known for Get In My Swamp and Pounded by Produce. Her specialty is taking the stories we all know and love and ruining them in the best way possible.
It had strong vibes of being inspired lightly buy monsters inc but make it adult, a lot darker and spicy. I adored the characters and the whole plot line and could have easily devoured a whole book about them but at the same time the novella had enough of their story to feel satisfying.
This was a fun monsters inc retelling. Marie was all about being turned on by fear and was loud AF in bed, and therefore the perfect pick for Mr out of his mind monster that feeds on fear. It was a very fast burn, especially for a book that starts with kidnapping, but would I really choose differently? I would have loved less of a jump in time to the epilogue to get more info, though.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: kidnapping, dubcon, captivity, gore, violence, animal attack, murder, body horror, stalking, voyeurism from both MMC and from side character, stalking, hunting, poverty, foster care (past), repressed childhood trauma, starvation of side character, abuse of side character
I binged this in a couple hours, I couldn’t stop reading! The Monsters Inc. references were the cherry on top. The MMC is a furry monster that feeds off screams and the FMC is turned on by fear. Cue the wedding bells!
The character development was amazing and I truly felt like they had a strong connection. I will read anything by G.M. Fairy. The stories are always unique, well written, and extremely spicy. This book was only 121 pages and didn’t feel rushed or underdeveloped. This is one of my all time dark monster romances now!
Thank you G.M Fairy & BookSirens for this ARC! All thoughts are my own and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Oooook, who had a big fat crush on Sully from Monster’s Inc (and John Goodman for that matter)? I CAN’T BE THE ONLY ONE!! A big guy with a heart of gold and a deep voice? Please, I know I’m not the only one even if you want to deny it 😉 Thank goodness G.M. Fairy gave us Monster’s Inc lovers a dark monster romance reimagining!
I loved how Scully, our MMC, had to gain screams/fear from people in order to eat and become less feral. I loved watching as he became more cognizant of himself and his surroundings, almost becoming humanlike a lot of times after getting what he needed from the fear. It was a bit like he had amnesia until he fed enough to become more aware and start remembering important things, and I loved it! Between separate realms and this difference in consciousness, I felt the worldbuilding was very well done.
Of course I loved how Marie was a perfect match for him, in that she definitely had a fear kink, so that worked for both of them perfectly! I also loved how she had a very hectic life, with no real family or friends, so it was incredibly easy for her to give her realm the middle finger once she found her peace in the other realm.
I loved that while this was a captive/captee romance, G.M. Fairy did a great job not making their intimate times feel nonconsensual. And speaking of intimate scenes, we got both quantity and quality, which I loved 😉
I loved the action throughout the book, as well as the couple having to travel through his realm to get to the light beyond the woods. I love a destination/travel trope and this one was perfect as it was no easy journey but definitely brought them together. And of course, I loved their HEA which was perfect 😊
Thank you to G.M. Fairy for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
Monsters Inc vibes? Count me in! Scully and Marie's journey to find the light after Scully kidnap her is insane. And a spider monster dude? Howler trying to steal her every chance they can. Scully protects her as everything they connect, he begins to regain memory and a sense of who he is as a monster/human.
Pace was a tad fast for me. Spicy scenes written extremely well. As this was my first read of G.M. Fairy, I can say I will be reading more!
From the icon who brought us the gems, “Get In My Swamp,” and “Romanced By The Rat,” I present to you: “Scream For Me”💜🩵💜🩵 GM Fairy does spicy captor/captive with a fairytale retelling SO DANG WELL. Marie and Scully have my heart. I also learned about a new k!nk and monster anatomy so that was fun hehe🤭
If you want a feral monster who could just about SPLIT HER IN HALF, THIS👏IS👏IT👏 It’s giving Monster’s k!nk. It’s giving spicy forest shenanigans. It’s giving “I can fix him no really I can”.
It’s also a novella, a GM Fairy ✨specialty✨!! Her ability to reliably tell a compelling, delicious, suspenseful story within the parameters of half the length of a standard novel is honestly amazing.
Do yourself a favor and preorder this scrumptious spicy af romance if you enjoy:

Marie “suffers” from autassassinophilia: she becomes s3xually ar0used by mortal peril. When she’s just settling into her affordable but decidedly shabby new digs, she finds out that all the previous tenants have disappeared under mysterious circumstances within days of moving in. Amidst a heated argument between her next door neighbors, she’s indulging in some s3xy self care when she becomes aware of a presence in her closet, but rather than thwarting her good time, her awareness of the unknown being fuels her fun time to completion.
Fear-eating creature Scully has harvested many a human through this one particular portal, but none have caught his regard other than being a means to feed himself - until he steals away with Marie. Her cries and screams affect him differently, connecting him to his less base urges, demanding he pl3asure and protect her rather than consume her. But how in the parallel portal can he keep her when their worlds and needs are so different? (Sp0il3r alert: I won’t spoil it for you, but it’s an absolute steamy great time!)
If you’ve ever wanted to read about a very adult version of m0nsters inc, this might just be the deliciously smu++y reimagining for which you’ve been waiting.

I have to say, I finished Scream for Me by GM Fairy in just one day. If you’re expecting romance, this is definitely not that kind of book. It’s full of smut, plain and simple. Now, let’s get to my actual thoughts. A few chapters in, I started feeling like I was reading some sort of fever dream. The monster feeds on screams; it’s huge, has a tail, and horns. Sounds familiar? I thought the same thing, and kept telling myself, no, it can’t be. At the beginning, there’s no name given; it’s just referred to as “monster.” Later on, of course, we do learn his name, and from that point on, I was convinced I really was reading a fever dream. By the final chapter, it was clear. Honestly, I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if the story had been a retelling of some different animation or even a Disney princess. Since it drew inspiration from one of my all-time favorite childhood animations, I didn’t actually have that much fun with it. This doesn’t mean the book is good or bad; it’s just about me and my personal taste. That said, for readers who love dark monster smut and prefer something short, this book is absolutely ideal.
Scream for Me by GM Fairy held so much promise, but ultimately fell flatter than a pancake. A dark, MF monster romance retelling of Monsters Inc sounded like the perfect combination of heat, thrill, and fright—but what I got instead was a surprisingly tame and often disjointed read.
At just over a hundred pages, I expected a quick, intense story, yet it felt like a slog to finish. Even the gory fight scenes lacked grit or urgency, and the tension that should’ve driven the romance and horror forward never fully materialized. The premise is fun and creative, but the execution just didn’t deliver the punch it promised.
I was excited for this one, truly—but instead of screaming for more, I mostly wanted to put it down.
I really enjoyed this book, Sully and Marie were literally so cute. I would totally read a series that’s set around the monsters that woke up. Sully made me emotional when he started getting some of his memories back and remembered he has a name and that he was loved once, didn’t think I’d be crying while reading this book but here we are. Marie as a character was okay, honestly she was a little bland. Sully fully carried this book for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I've read a few of her books, so I was happy to receive this one for free.
Her books are always so… different? I guess that's the word… I've noticed that she usually likes to adapt a tale we all know (Monsters Inc, anyone?) and I'm always interested to see how she'll do it this time. This was DEFINITELY a different take on things. I'm not sure how she comes up with the story, but there are only a few similarities once she's done. A large, hairy monster named Scully. Short green dude, with one eye, named Wazco. Without screams, they can't survive. Regardless, it always leads to a short, fun, very spicy story.
“Then she screamed, a different kind. It rushed over me like a balm, sating my hunger in a way I can’t remember it ever doing before. I must make her scream for me like that again. I must keep her here so she can scream for me forever.”
Wow, that one really tossed you into the deep end of the pool LOL.
A truly filthy (often gross) Monsters, INC inspired dark romance with exactly what you might expect (kidnapping, caves, and the weirdest ween you've ever seen, oh my)
• An emphasis on this SCARY, insatiable monster chasing his hunger from one portal to another with no memory of why he's like this • Former foster kid and diagnosed autassassinophiliac just trying to make a life for herself • Plenty of delightful easter egg references to movie tropes and doorways and other MI moments you may have forgotten about
We're running through the woods, we're bathing in streams, we're hiding in caves (you get the idea). It's utterly ridiculous. You should read it.
“Yeah, thank God I’m here and don’t have to work a dead-end job. I just have to live in total darkness, run from monsters trying to kill me, and deal with you.”
i saw a video about this book on my insta reels this morning and was instantly intrigued! also, because i was having one of the worst days of my entire life, i decided to read something that would rot my brain so much that i didn't need to think about anything else. and on that front, it was very successful!
i love me some monster smut so this ticked all the right boxes, but there just wasn't enough going on beyond the smut. the worldbuilding was fine but neither marie nor scully particularly interested me as characters, and neither of them had very interesting arcs. although reading this was a nice way to pass a couple of hours, i probably won't remember any of the events of the story in a week's time for how easily forgettable it is. it's not particularly original but i do really like that it's a retelling of an existing story and puts a whole new spin on monsters inc

🤔 The book started off strong, I tucked in ready for the possibilities this book would give. Unfortunately, it didn't give what I expected.
Marie was an alright FMC, however, she jumped from one emotion and thought to next so quickly my head spun. I realize the book was long enough to give a rich in depth feel to the story but I've read shorter books and got a lot more in those few pages than this book. I didn't connect with her struggles or helplessness. 🤷🏽♀️
Scully, I… I. What could I say? Monster was monstering and then he just, wasn't. 👀
It was very straightforward and predictable. Not too bad but it wasn't great either. The premise was promising, unique, it needed follow through. Maybe next time. 💁🏽♀️
G.M. Fairy has such an incredibly wonderful writing style that it's easy, quick, and smooth to read. almost like melted butter.
Although the plot in the book is rather short, it kept me hooked and made me smile. I simply love the references to Monsters, Inc., and I find the twist delightful.
And pardon me, but monster romance is a thing!
Never thought I'd fall for it 🤣🤣
If you're looking for a light, quick read with a simple plot mixed with plenty of good (monster) spice, this is the one for you :D
Scream for Me was such a fun, spicy read! Think Monsters, Inc. but very much for adults! Where the monsters feed on screams of all kinds. The story follows a girl who gets kidnapped by a monster… and then, of course, ends up falling for him. And honestly? He’s kind of a lovable teddy bear with serious “touch her and die” energy. Protective, intense, but still soft in all the right ways. If you love childhood nostalgia turned dark and grown-up, this one is definitely a wild ride. I had so much fun with it and I’m already looking forward to picking up another book by this author!
here we go again with another weirdly beautiful retelling! gm fairy is such a great writer, i eat her books up! this story was so sweet and hot, but i’m glad i haven’t seen monsters inc in a very long time because i think it would be too weird to read if i had the characters fresh in my mind 😅 but with that said, she did a great job making it unique and so much fun! i could honestly live in this book, i loved it. thank you to the author for the arc
Another great dark monster romance from GM Fairy. I am never disappointed with her monster romances. It has a hint of comedy, scares, and smut. An all-in-one package. 'Scream For Me' had all of that and it reminded me of Monsters Inc. but for adults. The smut scenes were freaking good like The Darkness had me in a chokehold. Can I be capture by a monster and sent to his realm?
I will highly recommend if you love dark monster romances.
