It’s always hard to wait for the next book in a series but I was very happy this one came out rather expediently. There are some minor grammar glitches caused by the ghosts in the machine for those who care of such things. Endings are hard and writing is hard but this was amazing :) great way to tie it all together. Hopefully the story continues and branches out into other series as the characters are worthy of it. Buy it and happy reading! I certainly did. Thank You author ❤️
So the first book was basically a ripoff as we all know. The second book actually sort of redeemed it and was pretty good in my opinion. Now we’ve come to the third and oh boy, it didn’t just jump the shark, it dropped a building on it and nuked the rubble!
Calling this book trash would be an insult to trash. Trash can have redeeming qualities like being recycled, this can’t be saved. There are so many plot holes and random bs that I’m genuinely worried reading this gave me cataracts!
So the moon is falling, ok how are we going to stop this? Wait we’re not, massive chunks are impacting?!? Well crap we’re all dead… wait we’re not? How? The author has absolutely NO understanding of actual physics. He tries to talk about it, but clearly has no clue. First the moon being gone would screw up the earth axial tilt and rotation causing planetary instability. This would be made worse by the gravitational fields from the massive chunks of moon, these are even mentioned as being present since people are just casually claiming moon pieces! This would create such a massive rotational instability the planet would start suffering global earthquakes and basically tear itself apart! Of course that doesn’t happen because pretty sure the author has no idea.
I’m not even going to get into the physics of the machines. I totally understand “it’s magic” but some things are just idiotic and ruin all forms of immersion. I think the author just had no idea where to really take the story since he didn’t have anything else to rip off and dropped this steaming pile as a “conclusion”.
The plot of this book is AMAZING. Unfortunately, the majority of the book is the author info dumping the plot, like a reporter explaining what happened. We don't get dialogue, action or even specifics actions, just general reports about how the nations responded, what technology changed, etc.
Once in a while we get a scene with our main characters and those are wonderful. But literally the majority of the book is just giving a summary of the action.
It's like the author listed out all their plot points for the story but didn't actually write out a book for them.
So I have mixed feelings. I love the world and the characters react in clever, nuanced ways. But it was like reading the Cliff's Notes for a great book rather than the actual book.
I loved this whole series of books and this last one didn't disappoint it finished with a bang and made you know that it could be continued in the future if the author wished and enough fans voiced there need for more so here is one fan hoping to sway the author to please, please, please bring them back .
The Ghost in the Machine, book three of the Silent Archmage series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I'm happy to see this book come up after I read book one. Well, I have to say, I didn't see Zero coming. What a great reveal and ending. I could always read more books about Syl, but this book wrapped up the storyline perfectly.
I liked this a lot, but some people might find it a bit dry and full of jargon. I don’t know, I never got bored, so it stayed on the right side of the line for me. Not quite sure where they go from here though!
I like how the plot evolved and the characters developed. Most of all I liked how it wasn't your typical run of the mill Human vs AI story. It really took me a while to fall into the story but what a story it was. Kudos to the author on writing something very different and pulling it off.
Magic has overtaken Earth. Magic has replaced electricity and powers most everyday items. AI computers have left Earth but need people for innovation. An interesting read with technological innovation and magic combined.
