Janice Macdonald's new series features Imogen Durant, recently divorced, retired English professor. Imogene's work on her own academic books take her to exciting places where she immerses herself in the culture of the place (the first Imogene Durant mystery was set in Paris; the current in County Wexford, Ireland). And of course, where Imogene goes, murders follow. Imogene is more of an observer of the investigation rather than an active participant and Janice brings her incredibly sharp eye to describing the action, the city and culture, and the importance of literature to life.
Imogene is in County Wexford, finishing her book, enjoying the Irish countryside and reuniting with some old friends from grad school, when disaster strikes: a student is found murdered and Imogene's friend's daughter is implicated. Imogene spends her days writing, offering support to her friends and, through her tours of the region, offering Janice's readers a lively view of the Irish literary scene.
Fans of cozy mysteries, of Janice's Randy Craig series, and of literature in general will enjoy the Imogen Durant series, which is sure to also spark a lot of interest in travel.
