Murder on the Green

Rate this book
Shamrocks, scones, secrets, and murder…

By virtue of a lottery windfall, modern nurse midwife Maeve O'Reilly Kensington is taking her sister, Meg, her mom, and some of her mother's friends from the Hanville Grove senior center, affectionately dubbed the “Ladies of the Lobby,” on a dream holiday to the Emerald Isle. They are welcomed with open arms in Ireland and are instantly captivated by the warmth of the reception and the natural beauty of the landscape.

However, the luck of the Irish is not with Maeve when, soon after arrival, she discovers the body of a woman in Ballymoor Green—murdered! Maeve quickly learns that the victim was a relatively recent transplant, somewhat of a recluse, and a thorn in the side of many.

Initially reluctant to get involved, Maeve and Meg soon realize if justice is to be served, it's up to them to figure out the truth. Spurred on by their lionhearted mother, the pair go to great lengths to whittle down an eclectic list of suspects. Long-buried secrets bubble to the surface, and the M&Ms struggle to bring the guilty party to light.

Will the visit be ruined before it even starts? Will the discovery spark an international incident? Will Ireland ever be the same?

Murder On the Green is one of the most enjoyable mysteries I have read this year! I really enjoy the interaction between the sisters and the "Ladies of the Lobby! I also enjoyed all the description and information about Ireland. This entire series has been fascinating. I love that Maeve got to check in with the Irish midwives. When Maeve discovers the body of an unpopular, recent transplant to the area, she and Meg end up donning their detective hats. There are lots of secrets, suspects and motives to investigate. I could never have figured out this one! I simply dropped everything else once I started reading so I could see how this murder was solved. I really hope there are more books coming.

I really enjoyed this story. The family takes a trip to Ireland to visit relatives and the M&M's find themselves in a murder mystery that has roots in one of Ireland's sad points in history. Beautiful setting and well written. I look forward to the next adventure.

This lovely series continues with a long awaited trip to Ireland, the country of Maeve's father's birth and her mother's family as well. When Mary Margaret Callahan O'Reilly won the state lottery on a scratch-off ticket, the planning began. Now Mary, her three best friends, and her two daughters Meg and Maeve were leaving for a trip of a lifetime. Three weeks later all the rest of the family will join them for the final 10 days of this special trip.
Excitement laced with humor and loving banter continues as the trip begins. But once they arrive at their first destination, fate steps in. Soon Meg and Maeve have donned their detective "hats" after finding a body by the riverside the first morning in Ireland.
A fascinating plot emerges and is executed in a manner that a great deal of Irish history is presented between murder details and sightseeing trips. I found the information whetted my appetite to learn more about Ireland and the Catholic Church influences.
Everybody should have a fun and loving family like the O'Reilly clan. If you don't, you will be a part of this adventure sharing everything but jet lag and weight gain! But just in case you want more, there are yummy recipes in the back of the book for you to try! Engaging, exciting, entertaining story!

Due to a lottery windfall, midwife Maeve and her entire family are going to see family in Ireland. Her mom’s friends from the senior center are going along as well. Maeve is looking forward to the trip, not only to see family but to see the procedures that midwives do in Ireland. As per usual, Maeve and her sister Meg (called her M&Ms by their mom) find a dead body. As this discovery could possible affect some of their family members, the women set off to find the killer. The history and sights of Ireland are interwoven into the story. Not to mention the antics of Maeve’s mom and her quirky friends. I really enjoyed this cozy mystery.

A family trip to Ireland…what could be better?? Meg and Maeve can’t escape a murder investigation even on family holiday. This was my favorite in this series so far. It was as if we were transported to the Emerald Isle. Everything about this story was amazing. So many secrets. Wonderful memories made. Absolutely incredible.
