I picked up a fantasy book after so long and I'm so glad I picked this one.
Fantasy books are the ones that enable us to dream, a rich world away from the hustle and bustle of reality and nectar on the seven hills provided me that much-needed escape. It felt so refreshing, like stepping into a new world which still felt familiar.
During the lockdown in 2020, a teenage boy, Magadh and his sister, Yukti along with their parents visited their grandfather in India. The two kids along with their friend Rudra sets on an adventure to stop an enemy with all their might and courage. The adventure, suspense that was awaiting them, the sinister turns the story takes, and the truths they uncovered in their path made this book a page-turner, especially in the second half of the story. I took my time at the start as I felt things were moving slowly but as the story progressed I found myself indulging with the trio as if I was with them.
The story revolves around Indian and Chinese historical and mythical settings and the fusion of folklore, fantasy, and adventure was a hell of a ride. The research required to build such a world is so overwhelming and the execution must be more tedious and the author did a commendable job. I enjoyed the book so much and highly recommend it.

What happens when mythology, history, and fantasy collide during a global lockdown?

" Nectar on the Seven Hills " by Prabhu Ram is the kind of mytho-historical fantasy that doesn’t just tell a story—it builds a universe. Set during the 2020 pandemic lockdown, the story follows Magadh, Yukti, and Rudra as they find themselves entangled in a race against time, uncovering hidden legends and confronting ancient forces on their journey to discover the Pure Seed.

Without giving away the plot—because the adventure deserves to be experienced first-hand—what truly elevates this book is the meticulous layering of Indian mythology with historical events and global civilisational crossovers. The author's in-depth research is visible on every page, and the way he integrates facts with fiction is seamless and enriching.

The language is lucid and inclusive, making it accessible to a broad range of readers. The world-building is expansive, and though the initial chapters take their time to set the tone, the pace quickens and grips you with action, mystery, and mythical wonder.

As someone who appreciates thoughtful storytelling and the nuances of narrative structure, I found this book not just entertaining but deeply inspiring. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy mythology, history, fantasy—or anyone looking to be immersed in a world where the past and present collide with purpose.

Highly recommended for:

Mythological and historical fiction lovers

Readers who enjoy layered, well-researched narratives

Aspiring writers looking to study craft through storytelling

Young adult and adult readers seeking immersive Indian fiction..

Set during the time of the 2020 global pandemic Prabhu Ram introduced "Nectar on the Seven Hills- The Pure Seed" which merges fantasy elements with Indian mythology along with historical imagination. Through three young protagonists named Magadh, Yukti and Rudra the tale takes place when these teenagers wander into the mystic Eastern Ghats forests and face a cosmic battle which recalls mythical histories and hidden truths. What begins as a simple return trip to India spirals into a mytho-historical epic with ancient secrets and anticipating threats.

The strongest aspect of this book lies in its visionary perspective. Through this book the author connects Indian mythology with universal civilizational elements including Chinese mythology alongside Vedic scriptures and mythic symbolism brought together to the canopy of a pandemic-triggered lockdown. The book presents a multicultural ambition which shows younger readers how different cultures extend their narratives past standard Western magical elements.

The story presents a clear depiction of both mystical Eastern Ghats and the tempting ancient sutras and deep secret revelations. The author's thorough research strengthens the whole book through the addition of genuine Sanskrit sutras that adds an extra layer of authenticity and cultural texture to the book.

The writer adapts the narrative tone which suit the readers of each age group with complete understanding. The book moves smoothly across the pages in a good manner that does not burden readers with complicated terminologies or complex organizational structures.

The biggest flaw of the book stems from its over reliance on exposition. The golden rule of storytelling is “show, don’t tell” which is compromised nearly every time. In this book characters demonstrate their feelings through explicit statements instead of creating emotional reactions through their conduct and spoken words. The storytelling becomes emotionally hollow because of the excessive use of explanatory dialogue which makes critical dramatic scenes ineffective and flat.

The book takes almost 50 pages to get its actual momentum . The initial chapters take excessive time in building the backdrop which is too slow for a fantasy book. Some readers especially those who prefer high-tempo fantasy may struggle with this early lag before the book eventually gains speed.

All main characters including Magadh along with Yukti and Rudra occupied the centre of action in the narrative yet their internal development is constrained throughout the story. We(readers) are told they are brave, curious, or burdened by visions, but there’s minimal or no significant emotional evolution.
Their interactions often seem artificial instead of naturally developed or organically presented because of this it becomes difficult for readers to develop a connection to them and limits the attachment.

For a book steeped in mystery and ancient power struggles, the climactic resolutions come too easily. Threats are introduced with great flair but resolved without substantial conflict or sacrifice, undermining the stakes and diminishing narrative tension.

In conclusion, it is an ambitious and well-researched entry into the Indian fantasy world. Its strength lies in tje originality of plotline, cultural richness, and mythological interpretations. However, the book falters in its execution particularly in character depth, pacing, and narrative. Therefore, it is a commendable introduction to Indian mytho-fiction for young readers. With more refined storytelling in its sequels sharpened character arcs, immersive scene setting, and emotionally resonant climaxes the trilogy has the potential to truly shine.

The Pure Seed which is Part 1 in the Nectar On The Seven Hills Trilogy is one of the best Mythological fictions I've ever read so far… Honestly I just couldn't stop reading this book that I've completed in just a couple of sittings, enjoying each and every bit of this adventurous and mysterious journey with the glimpses of ancient Indian culture, knowledge, history and its wisdom…

“Yukti, Rudra and Magadh” were the three children whose spiritual journey to the eastern ghats of India where located the city Tirupati of Lord Balaji who is also the Lord of The Seven Hills, were turned into “The Wise , The Valiant and The Savior” and their journey was turned into a path filled with mysteries, dangers and adventures to face a strong and ruthless enemy from an ancient lore, who had been living under the earth… Separated from their parents on a fateful night, the children who were less familiar with the ancient Indian culture and lores were met by many legends from the past… How could the children face an enemy so ancient?? Will they succeed in their journey to save the balance of the universe and return to their homes safely?? What is the Pure Seed and story behind the Nectar on Seven Hills???

Along with these children, Chinese Army men had also entered the same place on their own mission to find something that makes them immortal, but the General was not so sure of what he was searching… All these were happening in the period of the pandemic… How will their journey be?? Will their paths cross or something else might happen??

This book is something that every Mythological fiction, fantasy and adventure book lover should never miss at any cost… The narration was fluid and perfect enough to keep the readers at the edge without boring them and there are Sanskrit verses which gave perfect vibes for entering into an Indian Mythological fantasy journey…Readers that are unfamiliar with Ancient Indian stories can also enjoy and understand easily as author mentioned meanings for such terms and persons in the story as well as in glossary…I absolutely enjoyed the journey and the cliffhanger left me with lots of questions, suspense and curiosity that I'm eagerly waiting for the next part…

Highly Recommended!! Happy Reading 💝 😊…

Nectar on the Seven Hills: The Pure Seed surprised me in the best possible way. Blending Indian mythology with fantasy and adventure, this book felt like stepping into a world that's both ancient and refreshingly new.

The story follows Magadh, Yukti, and Rudra as they get caught up in a thrilling quest filled with secrets, legends, and dark forces. I loved how the author weaved Indian cultural elements with adventure tropes — it made the world-building feel rich and rooted yet exciting.

The pacing was mostly engaging, especially in the second half where the action really picks up. I also appreciated the deeper themes of courage, friendship, and destiny.

My only reason for knocking off a star is that the first few chapters felt a little slow, with a lot of background details that took time to settle in. But once the story found its rhythm, I was hooked.

If you're a fan of mythology-inspired fantasy with a touch of mystery and adventure, this book is definitely worth checking out. I'm curious to see where the next part of the series takes these characters

Nectar on the Seven Hills: by Prabhu Ram is an epic fantasy adventure with thriller elements and a blend of mythology unfolding amidst a pandemic-induced lockdown. The story begins in China where General Xilian & his men are orchestrating chaos in India. Meanwhile, in India, siblings Magadh and Yukti find themselves stranded in the forests of eastern ghats. They are soon joined by Rudra, and together they embark on an adventure to confront an ancient enemy and a dangerous quest of discovering a ‘pure seed’.

The book's captivating plot hooked me from the start. The author skillfully blends thriller, fantasy, and mythology with vivid descriptions, creating an immersive reading experience. The unexpected twists kept me engaged until the very end. The character development is amazing. The main themes of the book are friendship and courage as reflected in the growing bond of the trio.

As the first book in the trilogy, it started strong, and I can't wait to read the upcoming books in the series.

This is an attention grabbing debut novel that flawlessly merges Indian mythology with fantasy, taking readers to a beautifully drawn universe where ancient wisdom and historical imagination collide. Prabhu Ram's study and enthusiasm for storytelling are evident in the difficult world-building, which seamlessly blends mythological creatures, historical events, and fantastical aspects.

What distinguishes this novel is its daring attempt to mix Indian mythology with universal issues, resulting in a tale that is both profoundly indepth in culture and broadly approachable. The use of Sanskrit sutras like :

pārthivād dāruņo dhūmas
tasmād agnis trayīmayah
tamasas tu rajas tasmāt
sattvaṁ yad brahma-darśanam,

(This one was my favourite 💕 out of all with its translation or explanation totally amazing)
adds authenticity and depth, demonstrating the author's commitment to his profession and ofcourse his knowledge in this beautiful language, learning which is not a cake walk and for me this is truly amazing and praiseworthy. These features not only teach readers about Indian mythology and its beauty, but also create an engaging tale that appeals to readers from all the backgrounds and binds them to this tale of fantasy.

However, the tempo might be inconsistent at times, with some portions moving at a slow rate and others rushing past. I personally felt that the book took pace from 8th chapter AN UNTOLD PROPHECY, at least for me. The characters, while well-intentioned, struggle to show a strong emotional response, making it difficult for readers to truly believe in their travels. Like a book should also include some emotional connections if we we are talking about friends who are the main characters of the tale. The final endings, although attractive, sometimes feel hurried, leaving potential for more details and comprehensive conclusions.

Despite these shortcomings, the book's uniqueness, cultural complexity, and capacity for growth make it an engaging read. I really enjoyed reading chapter 18 AN UNEXPECTED BATTLE AT BHAIRAVABHATTA, like it's satisfying the child in me 🥹.

The readers who are fans of mythology and fantasy will appreciate the new perspective, and with little work on character development, their emotions and timing, this series might really take off and rule over people's hearts. The world-building, though little overpowering, strongly demonstrates the author's knowledge, innovation and originality, making it an intriguing tour through Indian mythology with some desi Indian tadka.

Overall, "Nectar on the Seven Hills: The Pure Seed" is an admirable, wholesome attempt that offers an entertaining and immersive experience. Prabhu Ram's enthusiasm for storytelling is clear, making readers look forward to seeing how his artistry evolves in future parts. And ofcourse praising him for writing such a novel that took our generation to read some mythology with some mythological langauge. With its distinct combination of mythology, fantasy, and adventure, this book has the ability to fascinate readers and leave an indelible mark which cannot be ignored or denied.

And lastly I would like to admire the cover of the book which is equally beautiful and fascinating as the book is making it dreamy and attractive

I'm looking forward to reading the series now and I'm excited for the second book .

Have you ever imagined/wondered about experiencing the things you've watched in a fantasy movie from the Disney World or Harry Potter world? This book was something like that, and OMG! This was unique too. It felt as if I was inside the book along with the characters, experiencing. This book healed something in me, though it's fictional, but it healed the little girl in me. I literally devoured this book in 3 days, as it's unputdownable too. The starting of the book felt a bit slow, but after 20 pages, it kept me hooked till the very end, I loved it sm. And look at the cover, how gorgeous it is, the story inside is the same as well.

So, this is the first part of the trilogy "NOTSH":- The Pure Seed. This book is an exciting debut novel that brings Indian mythology & fantasy together in a very unique way. The author did an excellent job in writing about our rich ancient history & mythology with fantasy. The actual story starts when Magadh's grandpaa gives him a unique locket, which seems to hold secrets. In the book, there are three protectors (the savior, wise & valiant), who are destined to protect, they are tasked to find the pure seed, the nectar which is hidden somewhere. That seed holds the secrets from the other three yugas, which would be helpful in this kaliyuga too.

I loved how there were elements of all 4 yugas, in today's generation, history & mythology have been left behind somewhere & people don't seem to remember anything, but after reading this book, everything will change. It's not just about a fantasy book, but our culture & history too. It's great to learn a lot from this book & it'll be amazing for the younger generations too.

The author has woven Indian mythology with universal themes, making the story relatable to all. You won't be bored in between, this book has everything like suspense, drama, mysteries & a ride full of adventures. The story building is impressive, & the use of Sanskrit sutras along with eng translations adds depth to the story, making the book's uniqueness & cultural richness an engaging.

The nature, places, & their journey felt real, which gave me comfort & goosebumps at the same time. I particularly enjoyed the scenes of the fantasy library, the savior talking with the animals, the nature being alive like we saw in the Doraemon or Shinchan movies as a child. The book also shows the negative/evil side from our history, and the emergence of the daughter of nature mother, the scene where power emerged through the locket. It was really fascinating to read about our gods or monsters.

The last 3 chapters were just amazing, I didn't want the book to end. Overall, this book offers an entertaining and wonderful rollercoaster experience. I'm eagerly waiting for the second book. The story felt like a dream, that felt truly real. If you're a fan of mythology & fantasy, you'll truly appreciate this fresh perspective. This story is unforgettable, a story that would stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Nectar on the Seven Hills is an Indian fantasy novel chronicling the strange experiences of three children—Magadh, Yukti, and Rudra—as they find themselves lost in the forests of the Eastern Ghats near the famous Seshachalam Hills in Tirupati.

The first couple of chapters are set in China, and it is a slow, bland beginning. However, things start getting interesting from the third chapter, when we are introduced to the child protagonists. After that, the novel gains pace and is gripping till the end.

Magadh is the main protagonist, and he is an intriguing character. Initially, I found him to be a bit unlikable, but he grew on me as the book progressed, and by the end, I found myself rooting for him. Yukti and Rudra are also interesting characters and play vital roles in the book. Their friendship is well-developed, but I feel that something was missing in their bond that prevented me from being fully invested in them, and that made the emotional punches less impactful. But since there are more books in the series, the bond will only grow stronger in time and perhaps lead to more emotionally intense moments.

The author, Mr. Ram, has incorporated the supernatural and mythological elements in the story with appreciable expertise. His research and knowledge are thorough, and the world-building is exceptional. The descriptions are vivid and brilliant, making everything come alive, as if you are right there in the scene.

The language is lucid with the occasional peppering of luscious wordplay. However, I did find a few grammatical and punctuation errors here and there.

The battle sequences are also well-written and kept me on the edge of my seat. Throughout the book, I felt as if I were watching a movie. It was a riveting journey.

However, and I couldn't help notice this: the entire premise felt a bit unrealistic. I know all of it is happening deep within the jungle devoid of human presence, but the sheer magnitude of the events—blue beams flashing towards the sky and illuminating the entire forest, hillocks moving, huge eagles flying in the sky, mammoths and massive owls fighting—render it difficult to believe that the rest of the world (including their parents who were searching for them right at the edge of the forest) would be blinded and unaffected by these extreme happenings. I know one could argue that other fantasy novels also have similar settings and extensive battles, but they are more believable as they occur in a different realm. However, this can be fixed in the next book if Mr. Ram works on this feedback.

Nevertheless, the ending is interesting, setting up the story nicely for the next book in the trilogy. I will look forward to it. Overall, Nectar on the Seven Hills is a unique, engrossing, well-written fantasy novel if you can suspend disbelief to a certain extent.

4 stars from my side.

Greatly imaginative. If you love fantasy I recommend reading this book. It'll keep you guessing, laughing with some of the characters conversation, and will never let you go without completing it. This book amazed me. It was different from anything I have ever read till now. Although it started out a bit slow for me, after I got past that bit, I could not put it down. It sucked me in so well, I literally finished it in 2 days! Also, when the book eventually ended I was left feeling both satisfied and thirsty for more.

I love these characters and i love the plots bound within plots that will hopefully make this book memorable. Just a really fun read, and I was honestly sad when it was over. The author is very skilled at creating the characters and convincing the reader of its reality then pulling you right into it.

The awesome writing style certainly paints a vivid picture on the back of your mind while reading it. There are so many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, shocking revelations that kept elevating the story reveal after reveal.

The interactions and the writing style just pulled me inside the book. I know the next book is not going to be out for a while but I am so ready for it. The description of the world and the myth concepts and everything that gave inspiration to this story is amazing. It holds on to you long after the final page has been turned.

THE PLOT!! It was so well done that I probably couldn't even give you spoilers if I wanted to. It's so twisty and complicated, yet when everything comes together, it makes sense. I was able to understand what was happening and why since all the characters motivation was spot on and development of everything was so thought out.

While it's fantasy and set in the Covid outbreak, I kind of had better understanding with the theme and tried to imagine the possibilities of these combined with myth even though it's fictional. To make it look a lot more real, to grab the attention of the readers, the author added a few sanskrit scripts along with its english translation. I really love how the chapter at initial starts with a separate plotline and characters but eventually comes together at the end. I felt myself connected more to the story as the characters seem to be making progress. The ending definitely builds tension, the final page ends in cliffhanger making me want to dive straight into the next book in the series but guess what, I have to wait till it's out.

Lockdown is on the verge. Chinese General Xillian travels to India to get his hands on the skull bone relic of Master Xuanzang from Nalanda Monastery. Teenagers Magadh and Yukti, along with their parents, travel to India to meet their grandfather. They are joined by Rudra in India. Little did they know that this trip would be changing their fate forever.
What happens when they visit the Seshachalam Hills?
Where's the pure seed, and more importantly, what's the pure seed?
Grab the book and find out.

I picked a mythofantasy genre book after a very long span of time, and I can't explain enough how refreshing it felt.

First things first. The world-building by the author is remarkable. The tension, hills, forests, scenic beauty, creatures, and even supernatural elements the characters encounter are described so beautifully that I felt like I was right there with them. Clearly, the author has put in a lot of effort, and it pays off handsomely.

Another major highlight is the use of Sanskrit chants. They are provided in English transliteration and also their meanings in simple English. They are not there just for show; they are part of the story and contribute to the plot.

The writing style of Prabhu Ram is very clear and easy to follow. Even though the story deals with multiple genres—mythology, history, and fantasy—the language is simple. I never felt lost. The descriptions are vivid but not overdone. The narrative keeps you engaged. There are enough cliffhangers at the end of many chapters to keep your curiosity alive about what happens next.

Coming to characters, Even though the trio are caught up in events far bigger than themselves, they still feel like normal teenagers at heart. They have doubts, they argue, they worry about their family, and they try their best to make sense of the strange world they are suddenly part of, just trying to do the right thing in very difficult situations. The moment was a pure gem where Yukti realized that she had underestimated Magadh all her life and, in reality, he was a prodigy all along.

On a conclusive note. The book will definitely be enjoyed by fantasy and mythology enthusiasts. It is a good start to a trilogy that promises to be full of surprises. I can’t wait to see where the next part of the trilogy takes us.

What if the quiet of the pandemic lockdown was merely a disguise ?—a disguise that hid ancient whispers of lost power.

Nectar on the Seven Hills: The Pure Seed begins in the midst of the Eastern Ghats, shrouded in mist and myth, where an everyday journey becomes an extraordinary destiny. As sisters Magadh and Yukti—and their surprise friend Rudra—trip over riddles encased in poetry, they unlock a gateway to the mythic Pure Seed, a power secreted away for centuries. But with each advance, peril threatens in the person of General Xilian, a powerful Chinese villain salivating over immortality.

What really amazed me is how seamlessly this story flows between folklore and fantasy, without overwhelming the reader in thick mythology or constant jargon. The narrative is still tight, suspenseful, and intensely engaging, while still resonating with the beat of ancient Indian wisdom. Prabhu Ram's prose sketches the forests as more than just backdrops, but as characters—alive, observant, and filled with whispers of the divine. Temples don't merely stand, but breathe. Verses don't just rhyme, but reveal.

The magic is subtle and respectful, never flashy. It's not spells or wars, but energy, intent, and the spiritual gravity of legacy. Yukti, in every sense, caught my eye. Her resolute determination, inner understanding, and quiet fortitude infused the story with a soulful gravity. She seemed less of a character and more like an animating presence.

This reminded me why stories spun from our heritage seem ageless. It awakened that appetite for stories in which history meets fantasy, in which things are concealed within symbolism, and where adventure is suffused with meaning. If you're a reader who is attracted to books that read like movies but give you something more—something old and deep—then The Pure Seed is an absolute must-read.

And knowing this is just the first of a trilogy? Let’s just say—I’m ready to return to the hills.

Nectar on the seven Hills is the gripping first book in Prabhu Ram’s Nectar on the Seven Hills series — and it wastes no time pulling you into its world of mystery, mythology, and danger.

Set in the dense forests of the Eastern Ghats during a pandemic-induced lockdown, the story follows siblings Magadh and Yukti, along with their new friend Rudra. What starts as a strange and unexpected adventure quickly turns into a race against time as they face off against an ancient, powerful enemy. With legends coming alive around them and threats hiding in every corner, the trio must rely on their courage, friendship, and wits to survive — and perhaps even save the world.

The central mystery revolves around the elusive "Pure Seed," a powerful object tied to ancient lore, while General Xilian and his men lurk in the background with their own dark plans. The plot moves quickly, keeping the tension high with constant twists, secrets, and supernatural encounters.

What really stands out is the way Ram blends Indian mythology with elements from other ancient civilizations. It gives the story a unique texture, offering a fresh take on epic fantasy while also reimagining bits of history through a mythical lens. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into creating this world, and that depth really shows in the storytelling.

Despite the epic scale, the heart of the story lies in the bond between the main characters. Magadh, Yukti, and Rudra are easy to root for — each with their own strengths and struggles — and their friendship feels real, especially as they face danger after danger together.

If there’s one challenge, it’s that some of the mythological references might go over the heads of readers unfamiliar with Indian traditions. But the fast-paced storytelling and clear stakes help keep things grounded and engaging.

Overall, The nectar on the seven hills is a thrilling start to a promising series. It’s packed with adventure, mystery, and a touch of magic — perfect for readers who enjoy fast-paced fantasy with strong cultural roots. Think Percy Jackson meets ancient Indian legends. It’s imaginative, exciting, and hard to put down.

‘Nectar on the Seven Hills – The Pure Seed’ by Prabhu Ram is a gripping fantasy-adventure that skilfully weaves together mythology, history, and science. Set against the real-world backdrop of the 2020 pandemic, this is the first instalment of an ambitious trilogy that takes readers on a thrilling ride through ancient prophecies, secret missions, and mystical discoveries.

The story opens with seemingly unrelated threads: a covert team led by Chinese General Xilian travels to India in search of the secret to immortality, guided by clues in ancient Chinese texts; an NRI family visits Tirupati to fulfil a grandfather’s final wish; and a mysterious force awakens, setting into motion events foretold aeons ago.

A great cycle of destruction looms—yet a protector is destined to rise. But will he come in time to prevent the apocalypse?

What sets this book apart is its rich integration of Sanskrit texts, which lend the story a spiritual and mystical dimension. While some readers unfamiliar with the language might find these sections intense, the author thoughtfully provides translations that make the experience accessible. The narrative also explores intriguing intersections between Indian and Chinese civilizations, enhanced by vivid storytelling that involves talking sculptures, walking trees, and celestial light phenomena.

There’s a strong undercurrent of science as well, with concepts such as the role of bees in ecosystems subtly woven into the fabric of the tale. The author’s meticulous research is evident, and the story often inspires readers to delve deeper into real-world references—be it the sarcophagus at Nalanda or the intricate architecture of the Srirangam temple.

The prose is lucid, the pacing brisk, and the world-building immersive. A compelling blend of the mythic and the modern, Nectar on the Seven Hills is an entertaining tribute to cultural heritage. It leaves you eager for the following sequel in this richly imagined saga!

Review :
"Nectar on the Seven Hills" by Prabhu Ram is a fantasy fiction that has a brilliant fusion of Indian history and mythology. The story also follows the classical tropes like chosen one and prophecy.

In the beginning it takes me some time to get used to the book. And it is not about the writing but about the introduction of a different cast of characters with different motives and also the timeline. It is a lot of information to keep up with.

But after 70 pages, when the setup changes to the mysterious, eerie, treacherous depths of the Eastern Ghats and we are starting to know more about the ancient, mythical lore, the story picks up, and you will easily get engrossed in it. And the author does an amazing job portraying the Seshachalam Hill range and its mystic nature from various characters that you can picture it yourself.

The story is a plot-driven one, where the selected protectors are on the quest of destroying the Nectar of Immortality to keep the balance of the universe. On the other hand, the Maya Danava and his army want to acquire themselves to make themselves more powerful and change the universe in their favor. But in this first book it is the search to find the pure seed to move towards the main target. The story is extremely full of mysteries, myths, and action, and you won't be able to guess where it's going.

But what I like about the book is even though it's a plot-driven book, we get some good character portrayal and character development all through the story. As teen characters Magadh, Yukti and Rudra has a good character Arc. But the antagonists and other minor characters are also interesting to follow. And there is much more to look forward to.

Overall, the book is a good start to an epic fantasy series, and I am intrigued. Also, I highly recommend it if you like to read mythological fiction with adventurous, high-stakes situations.

If you thought Hogwarts was magical & mysterious, wait until you find out what's hiding on the Seven Hills!

🐚INSIGHT: Set in 2020, during the pandemic & lockdown, the story follows a teenage boy, Magadh, & his younger sister, Yukti, living with their NRI parents in America, as they get embroiled in an epic adventure on a trip to visit their grandfather in India. Neither Magadh nor Yukti are ordinary children; a catastrophe soon leads to the unfolding of their respective destinies, & together with their friend Rudra, they must defeat the evils that have been lurking in shadows before time runs out.

🐚REVIEW: This is book 1 of a trilogy, & serves as a promising fusion of mythology, lore, fantasy & action/adventure. The author deserves high praise for the way he has researched, then layered his research into the narrative, & his extensive knowledge of not just ancient Indian mythology & history, but also that of other civilisations such as the Chinese, shines through. The language is kept easy-to-read & lucid, making the book accessible to a wider demographic. The world-building is marvellously carried out. However, the author relied heavily on telling rather than showing & hence some of the narration, personally, fell flat. Minor weaknesses aside, this is a wonderful read for all mytho-fiction & fantasy readers!

🐚STRENGTH: 1. Reader-friendly language, in keeping with the book's target audience.
2. World-building was excellent.
3. Very well-researched, enlightening take on mythology.

🐚WEAKNESS: 1. Pacing was a bit slow for the first 50 pages or so. I would have preferred if few of the earlier chapters also ended in cliffhangers, but it definitely got amended as the book progressed.
2. The author could have employed more of showing rather than telling.

🐚TARGET READERS : Ages 12+

🐚GENRE: Middle-grade Fantasy/Mytho-fiction

🐚RATING: 3.9/5

In a world gripped by the COVID pandemic, "Nectar on Seven Hills" takes us on a thrilling journey through fantasy and action. The story unfolds in China, where a group of monks discovers a secret to immortality, leading to a daring mission called Operation Silk Road.

At the helm of this operation is Senior Admiral General Xilian of the PLA, who teams up with the insightful monk Ji Kuanshu. They have one goal: to retrieve the legendary skull bones of Master Xuanzang, a revered figure in Chinese history. But here’s the catch—the skull is divided into pieces, scattered between China and India.

Some fragments are hidden within the sacred walls of Xingjiao Temple in China, while others lie at the Xuanzang Memorial Hall in Nalanda University, India. This journey isn’t just about immortality; it’s also a deep dive into history. The narrative beautifully intertwines the rich legacy of Nalanda University, once a beacon of knowledge, and its tragic destruction by Bakhtiar Khilji.

As our heroes race against time to piece together this powerful relic, we witness not only their struggles but also the echoes of history that shaped our world. The stakes are high, and the action is relentless. Will they succeed in their quest for immortality? Or will history repeat itself?

"Nectar on Seven Hills" is more than just a fantasy tale; it’s a reminder of our past and a thrilling exploration of what lies ahead. If you’re looking for an engaging read that combines history, action, and fantasy—all set against the backdrop of a pandemic—this book is definitely for you! Dive into this adventure and uncover the secrets that await!

Such a cool concept! I’ve always been curious about Indian mythology, but this book made it feel fresh and adventurous in a way that didn’t overwhelm me with details. Nectar on the Seven Hills mixes myth, fantasy, and a bit of history to create this massive, fascinating world and honestly, hats off to Prabhu Ram for even attempting something this ambitious. It’s clear he knows his stuff, and his love for the subject really comes through.

The Sanskrit verses sprinkled throughout the story? Loved them. I won’t pretend I understood them all at first glance, but the way they were explained was super interesting and added this authentic touch that made the world feel so real. It’s rare to see that kind of cultural detail done this well.

That said, the pacing threw me off a bit. Some parts felt like they were crawling along, and then suddenly, BAM everything’s happening at once. Personally, the story really grabbed me after Chapter 8, when the whole prophecy thing kicked off. That’s when I properly got invested.

The characters are likable, but I do wish there was a little more emotional depth to their friendships. It sometimes felt like they were going through epic stuff, but their reactions didn’t always hit as hard as I expected. But hey, for a debut fantasy, it’s still pretty impressive.

The battle scene made me feel like a kid again, completely lost in the action! And the book cover? Gorgeous. Seriously, this is one of those books you want on your shelf just for the aesthetic.

Overall, it’s a fun, original read with so much potential. If the next part slows down to build the characters more, I can totally see this series becoming a favorite for mythology and fantasy lovers. Looking forward to what’s next!

Nectar on the seven hills - The Pure Seed is the first book in a fantasy trilogy, based on Indian mythology, Vedic scriptures and shared Indo-Chinese cultural history. This is an ambitious debut considering the plot and the research involved in crafting the same. Author Prabhu Ram, has to a great extent, succeeded in building a world which can fascinate young fantasy readers, as well as be interesting to history and mythology nerds. The best part of the book is this world building utilising the folklore and the exquisite beautiful and treacherous terrain unique to the Eastern Ghats. The book reminded me a lot about Narnia with teen protagonists, enchanted forests and mythical beings. The relationship dynamics between the characters is something worth looking forward to. The inner turmoil and growth of Magadh ,the sibling relationship between Yukti and Magadh and their evolving friendships were spot on. This book boasts of some fascinating father figures, one being that of Vishwa, the protagonists' father, who is strict, yet thoughtful and loving; their mysterious and endearing grandfather and the very giving and everloving Hanumanth. The animal companion, Adhaya also has been portrayed to possess some paternal instincts and tender fatherly emotions. The storytelling from the adults' perspectives does give the book an upgrade and potential to evolve into a high fantasy. I felt that the storytelling could have had been elevated, if the herculean conflicts the teen protagonists faced were not as easily resolved as shown in the book. That being said, this is definitely a good start to a series which I would definitely want to continue with.

Prabhu Ram's Nectar on the Seven Hills: Pure Seed is an exciting tapestry of mythology and fantasy and spiritual quest that's filled with thrills and profound lessons. Against the peaceful and somber backdrop of pandemic-induced lockdowns all over and about the Eastern Ghats region, Prabhu Ram's Nectar on the Seven Hills: Pure Seed offers you an extremely immersive world that's every bit culturally rich and adventurous.
The book is about three teen heroes, Magadh, Yukti, and Rudra, who are thrust into an time-bound mission to unravel an age-old foe's enigma and trace legendary Pure Seed. What begins on lockdown mode travel soon becomes an perilous odyssey of undercover mythology, dark power, and spiritual epiphanies. With General Xilian and his men scheming in darkness, stakes are very high for the group as they are pushed to believe in camaraderie, bravery, and India's age-old mythology to guide them through.
Among its best qualities is its mytho-historical foundation. Ram deftly integrates Indian mythology and world historical sources to develop a multi-leveled novel that will be rewarding for fans of clever, research-rich stories. Each page demonstrates painstaking care for detail, particularly where cultural allusions and spiritual resonances enhance the protagonist's journey.
Threads of fate, camaraderie, courage, and collision of ages’ verities and modern-day crises are woven throughout the novel, which gives it emotional and philosophical heft. Ram’s narration does far more than entertain, it calls forth reflection, giving its readers an exhilarating adventure and a spiritual journey.

And it contains all the ingredients of a perfect adventure read; from an engaging quest to likeable protagonists and a sense of excitement, making it a gripping read from the first page to the last.

The story combines fantasy, adventure, myths and ancient history in a gripping plot. Right from the first page, you feel curious about how the story would unfold and the author doesn't disappoint. The book's scope is huge including the background of the Covid Pandemic but the central mystery keeps you hooked.

This book follows the journey of a few devils and the wise. Who will prevail: the wise or the devils? In Kaliyug, either outcome is possible, and what follows is intriguing.

Siblings Magad and Yukti, along with their newfound friend Rudra, embark on an adventure through the forests of the Eastern Ghats during the pandemic and lockdown. They race against time to confront an ancient enemy, while their rivals from China pursue the same goal. Along the way, numerous characters come to life, including animals that speak and take charge of their own kingdoms. A Queen Bee emerges to offer her assistance.

The exploration of bees and wasps in this story is incredibly informative, showcasing how perfectly nature is designed. Every creature has a defined role, with some living selflessly for others. The author skillfully illustrates the connections between humans and animals, highlighting their interdependence—demonstrating that one cannot thrive without the other. This book is the first part of the series, and I eagerly await the next installment.

The parallel storylines keep readers on edge, constantly wondering who will win and what will happen next. Both children and adults can equally enjoy this book, which transports you to a world that feels both ancient and modern.

The blend of ancient and modern technology is beautifully presented, allowing readers to visualize the narrative vividly. The storyline is clear and eloquently narrated, enabling readers to picture the scenes and characters. Grab your copy and join Magad, Yukti, and Rudra in their thrilling race!

Set against the misty forests of the Eastern Ghats during the 2020 lockdown, Nectar on the Seven Hills: The Pure Seed takes you on a journey that’s part myth, part adventure, and all mystery. What starts as a simple family visit quickly spirals into something much bigger, siblings Magadh and Yukti, along with their new friend Rudra, find themselves caught in an ancient prophecy linked to a powerful secret called the Pure Seed. There are magical clues, mysterious artefacts, ancient verses, and even a ruthless Chinese General Xilian chasing immortality.

I loved the book because of how effortlessly it blends Indian mythology with a fast-paced and modern plot. It does not have heavy explanations or complex language. Still, it seems to draw you into a world where temples whisper secrets, the forests feel alive, and old wisdom breathes through ancient scripts. The magic in the book does not feel flashy rather it makes us feel the quietness, the sacred and rooted beliefs. The setting of the book was very vivid making our imagination more clear. The writing had smoothness which helped me hooked to the book. Yukti, especially, stood out to me because of her strong, calm, and grounded personality. There’s something very comforting about her presence in the story.

This book yet again made me fall in love with stories rooted in culture and folklore. If you enjoy mythological fiction that reads like an adventure film but carries the depth of old wisdom, you’ll love this. And knowing it’s just the first in a trilogy? I’m already excited about what comes next.
