Overall Rating: 2.75, rounded to 3 for GR

Plot: 3/5
Spice: 2.5/5 (only for number of on page V off page. Rather bland, clinical.)
Characters: 3/5 (they were ok, not problematic but not rushing to remember their names)

Overall Reco:
It's a very cute and low stakes book. And really, if that's what you are looking for this will probably be an enjoyable time. I do think this is a cute read and the series has potential and it's an interesting take on fated mates (without using the words "fated mates"). It's very insta-love, but that is expected, even so it's not a crazy rushed thing, there is still courting and relationship building. Nothing seriously offensive of upsetting happens in this super low stakes read.
I enjoyed the confrontation with her antagonists, . They already felt pretty villainous, and that climax felt pretty satisfying, even if rather low stakes (though that's the point of a cozy novel, low stakes).
I had a few issues with the story and I'm honestly waffling if I'm giving this too high a star mark (at just under 3 stars). The biggest problem I had with this story was staying in it. I often found my brain wandering and had to reread pages or paragraphs. Something in the book would spark a thought and my brain would run off and suddenly I'm a page later an no idea what's happening. This tends to only really happen in books that are rather repetitive or not that interesting to me. I did find some errors that I emailed the author about, those did not affect my rating surprisingly.

My rants:
The spice:
An established pack but no Swordplay?: I'm hesitant to put this behind a spoiler tag, only because I would have wanted to know this before reading the book..
Backdoor Spice (Anal):
She screams:
The world building:

I recieved an early copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review.

🎶 I just needed company now. Yeah, I just needed someone around 🎶

Cali (h) is ready for a fresh start - and a quiet life. Becoming the new librarian in the cozy town of Lakeside Point is the perfect escape. No drama, no pressure… just books, peace, and maybe a cat or two. But when a surprise snowstorm leaves her stranded on a remote road, Cali is forced to seek shelter in the nearest house - and finds herself snowed in with three irresistibly charming men.

"We were just discussing you, little thief," the alpha who opened the door purrs, his voice low and smoky, wrapping around the words in a sensuous embrace.

"Do you smell that, Seth?"

"Perfection, Bax," the one called Seth rumbles.

Listen, I usually love omegaverse romance because it’s comfy. But this one fell a little short for me. There were a few reasons why, and a big one was the lack of development in the romance. I get the idea of sensitive scent-matching and just knowing right away. That’s part of the genre, and I’m not against it. But here, there was no real buildup to the relationship itself. She was snowed in, couldn’t get her car out, and suddenly one of the love interests shows up on page three. Then he loses his sense of smell (because of the cold), and the rest of the story is just him telling his pack that he found the one while obsessively trying to find her again. I wanted more tension, more emotional pull - something to show why these two people connected beyond instinct. The romance also leaned heavily on telling us what an omega needs and how to treat her. It felt more like an instruction manual than a story at times. As someone who already reads omegaverse, it was a little redundant and pulled me out of the moment. I wanted to feel the connection, not read about how it’s supposed to work.

Connor was out here explaining the science behind scent-matching so Cali could understand why they wanted to court her. I’ll pass. I don’t care, and honestly, it was boring. I’m not here for a biology lesson. I’m here for tension, chemistry, buildup - none of which happened. And then when she randomly went into a mini heat break? That was my last straw. It was so sudden and jarring that I literally face-palmed. There was no warning, no lead-up, just a sudden shift for drama’s sake, and it pulled me completely out of the story.

I’ll be real, I probably won’t remember a single thing about this book by next week. Nothing about it pulled me in. The dialogue was painfully cringe, and there was just no buildup to anything. Not great, not good. It felt flat from start to finish, like it was trying to hit all the expected scenes without giving me a reason to care. This one’s getting scrapped from my omegaverse recommendation list. It didn’t do it for me, and I wouldn’t tell anyone else to pick it up either.

3.75 ⭐️ THIS WAS SO CUTE BUT SO SHORT!

Seriously, right when I thought stuff was getting good, the book was over. Like, boom, epilogue for you.

I feel like my only critique was that there really wasn't time to fully flesh out each member of the pack, so even though the were very different physically, I could've used some moer instances of their personalities shinny through.

Still, this book is just fluffy, cozy with some spice here and there. There's really no build up to a big, bad, third act problem, so that's all good. There's some conflict with the FMC's family, but it only made the book better, tbh.

This was so cute! It definitely felt like a first book and did give a lot of details of what the omegaverse world is, which I didn't really need, but it's great for beginners to the genre! This focused on the heroes all courting the heroine, which was cute!

If you are going to preface your book with an explanation of what OV is, then you don't need to explain it over and over again within the pages. Readers aren't stupid. Beyond that, this desperately needed developmental and copy editing.

MFMM. No virgins. A very soft, safe, easy read. The spice is very tame and short. I felt like there was a lot of telling me about talking versus actual dialogue.

Calliope (28/Auburn Hair/Omega) Introverted Librarian.
Connor (?/Red Head/Alpha) The Caretaker.
Bax (?/Brunette/Alpha) The Protector. Clara’s cousin. Mixed ethnic background?
Seth (?/Sandy Blonde-Brown Hair/Alpha) The Goofball. Golden Retriever Energy.

Cute, easy read but kinda boring tbh.

Multi pov
h28, H’s idk
No owd/omd- well the h’s ex turns up with her parents towards the end but she tells him she doesn’t want him back and that’s it really. It’s her parents that cause more drama.
Scent matches
No third act breakup

It was a cute story. Once again the way that the omegaverse is executed is not my favorite (much prefer Asian novels, that develop it much better).
Basically this book was insta love, lots of spice, so everything else gets rushed. But their dates were cute, and the setting was cute. So if you are looking for a low angst super spicy book, this is not a bad choice. I just wished the relationship went slower, that it got developed, some buildup to the intimacy, idk.

Yes yes yes! I absolutely devoured this book. Three chapters in and I had to force myself not to stay up to read the whole thing!

I loved Cali! She was so sweet and hesitant about finding her scent matches but she didn't let it hold her back. You can tell she's working hard to grow and move past her insecurities.

All of the men were obsessed the moment they caught a whiff of Cali's scent! A pack of all golden retrievers who knew it would work?! And don't let the golden retriever title fool you they're all experts in the bedroom.

Throw in a little town drama and a whole lot of fluff you have the perfect-quick comfy read right here!

I can't wait for all of the other girls' stories, I wonder who we'll get next!

If your looking for a sweet fluffy omegaverse with only a hint of angst, this book is for you! Cali is sweet and adorable and her Alphas are a bunch of golden retrievers! She has come from a bad relationship to a small town in Michigan (my home state!). She makes new friends and meets new alphas who help her with her insecurities and show her how she should be treated!
This cozy omegaverse is a great read!

Read in one sitting!! This was so sweet, and I absolutely love the low conflict nature of this story(: deducted a star mainly because IF SOMEONE HAS THREE BOYFRIENDS, I'M GONNA WANT THE BOYFRIENDS TO BE BOYFRIENDS. Glaringly heterosexual, and two of the pack members are brothers by adoption. Will this stop me from reading the new installment that comes out tomorrow? Fuck no.

DNF 50%. For a book in the genre of people with wolf senses and a minority of special women who court groups of men for orgies based off how good they smell, that was incredibly boring.

If you’re familiar with omegaverse, I do not recommend.
There’s a synopsis of the genre expectations in the beginning for newcomers, but she continues to teach and explain throughout.
We knooowww. We get ittttt.

Why would any of these lessons and information be a part of their general internal thoughts or conversations when it’s known and normal information in their world?

One guy is even explaining scent matches to her 23% in, and she tells us, ‘I know this, but I still let him explain.’
Why?!
He thinks you’re an idiot, stinky.
And I’m pretty sure the author does, too.

They go on and on internally about expectations and possibilities for relationships between different rankings and stipulations in their physiology as if it’s a business presentation within their brain.
It’s just so incredibly unnecessary.
We can fill in the gaps. We got it.

It’s like a textbook, which I’m sure the rigid librarian main character would adore to hear.
She’s so uptight that I barely withstood it.
Her personality is that of a saltine cracker.

The unicorn print panties don’t fit her characterization at all, by the way.
They only made that scene creepy.

Also, it’s a heat spike, not a break.
She used them interchangeably, only adding to my annoyance, when it’s only one thing at a time.
Spike = on. Break = off.
If you’re going to teach against our will, at least do your research first.

She even ‘taught’ us what “snow birds” means, as well as the term people in Michigan call sandwiches (I forgot it already because I disliked the delivery)
It’s very patronizing.

Here’s a lesson:
“I dump my come into her” is a heinous combination of words that are sure to ruin any temporary enjoyment out of an already strange end to the event.
An hour long knot?? Great heavens.

There is just so much wrong here, and even making it halfway was an admirable effort on my part, if I do say so myself.

Perfectly cozy, relatively drama free and easy going…and wonderfully spicy :-)
I was looking for a comfort read and this one did the trick. The guys recognize Cali as their mate right away and this book is basically them wooing her. Super sweet and all the guys are truly caring. And let’s not forget the smutty parts! It was just what I was looking for.
Sit back, relax and read this book!

Safety:
- No OW
- OM: h’s ex comes into town and wants her back. The Hs take care of it.
- No cheating (RH, so 3 guys with one girl. No jealousy)
- No separation / no third act break up

A gentle, feel-good take on the omegaverse—with unexpected depth

“A Pack of Cozy” by Veronica Samek delivers exactly what the title promises: a low-angst, heartwarming omegaverse story with found family vibes and a focus on emotional connection over heat.

What really stood out for me was the “political” dimension of the omegaverse worldbuilding—especially the nuanced way the author explores the societal roles of alphas, betas, and omegas, and the stigma caused by misunderstanding or ignorance of the other designations. It added weight and realism to a genre that’s often more focused on instinct and spice.

This story takes its time. There’s no rush into instalove or lust; instead, we get to watch the characters date, court, and build trust, which I found refreshing. The FMC’s journey into a new life and her bond with a warm, diverse group of friends gave off lovely found-family energy.

While the multi-POV narration helps build emotional depth, I did feel like the relationship between the three alphas lacked development. Their shared history is mentioned, and they seem united in wanting a future with the omega, but their connection with each other didn’t feel as strong or convincing. In an omegaverse story centered on creating a family, I was hoping for a bit more intimacy or vulnerability between them.

Still, this is a cozy, feel-good read, perfect for a weekend escape. If you’re looking for an omegaverse romance with emotional beats, slow-burn vibes, low spice, and zero drama, this one is for you!

a pack of cozy

Cali is an omega who moved to small tourist town in Michigan as the new librarian. Cali escaped a really toxic relationship with a beta. The first few days in town, a snowstorm surges, and she gets her little car stuck. Connor is the redheaded alpha that lives practically next-door with his pack.

Pack Evergreen owns cafés in several Michigan towns. It consists of three alphas. Connor doesn’t scent the smell of the Cali upon their initial meeting. When he goes to the library to pick up some books for his pack mate Bax he smells his scent, match Omega and it drives him crazy. Bax is an alpha who loves to read and absorb information. Seth is the final Alpha and he is a lumber snack.

The pack have a lot going against them as far as Cali is concerned. Her mental abuse reaches no bounds and they have to overcome years of abuse.

I loved this story. This was a pretty good debut story for a new author and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

So Sweet and Steamy!

I loved this first book the the Omega Book Club series from Veronica Samek. The characters are fantastic. The instant friends, my dream to happen when moving to a new small town. Hunky alpha’s obsessed with your scent…priceless!
Cali has been through the wringer with a cheating ex fiancé and parents that are out of touch with what omegas need.
Escaping to beautiful frozen northern Michigan was apparently meant to be when her scent sensitive pack match sniff her out. Literally…lol. The chemistry…hot. The way Conner, Bax & Seth love on her and make her see what they see in her, swoon! Super sexy, fun and booyah moments in this book. Easy afternoon read! Enjoy.
PS - Go Michigan Authors! Loved all the town references!
