Greatest Love #4

His Greatest Treasure: Greatest Love, Book 4

Rate this book
Oliver Bateman is a jerk.

It's been a decade since I've seen him last, and while time has been generous with his outrageously good looks, it wasn't kind to his attitude. He was born grumpy, so I don't know why I expected our first meeting as adults to go any differently.

The only thing worse than him not recognizing me is being stuck as his neighbor for the foreseeable future. We don't get along, and even my daughter's infatuation with him can't keep my temper from flaring when he purposefully pushes all my buttons just to get a rise out of me.

Yet even as I remind myself of that, it's obvious that I haven't had anyone bring this type of reaction out of me in years. It feels almost as good as the first brush of his hands on my skin and breath on my lips. He brings me out of my shell and reminds me that Mom doesn't have to be my only label.

It's difficult to create a new life for yourself when you have ties to one that you can't shake free of. But when Oliver sets his mind to something, there's no way of stopping him from accomplishing it. And when he decides he wants me and my daughter, I let him take his best shot.

Turns out he only needed one. And now, I want him right back.

Honestly enjoyed every second.

I love a “he falls first” trope when done right. He’s also broody and sweet? Love it. Not too much drama, the writing style is fun. Love the approach the author took to honest communication and vulnerability.

Sports romance? Maybe, kinda? Sports is in the picture, but not actively. It’s a FIREFIGHTER. Do with that what you will 😘

There’s spice, so if that’s your thing then you’ll enjoy. If it’s not, and I read it again, I’ll try to list the chapters so you can skip!

Overall, 10/10 would recommend.

This was really great and I was loving it UNTIL the dumbass third act breakup. It was honestly stupid af and I didn’t understand the purpose of it. All it did was waste the last 20% of the book with them not being together. Her reason made zero sense and it really pissed me off. I didn’t even want to read it anymore because I was loving it so much and then she had to break up with him for the sake of stubbornness. Annoying.

One thing I can also count on with a Hannah Cowan book is that I am going to have a great time, she is going to make me feel some feelings and I am going to fall in love with the MMC. His Greatest Treasure is no different when it comes to those expectations. I absolutely loved this one. The banter was top tier!!

This story follows Oliver and Avery. Avery is back after so many years away and ends up being neighbors to Oliver.
UGH…their banter was soooo good. I am still thinking about it days later. I loved watching their relationship bloom from enemies to friends to lovers.
Oliver was everything. I am such a sucker for a grumpy MMC and Oliver is grumpy. But he is also an acts of service man. The way he would literally drop anything to be there for Avery and/or her daughter made me melt. He had been pining after her for a long time and I was so happy for him that he got his HEA.
Avery is such an independent FMC. She def does not need a man but I loved watching her growth as a character and gradually let her walls down and open up to Oliver. When you find out his nickname…I squealed!!!
And cannot forget to mention Nova. She was such a little spitfire and loved her relationship with Oliver. It was so sweet and made my heart melt.

I absolutely love this series by Hannah and I never want it to end. I am so excited to see what is next. Thank you to Hannah and team for the eARC.

eARC REVIEW: 4.5 ⭐️ I am SO happy to be back in Hannah’s Greatest Love series. This is one of my favorite second gen series I’ve ever read! The way the found family that was created in the first gen just keeps growing and growing is so fulfilling.

Avery is the single mom who does it all. She is raising her daughter Nova to be kind, strong, and independent. But after years of being cut off from her past and support system, Avery moves her and Nova to a house in a new city for a fresh start. She soon finds out that some things never change, and it’s ok to ask for help.

Oliver is the quiet, but fiercely protective fire fighter who treats his crew like family. He is strong and dependable, but hasn’t given much thought to settling down. But that all changes when he gets a shock of a lifetime when new neighbors move in next door.

To say these two get off to a bumpy start is an understatement, but it leads to some of the greatest push/pull banter! And once Oliver figures out who Avery is, he’s a man on a mission. They have a strong connection and want to see where things lead, but with Nova being involved they have to tread carefully. I really appreciated the tender moments we got with Oliver + Nova. And Hannah’s depiction of motherhood was spot on. She kept it real. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows y’all. Parenthood is hard.

Lastly I love, love, LOVED that we got to see all of our favorite people, but that we also got a Tyler AND a Matt chapter POV! Perfection 🤌🏻

I loved Oliver and Avery!!! 🥰

I’ll be honest, I didn’t enjoy His Greatest Muse that much, so I put this book off for a while… But wow, I regret waiting because this one was SO much fun!

Oliver is the ultimate grump-to-everyone-but-her hero (if we ignore the beginning of the book for a sec 😂). The fact that he had a crush on Avery for years and then, after 10 years apart, it all comes rushing back, and he goes for it 100%, had me absolutely swooning.

And Avery… She’s such a warrior. Even though it’s fiction, I couldn’t be prouder of her. She’s strong, inspiring and so easy to root for.

Also, can we talk about Nova?! She’s the cutest, and honestly, I want her as my daughter 🥹💗.

What to Expect:
- Childhood Friends to Lovers
- Single Mom
- Flower Shop Owner FMC
- Firefighter MMC
- Grumpy x Grumpy
- Hilarious Pranks
-"It's Always Been You"
- Slow Burn
- Found Family

One thing I know for sure is that Hannah Cowan's books always have me reading non-stop and refusing to put the books down. His Greatest Treasure is no different. I loved this story so much. I adore Avery and Oliver. They had such fun banter, and the pranks made me laugh out loud. Banter as foreplay? I'm here for it! I couldn't get enough of Oliver and his sexy, protective, grumpy self. He is so swoony and cares so much for Avery. Oliver did so many small things that showed how much he loved his girls. I love a man who prioritizes his family and has a great relationship with his mom.

Avery is so relatable. She is strong, independent, and a wonderful mother to Nova. I enjoyed watching her character grow as she learned it’s okay to trust others and understand she doesn't have to always do things on her own. I'm a sucker for a childhood friends turned lovers situation, and this one was delicious. I loved that although they've spent many years apart, they both remember small things about each other. It was so sweet! Nova is the cutest, and I loved her relationships with Avery and Oliver. Avery, Oliver, and Nova will forever be in my heart.

This story is so heartwarming, and I loved the warm family feel of this book. There were so many moments that made me smile. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Thanks to Hannah Cowan for the gifted eARC. Opinions expressed are my own.

4.5⭐️ Hannah is the queen of writing the most swoon worthy MMCs and this book was no exception. Oliver is a walking green flag and I loved him so much!

Oliver is a grumpy AF firefighter and has had a crush on Avery since they were kids. Avery had no idea of this crush, but when she moves back to town and becomes Oliver’s neighbor, he can’t stay away from Avery or her daughter. The connection between Oliver and Avery was undeniable and once they both gave in to their feelings, there was no holding back. The love Oliver had for Avery was so sweet, but the fact he also loved her daughter just as much - it was perfect! 🥹

I loved Avery as a FMC! She was such a strong single mom and did everything she could to provide a safe and healthy environment for her daughter. She was sassy and the banter between her and Oliver had me laughing out loud.

So many moments I found myself tearing up at how beautiful this story was. This is one of my favourite single mom romance and definitely a top Hannah book! 💕

6/5 ⭐️s

Hannah Cowan’s number one talent - writing a banger of a book and making me fall in love with the MMC wishing he could be real.

Oliver Bateman, you sure were close to knocking Noah out of the number one spot… but Noah will always be the LOML.

I was NOT prepared for Oliver Bateman to be this grumpy, alpha hero he was but MY GAWD. That man had me wrapped around his finger. He was broody and grumpy, but sweet and soft towards Avery & Nova. He was the perfect man. I love when they’re down bad for their girl, or girls in this case. I will ALWAYS adore the grumpy x grumpy trope. It’s so underrated.

Avery was such a strong and fiesty FMC - i loved her. The attitude and banter she gives Oliver is *chefs kiss*. She was an amazing mother to Nova and did everything she could to provide and life Nova would love. I adored their relationship.

The childhood crush aspect DID IT for me. I love when Oliver finally realizes that his neighbor is the obsession of his childhood. He remembers things about her from then, but also learns new things and it’s the cutest.

This series will always be my favorite by Hannah. There is not a SINGLE skip.

There are two problems I have with this book.

1 - it’s not a book-worthy kind of love story.

If you were having coffee with Avery and Oliver one day and you’d ask them: „so how did you guys meet?” and then those two told you their story, you’d never say that this should be a book. Or even a Hallmark movie. You’d just smile and nod politely, because it’s simply a nice love story, like many others.

They knew each other as kids, had a crush on each other, but nothing came out of it back then and then they reconnected years later, fell in love and the rest was history.

There’s basically nothing happening here. No angst, no drama, no tension, no conflict… nothing stands out in this book in terms of a plot. I’m not even sure what the plot was.

It was just two people being attracted to each other and letting that attraction naturally evolve into a relationship. That’s it.

You could summarize it over that aforementioned coffee in les than 10 minutes. So, this book could have been an email.

2 - Hannah Cowan has a tendency to write characters whose backstory doesn’t match their character arc.

In this case, you have a kid from a loving family who suddenly has a desperate need to be overly independent, to the point that she hides from friends and family for years to make sure she’s totally on her own.
It doesn’t make sense for Avery to be that way. She had no reason to develop such strong inability to rely on others, considering her background.

Overall, it’s the kind of book that you forget all about the moment you put it down and if somebody asked you what it was about days later, you wouldn’t be able to say, because nothing about it stands out.

This is the kind of book I want to reread immediately. The kind where I wonder what the characters are doing throughout the day because that’s how involved in their lives I felt and how invested I am. I want to watch a show of their lives forever.

So imagine this, you grow up with the coolest group of guy friends and one of the brothers has a childhood crush on you. Well you and your family moves from Canada back to Sweden so dad can pursue his prof hockey career.

You move back, but with your now 8 year old daughter and your firefighter neighbor happens to be the same man who had a crush on you over a decade ago but get this, he doesn’t remember you. 😳

This book had me in a chokehold and I deeply love every single character.

INFINITY STARS OH MY GOD

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE🥹🥹

Oliver Bateman is the love of my life. I would do literally anything for this man. I’m obsessed. I love EVERYTHING about him

He has been in love with Avery Miller for most of his life. But when she comes to visit with a boyfriend in tow, he decides he’s over her.

9 years later she’s back in Vancouver… and his new neighbor. Oh and with her 7 year old daughter😅

He is SOOOO grumpy with everyone except for Avery and Nova and this just melted my heart. Like literally the man could do ANYTHING and I’d be in love.

I don’t even know what else to say- I can’t put into words how much I love this book and Oliver. Definitely my favorite in the series🥹🥹

AHHH OLIVER BATEMAN LADIES AND GENTLEMENNN

hannah killed it yet again. we get spicy, banter, fluff, tension, literally she delivers every damn time!!! i recommend going into this series having read the parent's because reading experience will be a 10/10!!

This story centers around Oliver and Avery. After being away for many years, Avery returns and ends up living NEXT DOOR to Oliver. Their back-and-forth pranks were absolutely fantastic, i literally cannot with them haha.

Oliver’s character was something else, we don't see much about him until this book and ughh our broody man had me on my knees. he's broody and shows love through acts of service. The way he would drop everything to help Avery or her daughter made my heart melt. He had these feelings for her for so long, and I was thrilled to see him finally get his happy ending.

Avery, on the other hand, is a fiercely independent WOMANNN. Her character development was beautiful as she slowly let her guard down and opened her heart to Oliver. Oliver just knew how to remind her of her power and i loved seeing them love one another. Also can't leave out miss nova ahhhh and her bond with oliver was something else.

thank you hannah for letting me arc read i loveyouuuu!!

Oliver and Avery!! I love second generation series, and Hannah does them so well! These two were friends when they were younger. They saw each other every summer when Avery moved away. Fast forward, Oliver is a firefighter who is annoyed with his bombshell new neighbor and her little girl. Oliver has no clue that is new neighbor is the girl he crushed on when he was younger, but he’s about to find out!

I enjoyed their chemistry, pranks, and Oliver’s desire to know Avery as an adult. Her daughter took a liking to Oliver and he made sure to be a supporter for her, without overstepping his boundaries. Avery needed someone who saw her for more than just a mom, and TRUST me, Oliver made sure to help her bring out her inner woman. I loved seeing Avery fall back into the extended family fold. As someone who was used to relying on herself and feeling like the outsider who moved away, it warmed my heart to see Avery realize that everyone missed her and she didn’t have to do life by herself anymore.

I can’t wait for Jamie’s book next!!

What an amazing single mom trope story! Seriously Hannah knocked it out of the park!
Oliver Bateman is a legit gentleman. He is so kind(when he wants to be) and compassionate. A full blown acts of service man. He would drop anything at the drop of a hat to help those he loves. He has been pining over Avery for over a decade and it finally pays off.
Avery is a strong independent woman who don’t need no man, but slowly realizes just because she doesn’t need one doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve to have someone who will fall at her feet. Her growth throughout the book was so good.
The relationship Oliver has with Nova is so pure and I ate up every scene they had together.
I was reeled in from the beginning!

Oliver Bateman, I love you 🫶🏼😭. I love this little family so so much!!!

I’m such a sucker for second chance. Make her a single mom and his childhood crush? PERFECT. Her life brought her back to her hometown to start over with her daughter, away from her horrible ex. Fate made it to where she’s next door neighbors to the grumpy firefighter.

They get off to a really bad start, and it’s clear he doesn’t recognize her. So, she lets it play out. Prank wars, almost-fires, and one big realization on his part leads them to slowly become more 🥹.

Once he falls for them? HE IS DOWN SO BAD. He loves and respects them both so much and it’s so refreshing to see.

Tropes: firefighter x single mom • small town • second chance • hates everyone but THEM • prank wars • forced proximity • protective MMC • age gap (she’s older) • second chance

Just wow! Hannah is really making this one of my favorite series, and the men in her books 🔥🥵🥹😍

- She’s older 30/26
- Childhood crush from H
- Single mom (7 y daughter)
- Firefighter
- Neighbors
- Prank war

This book was so cute, fun and lovely! The number of times I rolled around screaming and giggling about this man!!

Oliver did not disappoint, the broody neighbor who didn’t recognize his childhood crush right away - and to his defenses, last time he saw her almost 10 years ago she had black hair, a ton of eyeliner and a nose ring, and now she’s blonde and with a daughter. Because he didn’t want to see her with another man he asked his family not to talk about her sleuth him present, so he had no idea of her daughter or that she wasn’t with her ex anymore.

But once he discoveres who she is and all, he understands why he can’t get the thoughts of his neighbors out of his head, and will do everything in his power to be the man for “his girls”’

Safety:
- h broke up with daughters daddy 4 years ago because he never was there as a parent with her. The condom broke. Been celibate since.
- Some omd with him. He wants to change the custody agreement because he’s jealous of h and H
- Before she met him, she dated a lot when she moved away from Sweden.
- Not one for ONS, has dated, but never been in love before
- Been celibate “a long time”, calls him self almost a virgin. He keeps mostly to himself self and his job, doesn’t go out often. So no playboy or been with a lot of women.
- Absolutely no owd

Not a third act break up, but she needs to figure the custody with her ex alone, and asks for space. It’s about five days, and in that time, he helps her finish up the project in the flower shop.

Epilogue 1 year later, married and 3 months pregnant.

𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 (𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘣): 𝘬𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘭𝘺.
excuse me while i go cry in a corner over this definition of Oliver and his love for “his girls” 😭 Hannah wrote such a real, raw, yet heartwarming story that truly made me feel all of the feels. it will be living rent free in my head and not leaving anytime soon (which is great because if what you focus on you create, i’d love to create a direct replica of Oliver Bateman that can take care of me too please and thank you!!!)

tropes:
- grumpy x grumpy
- childhood friends to neighbours to lovers
- single mom
- firefighter MMC
- “it’s always been you”

the word that i would use to best define this book is PRECIOUS. the way that Oliver & Avery’s relationship progressed from “we can’t stand each other” to “we’re can’t live without each other” was executed perfectly. their banter was top tier, their prank wars were hilarious, their tension was hot, and their admiration for each other was so sincere. i love that they had a shared history from when they were childhood friends and felt it added a lot of depth to their story.

ladies and gentleman… Lieutenant Bateman🥵 wowza. this man may be hot and very good at putting out fires and all (lol) but i think the hottest thing about him is how much he shows up for the people that he loves. if you’re an acts of service girlie like myself, you’re gonna be frothing at the mouth over how much he cares and WANTS to help in any way that he can. and when you see how he interacts with Avery’s daughter Nova??? you’re likely going to melt into a puddle on the floor like i did.

as someone who is a chronic people pleaser and has a VERY hard time asking for help herself, i was pleasantly surprised to have this represented in Avery’s character. my stubbornness and tendencies to want to do things alone were very much exposed while reading this book (thanks for that Hannah lol) but i appreciated it nonetheless. witnessing Avery’s growth throughout this story as she got to know and trust Oliver and let him back in was a beautiful thing. once her walls finally came crumbling down, he made sure that he was her and her daughter’s safe place to land🥹

thank you again to bestie Hannah for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! as sweet and precious Oliver said so himself, “you will always be enough for the people who love you." you and your love stories will always be more than enough my friend🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

★★★★★. I loved this book and I hate myself for waiting so long to open it. The unrequited crush on both ends was everything because you are telling me this man had a crush on her for YEARS but waited the perfect moment to tell her only for her to come back with a boyfriend. I absolutely loved the single mom trope here and how Hannah didn’t push the kid onto others and Nova was adorable.

Oliver, ugh perfection. I loved him right away. He loved Avery loud and he never was shy about it. He lost her once and he was not losing his girls again. His immediate reaction of wanting to take care of Avery because nobody ever did was EVERYTHING. Him immediately loving Nova as his own and making sure she was happy and safe was perfect. His actions of showing love instead of the words when it wasn’t needed was quite literally the most perfect thing ever.

Avery, I loved her. I understood her not accepting help because she was so used to not getting any from the baby daddy. When she really needed help i was so glad she called Oliver right away without even hesitating. I absolutely loved how strong she was and didn’t allow anyone to talk down on her. How she gave it back to Oliver was hilarious. I felt bad for her when Oliver didn’t remember her because she always remembered him and was thinking about him. Her little grudge about that was so real like same. I loved reading her opening up and loving Oliver. She was an amazing mother to nova and put her daughter first!

I am very interested in the others and the parents. This book and from what I’ve seen all the others are safe so I’m happy about that!

“Why do you want to help me so badly?” I blurt.
He balances a hand between us, fingers strained and curled as if he’s fighting to keep from touching me. I’m devious enough to contemplate grabbing it myself, but I don’t.
“I’m making up for lost time. I couldn’t stop if I wanted to.”

“I’m tense as I stare across the shop at where she leans, waiting for her to tear her attention away from the bottle. “He’s a fool.”
“He is. Nova deserves better.”
“She’s not the only one.”
Our gazes catch when she looks up. I take two steps forward, that draw between us demanding I get closer. She blinks slowly, lashes fluttering over tired, pale blue eyes.”

what an absolute treasure this whole book is. from the very beginning, you can’t help but get sucked into all that is oliver, avery and nova and watch their beautiful family bloom.

hannah combined oliver and avery’s close proximity and grumpy x grumpy personalities and created the most delicious banter-filled tension. whether it was jello fights and other hilarious prank wars, or their sweet and spicy moments when their magnetism finally snapped, these two have you down BAD for the both of them.

oliver bateman is 100% his father’s son. blunt and grumpy but just as possessive and caring with a heart of gold. despite being a natural grouch, this man fell hard for avery and nova, and seeing his entire demeanour soften when they were around was so damn swoon worthy. he cares for his girls with his whole soul and will drop anything and everything to make sure they’re safe and happy.

i love how much nova loved her ollie from the beginning. this whole book is so wholesome but their moments were truly some of my favourites. they have the most beautiful relationship and i love that nova found the father figure she deserved in oliver.

avery miller is a sassy, strong and independent queen. she is the BEST mom to nova, but still struggles through the reality of motherhood and single parenthood, and tries to handle everything herself. i loved how real avery’s struggles were and the journey she went through in learning to trust and lean on others. she has a whole village in the SHT gang and watching them love and support both avery and nova had me 😭

oliver and avery’s relationship will always be one of my favourites, and the way it went from a childhood crush to the most beautiful family is EVERYTHING. they match each others freak so well, and nova is the perfect, sweet girl for the both of them.

i’m a sucker for single parent romances and this is by far one of my all time favourites. will forever be a comfort read for me because these characters truly feel like home. hannah smashed it once again 🤍

hannah delivers EVERY SINGLE TIME
when it was announced she would be giving us book 4 in the greatest love series i practically started levitating . This series is so near and dear to my heart like these characters are my family fr.

This story follows Avery and Oliver, Oliver is a lieutenant fireman and Avery has just gone through a breakup with the her weird controlling yet absent ex and is now a single mom who has moved back and is now neighbors with oliver. I love these two so much because they’re both GRUMPS, and it ends up being the most hilarious thing. Oliver is your typical grumpy man on the outside but big heart and protective nature on the inside and Avery was a sunshine who also happened to also be grumpy. She was an independent woman, she loved her daughter nova so wholeheartedly and watching them both make space in their lives for oliver who ends up being the glue they needed.

I adored Nova she very much was a perfect combo of Avery and Oliver personality wise, She was truly giving oliver a run for his money. These characters were just meant for one another, I love a good found family series and this one just brings on the water works every single time. Oliver and Avery were just made for one another and this is definitely one of my favorite books from the series.

I’m not sure if it’s just me, because I LOVED the other three books, with the third actually being my favorite so far of the series, but I found this one boring. I had an incredibly hard time getting through it, especially once it hit 60%. The slow burn was almost too slow so it got redundant and I started getting annoyed with both Oliver and Avery. Maybe it’s because book three was so perfect it’s really hard to top that? Not sure.

We have Avery who’s a newly single mom, her daughter Nova and the grumpy next door neighbor Oliver who is a hot firefighter from her childhood. I didn’t love the banter in the beginning, it felt childish versus that usual steamy enemies to lovers. We also have to go a very long time before anything happens between them, which I can appreciate a slow burn, but this was almost too slow. You have some good tropes, slight reverse age gap, single parent, next door neighbor, kind of grumpy sunshine, kind of second chance (he had a crush on her in childhood). We get some drama with her baby daddy and some cute moments with Oliver and Nova but overall there isn’t anything special or memorable about this book, unfortunately. Is it worth it to read if you’ve read the rest of the series? For sure. But if you’re like me and fell in love with the last book, or the ones prior, this doesn’t hold a candle to it.

Hannah darling, your writing has only gotten better with time. I absolutely devoured this book. I probably shouldn’t have because of school but I did nonetheless.

Thank you for the ARC, I love being a part of your team!

I cannot express how great this book was. From the broody firefighter to the Strong & resilient single mom.
The writing was so good and super easy to follow. It all just flowed together.
I loved how broody and asshole-ish he was, because well that’s romance novels for you. I loved how she didn’t take no shit so there’s that.
Everything just flowed and moved along. Nothing was dragged everyone was mature. Well besides the some of the “tricks” they played on each other but even then those were fun to read. My heart was with Nova she is just a little girl who deserves the world and who else better than Ollie to be able to do that. Love the girl 💕

I laughed and squealed way too much and the goosebumps with the spicy moments 😮‍💨

LOVE LOVE LOVE. 100% recommend.

AND PS. I HATE the piece of shh of the damn sperm Donor.

i literally read this in less than 12 hours. i ate this up from page 1 all the way to the end and in typical hannah clean fashion, i am yet again utterly obsessed with a new HC man. everything hannah touched and writes is pure crack.

OLIVER THE MAN THAT YOU ARE. this man is tyler’s son through and through and iM BARKING OVER HIM 😮‍💨 he’s so grumpy and broody but also so fierce with his love and acts of service. he’s genuinely my perfect man and when i figure out how to bring fictional characters to life, i won’t tell anybody… but there will be signs and it will be oliver bateman <3

i would actually die for nova and avery. these two are so special and deserve all the love in the world.

hannah marie cowan i love you with my entire being and you’ve yet again created an unbelievably perfect materpice.
