Carey’s new life is a dream. Complete with monsters.

When Carey Billingham buys Saltwick, a run-down coastguard station on the edge of the North York moors, she thinks it’s the perfect chance for her and her young son Riley to start over.

She’s finally escaped from her ex-husband, now in prison, and her terrifying in-laws. From here on out, it’s just her, Riley, and oceans of peace and quiet.

Or so she hopes.

But renovations are slow and expensive, money is tight, and her holiday rental guests are picky. Then Saltwick is mysteriously targeted by vandals and arsonists.

Worst of all, the man in the yellow raincoat – the man who has been haunting Carey’s dreams for years - is back. She thought she’d laid all her ghosts to rest, but she was wrong.

Carey is a fighter and she’s not giving up on her new life. Even if that means confronting the truth about what’s really going on at Saltwick. A truth so horrifying it will threaten to steal her very sanity.

Someone Like You – the chilling psychological thriller, perfect for fans of John Marrs, Freida McFadden, Nicola Sanders.

✨ ARC READ ✨

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me the ARC.

This was genuinely a brilliant thriller, and not like any I have read before.
It's fast paced and the plot line is good and it has you second guessing yourself at every TURN. And the plot twist at the end is so good and makes everything click into place.

I cannot wait to own a physical copy of the book once it's published!

I liked this. It was haunting and chilling all at once! The concept was good and I loved the psychological thriller element. The book kept me guessing and it was a real page turner.

The book was written well and flowed nicely. The writing was descriptive which was excellent.

I liked the characters. They were all fine and worked well within the story. Carey is the main character. I feel sorry for this poor woman as she is really put through the wringer in this! Will was interesting. I'm not sure how I really felt about him. Riley was a sweet kid and he has a lot going on too.

The book is written in first person from Carey's point of view. This worked perfectly as we got to witness everything unfold along with her.

As a psychological thriller fan, I loved this book. If you love the genre as well then I really recommend it.

This was a really enjoyable read!

It’s a British set thriller that keeps you on your toes the entire time. The lighthouse setting really adds to the thriller element.

The story follows the main character Carey and her autistic son Riley as they navigate a big move to Saltwick and some ongoing, creepy happenings.

It’s a very atmospheric book which is full of twists. I was left feeling very on edge and desperately wanting to read on.

This is the first of Elenas books I’ve read and it won’t be the last!

Overall, I give this 4 stars!

Someone Like You by Elena Frost, Kerry has pinned all her hopes on buying salt wick a run down Coast Guard station she cannot wait to get away from her in prison ex-husband‘s family. Her ex-husband is in jail and her 11-year-old son Riley who is on the spectrum is the main reason Carrie wants to move. they’re a bunch of criminals and despite her exes good heart he eventually turned out to be just like his raising. When her mother-in-law calls wanting to see Riley she abruptly hung up in the woman’s face but it will be something she comes to regret. her dad who is dying gave her the down payment for the Coast Guard station despite their recent estrangement. When strange things start happening she first believes it’s her in-laws but she’s also been seeing a site from her childhood that shakes her to the core and brings up traumatic memories. Who is out to ruin Carey‘s happy ever after and will she live through it? this was a twisty well done read and although they did have some over the top moments they were slight and the narrative is so good you really will just let the OTP moment slide by to get to the awesome ending. The characters or people you will want to root for and so all in all this is an awesome thriller. #BooksSprout, #IncubatorBooks, #TheBlindReviewer, #ElenaFrost, #SomeoneLikeYou,

"Lighthouses offer light and darkness, safety and danger, hope and horror. Contradictory charms. And irresistible."
Carey Billingham has won auction lot fourteen, the Saltwick Coast Guard Station in Whitby, North Yorkshire. This unique and isolated property, perched on the rugged cliffs of Saltwick Bay, represents a fresh start for Carey and her 10-year-old son, Riley. They will be residing in the station master's house. The property also includes two semi-detached, single-story cottages, a coal house, a boiler house, another outbuilding, and a lighthouse. Carey hopes to renovate the cottages as quickly as possible, as she plans to convert them into desirable holiday rentals on Airbnb.

Will this property bring Carey light, safety, and hope, or will it plunge her into darkness, danger, and horror?

This gripping suspense thriller unfolds with surprises at every turn. The intention behind the move was to create a sense of calm and peace. A father hospitalized, unexpected renovation costs, haunting memories of the past, deception, the unexpected return of an ex-mother-in-law with her own demands, and the events that follow all jeopardize the safe haven Carey envisioned. One of the captivating aspects of the narrative is Carey's instinctive and dedicated love for her autistic son, as she strives to maintain consistency and structure amidst any chaos that arises.

What an inspirational debut by this author! It beautifully highlights a woman's resilience as she navigates a whirlwind of challenges that require her focus and immediate action. This story resonates deeply, shedding light on the real-life struggles many women face—struggles that statistics alone cannot fully convey. It's truly an inspiring read!

While not really a slow burn, (it held my interest throughout), I would describe it as an atmospheric mystery. Living on the land of an abandoned lighthouse, this book has a brooding tension that is further haunting as the protagonist’s autistic spectrum son sees ghosts. The protagonist has enough money problems without the constant vandalism which only escalates. She is also trying to repair the run-down properties so she can live and rent out the included cottages. While no earth shattering twists, there is one that you probably won’t guess. I really enjoyed this book. It is my first by this author.

Carey moves with her son Riley to a station masters house, complete with lighthouse, for a new start. And what a start she has! I really felt Carey for everything she goes through. I could feel the despair coming off the pages. Why are these things happening? Is it vandalism, sabotage…..or something more sinister? This is a page turner. My only gripe is I wish it had been a longer story.

I was instantly drawn to this book by the front cover image.

I don't know what it is about lighthouses, but I always feel they have a creepy atmosphere, even before anything gets going.

I'd definitely not be moving into one, with or without my children and especially not when escaping from a controling ex and his family.

The writing style here really creates a great atmosphere straight away and the tension and suspense builds from then on, right up to the final pages.

I loved Carey and felt like I connected easily with her from the off.

Being a mum of an ND child, I think that I had a huge amount of empathy with her and her situation and knew some of the feelings, emotions and motivations she felt.

Riley was also a star for me! Loved the representation!

I spent a very small moment thinking about the wonderful freedom and peace that their new home offered for both mum and son, but I just couldn't see past my ingrained view of lighthouses in thrillers! Nope!

It wasn't long before things started getting creepy and I raced through all the twists and turns to get to the end and find out how things play out and what was really going on.

I loved this!

It might have been my first read by this author, but I'm sure it won't be my last!

Here is my review for Someone Like You by Elena Frost

This was a brilliant psychological thriller read that I got into straight away right from the start of the book. I got hooked as soon as I started to read the story. Carey Billingham has a son, Riley, who is on the autistic spectrum and is ten years old. She has divorced his dad who is in prison and she wants nothing to do with his family. Her father is dying and has moved from a hospital into a hospice so doesn’t have long left. She has managed to buy the Saltwick lighthouse, station house and cottages and is doing them up to make them habitable and rentable. She will live there too with Riley. Riley starts having nightmares and says there is a ghost. Vandals and arsonists start targeting the homestead so the police investigate. Then Carey dreams she sees a guy in a yellow raincoat, she has dreamt of him before only this time, he isn’t in her dreams, he is a real and living person! What is going on? Are Carey and Riley safe or is someone out to get them? This story had me on tenterhooks as I was reading wondering what was going to happen next. This psychological story was superbly written for maximum effect and I just couldn’t put the book down, I had to know what happened next. Carey was a brilliant character who was a strong woman and cared for her son. She had mixed emotions for her dad who had left home when she was a teenager and had come back into her life some years later. Her mum had died too. This character was well written and well thought out. The story is well plotted. I like the author's writing style which is easy to get into. I would like to read more of this author’s books in the future.

Blurb :

Has she found the perfect haven? Or a deadly trap?

When Carey Billingham moves into Saltwick, a beautiful old lighthouse, she thinks it’s the perfect chance for her and her young son Riley to start over.

She’s finally escaped from her controlling ex-husband and his terrifying family. From here on out, it’s just her, Riley, and oceans of peace and quiet.

Or so she hopes.

Then Saltwick is mysteriously targeted by vandals and arsonists. Someone is out to sabotage her new life. But who? And why?

Even worse, the man in the yellow raincoat – the man who has been haunting Carey’s dreams for years – is back. And it seems he is no longer confined to her nightmares but is now a living breathing presence in the real world.

Concerned for her own sanity, Carey is determined to find out what is really going on. But as she draws closer to the truth, she realizes that Saltwick may not be the beginning of her perfect new life – but instead may be home to a horror beyond her wildest imaginings.

Someone Like You

~Elena Frost

Someone Like You focuses on Carey Billingham (FMC), an author and single mother traversing fresh beginnings and haunting secrets alongside her 10-year-old son Riley, who is on the autism spectrum. After a difficult divorce and incarceration of her controlling ex-husband and his family, Carey has purchased a derelict lighthouse station named Saltwick, on the coast of North York. Carey's dream is to renovate the station and it's cottages into a working AirBnB to supplement her writing career. While all this has been going on, her estranged father has shown up out of the blue with a terminal illness.

Instead of being able to focus on fixing up the old lighthouse station, she finds herself unraveling amid eerie disturbances and long-buried truths. Satwick is more than just a fixer-upper – it is balancing between opportunity and ominous decay. Riley is experiencing traumatizing nightmares, there is vandalism going on around the property and now she has seen a man in a yellow rain coat with a lit cigarette in her room. Carey has now gone from fresh start to chaos in what feels like overnight. As the police offer no answers, she is forced to confront whether the danger is external, or something deeper from her past clawing its way to the surface.

Frost has excelled at crafting Carey as a beautiful, intricately carved character. She is full of flaws, resilient and achingly human. Her fears, mental strife yet quiet strength create an emotional anchor allowing readers to relate to her. Through first-person PoV, we are immersed directly in Carey's reality – though her reality begins to twist making us question her reliability. Supporting characters like Riley, Amanda and Will are equally fleshed out adding depth and authenticity to the story.

While Someone Like You starts out as a slow burn, the tension and suspense quickly builds turning this into a compelling and fast-paced psychological thriller. Frost weaves atmospheric dread into the crumbling walls of the station, setting the perfect backdrop for a tale that's as much about personal demons as it is external threats. Each chapter layers in a steady undercurrent of suspense keeping readers on the edge of their seats not expecting the next twist along the way.

Somone Like You is the perfect blend of emotional complexity, haunting setting, and psychological suspense that you feel the sinister intentions just pulsing off the pages. Oh, and that final twist…………

You are going to have to read the book for that one!

This is truly the perfect book for those who love stories that blur the line between reality and perception - Someone Like You is one I highly recommend reading.

Book Review: Someone Like You by Elena Frost
✨ Genre: General Fiction, Mystery & Thriller

📖 Page Count: 218

📅 Date Finished: 12 April
📆 Publishing Date: 11 May 2025

📝 Synopsis (No Spoilers!)

Carey buys a dilapidated lighthouse, looking for a new start for her and her son, Riley. While she’s trying to get it renovated and start a new Airbnb business, her estranged father comes back into her life with a terminal illness. Meanwhile strange things start happening in the lighthouse…

💭 First Impressions

This was an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from NetGalley which I picked based on the cover. This book took me on a bit of a journey. At the end I was really enjoying it but honestly I struggled at the beginning and wasn’t sure if I’d finish. It took a few chapters for me to feel invested and I would’ve liked the story to start at a more action-oriented moment. But after a few chapters, and when dialogue started, I feel like the pace picked up. I was drawn in and was looking forward to reading. I found the twists pretty unpredictable and the characters compelling. The ending was satisfying too.

👥 Characters
The standout character for me was Riley, a ten-year-old struggling with autism. You see him through the eyes of his mum, who is trying to do her best by him. Will, the contractor who works on the renovations is also a likeable character, although sometimes his actions seem a little confusing without a bit of extra back story and explanation.

🌍 World-Building / Setting
The lighthouse is essentially a character in itself - it plays a very important role in the plot. I’m not interested in lighthouses in particular, but anyone who is will love the setting. It was pretty spooky (in a good way)!

✍️ Writing Style

Lyrical, a little dense at the beginning but sharpening later.

🔥 Favourite Moments / Quotes

Will knowing the name of Happy the guinea pig 🐹 ♥️

🎢 Pacing & Plot

See First Impressions - I found the beginning a little slow, but then was hooked later on.

📚 Overall Thoughts

Overall I enjoyed reading about Carey’s journey and spending some time with her and the other characters in this story. I think single parents or parents of autistic children who want to see their experiences reflected on the page will particularly enjoy this book. Anyone interested in lighthouses or old buildings will appreciate the history. Otherwise people with some patience who can appreciate a cosy lyrical psychological thriller. It would be a good book for a train ride at sunset especially along a coast somewhere.

This psychological thriller really knows how to keep you on edge. Carey Billingham buys this old coastguard station (called Saltwick) right on the coast. For Carey and her little boy Riley, it's supposed to be this amazing fresh start. A real escape from some tough times she's been through.

What's the feeling in the first few chapters? When I start reading about Carey and Riley, I'm instantly on their side. I mean, you just want good things for them. They've had a tough time, and you're really hoping this new chapter at Saltwick brings them the peace they deserve. I find myself really caring about what happens to them right away.

But just when you think they might catch a break, things start to get seriously unsettling. It's not just leaky roofs and peeling paint Carey has to deal with. There's a real sense that "someone, or something" is trying to DESTROY her new beginning. You'll be constantly wondering who's doing all this stuff and why they're doing it. No joke. It really makes you think!

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS BOOK?

Elena Frost ( the author) is really clever with how she makes you question what's real and what's just in Carey's head. This creepy figure starts showing up not just in her nightmares, but in her actual life!

- It makes you wonder what's really going on.
- It makes you think if Carey's past is catching up to her OR if there's something far MORE SINISTER at play in Saltwick itself.

Honestly, I am totally hooked trying to figure out what's going on right along with Carey. The story throws something completely unexpected! If you're the kind of reader who loves a book that plays tricks on your mind and keeps you guessing with every single page turn like, you genuinely won't see what's coming ... then grab this book right now! You'll be so invested in Carey and Riley's story that they'll be living rent-free in your head way after you've read the last word.

Elena Frost’s Someone Like You is a gripping, emotionally-charged story that blends domestic drama with psychological suspense, drawing readers into the chaotic and unraveling life of its protagonist, Carey. Full of secrets, tension, and scandal, the novel explores the fragile line between resilience and breakdown with nuance and empathy.

Carey is a compelling central figure—deeply sympathetic and utterly human. As a single mother struggling to care for her son while navigating legal threats from her ex’s family and a growing sense of psychological instability, her story pulls readers into a spiraling storm of doubt and desperation. Frost excels at portraying the mental toll of isolation, stress, and emotional trauma, making Carey’s fears feel real and immediate.

The plot moves at a steady pace, revealing layers of personal conflict, manipulation, and buried truths. The emotional weight of Carey’s journey is balanced by moments of tension and uncertainty, keeping the reader unsure of who to trust—and whether Carey can even trust herself.

Someone Like You is a sharply observed, emotionally resonant novel that will appeal to readers who enjoy domestic thrillers with a psychological edge. With strong character work and a steady undercurrent of suspense, Frost delivers a powerful tale of survival, motherhood, and the complexity of truth.

Someone Like You by Elena Frost was an excellent book, it was well written from start to finish and a great page turner. Once I started to read the first few pages on my kindle I could not put it down. I want to find out more about Carey Billingham is the main character and she buys Saltwick, a run-down coastguard station on the edge of the North York moors, she thinks it’s the perfect chance for her and her young son Riley to start over.

Now, finally Carey has escaped from her controlling ex-husband and his awful terrifying family. But, from here on out, it’s just her, Riley, and oceans of peace and quiet and now living in beautiful surroundings and breathing in fresh air everyday.

Or so she hopes.

The renovations are slow and becoming expensive and Carey's money is becoming tight. Now, Saltwick ihas become a targeted by vandals and arsonists and Carey has no idea why someone is out to sabotage her new life. and business!!!

But by who?

And why is Carey's new home and business that hasn't had a chance to get off the ground!?

WoW. this book is full of brilliant twists and turns throughout and I loved reading it especially as Elena is a new author to me and it will not be the last book I read by her. I enjoyed the way she writes and had me glued to my kindle.

I highly recommend this book.

3.5 stars rounded down to 3

I really enjoyed this debut book! In fact, I couldn't put it down. I decided to temporarily abandon other reads in order to finish this one as quickly as possible, and that rarely happens to me. I do suggest picking this one up for a quick, fun mystery read.

So, in this book, we follow Carey, a single mother who is looking for a fresh start with her son - hence she moves to an abandoned property on the seaside. From there, we see her struggling with some mundane things, like renovations and money issues, and some... well, creepy and wild things, like ghosts and deranged vandalism.

I have to say, this book would have been perfect if there had been less mysteries and stories to follow. I am a critical reader, so I was a bit sad when I realized that some things were mentioned and never explored or explained. I would have loved it if it had been a bit longer or if it had focused on just the biggest mysteries.

Still, it was a short book and it was wild, in the best way. I just wanted Carey to get a breath and my god she just couldn't! This was fun, fast-paced, and intriguing. You should definitely give this book a try - you won't regret it!

Someone Like You by Elena Frost is a mystery/thriller debut that is atmospheric, dramatic and suspenseful.

When Carey finally breaks free from her ex husband, she is looking for a chance to start her life over again with her young son Riley. When she buys Saltwick, a dilapidated coast guard station, Carey is ready for a change of scenery and peace and quiet from here on out. But buying a property like Saltwick comes with its own problems. The renovations are costing much more than expected, and her rental guests are a pain. Add in a touch of vandalism, arson and a man from her past, and Carey's new start is turning into a nightmare.

Wow... Poor Carey could not catch a break!! They say when it rains it pours and it's safe to say this is true for Carey. The book starts off a bit slow, but soon I was flipping the pages, needing to know what happened next! The twists were not predictable, which I liked. Another thing I appreciated was the representation of an autistic child, which is usually not seen as often. Overall I think this is perfect for fans of suspenseful thrillers and compulsive reads!!

Thank you to the author Elena Frost for providing me with an e-copy of this book in return for an honest review. This is a high stakes psychological thriller that will have you guessing throughout.

When Carey moves to Saltwick with her son Riley she is hoping for a fresh start and an escape from her past but when strange things start to happen and no-one believes her she starts to think that maybe something is wrong with her.

From the appearance of strange characters in the middle or the night (I would be haunted for life) to arson, you are on the edge of your seat trying to work out what’s going on and are Carey and Riley going to survive.

Reading this book you get a feel for the level of fear, Carey is facing and you stress for her that no one is taking her seriously, but at the same time do question is it all in her head. This is a read you won’t want to put down. I had so many theories about what was happening and whilst I managed to work out some bits I was still completely surprised by the ending with twists that I did not see coming. Fast- paced, eerie and at times down right creepy this is a thriller like no other.

A brilliantly creepy physiological thriller that you won’t forget.

Title: Someone Like You
Author: Elena Frost
Genre: Thriller
Medium: Ebook
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: Someone Like You is a chilling and emotionally layered psychological thriller that follows Carey, a recently single mother, as she seeks a fresh start for herself and her autistic son, Riley. Hoping to rebuild their lives, she purchases a remote lighthouse complex with plans to turn it into a cozy home and Airbnb. But what begins as a hopeful new chapter quickly turns unsettling—vandalism, strange noises, and Riley’s eerie sightings hint at something far more sinister.
As Carey reconnects with her estranged, terminally ill father and develops a cautious friendship with local contractor Will, long-buried secrets begin to surface. The book is a slow burn at the start, but once the suspense kicks in, it becomes a real page-turner that’s hard to put down. Elena Frost skillfully blends atmosphere, emotional depth, and mystery, delivering a debut that’s both heartfelt and haunting.

This is one of those psychological thrillers where there are times you want to clout the heroine about the ears as she falls apart bit by bit. She and her autistic son have moved to a derelict lighthouse and property that she hopes to turn into a vacation investment. She does not seem to have thought things through clearly but she is desperate to escape her ex-husband’s family who run a little criminal empire that had its tentacles into all sorts of places. Her mother in law, Jean, wants access to her son. Carey is determined to keep Riley out their evil clutches. But almost everything she does seems to pull her closer and closer to the edge. Riley thinks there is a ghost creating havoc. Carey is not sure what it is but it takes a rude awakening to realize just how much the wicked family members will do to take her son away from her.

Unless she can do something and do it quickly, they will have won. It is only then that Carey remembers how strong she is. By the end of the book, her nemeses realize it too. Like I said earlier, there were times when I was frustrated for her but that just shows how invested I was in the story. Five purrs and two paws up.

Carey and her autistic son, Riley move to the property she has bought.
It is the location of an old disused lighthouse. She has Will, a contractor, to do the renovations. From the moment she moves in, there is senseless vandalism, and her son sees 'ghosts'. Carey believes she is losing her mind.

This was an extremely slow plot. The characters aren't well developed, and there is too much mystery about their back stories. Nothing is really explained.
Carey is obviously haunted by something in her past, and her father's disappearance from her life isn't explained at all. Only his reappearance, obviously because he is terminally ill.

This is a debut novel for this author, and it could have been so much better.
The author tries to weave mystery into every page, but it really falls a bit flat.

I award it 2/5 stars/5, rounded up to 3.

Someone Like You by Elena Frost is a mysterious thriller where everything goes wrong!
If you think your life is rubbish and things are not going well, read this book and believe, you will love your life!
I believe that Carey would swap places with anyone because her new life, which was supposed to be her long-cherished dream, turns into a dark, unexpected nightmare where everything goes wrong. And I mean - EVERYTHING!

At the same point, I literally was rolling my eyes and thought, just give her a break! How much can one person take?

The start of the book is more domestic, but the second part of the book turns into an intense thriller.

I loved it!

When Carey buys a rundown coastguard station to escape her nightmare past, she’s dreaming of sea breezes and peace—not ghosts, gaslighting, and a guy in a yellow raincoat who’s straight out of a nightmare.

Elena Frost’s writing is gorgeously atmospheric with just the right amount of unease, like something creaking behind you in an empty room. Carey’s character is raw, real, and quietly fierce, and the slow-build pacing keeps you hooked without feeling dragged—like a thriller wrapped in sea mist.

It’s creepy, it’s emotional, it’s empowering—and it absolutely messed with my head in the best way.

Would I stay at Saltwick? No. Would I read this again with the lights on? Absolutely.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!
This was my first ever ARC and what a way to start it off!! Someone Like You was a super fast paced thriller suspense novel that took you through the love of Carey and Riley. After purchasing a new property, we watch as Carey moves through renovating the space and dealing with some personal issues.

I truly felt like I never knew which direction this was going to take! In the beginning I felt like the story grabbed my attention and I was expecting the story to go one way, as it continued it took a turn and I actually enjoyed the story's ending more than what I was thinking. Any thriller fans who like psychological, page turning stories would love this one!

My thoughts:

I had the opportunity to read this debut psychological thriller by Elena Frost, and it absolutely delivered on suspense, mystery, and tension. Every chapter pulled me in deeper, leaving me piecing together clues and second-guessing every detail 🫣. The atmospheric lighthouse setting added a haunting layer, intensifying the drama. I truly enjoyed this one—it stood out.

That was what Carey had been hoping for for herself and her son, Riley. But soon after she moved into Saltwick, strange this start to happen, from accidents to her former mother-in-law wanting to take away Riley...

I went into the book blindly after reading the blurb and then did stay up half of the night to finish it. Good thing it is my day off today. Very well done.

Would have hoped for some more spooky lighthouse scenes, but besides that, it was a very good book. Elena Frost, I am hoping you'll write more like this in the future!.

Set in a lighthouse in Saltburn, Carey's looking for a new start. She really does seem to be the unluckiest woman imaginable given the events that are unfolding.

I wasn't surprised at what unfolded and who the culprits were. I did think there was more to Will and Amanda so things did turn out to be different in that respect, so I didn't guess everything 😂

Carey's life sounds fascinating in some respects and the lighthouse venture seems amazing if she can shed herself of all the rotten luck that's steamrolled her at the very first opportunity. She's lucky she has Riley and I can imagine things will only continue to get better.

A great page turning thriller, full of suspense and actually quite eerie at times.
I’ve always fancied living in a lighthouse, so lived my dreams through this book.
The story of Carey and her dad was so sad but loved how strong and resilient she is, even when faced with danger and disasters.
A great storyline lots of twists and great characters although I was very suspicious of quite a few of them 😂

A great read for all thriller readers.

This was a great thriller and I couldn't put it down. I loved the haunted lighthouse vibes. Carey is a single mother of an autistic son, Riley. Her plan is to renovate parts of the property to rent it as a form of income. But Carey also feels like she's going crazy. Things are happening and she can't figure out how or why. While she's slowly losing her mind, Riley's father is in prison, but his mother, well, she wants her grandson and is willing to go to very far to get him from her. Carey goes through alot in this book and she started to break. It was just one thing after the other. But it all comes together in the end. It was a quick, fun, little mystery story.
