Even though Ian Graeme has settled into his new normal—stable hand, director, and writer—when his sister, Anni, asks for a favor, he grants it. One simple act of kindness unravels his new life and his fears come back to haunt him in ways he can’t control, and they won’t let him go. One favor leads to another, and he can’t run to save himself this time. He has to stay and face the demons of his past.

“I’ll be here, win or lose.”

“Win or lose?”

He nipped at my lips. “Yep.”

“We’ll see.”

“That’s a vow, Ian. I don’t break those.”

First person, past tense, one POV. MM romance.

"Malcolm was oblivious to the sizzling slice of warm holding up the wall, ready to shoot anyone who dared enter Dad’s barn without permission."

This is book two in a new series, Graeme (family), by Jae Greyn. If you liked Glitter on the Lawn you are going to love Mac. For those of you who are on the fence after reading Glitter on the Lawn, then Mac, book 2, will answer some of the questions you may have had. I know it did for me. Jae paints her stories using words, if you don't pay attention you might just miss something.

The Scottish references and traditions were lost on me but as I read I learned and understood more about what was happening. I can't imagine living in this type of environment where such ingrained rules dictate so much of one's life. No wonder Ian didn't want to go home. Who knew behind book 1 were all these machinations... Will Ian get his way?

Relationship ending, new love or is it lust, familial duties, old traditions die hard, heirs are chosen, clan law's rule all

Wow. This installment took a bit of a 180 from where I thought it was headed. I don’t mind, but it took me a bit to catch up. I guess I didn’t understand the reality of the life that Ian was dumped back in and the expectations of others. I like Ian though. He is so used to setting his own wants and desires to the side and doing things for other people that he doesn’t really think about his own happiness. It takes Finn some time to catch up and figure things out but he does in the end.

This was a really interesting plot!
It took me a while to figure out the 'clan' expectations and to put it into a 'reality' mindset.
In this 'modern' day...I couldn't wrap my head around the 'clan' mentality.
How someone would just go along with something because of past history.

Once you accepted it, I really was pulling for Mac and Finn.
The ending was wonderfully sweet and I really enjoyed their HEA.

Thanks to GRR for this ARC.

This is book two in the Graeme series which does need to be read in order to understand them better, it took me a bit to get my head around this one as it definitely has a twist in the story but does answer some of the questions from book one and it takes us back to old clan traditions and expectations but I did like Mac and Ian and thought that they were good together.

This was a wonderful follow-up to book one. We come to understand the characters and how the clan works on them much better, questions from the first book are answered and there are some new surprises. Things aren't easy for these two guys but they work through things in the end. This is one story I'd love to see a full sequel to catching up with them in maybe ten years.

I'm not a fan of 1st person pov but figured I'd give this book a try. The plot of this book was a bit messy and hard to pick up but once I did it ended up being enjoyable. I appreciated the ending, it was really sweet and made for satisfying story after all.

* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *

Mac is the second book in the Graeme series and must be read in order. I have to say, even after reading the first book I was really lost here most of the time. In the end there is a HEA but what an adventure to get there.
