In Media, magic is a death sentence. Can love help their escape?
In the city of Media, magic is outlawed and enforced with deadly precision. The walls are high, the rules are absolute, and freedom is just a distant dream whispered in back alleys. But not everyone is willing to obey.

Single mother Dr. Malin Neldoreth never imagined her daughter, Ellie, possessed the kind of magic that could get her killed. When Will Hawkson, a rogue smuggler haunted by loss, witnesses Ellie’s powers, he knows the danger—his own sister died for less. Determined to protect her, Will devises a plan to gain Malin’s trust and get them both to safety.

Malin must sacrifice everything to save her daughter. Will must face his past to forge a future. As their bond deepens, they race against time, hunted by enforcers who will stop at nothing to destroy what they fear. Together, they must defy the city, survive the odds, and find hope in one another.

With vivid world-building, emotionally rich characters, and a slow-burn romance woven through edge-of-your-seat action, Escape from Media blends the dystopian danger of An Ember in the Ashes with the raw vulnerability of found family and forbidden powers.

What an absolute masterpiece!
This is by far the best dystopian-fantasy that I have read this year! The attention to detail in the world building is astounding. You can easily picture the world in your mind.

The characters are phenomenal! And best yet they’re also not 20 years old. The characters are well within their mid 30s.
Malin (FMC) is a doctor with a 12 year old daughter. And Will (MMC) is a rebel working on helping people with magic escape the city of Media. Together they try to escape Media while learning how to use their magic and learn about each other.

While Malin and Will relationship is definitely insta-love, they acknowledge it many times and continue to grow together. Will’s past is a bit shrouded in mystery and as we continue on we unravel him bit by bit. There is definitely some smut in this book, but it’s not to heavy and the plot doesn’t revolve around it.

The ending was quite beautiful and I can’t wait to see where Will and Malin’s journey goes!

Brandy Stoker’s Escape from Media throws readers into a world where magic is forbidden—and surviving against a ruthless regime is only the beginning. The City of Media is unforgiving, and when young Ellie’s secret power is exposed, her quiet life shatters in an instant. Her escape, alongside her mother Malin—a doctor discovering her own dormant magic—and the haunted smuggler Will Hawkson, becomes an electrifying journey through danger and hope.

Stoker’s world-building stands out: the oppressive city, with its relentless enforcers and hidden tunnels, feels vividly real, drawing you into every shadow and whisper of rebellion. The characters are layered and deeply human—Ellie’s latent magic, Malin’s fierce transformation, and Will’s haunted past weave together into an emotional trio that carries the story’s heartbeat.

The pacing is tight, balancing action-packed escapes with tender, slow-burn emotional moments that give the narrative real depth. Found family, love under fire, and resilience against oppression—these themes pulse through every chapter.

This book is rich in tension and heart. If you're drawn to dystopian fantasies with a magical twist—think Shatter Me, Red Queen, or An Ember in the Ashes—you’ll find Escape from Media impossible to put down.

Wow… Escape from Media completely stole my heart. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by the danger, the emotion, and the fierce love that drives every moment. Malin’s strength as a mother and Will’s quiet bravery hit me so hard I found myself rooting for them with every page.

The world Brandy Stoker created feels so real, dark yet full of hope. The slow burn connection between the characters felt honest and earned, not rushed, and that made it even more powerful.

It’s one of those stories that stays with you long after you finish. I’m already counting down the days for Book Two in the Echoes of Aloria series!

This was so good, it’s definitely a 4.5 star but not quite close enough to a 5 so I just couldn’t do it! I am so excited that I won book two so I can read that too. Kept my attention the whole way through and I loved the chemistry and relationships between the characters.

Brandy Stoker's "Escape from Media" is a suspenseful treat. This dystopian fantasy whisks the reader away into a world where there are grave risks and fatal consequences.

Will Hawkson's journey is surely a testimonial to resilience and love. His relation with Ellie is one that stands as an emblem of hope in a world seemingly bent on erasing it.

Stoker's writing is evocative and immersive, conjuring a world that is simultaneously terrifying and enchanting. Throughout the story run visual motifs of family, loss, and the power of human connection, skillfully and delicately intertwined.

All in all, "Escape from Media" is a riveting treat and one that will latch on to the hearts of writers and readers of dystopian-fiction-romance genre.

Ever picked up a book and, within a few pages, realized you were holding something that felt hauntingly familiar… yet thrillingly new? That was my experience with Escape from Media. As someone who grew up on the grit of The Hunger Games and the fire of Shatter Me, I felt instantly pulled into Brandy Stoker’s world—a place where magic can kill you, but love might just save you.
Stoker, in her debut, channels years of storytelling rooted in resilience, personal struggle, and the kind of emotional depth that doesn’t shout—it hums. Her background isn’t the usual polished literary path. She’s a mother, a survivor, a woman who balances spreadsheets by day and battles dystopias by night. And this book? It's clearly written from the heart.

In the walled city of Media, magic is forbidden—and not in a "go to jail" kind of way. If you're caught, you die. Will Hawkson, a smuggler haunted by the execution of his sister for using magic, stumbles upon a young girl, Ellie, who unknowingly exhibits magical powers. She could be next. Enter Malin—Ellie’s mother—a doctor with no idea her daughter is gifted, or that she might be too.
What begins as a desperate attempt to flee a brutal regime quickly becomes something deeper: a story of unlikely alliances, unspoken love, rediscovered strength, and the sheer will to survive when everything is stacked against you.

Brandy Stoker’s prose doesn’t rush. It breathes. Her writing is deliberate and lyrical, with a certain tenderness that suits the rawness of her world. She balances tension and emotion with a painter’s touch—never overwriting, never underselling. If you’re a fan of slow-burn, emotionally-charged narratives that build like waves before a storm, you’ll feel right at home here. She knows when to whisper, when to punch, and when to let the silence do the talking.

Will, Malin, and Ellie aren't just characters—they’re people. Flawed, scared, hopeful, and so achingly human. Will isn’t your typical brooding rebel—he’s grieving, scarred, and quietly protective. Malin is not some trope-y damsel or warrior goddess—she’s a mother first, a woman discovering herself second. Ellie is equal parts innocence and danger. What I loved most is the authenticity. No one is perfect. They don’t always make the right choices. But they try. And that’s what makes them unforgettable.

The pacing here is thoughtful. It simmers. It gives you space to feel, to worry, to hope. There are no cheap twists—just gradual revelations that hit harder because you’ve been made to care. The structure weaves past and present seamlessly, letting the emotional stakes unfold layer by layer. Yes, it's dystopian, but this isn't just about rebellion. It's about personal awakenings, quiet revolutions, and the emotional cost of defiance.

This book holds up a mirror to the world we live in. Media’s oppressive control, surveillance, and fear-based politics feel eerily relevant. But more than that, Escape from Media explores what it means to choose love in a world that punishes tenderness. It's about finding family not through blood, but through choice. It's about reclaiming your power—even if doing so could cost you everything.
There were scenes that made my throat tighten. The quiet ones—the looks exchanged, the hesitation before a touch, the way Will watches over Ellie like a ghost trying to protect the living. The emotional current runs deep. I didn’t sob (though I came close), but I felt everything. And isn’t that the mark of a good story?

The biggest win here is the balance. You’ve got oppressive dystopia, believable romance, found family, and magic that feels intimate rather than flashy. The characters are the heart. And the writing? Honest and immersive. Add to that the political undercurrents and moral grey areas, and you’ve got a book that refuses to be shallow.

If you’re someone who craves fast-paced action right from the start, the slower build might test your patience. And while the romance is beautiful, it’s subtle—those looking for dramatic love arcs might feel underwhelmed. But personally, I wouldn’t change a thing. This story needed space to breathe.

This book hit me in a way few dystopians do. Maybe because I’m a parent. Maybe because I understand the quiet desperation of wanting more for the next generation. Or maybe because in a world constantly asking us to choose safety over freedom, this story dared to ask: What would you risk for love?

Escape from Media isn’t just a dystopian fantasy romance. It’s a story about reclaiming your voice, holding onto your heart, and choosing the hard, brave path when it matters most. Brandy Stoker has crafted a world that feels both terrifying and familiar, filled with characters who bleed, heal, and hope.
I’m already counting down to Book Two.

Rating: 4.5/5

Recommended for readers who love quiet rebellion, emotional depth, and the kind of slow-burn magic that sneaks into your bones and stays there.

Would I read it again? Yes. Would I hand it to my daughter when she’s old enough to understand courage wrapped in fear? Absolutely.

Book Review: Escape from Media: Where Magic is Forbidden and Love is Dangerous by Brandy Stoker

Brandy Stoker’s Escape from Media is a gripping, heartfelt tale of forbidden magic, fierce love, and the desperate fight for freedom. Set against the grim backdrop of Media—a city where magic is ruthlessly outlawed and tightly policed—the novel plunges readers into a dangerous world where hope is a precious commodity and rebellion simmers just below the surface.

At the heart of the story is Ellie Neldoreth, an eleven-year-old girl whose accidental use of magic triggers a life-or-death chase. Stoker crafts Ellie’s journey with nuance, portraying her as both vulnerable and astonishingly resilient. Alongside her is Malin, her mother, whose own repressed powers awaken in the face of their dire circumstances. Their bond is beautifully drawn, adding a powerful emotional core to the high-stakes adventure.

The introduction of Will Hawkson—a smuggler grappling with his own ghosts—adds depth and complexity. His tentative connection to both Ellie and Malin evolves slowly, grounded in mutual need and growing trust. The romance between Will and Malin is a slow burn, realistic and tender, never overshadowing the novel’s urgent pace but enriching it with moments of aching vulnerability.

Stoker’s world-building is atmospheric and vivid, capturing the suffocating paranoia of a society terrified of magic. The tension never lets up, and every escape, betrayal, and glimmer of magic feels earned. Fans of An Ember in the Ashes or Legend by Marie Lu will find themselves right at home in this dangerous, richly imagined world.

Verdict:
Escape from Media is a breathtaking blend of dystopian adventure, magical realism, and emotional storytelling. Brandy Stoker masterfully explores themes of freedom, sacrifice, and the fierce bonds of found family. This is a novel that will leave you breathless—and eager for the next chapter of Ellie’s story. Highly recommended for readers who crave danger, heart, and hope all in one.

Escape from Media ✨
Brandy Stoker

Magic has always been something sacred we believed as children and wished we had one too. For us, then and maybe even now it is something auspicious and must be celebrated.
But what if I tell you that it became the reason for people with magical powers to hide, to be suppressed and dead, to lose their family, their identity? Pure disappointment right!

This book, 'Escape from Media' by Brandy Stoker narrates the story of Will Hawkson who lost his family at a tender age just because they had magical powers and they, his parents and his precious sister died right in front of him in his hands.

The incidents scarred him but made him a steel who challenged the Media by protecting and helping people with magic in them.
Malin, a doctor at a community clinic with her daughter lived in their sweet happy home unaware of the sparks that flowed in their blood.
A mission, a connection, a bond and love stronger than destiny brought Will and Malin together.
Now Will has promised, an oath to protect the second chance at family and he was ready to put his life for it.

Will the media find them? What connected Malin and Ellie to Will? Do they stand a chance in a city where the media took magic as sin, something to make killing people legal?

Areas of Strength:
• Great character description
• Fantasy facts with realism
• Perfect blend of drama and magic
• Outstanding execution with story line
• Detailed but not stretched scenes including romantic spice.

The author has beautifully crafted this story from the fiction of fantasy to lure readers in and never let them go.

She has it all in this one book from drama to joy to friendship to grief to love. And romance! Oh boy, she has done an outstanding work with spice, moments so tender that it will make your brain fuzz.

A perfect magical book to bring you the delight of fantasy fiction that will keep you hooked. I can't wait for the second book!

In Escape to Media, Brandy Stoker introduces readers to a dark, dystopian city where magic is a death sentence and resistance means risking everything. Set in the city of Media, the novel follows Will Hawkson—a smuggler haunted by the death of his sister—and Malin Neldoreth, a mother who learns of her daughter's magical gifts too late. When Will witnesses eleven-year-old Ellie using magic, it sets off a dangerous chain of events that forces the trio to flee the city, hunted by merciless enforcers. Together, they must defy a regime that crushes difference, uncover hidden strengths, and learn to trust each other in a desperate bid for freedom.

A gripping mix of action, emotion, and slow-burn romance, Escape to Media is a powerful start to a series that explores found family, forbidden power, and survival under oppression.

1. World-Building:

The city of Media is vividly portrayed as a cold, tightly controlled dystopia where even the whisper of magic can get you killed.

The oppressive regime is deeply felt in every alleyway and shadow, creating a constant sense of danger and urgency.

Stoker crafts a believable and immersive world, blending fantasy elements with harsh political realism.

2. Characters & Development:

Will Hawkson is a layered character—toughened by loss but still guided by a sense of justice and protectiveness. His emotional depth adds realism to the high-stakes setting.

Malin Neldoreth evolves from a rational doctor into a fierce protector and a woman awakened to her own inner power. Her transformation is one of the novel’s most compelling arcs.

Ellie, the young girl at the center of the conflict, is not just a plot device but a spirited and innocent character who embodies both vulnerability and potential.

3. Themes:

Hidden Magic: A symbol of hope and danger, magic represents inner strength and forbidden identity.

Oppressive Regimes: The novel critiques authoritarianism, control, and fear as tools of societal order.

Found Family: The bond between Will, Malin, and Ellie grows organically, providing emotional weight and warmth in a bleak setting.

"Escape from Media" is a stunning exploration of human emotion, with Stoker's prose crafting a narrative that feels both deeply intimate and universally resonant. Through Malin's journey, the novel delves into the complexities of identity, isolation, and the relentless pull of modern life. The story is not just one of personal struggle but a mirror to the collective experience, making it as much a reflection of society as it is of the individual.

Stoker's writing shines with a rare blend of lyricism and raw honesty, painting a world where the lines between reality and illusion blur in a way that leaves the reader questioning what is truly real. The author’s keen eye for detail and the subtle development of the characters’ emotions make each moment feel earned, pulling the reader deeper into Malin’s psyche. Every sentence is laden with meaning, inviting the audience to unpack layers of complexity beneath the surface.

The plot itself is a masterclass in tension, with each twist adding a new layer to the central mystery while also revealing deeper truths about the characters. The pace is deliberate, allowing the emotional stakes to build gradually, making the eventual revelations all the more impactful. What Stoker does best is create an atmosphere that lingers long after the story ends, where the questions raised by the narrative echo in your mind.

Ultimately, "Escape from Media" is a novel that resonates on multiple levels, balancing emotional intensity with sharp social commentary. It’s a book that demands to be revisited, as its intricacies and insights only become more apparent with time. This is not just a story; it’s an experience that stays with you long after the final page is turned.

In a world where magic is punishable by death, Escape from Media offers a gripping and emotional journey through rebellion, survival, and unexpected romance, set against the backdrop of a chillingly realistic city that feels oppressively cold, calculating, and rigid in its rules, making every act of defiance feel intensely sharp, and it’s the underlying heartbeat of the story that truly sets it apart from other dystopian fantasies.

Will Hawkson is the kind of character that quietly breaks you open. Haunted by the loss of his sister, he steps into protector mode when he discovers Ellie, a young girl with forbidden magic. His bond with her never feels performative—it’s raw, layered, and deeply human. And then there’s Malin, Ellie’s mother, who’s caught between survival and sacrifice. Watching her embrace her power for her daughter’s sake is equal parts empowering and devastating.

The romance develops gradually, rooted in mutual respect, shared experiences, and cautious trust, making it feel authentic and realistic. The relationship between Will and Malin evolves like the healing of a wound - painful, imperfect, and beautiful. Meanwhile, the story maintains high stakes, with ruthless authorities, whispered uprisings, moral ambiguities, and glimpses of magic that are both enchanting and perilous.

If you’re drawn to dystopian tales with complex characters, intense emotions, and a romance that simmers slowly, then Escape from Media is the perfect fit. This gripping narrative is both emotionally charged and quietly powerful, making it a must-watch as the series unfolds.

Escape to Media is the kind of dystopian fantasy that grabs you from page one—not with explosions, but with a quiet sense of danger that steadily builds. Brandy Stoker doesn’t rely on overused tropes. Instead, she crafts a layered, emotionally intelligent tale about survival, love, and resistance in a world where magic can cost you your life.

What makes this book truly memorable is its characters. Will Hawkson is not your typical action hero; he’s worn, scarred, and torn between past guilt and present duty. His protective instincts toward Ellie, a young girl with dangerous magic, feel heartbreakingly real. Malin, meanwhile, is a beacon of quiet strength—a woman balancing vulnerability and courage as she navigates the cost of being different in a city that punishes it.

Media itself feels like a living entity—cold, mechanical, and merciless. Yet somehow, Stoker finds beauty in its shadows, weaving in moments of tenderness and hope where you'd least expect them. The world-building is detailed but never overwhelming, and the emotional stakes stay front and center.

The slow-burn romance is delicately done—never rushed, never cliché. It simmers alongside the tension of escape, giving the story both heart and heat. But at its core, this book is about choice—choosing defiance over silence, love over fear, and freedom over survival.

If you’re looking for a dystopian tale with emotional weight, relatable characters, and just the right dose of magic, Escape to Media delivers. It lingers long after the last page, like a quiet question: What would you risk to be free?

This book took me by surprise in the best possible way. Escape to Media is everything I didn’t know I needed in a dystopian fantasy—emotional, gripping, and quietly powerful. It’s not just another rebellion story. It’s about love in impossible places, the weight of survival, and what happens when people refuse to be broken.

We follow Ellie, a young girl whose magic sparks a series of events that forces her and her mother Malin into hiding. Malin was probably my favorite character—complex, strong, but deeply human. And then there’s Will, a smuggler with a painful past, who becomes entangled in their lives in a way that feels natural and earned. The romance is slow, tender, and subtle—never forced or overdone, which I really appreciated.

The world-building is vivid and harsh—Media is a place where rules crush magic and freedom, and yet the story still manages to hold onto hope. What I loved most were the emotional beats: the quiet moments between characters, the way trauma and love are both handled with care, and the deep theme of found family.

There are elements here fans of Red Queen or An Ember in the Ashes will recognize, but Brandy Stoker adds her own voice and style that makes this story stand out. It’s layered, character-driven, and honestly pretty addictive.

Can’t wait for Journey to Aloria—I’m so invested in these characters now. Highly recommend to anyone who loves strong female leads, survival stories, slow-burn romance, and fantasy with heart.

Escape from Media by Brandy Stoker is a thrilling, emotionally layered dystopian fantasy that dives headfirst into forbidden magic, oppressive regimes, and the fierce bonds of found family. From the first chapter, the tension is palpable magic is illegal, punishable by death, and when a young girl unknowingly reveals her powers, everything spirals. Will, a smuggler scarred by personal loss, crosses paths with Malin, a strong but unsuspecting mother, and the story takes off into a pulse-pounding race for survival.

What makes this book stand out isn’t just the high-stakes world or the edge-of-your-seat pacing it’s the heart. The slow-burn romance between Will and Malin simmers beneath the surface, never overshadowing the core themes of sacrifice, trust, and rebellion. The emotional stakes are just as intense as the physical danger, and the relationships feel raw and real. Add in the powerful theme of a mother fighting for her child’s future, and this story hits on so many levels.

Fans of Shatter Me and The Hunger Games will feel right at home here, but Escape from Media carves its own space with rich world-building, strong female friendships, and a morally grey tone that keeps you questioning everything. It’s not just a fantasy or a romance it’s a fight for freedom, identity, and the right to hope. Highly recommend diving into this one before Journey to Aloria arrives in November!

Escape to Media is a stunning dystopian fantasy romance that combines a ruthless regime, forbidden magic, and a deeply human story of survival and connection. With sharp world-building and emotionally resonant characters, Stoker’s debut is an unmissable addition to the genre.

The story drops readers into the unforgiving society of Media, where using magic is punishable by death. This premise immediately creates an atmosphere of danger and urgency. Yet, what sets this novel apart is its pacing—Stoker doesn’t rush. Instead, she allows the tension to build slowly, giving the characters room to breathe, evolve, and form meaningful bonds.

Will Hawkson is a standout. A brooding, reluctant hero with a dark past, he’s more than the familiar “smuggler with a heart” trope. His connection to the regime—especially the tragic death of his sister—adds depth and complexity to his actions and choices. Malin, too, is more than the typical strong female lead. She’s intelligent, sensitive, and determined, and watching her grow not only as a magician but as a mother is both moving and satisfying.

The romance between Will and Malin is a slow burn in the best possible way—built on mutual respect, emotional tension, and a sense of earned intimacy that lingers long after the final chapter.

Fans of Red Queen or An Ember in the Ashes will find much to love here. Escape to Media is a compelling debut that blends high-stakes action with rich emotional depth and an unforgettable love story.

A Surprisingly Addictive Read

I’ll be honest—I’m not usually into dystopian fantasy. But Escape to Media completely caught me off guard (in the best way). From the very first chapter, I found myself pulled into this dark, tense world where magic is banned and just existing as someone different could get you killed.

The story follows Ellie, a young girl who’s caught using magic, and her mom Malin, who’s suddenly thrown into survival mode. They’re forced to run, hiding from enforcers while figuring out who they really are—and what they’re capable of. Along the way, they cross paths with Will, a smuggler with a complicated past. I loved how their stories slowly came together and how natural the relationships felt—especially the slow-burn romance that doesn’t overshadow the bigger plot, but adds a lot of emotional depth.

What I appreciated most is how real the characters felt. They’re layered, flawed, and deeply human. I could feel their fear, confusion, love, and hope. And even though the world is harsh and dangerous, there are these small moments of connection that really hit home.

It’s a book about survival, rebellion, and what it means to hold on to love in a world that wants to crush it. If you’re into found family, slow-burn romance, secret magic, and strong female leads, this one’s for you. Even if you’re not into dystopian stuff, like me—it might surprise you.

Readers are taken to a dystopian society in Escape from Media, where magic is outlawed and love is dangerous. The dictatorship in Media, an authoritarian metropolis, targets anyone who possesses magical powers. Will Hawkson, a smuggler with a tragic background, and Malin, a devoted mother and doctor who is ignorant of her daughter's developing magical abilities, are at the heart of the story. Will's choice to save Ellie, an eleven-year-old girl who is a symbol of magic and hope, from the regime's attacks starts a series of events that put them all in jeopardy.

Will and Malin traverse a dangerous, rebellious, and forbidden love-filled world as their romance grows. The story is deeply intertwined with themes of sacrifice, found family, and resistance to persecution. Politics, magic, and rebellion are all incorporated into the rich world-building, which gives readers a compelling experience. The inclusion of bonus content and maps gives devoted readers more insight, and the pacing strikes a balance between sensitive, peaceful times and high-stakes action.

Fans of dramatic, emotionally complex novels will find this book to be a riveting read because it doesn't shy away from tough issues, such as war, trauma, and mind control. The Aloria/Media trilogy has a promising beginning with Escape from Media, and Book Two is eagerly awaited. Escape from Media is not just a fantasy novel—it's a bold, thought-provoking journey that lingers long after the final page.

"Escape from Media" stands as an ominous tempest of rebellion, romance, and survival. In such bright agony, Brandy Stoker neither writes a fantasy dystopia nor some other mere construct-fertilizing conception-she writes the deeply human journey. Simply beautiful language burns in the novel with gripping emotional truth and tension of life-threatening kind. The slow burn love story of Will and Malin is one laid down on grounds of pain, hope, and mute strength of survival. Amidst all the breakouts and savage regimes, the novel shines even brighter during the quieter moments—glances that wound, and silences that heal. It talks about family, death, healing, and freedom. The debut will lodge itself in your heart forever, whether you read it for fantasy or just needing meaning in a broken world.

ESCAPE FROM MEDIA it is not just a book of fantasy its full of emotional journey. Lets talk about strong female character….. 11 yr old ellie is a strong girl who doesn’t give up. Even though she is scared, she keeps going. She shows us that girls can be powerful and smart too. Readers will look her up as a role model. The story is set in a world where magic is not allowed, which makes it exciting and different. But the feeling and problems are real—like trust, fear, and friendship. It’s a perfect mix of magic and real-life emotions. When will Hawkson, a rogue smuggler haunted by loss, sees 11-year old Ellie using magic he knows that If she is found she could die just like her sister . He knows he must help her to escape the city. With twists and turn time running out and chased by enforces who will stop at nothing to destroy what the fear they must make their escape they are parts collide in a journey that tests their loyalties strength in the limits of love.

Escape to Media explodes off the page with danger, magic, and a pulse-pounding race for survival. From the moment Ellie’s hidden powers are revealed, the story grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Brandy Stoker crafts a world where even a whisper of magic is a death sentence, and the tension is relentless. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as Will, a haunted smuggler, risks everything to protect a mother and daughter he barely knows.

Malin's transformation from a clueless mother to a fierce protector was one of the most compelling parts of the story. Her chemistry with Will is a slow burn, but it adds real depth to their dynamic. The pacing balances action and character growth well, and I appreciated the strong, layered female lead.

The themes of found family and rebellion gave the book heart, and the ending left me eager for more. Brandy Stoker crafts a thrilling, emotional tale with twists that genuinely surprised me. If you love dystopian romance with magic and grit, Escape to Media delivers.

Escape to Media is the kind of story that sneaks up on you and lingers long after the final page. The author creates a hauntingly believable world where magic is outlawed and hope is a form of resistance. Malin’s strength as a mother, Will’s quiet grief, and the slow-burning connection between them ground the story in deep emotional truth. The romance is tender and never overdone, and the found family theme adds real heart.

A few moments had me wishing for just a bit more depth or tension, but that never took away from the pull of the characters or their journey. For fans of dystopian fantasy with real soul, this book is a powerful, memorable ride that leaves you thinking—and feeling—long after it's over.
