I was lucky enough to get the ARC for 'Bound By Veils Of Mist'
A fantastic tale of magic and fate.
FMC Mia has to hide her magic as a necromancer, as in her hometown Opelle, magic weilders are seen as cursed, due to The Shattering.
Devastating circumstances lead Mia to Vaaláen's Sanctum where she meets our MMC Orion. Together Mia and Orion must travel the kingdoms in search of hidden secrets, and magic that will lead them to stop the Veil from Shattering forever.
A beautifully written story. Celestia is full of magic and mystery. The world building was excellent. I adore Mia (Artema) and Orion. Their story is an emotional one, entertwined by fate.
Lyra, Leo and Briar are fantastic characters too. The relationship between the group is wonderful.
The spice is minimal but written very well. The ending had me hooked - i need to know how this plays out 🥺

*Bound by Veils of Mist* is an absolute gem for fantasy lovers! Amy Mandari crafts a world so rich and immersive that you can practically feel the magic in the air. Celestia is brimming with lore, mystery, and breathtaking landscapes, making every page a delight to explore. Mia and Orion’s journey is packed with intrigue, and the way their fates intertwine keeps you hooked. The magic, the tension, and the slow unraveling of secrets had me glued to the pages.
And let’s talk about Leo—his playfulness and sharp banter bring such a fun energy to the story! He’s the kind of side character who steals every scene he’s in, adding levity while still being deeply compelling.
If you love deep world-building and a story that pulls you in completely, this one’s a must-read! 🌙✨

ARC Review 3/5 - no spoilers
"May the moons guide you"
Celestia was an interesting world to disappear into. The story was well written and follows the single POV of Aretema aka Mia, the MFC.
While I found myself immersed in the unique world building, the character exposition was lacking resulting in personal disengagement during the book. I also found the concept of the fated mates to be juvenile without any build up, it missed the tension and passion other romantasy books are built on.
The celestial lore was brief with mention of the six moons and the correlating magic wielders being necromancers, storm callers and illusionists. The introduction to War Lords was well balanced giving the reader good insight into Orion's character.
The battle scenes were enthralling and a highlight throughout the book which leads to the ending, a high stakes sacrifice I did not see coming.
Overall Bound by Veils of Mist was an easy and quick read with an enjoyable plot. I'm invested to see what happens next in the Celestia world and how the characters develop during the story.

The first in an epic new series, Bound by Veils of Mist is the amazing debut from Amy Mandari. This was an absolutely fantastic read, a tour-de-force that brings to mind the best of the old-school quest novels as well as a heart-rending slow burn to compete with the best of them.
You can immediately tell this is going to be an epic read, with a strong prologue to throw you straight in. What follows is a very serious, heart-rending story that reads like an older work, with a more old-school, traditional feel to the writing; I personally love it.
It has a very good, progressive build to the story; it reads like an epic over a modern fantasy or romantasy. It's also left incredibly open for the next book, there's so many different ways the series could continue.
The character work is also extremely well done. The two main characters are a great couple, your typical mismatched pair with a deeper connection. Mia, the FMC, is almost stubbornly lonely. She refuses to let herself fit in, and isolates herself to the extreme over fear of her magic. The MMC, Orion, is just as stubborn about his sense of honour and duty, and is as blunt as a tennis ball. The resulting banter is fantastic, it feeds into the romance side of things perfectly.
On the romance, it's a slow burn, with no insta-lust or attraction; it's honestly quite refreshing with my recent reads. The romance subplot is quite subtle, it floats along in the background with little tidbits until a big reveal every so often. It helps drive the story forward but it's definitely not the sole point of the story. It's masterfully done, without being completely overbearing.
Overall, an absolutely fantastic debut, I cannot wait for more of the series.

Whimsical and immersive are the best ways i can describe this beautiful debut. The world building is very detailed and intricate, which may be a little overwhelming for some readers, but once you settle into the flow of the story, it really pulls you in.

The Veil wasn’t the only thing that shattered—my heart did too...💔 This fantasy swept me away with the magic & slow-burn tension. It was so slow, I was internally yelling—just kiss already! 🤭🔥 Aside from that, the world building was SO vivid. I felt like I was traveling through each kingdom with them (minus the action scenes because let’s be real—I would not survive). 💀
At times, I was just as frustrated for them with all the riddles. But the gasps I let out as I started connecting the dots between Mia/Orion & everything else?! I absolutely loved it. 🥹 Now let's talk found family—because YOU KNOW that's one of a favorite tropes. Lyra, Leo & Briar are amazing! Their friendship with Mia is ride or die & I adored watching broody Orion slowly open up to them as their journey went on. 🫶🏽

I need book 2 like I need air to breathe! This was such a good story. I was hooked from ch. 1, the world building is lush and extensive. There are multiple kingdoms in Celestia and the way they are being built is captivating. The political intrigue is definitely there. Mia travels through a few as she struggles with using her necromancy magic and fears the worst of herself. Her growth in this book with letting others in is so heartwarming to see.
Orion Elwood is a broody warrior of few words, he lets his actions and warrior magic do the talking. This magic system is based in celestial magic and is so unique.
Congratulations to Amy on an amazing world, I cannot wait to return to Celestia.

This is the type of fantasy that feels like old magic, of fate and destiny. A journey that takes you to the heart of an epic story!
While necromancy is already very intriguing, the way Mia's necromancy/powers are wielded in this story was so interesting, like throwing a Pokéball of death😂
I love Orion's dry sense of humor! He is such a grumpy guy. Listen man I get it, feelings are hard🤣
And Mia is so funny with her incessant questioning 🤣 but girl same👀
And Leo? Definitely put the SASS in Sassy😂 that boy would have driven me up a wall on that long journey🫠

Bound by Veils of Mist has very descriptive world-building and some good character development. I really like Artema and Orion as characters. There was a good, steady found family in Lyra, Leo, and Briar, too. I liked the journey they went on to different locales. The pacing was a bit slow for me, but I know the first book in a series can often feel like that with everything that needs to be established.
Overall, it’s 3.5 stars for me, rounded up to 4. I’m interested to know how things play out after that ending, so I’ll be keeping my eye out for the next book.

This was a lovely book! There was such an interesting world of magic. I felt it was an interesting take on magic, especially focusing on a FMC who’s main form of magic is necromancy. I haven’t read too many books where necromancy and veil magic was the prominent magic in the MCs POV, and I enjoyed it! It was an unexpected magical twist for me.
Overall, I think all the characters were interesting, especially the role each played in the story. Some of the character personalities were a little flat, and it made it hard to like them or root for them.
I’d say it was a slow start to the novel, which made it hard to get into, but once it picked up, I literally could not put it down! I can’t wait to see more from this magical world! 🫶🏻

I absolutely loved this book. If you love a story full of adventure and suspense and want to get smacked in the face with the ending, well, this is the book for you. The book has minimal spice (win for me), and the plot is constructed beautifully. The characters are relatable, and you feel like you're on the adventure with them.

I soaked this book in!
Now it was a bit of a slower read in my opinion but it worked very well for the book! The storyline was intricate and grasping! The action was drawing with very minimum spice! The characters and world building were extremely thorough and blended nicely throughout the entire book!

Excuse me? No. It can’t end like that?! Rip my heart out and then end on a cliffhanger? What?!
I loved every minute of this book. The author built the world so beautifully and the characters were wonderful. Chapter 22 , things really started to hype up and kept me on the edge of my seat. Very deserving of a 5 star.
Please tell me there will be a book two. Please!!! 🙏

3.5 rounded up to 4 for Goodreads. It was a bit wordy and embellished for my taste. I didn’t totally understand the story, but at times it was entertaining and I did want to continue to see where it all ended up.

I read the prologue for this story back in September and was blown away it was so good. The wait for the rest of this story was long but so worth it!
Bound by Veils of Mist is a magical story with beautiful prose, vivid world-building, heart-wrenching emotion, and an incredible plot. This one is so well written and interesting, with twists you don’t expect. I was so sad when it ended—I wanted so much more and could’ve read hundreds more pages of this author's writing.
The main characters are to die for, and I loved them so, so much. The evolution of their relationship throughout the story was beautifully written, and I love how they grow individually and together. Even the side characters were amazing and fit so well into the dynamic and the story.
