Disgraced surgeon Ramsey Abernathy isn’t God; he doesn’t make mistakes. At least, that is what he tells himself during countless hours of assembling body parts and sorting through bags of organs. Ever since the death of his brother, Ramsey has been obsessed with resurrection and reanimation. If he can find a cure for death, then science needn’t stop at creation—it may yield its secrets for reversal, as well. All it will take him is one more…one more body, one more sleepless night.
If ever he feels like giving up, the ghost of his brother, an entity he calls ‘Wisp’, will raise cane until he sees results. Wisp is just as eager to have a body as Ramsey is to have a breakthrough, but neither can anticipate what will happen when science takes on a life of its own.

I was so excited to get this ARC and it absolutely did not disappoint! I was so invested from the very beginning and literally could not stop reading towards the end.
This was such an interesting and beautiful Frankenstein retelling.

To my sweet baby Adam, let me protect you.
I wasn't even halfway through and I immediately went to the author's page and bought 3 more of their books. 😂
If you love fantastic southern gothic horror, please read this!
Disgustingly macabre! I really enjoyed the authors' storytelling. They balance you on a fine line between being revolted and curious enough to go on. I really enjoyed the down spiral of the MMCs mental well-being & care for himself. The juxtaposition between his devolution and another characters evolution is masterfully done. This is definitely a read that can be interpreted in different ways and discussed & debated on. The author has made a colossal impact in such a short story. They will definitely be one to watch, and I will read more of their books. Thank you for the ARC!
