Soarin into great monster story Brain Gatto is going to take you in a much weirder and bloodier Jurassic park, so sit back and have fun on the ride. I had a great time with the book. It’s fun, full of tropes, and just enough twists and changes to make it interesting.

Pros:
+some pretty fun kills
+a great monster twist you may not be expecting
+what happens with our surprise monster and scientist is doing indulgently silly in a good way and I hope that the sequel includes more with the twist

Cons:
-too predictable of a story trope? I’m not sure. Maybe.
-did I want more evil character..? Maybe.

Overall I had a great time with this one. It was exactly what I needed and provided the same level of escapism as the movies I enjoy so thoroughly.

Good grief. Cringy dialogue and painfully awkward sex scenes. If you want dino/person lovemaking this might tickle your fancy. Lots of just weird perverted stuff with the "bad guy". The writing style is hard to follow. Multiple times I would stop and read a sentence aloud to my wife. And we would make one of two comments. Either "That could have been worded a LOT better ” or ”Why would you use that word to describe this?"

I felt the author just used a thesaurus to come up with words to describe thing. And I don't mean like using the word 'sleek' instead of 'smooth' to describe say a polished rock. The word would be something like 'tranquil' or 'stable' which technically isn't wrong because those words are synonyms of smooth but the context is just completely wrong and unnatural.

I love dinosaur creature feature books but this one is really hard to read.

Not All Bad

While most of the characters seemed shallow and stereotypical the action was almost non-stop. Gratuitous gore and violence abounded. There was one character that didn't survive that I hoped would. I'm not sure I'll be reading anything else by this author.
