These audio biographies chart the lives and work of some of rock's most memorable acts, from their early days to their rise to fame. Each CD includes comments and interview material by the artist and is accompanied by an eight-page illustrated booklet and foldout poster.
I probably would have given this brief biographical sketch three stars, but the background music was just way too annoying. It wasn't even anything Tori Amos herself would like, just bland soft pop instrumental elevator music. Ick.
The actual content wasn't bad. But there wasn't much I didn't already know, and while I do enjoy her music a great deal, I haven't really made Tori Amos a subject of in-depth research. I think I would have liked this a lot more if it had explored some of Tori's themes in detail instead of simply cataloging them. Some discussion of meanings of song lyrics would have been nice, too.
I also didn't like how the narrative seemed to jump around. It got very confusing, which is disappointing, considering how short this work is (one CD).
I would not recommend this to die-hard fans, but if you like Tori's music but don't know much about her, you might want to give this a listen.
