FOLLOW THE AVALON CREW ON THE TRAIL OF AN ANCIENT MYSTERY STRETCHING BACK HUNDREDS OF YEARS INTO THE PAST… After finding a mysterious reference to an ancient doomsday weapon in the memoirs of a Dominican friar, the Avalon crew find themselves on an excavation in a Mexican convent. Following the clues to a famous archaeological site in western Belize, they soon realize they are not the only ones searching for the dangerous historical relic and the terrible power it wields. From the Mayan ruins of Belize and the deep jungles of Mexico, to the back streets of Havana and the warm waters of Florida’s Biscayne Bay, former USMC Captain Mitch Decker, Professor Selena Moore and the rest of the team race against time to find and secure a lethal legacy from the ancient Mayan world and stop a crazed maniac from using its power to annihilate millions of people. Packed with breakneck action and with a dash of humor and romance on the side, The Doomsday Cipher is the third novel in the Avalon Adventure series from Rob Jones, the author of the bestselling Joe Hawke and Hunter Files series.
International bestselling author of twenty-five thrillers, including fourteen in the Joe Hawke action-adventure series and The Hunter Files. All available for the Amazon Kindle.
The Avalon crew is back! This time out, Mitch Decker and friends find themselves in an action-packed race for an ancient doomsday device that holds destructive power a crazed madman threatens to release upon the world. To find it, they will have to literally go to he'll and back, through the legendary Mayan underworld of Xibalba. And when the action slows just enough to catch your breath, that's when the fascination and intrigue build. Of course, a heaping helping of humor at inappropriate times is just what you would expect from this ragtag bunch of adventurers. A rollicking fun thrill ride, worth the wait and not to be missed!
As you can see by the 3 stars, I was not thrilled with this book. There are several reasons. First, the device everyone wanted to get their hands on was too over the top, even for me. I read a lot of books in this genre and, as such, am pretty adept in suspending disbelief, but this one was too much. Second, things were just too easy. Finding the cave, exploring the caverns (no booby traps!) and deciphering the glyphs like they were written in English. I'm still shaking my head. Finally, the banter was way, way too much. The smartassery was nonstop even when the situation was dire. I'm glad this is the last book in the series because I was finished with it one way or another.
Off to find the domes day shield. Ancient Mayan artifact that can cause hurricanes. Selena is a gutsy as ever. Avalon brought in an old friend of Decker's. New York City saved the Avalon crew decides to take a vacation. Can't wait to see what happens when they are all rested up and ready for another adventure.
The Avalon Team takes off looking for a very famous book buried in a convent in Mexico. From there adventures take them from the Caribbean to Cuba to New York City. They had to save the city from a madman.
Books 1,2 and 3 where absolutely great .The thrill that comes with these books is easily experienced Through the eyes of each of these Characters I think these books are Among the great adventure thrillers .
Another high octane adventure from Rob Jones. His stories are fast paced and keep you reading until the end, you like the characters and want them to win.
Brilliant read as all of them have been gutted over them disbanding though. Love how the group work so well together and how relation ships are being formed in the group.
