Club Caliber #3

More Than We Know

Rate this book
Quentin

Our marriage has always been a happy one, but lately, things feel… stagnant. Life’s gotten in the way, and we’ve lost that spark and sense of adventure. But now that the kids are away at college and Sarah and I are off work for a few more weeks, I’m determined to bring back what we’ve been missing. But everything changes when our night at Club Caliber results in Sarah reconnecting with an old flame–a woman who very well may be her “one that got away.”

Sarah

I never thought I’d see her again. It’s been over twenty years since Kat and I had gone our separate ways, and things had ended in heartbreak and bitterness. But now, she’s here, and I don’t know how to reconcile my feelings for her besides pushing them back down. That door closed a long time ago. That is, until Quentin suggests an arrangement that could pave the way for something more…

Kat

After twenty years of traveling for work and never settling too long in one place, I’m back in Chicago. A small part of me had hoped I might see Sarah, but I never thought it would be like this–in the middle of a BDSM club with her charming, loving husband beside her. I’d be crazy to accept their offer of joining them, because I’m all too familiar with the unicorn hunt–a married couple finding a bisexual woman to spice up their marriage before I’m tossed aside once they’ve satisfied their curiosity. But this seems different…

Saying yes to them might end up breaking my heart, but with my feelings for Sarah resurfacing and my interest in Quentin growing by the day, it’s a risk I’m willing to take.

This book is a romance novella with high spice and low conflict. Tropes include FFM, polyamory, a Dom/sub/switch dynamic, exhibitionism, reconnecting with a former lover, and "normal" characters in their 40s.

More Than We Know is a novella about Sarah and Quentin, a married couple in their forties adjusting to life as empty nesters after their youngest child leaves for college. As they reflect on the evolution of their family life, they realize they finally have the time and freedom to rekindle the passionate, kink-friendly relationship they once shared.

Their journey takes them back to Club Caliber, the BDSM club they used to frequent. There, they unexpectedly reunite with Kat—Sarah’s former roommate and past lover. As the story unfolds (with a the spicy scenes spicin'), the spark between Sarah and Kat reignites, new chemistry emerges between Quentin and Kat, and the bond between Sarah and Quentin only deepens.

At its heart, More Than We Know explores the nature of love—and how some hearts are made for romantic connection with more than one person.

This is one of my first FFM poly romances and I liked it soo much, I want Lyla to turn this novella into a novel! :) And while it stands strong on it's own, readers will crave for so much more for these characters! (Luckily, we have Under Control and Out of the Dark to assuage the yearning for more Lyla Andrews, who I give great thanks to for providing me with this ARC (even though I forgot to sign up - GEM!!)

This was a sweet yet spicy novella. It’s FFM and I always love that! This is the story of Kat, Sarah and Quentin. Kat and Sarah had a brief relationship during college and run into each other again at club Caliber. The spark is still there and something grows between the 3. The build up of the relationship was good, it felt like something that could grow the same way in real life and despite being a novella it didn't feel rushed. I fell in love with the characters. It was a short, hot and fun read! I really loved it!

If Lyla is going to write something its going to be a perfectly paced novella ✨

I love Lyla's novellas so when I received an arc for the next book in the Club Caliber series and she told me it was a novella I was ready to eat it up.

More Than We Know is a FFM romance between married Sarah & Quentin who see Kat at the club one night once they become empty nesters and she happens to have history with Sarah.

This was my first FFM but I did really enjoy it 4 ⭐

I received this as an arc, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
This Novella follows Quentin & Sarah, who are newly empty nesters and want to spice things up again. While at Club Caliber they meet Kat, who happens to be Sarah’s ex gf from college.
This novella was paced really well. I like how secure Quentin and Sarah are in their relationship that they are ready and willing to peruse whatever it is they feel for Kat.
It definitely could of been a novel but I appreciate the short, sweet, but spicy read!

More Than We Know is a novella that is short and spicy. It follows Quentin and Sarah as they re-discover their sexuality upon entering empty-nester status. They visit a BDSM club they once frequented and stumble upon Kat, Sarah’s ex-friend-roommate-girlfriend-situationship.
I set my expectations lower with novellas anyways, because there’s always something else to be added, whether that be plot, pacing, back story, characters, etc. and this definitely met that mark.
First of all, they all come so fast. 🤣 The foreplay was repetitive and not explorative at all, and two strokes in, everyone is having an earth-shattering orgasm. 😭 I was hoping to see some newness when Kat entered dom mode, but her and Quentin said all the same things, made all the same moves. I would’ve liked to see moreeee.
Now that I feel like I’m directing and critiquing a porno, I’ll stop being facetious.
I liked the idea of the plot, a lot of couples lose their flair in their sex life when they have kids—especially *grown* kids. The fact that they got in touch with that was sweet, and Quentin was very receptive to Sarah wanting to explore with a woman. It was wonderful seeing some older MC’s and not 20 year old fresh-off-the-boat college goers for once. (I say as a 23 year old woman, IKR)
It just moved very fast, despite the “I’m nervous and don’t know how people will receive this” monologue every chapter. And every time they want to explore and try fuckin’, they go to the BDSM club. 🤣
And because I *know* people will STILL remind me…
I *KNOW* this is a novella, and I *KNOW* it’s supposed to move fast LOL.
It has potential, and I don’t regret reading it! Just didn’t knock my socks off. Does that mean I’m too desensitized to erotica?
3 stars 🙂

More Than We Know by Lyla Andrews was such a satisfying read. It’s grounded, emotionally balanced, and refreshingly real. I adored the dynamic between Sarah and Quentin. Their marriage felt honest and mature, with Quentin’s attentiveness and support for his wife standing out in such a beautiful way. They weren’t larger-than-life characters. Just regular people with careers, grown kids, and a relationship that had shifted with time.

Enter Kat, Sarah’s former flame, and the story unfolds into a FFM romance that feels both spicy and deeply thoughtful. There was nuance in how Lyla explored past heartbreak, long-buried feelings, and the emotional risk of inviting someone new into an established relationship. The scenes between all three characters were well-written and never rushed, with tension that built naturally and felt earned.

This novella was a quick, smooth read with just the right mix of chemistry, communication, and character growth. It’s a perfect palate cleanser if you’re looking for something short, smart, and sexy. It’s a strong addition to the Club Caliber series.

I’ve grown to enjoy Lyla’s soft BDSM romance as of late. This novella is a standalone that just happens to hit a sweet spot. Love can be found in many ways and sometimes monogamous isn’t fulfilling for some. It takes a lot of trust and communication to work.. Most of all it takes a lot of bravery that is perceived as defying societal norms of relationships. But for Quentin, Sarah and Kat, though “non-monogamy is still frowned upon in a lot of communities, but ultimately, [their] happiness takes precedent over others’ comfort.”

I recommend this read for those curious or have thought of but not wanting to commit—it’s OK to entertain the thought. But if it’s tugging at your heartstrings, take a note from Sarah, “I’m not going to lose out on a relationship because I’m scared what people will think. Life’s too short for that.”

More Than We Know is a short FFM novella about Quentin and Sarah and married couple in there 40s who recently had their youngest child head off to college. I have to say that I truly loved how Layla Andrews portrayed their story. Although short it wasn't rushed and you can just feel the emotions come off the pages. Although yes we had some nice hot spicy scenes, I truly loved how to me this was more of a story of acceptance and living your truest self. She did such a wonderful job expressing the characters feelings as they navigated through them. It was such a beautiful story and I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to read it. Anyone thinking of reading this should definitely pick it up.

I absolutely adore this novella! Thank you @lylaandrewsauthor for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC! ❤️

Quentin, Sarah and Kat were just perfection 🥰 Quentin is just 🥵 he loves Sarah so much and is willing to help her figure herself out! Sarah is unsure of herself but grows more confident as the book goes on. And Kat, Queen, she’s so confident and I just loved her character! I love how even though it is a novella at no point did it feel rushed. The story flowed very well and I just couldn’t put it down! I loved that it wasn’t just a love story but Sarah finding her true self. This was a fun and quick read and I can’t wait to read more from Lyla ❤️

More Than We Know by Lyla Andrews is a deliciously heartfelt short story that took me pleasantly by surprise. The cover had me expecting something a bit darker, but what I got instead was a beautifully written, emotionally balanced piece that felt relatable and authentic.

The open, honest communication between Sarah, Quentin, and Kat was chef’s kiss—refreshing and genuine without veering into cliché. I especially appreciated that the characters were everyday people with normal jobs, and the story didn’t rely on overdramatized twists for impact.

Short, classy, and utterly relatable in more ways then one—this one quietly hits the mark.

Well, this is a steamy little number.
The premise of this novella is a couple reaching their middle years and longing for change. It’s a common complaint rooted firmly in reality…but the way this couple decides to mix things up is perhaps a little different. Enter Club Caliber.

This door-free (can’t close it if it doesn’t exist!) book explores BDSM, bi awakening and poly relationships. There’s an appropriate amount of character development for the length of the book and it doesn’t sacrifice plot for spice. The story could easily have been fleshed out into a full novel in my opinion. If you need something short and spicy, make this your next read.

Short and sweet novella, perfect quick read.

This novella focuses on a married couple entering their empty nest era and trying to spice up their relationship again. While it is a quick read, the emotions and maturity of the characters comes through to make a great story. I loved the dynamic of an older couple who has been through alot together and trust each other, even when one wants to spice up their relationship.

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this amazing novel and am leaving a review of my own thoughts and feelings.

Arc review

Quick, spicy fast pace read

A enjoyable short story, following a couple who ended up finding themselves meeting a old friend of Sarah’s at a bdsm club, things get heated up again between the two girls and BaM all 3 of them connect together, not very high on plot which is normal as it is a short story, nice spice level BUT it did left me wanting more 😩 it was just a little short for me 🥲 but nevertheless very entertaining read, the writing was great and honestly would read another from the author as this is my first from them!:)

Thank you for the arc I appreciate it:)

This short story was wow. This is only the second FMF book I’ve read, with the first exploring their sexuality and this second reconnecting with their sexuality. Sarah and Quentin are such a strong couple but then add in Kat and they find something that’s not missing but adding. Finding their way through what’s between the 3 of them was inspirational with their open and honest communication. I really loved it. 💕🩷

This book took me about 45 minutes to read because it was so small. I just picked it up because of that and so I could read the 3rd book in July. Not. a whole lot to say except I’m glad Kat feels like Sarah was home. I love that Quentin was so on board with Kat and Sarah exploring because he just wanted Sarah happy. It worked out because they ended up forming a beautiful relationship and it was a fun spicy journey for them.

Okay okay okay! I loved this. The characters were older & wiser. No 3rd act break up ugh I loved it 🥰. Kat & Sarah's relationship development was beautiful. Quentin was so open to trying new things & just over being supportive of Sarah & Kat. I LOVE it 🖤! Though it started with just Quentin & Sarah's bet it ended with a beautifully developed traid. The Spice? Loved it down 🥵. Kat being a switch was something Sarah & Quentin needed.

Short and spicy FFM novella that is perfect if you’re looking to dip your toe into a new to you trope! Very spicy right from the start that takes off from there. Loved how the author incorporated the characters personal feelings about the situation and how they would turn it into a serious relationship. Such a nice quick read!

Quick, dirty, and emotionally satisfying! We’re back at Club Caliber, but this time with a seasoned couple looking to reignite their flame after the kids have left the nest. What we end up with is a beautiful story of love, encouragement, and lots of fun! It was heartwarming and lovely, yet sultry and spicy at the same time - I loved every page!

4+ stars. This is an enjoyable novella with solid, grounded characters who were regular folks, navigating changes in family dynamics and the evolution of relationships within their marriage. The characters were well thought out.
