In the heart of Singsong City, Rynne, an undercover detective, wants nothing more than to serve justice and fight evil. Of course, her mother doesn't know what she does for a living. Rynne is a lawyer, as far as her family is concerned, safe, dull, and as respectable as a witch with negligible powers can be. But when a murder at the courthouse brings together her two identities, worlds will collide. With the help of an unlikely ally, she must unravel the mystery of the courthouse murders before the world explodes, literally, around her. Will she find the killer, or will she be the next victim?
Goblins Don't Count is the eighth book in the Singsong City series. It is a standalone paranormal romantic comedy featuring goblins, witches, demons, and Winston the Warlock. It is packed with puns, battles, and a sweet, slow burn romance between the witch detective and the Goblin King who needs a mostly human bride. Also sushi.
I think this is my favourite of the Singsong city books! I loved both the hero and heroine, and their relationship is amazing. This is definitely a book I'll be rereading a few times!
I enjoyed this book. The FMC &MMC were great. The plot was decent, I just wanted more. I wanted to see more of the family. More with the familiar. Just more everything!!
This was another great book! It was filled with humor, action, and a swoony love. I would say it is appropriate for 16+ due to violence, kissing, and "heat." It does not contain spice!
The Singsong City is ULTRA formulaic. I like the formula, but it's NOT original from book-to-book. This writer has tropes she is dedicated to. She clearly is pro waiting for marriage, she likes ridiculousness and whimsy, and her heroes are obsessed with their heroines from day one in an extreme way - they are loyal and devoted to the core of their being. Not that I'm complaining - who doesn't like a fairytale level of devotion? The hero and heroine are always equally powerful, though different. In this series, there is a new couple every book.
This one is about an undercover cop and the goblin king of singsong city. They foil an attempt at a very dangerous demon summoning.
Welp, it took less than 24 hours to read Rynne & Sashimi’s story, so I think I enjoyed it! This one goes in my top 3 favs of the series.
To me it felt a little bit less chaotic (good chaos, of course) than typical Juliann fare, but it was a delightful change of pace. I think it was that these MCs did a generally better at communicating and interpreting the other’s needs over the course of the book. Plenty of side characters supplied chaos though, so don’t worry that it will feel too different.
