Ummmm that ending whaaaat????? 🤯🤯🤯🤯I need book 2 asap. I couldn’t put this book down from start to finish FMC Reign & MMC Lukene are some of my top favourite characters 😍😍 I could not put this down from start to finish!! Reign is a strong character who goes through hell & so much in her life & as a prisoner she has scars of her back that show some of this despite this she is so strong, brave & would do anything for those she loves and cares about including offering to replace friends in getting punished when they are threatened I find her inspiring 💜 Prince Lukene takes a liking to her from the beginning but won’t admit it as he thinks he is evil & has no heart which is definitely not true he has his own trauma and has had horrific things happen to him he is an amazing character in his own right 💜 he is also a shadow daddy and uses his shadows to 💀 anyone that harms any prisoner or Reign, to massage her, etc 😏 he says “who did this to you?” a lot throughout this book as you can imagine as these two get closer there are jealous people around that want her 💀 or/ and harmed she doesn’t tend to tell him who straight away so he takes action that makes her tell him who hurt her. As an example there’s a scene where some guards harassed her and hit her Lukene saw the mark on her cheek and asked who did this to you? she didn’t want to tell him using his shadows he told her to come with him as he gathered all the guards he again asks her the same question when she tells him to basically not worry about it this again us an unacceptable answer for him so he starts 💀 guards all over the room with his shadows in a brutal way yelling tell me while killing more then she finally tells him (that’s how much he is in love with her)
There are deadly trials in this that the prisoners are put through that are well described and well written Lukene trains her and she finds out what her power is and gets stronger as she trains with him and Lukene’s close friends when he is away on duties set by Vanna & his father the king. I feel like the king is being manipulated a lot by Vanna who I would describe as the most hated character in this series. It’s a slow burn and the yearning, the banter is 🔥 🔥 you get to read about their relationship growth which I love rather than a Insta love relationship. Lukene’s younger sister is another favourite character along with Reign’s friend Elm & Lukene’s closets friends great friendships. Prince Elliot’s character is another favourite he grew on me a lot I really like his attitude and how he treats Reign these two connected quite well he is also very mysterious and up to something not sure what exactly but I’m keen to see what else he brings to the story 💜
This is also a spicy read 3/5 peppers it’s not frequent but occurs at the right times the true definition of yearning & slow burn 🔥 🔥 he never forces anything on her and asks if she’s ok if at anytime she not comfortable he stops immediately 🥹💜💜 and also dark read trigger warnings if you feel you need to there is also gore in this book too. The world building is strong in this book as well as the character relationships. The stakes are brutal and Reign and Lukene’s storyline is filled with hope, strength, court intrigue, and emotional parts esp the twist toward the end that I never ever saw coming my mind was 🤯🤯🤯🤯 I was on the edge of my seat!!!! I need book 2 asap I highly recommend this book and I’ll always recommend it esp if you enjoy morally grey characters, strong female lead and empowerment, yearning and slow burn romance, enemies to lovers, and high-stakes fantasies I’m still thinking about the characters and story now :) once you get the ending you’ll be needing book 2 asap Ahahh 💜💜
In a kingdom trapped under a malevolent curse, the rulers turn to the Hollows, an underground prison for dangerous criminals, and force the inmates into deadly trials. Whoever survives will become the champion who might finally end the curse. The setup is intense and the world building in the first half pulled me in right away. Reign, a fierce and resilient inmate, was easy to root for. Her determination, grit, and desire for vengeance made her such a strong heroine.
What held this book back for me was Lukene, the dark prince who is driven completely by duty. His constant push and pull with Reign drove me a little insane. I love a slow burn, but every time their relationship made progress, he stepped back again with another moment of “I need to focus on my position” or “This is not fated.” After a while it felt more frustrating than romantic.
The story still delivers betrayal, heartbreak, dark secrets and plenty of court politics as the trials unfold. Reign and Lukene have a complicated connection that shifts from hatred to something neither of them expects. Even with the rocky romance pacing, the plot has strong moments and a lot of potential.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series to see where Reign’s journey goes from here.
Five Star read. 3/5 spice (not alot, but *chefs kiss* for when it's there)
Absolutely addictive!
This book had me hooked from the very first page. The world-building is rich and immersive, the stakes are brutal, and the chemistry between Reign and Lukene crackles with intensity.
Their enemies-to-lovers storyline is filled with deadly trials, court intrigue, and emotional twists I never saw coming.
If you’re a fan of morally grey characters, strong female empowerment, slow-burn romance, and high-stakes fantasy, then this is a must-read...and the ending will leave you desperate for book two!!
I was so excited to get an early copy of this book, amazing debut book!
I am reeling for book 2 after that ending, that is not how I was expecting it to end but it left me in shock!!
I loved both the MMC and the FMC, they were very likeable characters and love their banter!
The magic system confused me at first but it slowly came together the further into the book I got, definitely a slow burn! But loved every moment building up to the spice!
I can’t wait to read more about this world and it’ll see where this story takes us!
This is definitely a book where you can’t just say “one more chapter,” the ending of each chapter had me sucked into the story and I had to know what happened next!!
First of all, can we take a moment to shout from the rooftops that Reign of Shadows is a fantastic romantasy debut?! Amber L. Bowe came in swinging, and I was not prepared.
If you like your books served with a side of found family, enemies to lovers to “uh-oh what are we?”, forced proximity, trials, magic, and a healthy dose of revenge, then congratulations—you just found your next obsession.
Rein, our badass FMC, does not come to play. She’s determined, fierce, and not afraid to throw down. And Luke? Oh, Luke. Our rule-breaking prince with charm, swagger, and enough tension to light the pages on fire. The banter? Immaculate. The slow-burn? Delicious. The angst? Chef’s kiss.
This book gave me everything I didn’t know I needed and left me begging for book two. Amber L. Bowe, you have my attention. And my soul, apparently.
I was completely blown away that this was her first book.
The FMC was my favorite and they’re NEVER my favorite in fantasy romances. But I wanted to be her friend and it shows how well done the authors fleshed her character out.
Of course I fell in love with this MMC but THAT ENDING!!!! Ugh idk how the author is going to go from here but I look forward to reading the next book! Need it now!!
I absolutely consumed this book like it was my last meal. From the moment I read the first paragraph I did not check once how far I was (it’s a big book). The only criticism I would have is that I want the next book tomorrow. Characters - You will meet 7296 (Reign) a beautiful, small in stature, lavender haired with lavender eyes young woman. Her husband was murdered, she was arrested and subsequently killed a guard. She will spend the rest of her life in The Hollows known only as prisoner #7296. Not many survive The Hollows. She lives in Hell everyday. I will not spoil what she endures but I promise you won’t like it. She makes two fast friends there who show her how to survive, Elm and Larah. You cannot help but love these two characters. 🫅 Prince Lukene is the next breath taking dream of a shadow wielder character. He sees Prisoner 7296 fighting and is immediately intrigued by her. He is known as the Dark Prince because the way he handles situations is with force. He follows the Kings orders, right or wrong. He is unwavering in his loyalty to his father, the King. 👑 Princess Vanna. Well I hated her immediately. Prince Lukene tries to see the good qualities in her, it’s his sister, after all. The way Amber writes this character you know she’s a monster. You will be screaming in your head for Prince Lavine to come to his senses and do something to stop the evil she does. But, honestly, I was gripping my kindle when her character came up because she is deliciously cruel, sadistic and evil. Just wait until you find out just how devious she has been for a very long time. There is a method to her madness, I promise!!! 👑 Princess Lilyana - She is a beautiful song. Even her behaviour is like a soft ballad. When her character was in the scene it always made me smile. The banter, the friendships she makes, the close relationship she has with her brother Prince Lukene.😊 👮World Building - 💯% 5 stars. Reign ends up in prison. The way Amber describes this I felt I was there. The cruelty, torture, both mentally and physically was very disturbing. 🏰 Part of the story is also at a castle. Reign grew up very poor. After being arrested she was in prison. To get the chance to be at the castle what would she do! The castle is sickeningly dripping with opulence, sustenance, and furnishings. To have a real bath, an actual bed is something beyond her wildest dreams. What would Reign and her friends do to survive? Pacing and Flow - Perfection. That’s all I can say. From the first sentence Amber had me wrapped around her little finger. I hungrily read hoping for answers. This is a fantasy with so much suspense you will not fault one word in this perfectly scripted tale of magic, love, mythical creatures, deadly enemies and revenge. Spice - 🥵 🥵 🥵 This is a romantic suspense fantasy. This is book 1 of a series. When the spice does come it is wonderful. The ending left me holding my breath. I need to know. 🙏 One of the best cliffhangers I have read!
This review is going to be a little different than I typically do, I know it’s choppy, so I apologize in advance:
I truly liked Reign as a FMC. She’s tough, resilient, but loves fiercely and stands up for what she believes!
I loved the Trials so much. The trials were honestly my absolute favorite part of the book.
My heart broke for Reign, and all she endured in the prison.
As much as I wanted to love the MMC, I just had a really tough time connecting to him. I honestly liked Prince Elliot so much and felt more chemistry between Elliot and Reign, than I did with Lukene and Reign, I’m so sorry!
I’m definitely interested in seeing where the story is going for the second book.
My only concern or con with Reign of Betrayal, were the parallels and huge similarities to other major, popular books. I’m hoping to see a more original take on those things, with the next book. It was extremely difficult to connect to the story when those moments would happen because they were just so similar, almost just reworded, and it was very distracting and hard to get lost in the book because of this.
that damn cliffhanger..... I need book 2 right meow.. I devoured this story. Lukene & Reign!!!!!!!!!!! give me all the world building and hot as sin spice!!! .. me waiting in line for book 2 like it's black friday ... camping out.. 🏕 thank you Amber I'm truly happy to be a party of the team.
This authors first book?!?!?! What!?!?! So, I was given this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. So, at first, I was content with it being a 4⭐️. But then it kept sucking me in (I read more than one book at a time). I couldn't put it down. I felt bad for the other books. 😂 I don't wanna spoil it for anyone, but I felt all the things. I laughed, I cried, I was happy, and angry, and I was gutted. GUTTED. I'M still not over it. I loved and hated all the side characters. Enemies to Lovers to Enemies. Push and pull. Slow burn. I will say it ends on a cliffhanger. Maybe I shouldn't say that. I wouldn't want anyone to NOT read this because of that. IT'S WORTH IT I TELL YOU. I haven't been unable to put a book down in a long time.
I had the privilege to read this before publication, and I will say this is one of the most fascinating dark romantasy books I’ve read. Trials, a dark prince, a gloomy and corrupt prison system, court politics, revenge, magical creatures, and adventure awaits you within the pages of Reign of Betrayal. The author has a beautiful writing style and brings you into the story almost immediately. You will feel deeply for the characters and all that they experience throughout their journey. **If you are sensitive to certain topics, I would check the trigger warnings, as some heavy topics are spoken about within this book. The ending will have you reeling and desperately needing book two. Congratulations to Amber for an incredible debut!
This book has all the favourite tropes: forbidden love, a strong FMC, a shadow daddy, trials, found family, curse kingdom…the list goes on. If you liked Powerless or the The Veiled Kingdom but wanted it darker. This is it. This story will have your feeling for these characters throughout the book. They all go through some traumatic experiences before and during this story. It was such a great read. I couldn’t put it down. The slow burn crackled right to the end and then exploded in a cliffhanger that I’m still thinking about! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the next book!
I really enjoyed this. I wasn’t sure at first, because there is a bit of world building to start and sometimes that just makes my eyes glaze over… but not this time!
Reign, the FMC, is imprisoned in a brutal place. She’s scared, not magical, and is not a fighter so her future at the prison looks pretty bleak. If you are triggered by violence or $exu@l a$$@ult please be aware that this book has both — on the page, and in references to activities off page. (They do tie in to the story so those themes are not gratuitously placed.) Early on in her prison stay Reign meets Larah, and then Elm, who become more than friends or a support system— they become a tight knit family.
There are a lot of characters, but the the events in the book primarily center around: Prince Lukene- a dark Prince / shadow daddy with past trauma and huge family issues. His father is the King, and Luke was passed over as royal heir in favor of his sister, Vanna. Lilyana is his sweet, younger sister. James and Kylo work in the palace as guards but are also Luke’s closest friends. Sasha works as a servant in the palace.
Before I really start to ramble let me just get to the point and say that I found the magic system used in the book to be very interesting. As are the various creatures that pop up in the story. My curiosity has also been piqued to learn more about why/how the roses in the story became cursed, and how they are able to turn those who are pricked into mindless, vampire like zombies. I obviously also want to know what the cure is!
The enemies to lovers vibe is strong between Reign and Luke. Their banter is very enjoyable throughout the story and had me smiling and giggling here and there. I love the b@da$$ery of weapons and magic training, and reading about the trials/competition definitely kept my attention. My heart broke a little at the sweetness of our main characters acknowledging feelings for one another, and then broke all over again at least twice afterwards.
A large part of me wants to share more details but that would spoil things. If you like fantasy, dark romance, enemies to lovers, miscommunications, world building, touch her and d!€ vibes, skilled weaponry from the FMC, and crazy strength and shadow action from the MMC, then this book is for you!
This book throws you straight into the fire and never really lets you out. Reign of Betrayal hits every beat I want in a romantasy: brutal stakes, slow-burning tension, and characters who carry their scars like armor. Amber Bowe doesn’t hold back, and I was hooked from page one.
Reign is fierce, calculating, and impossible not to root for. She’s got a mission, a history, and a grudge big enough to burn kingdoms. Lukene, the Dark Prince, earns that title tenfold. He kills without hesitation in the name of his crown, but there’s a duality to him... a predator fighting against the pull of something deeper, something softer that Reign manages to draw out. Their chemistry crackles, layered with distrust, danger, and that constant question: who’s going to betray who first?
The tone is darker than expected, and it works. From the abuse in the Hollows to the shadowy politics of the kingdom, nothing feels safe. Everyone has a motive, and with a title like this, you know betrayal is coming. You just don’t know from where. Even the characters I rooted for made me second-guess myself. The pacing is sharp and deliberate, building tension step by step without ever losing momentum.
The worldbuilding felt big and lived in, dangerous, and steeped in layered magic that never needed over-explaining. From the magic to the political chains that bind these characters, everything feels part of something larger and looming.
If you want a romantasy that brings the heat, the heartbreak, and a whole lot of shadows... this one’s it. Reign and Lukene are a storm I couldn’t look away from. Bring on book two.
I had the honor of reading Reign of Betrayal prior to its publication and was lucky to witness the story’s evolution firsthand. Amber L. Bowe poured a tremendous amount of effort and passion into this book, and it’s been a privilege to watch that dedication come to life on the page.
While dark fantasy and dark romance aren’t typically my go-to genres, I was immediately intrigued by Reign of Betrayal’s harrowing setup. The first chapter plunges readers into a bleak, unforgettable prison where Reign, the main character, is sentenced to live out her days. From there, the story only grows more intense and layered.
Told in dual POV, the book alternates between Reign and Prince Lukene, offering glimpses into both of their inner lives. I especially appreciated the overlapping scenes—where one moment is reframed through a new perspective—adding depth and emotional texture to key events. Lukene, the so-called Dark Prince, is a brooding and powerful figure. Fans of morally gray love interests and shadow magic tropes will find plenty to enjoy in his arc.
There’s no shortage of plot in this book—trials, secrets, alliances, betrayals—and it moves at a breakneck pace. Reign must face a series of challenges in order to earn her place at court, and the stakes are high. The palace politics, mysterious events, and magical creatures (yes, including wyverns!) are sure to appeal to fans of high-drama fantasy.
One of my favorite parts of the story was Reign’s relationships, especially her dynamic with Lilyana. Their bond was quick and genuine, and their scenes together added moments of softness and hope amidst the darker plotlines. Reign’s backstory is heart-wrenching, and her moments of connection—whether with fellow prisoners or palace allies—add humanity to a brutal world.
Every good fantasy needs a villain you love to hate, and Vanna more than delivers. I found myself more and more frustrated with her with each appearance—which speaks to how fully realized and detestable she is on the page. Amber does not shy away from creating tension through character conflict, and it pays off.
Reign of Betrayal is a bold, dark, and dramatic debut from Amber L. Bowe. If you’re a reader who enjoys shadow magic, forbidden romance, found family, forced proximity, magical trials, and jaw-dropping no secrets—and betrayal, this one belongs on your TBR. Just be sure to check your trigger warnings—some scenes dive into incredibly heavy territory.
Reign of Betrayal is a masterclass in slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance set against a backdrop of blood-soaked trials, courtly intrigue, and a kingdom on the brink of ruin. From the first page, the tension is razor-sharp, the stakes are life-or-death, and the atmosphere is thick with danger and desire.
Reign is the kind of heroine readers will rally behind—fierce, cunning, and driven by revenge, yet layered with vulnerability that makes her utterly real. Watching her navigate the deadly trials within the Hollows is both heart-pounding and deeply satisfying. And then there’s Lukene—the dark prince whose icy heart and sharp edges conceal a complexity that will make you fall hard and fast. Their chemistry? Explosive. Their banter? Unmatched. Their journey? Painful, passionate, and perfectly paced.
As secrets unravel and betrayal rears its venomous head, Reign of Betrayal delivers twist after twist, each more devastating than the last. The romance doesn’t soften the world—it survives it. And that’s what makes it so powerful.
This isn’t just a fantasy romance—it’s a dark, immersive saga of survival, sacrifice, and the cost of power. Perfect for fans of morally gray characters, brutal court politics, and slow-burn romance with teeth.
5 stars—raw, romantic, and gloriously ruthless. A must-read for dark fantasy lovers.
After following the author’s page and seeing all the character art and quotes, I was beyond excited to receive an e-ARC of this book.
And it did not disappoint! This story includes some of my absolute favorite tropes and elements from beloved reads like Throne of Glass, Fourth Wing, and Powerless. After finishing, I’m super curious to see how certain themes will be developed further—it definitely has a lot of potential. And that cliffhanger?!🥺
Reign is such a unique character, and Lukene is the ultimate “touch her and die” shadow daddy we all want! The side characters and their development were also really well done—Liliana, Sasha, Elm, and Kylo were definite standouts for me. The prison scenes, the trials, and the adventures that follow added so much variety and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I do wish we got a bit more on the wyverns, especially after that final trial… and the ending left me also feeling a bit conflicted. After Lukene shared his trauma, I kind of expected we’d be done with a certain someone—so I’m really curious why they’re still being held back. Also, I’m low-key still wondering about Elliot!
I definitely have some theories about where the story could go next, and I’m very excited to read the sequel!
I received this book as an ARC and all I can say is WOW! I can’t believe this is Amber’s debut novel! I could not put this book down! It grabbed my attention from the very beginning and consistently kept my attention throughout the entire book.
There are some very difficult and uncomfortable subjects throughout certain parts of the book so please read the trigger warnings. I will say that I like that these subjects didn’t overpower the entire book, and it wasn’t over done, but they gave insight into the characters and their motives.
The writing is a style that I really enjoy. It was poetic and beautifully descriptive! It was easy to get lost in & picture the events of the book. The pacing was great, there were great relationships and character development. It’s definitely an entertaining and intriguing enemies to lovers slow burn. What I really loved about it is the fact that the slow burn is beautifully paced and it doesn’t drag you along. The interactions between the characters is such a fine balance of giving you glimpses of what you want but also not giving too much at once. The story pulls you along and keeps you invested and interested in what happens next.
I experienced a whole gamut of emotions…I cringed, I was mad at times, I laughed, I cried, I loathed certain characters, loved certain characters, I swooned, yearned & kicked my feet. What more could you want out of a book?!
I cannot wait until the next book comes out! I’m excited to see how the rest of the story unfolds. FYI - this book ends on a cliffhanger. I don’t know what Amber put into this book but it’s addicting and I want more of it!!
I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC for this book and let me tell you , it was my first ARC of 2025 . That could be good and bad …. Let me tell you why !! Amber did a phenomenal job ! I don’t know that I will have any other arc reads this year as I have not been as active reading but I would not be sad if it was …… bc man . I devoured this book !!! It’s all ready in my top five faves so far this year . If you like : - Enemies to lovers !! ( my fav ) - Forbidden love - Shadow daddy - Revenge - Magical beasts - Trials - Cursed kingdom ???
I could keep going !! This book , Reign of Betrayal is for you !!! I don’t like to give reviews with spoilers …so I won’t go in to it , but I’m telling you 10/10 must read . When I was finished.. I had all the feels . I wanted book two right then . This book is not even released and I’m like “GIVE ME BOOK TWO I NEED IT !” No joke .
I’m blown away that this is Ambers debut book . If this what she is giving us to start I can’t wait to continue to follow her and see what’s next !!
WOW!!! For this being a debut novel, the author KILLED IT!!! 😍
Reign of Betrayal follows Reign- a prisoner who wants revenge on those who wronged her and Lukene- the dark and ruthless prince. They are sworn enemies due to the nature of their situation and you know what happens when enemies spend too much time together. 😉
The enemies to lovers trope in this book was so well done and I ate up every bit of it! The tension throughout the book had me in a chokehold and it did not disappoint!
The character development among the main characters was also fantastic as you saw the changes in their personalities as they learned to let their guards down to experience joy and love, but also heartbreak and betrayal.
This book does end on a cliffhanger that’ll make you scream, but don’t worry, book 2 will come out and make it all better! 😘
First of all, prince & prisoner ? sign me up. this book had me GRIPPPED from the first chapter. there are some heavy topics in this book, so please check the trigger warnings before diving in. i loved reign, i thought she was the perfect FMC. i loved her so much that when she was happy, i was happy. if she was sad, MY HEART LITERALLY ACHED.
This book was absolutely captivating, and I really loved the enemies to lovers. Reign is such a fierce FMC and I loved the dynamic between her and Lukene is so addicting! The slow burn and yearning through out the book really sold me in this enemies to lovers. I honestly cannot wait for the second books! Emotionally heartbreaking but so satisfying, I highly recommend the read.
This is an absolute must read! Amber had me up on many late nights unable to put this book down, sneaking it at work. Prince Lukene is my newest book boyfriend, he is so dreamy. 🤤 The story itself, I am invested and I need the second one. Reign is such an interesting character and the experiences she has are just as riveting. This is definitely a DARK romance, make sure to prepare yourself for that. Overall, I was enthralled and could not put it down, I cannot wait for the next one and find out what happens after the insane cliffhanger we were left on. 😋 I will be recommending this to everyone I know.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and all I can say is wow. This is a dual POV dark fantasy that follows Reign and Lukene throughout this incredible story. The plot development and character arcs were masterful and the world building was spread out in a way that didn’t feel overwhelming like a lot of fantasy can.
The emotional journey the book took me on had me in shambles by the end. The found family, the love story, the trials, the twists and turns, the CLIFFHANGER? Pllllllease give me book 2 immediately!
Firstly, a big thank you to Amber for giving me the chance to read this! It's my first ARC and full review, so please bear with me...
I see all the 5 star ratings, don’t rain hell down on me for my piddly little 2 stars haha
Definitely check out the trigger warnings before jumping into read!
Main Tropes:
Slow-burn
Morally Grey MMC
Forbidden Romance
Enemies to Lovers
Found Family
Betrayal (obviously, it’s in the name)
Trials
"Reign of Betrayal" unfolds through two perspectives: Reign, the underdog heroine imprisoned in the "hollows," and Lukene, the shadow-wielding prince with a morally complex character. Lukene’s eldest sister Vanna and father rule the Kingdom with iron fists and have ruined multiple lives in the process, including Reign's. When Reign gets a chance for revenge by competing to become the royal family's champion, she grabs it.
Prince Lukene is drawn to Reign, caught between his dark side, doing what's right, and his feelings for her. His inconsistency can be frustrating, but his trauma, love for his sister Lilyanna, and relationships with James his father figure and Kylo his closest friend, along with the effort he puts into his acts of service for Reign, hint at growth in future books.
Reign is fiercely resilient, having endured hardships in and out of the hollows, and a series of abusive encounters with men (if that’s what you would like to call them…I wouldn’t). I'm hopeful she'll find her footing on her own more in the next book.
As a debut, the book shows promise, especially in the second half. Despite some similarities to the Powerless series in the first half of the book, intriguing elements like Wyverns, cursed roses, and neighbouring kingdoms kept me interested and the trauma included in some of the characters stories did pull on my heart strings.
The writing had beautiful moments, like the quote “She’s the promise of light in the darkness – the quietness in my chaos, an ember I can never touch without burning.” However, phrases like “fess up” felt out of place, like there were two different writing styles.
Overall, the main characters didn't stand out heaps, blending in with characters from similar books, there’s definitely room for growth. I enjoyed side characters like Elm, James, and Lilyanna, who added to the story. The book was challenging due to its similarities to other books and repetitiveness. The setting was intriguing, especially when exploring other parts of the world which I hope to see more of in the next book (Can you guess that I’m a fan of world building).
Please, please, please check your trigger warnings before diving in. The pacing was even enough and lead up well to the major cliff hanger ending which is partially what is keeping me invested to see how the story continues!! This debut was a decent start, though the writing style needs some refinement but I’m willing to give the series a second chance when the next book is released.
I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book!!! I could not put it down!!! It's kinda like Gladiator with a fabulous FMC!!! I can't wait for book 2!!! It does have a cliffhanger ending and check your trigger warnings!!! I loved the world building and the depth of the characters and the way the story played out. Again, I can't wait for book 2
