Duke

Rate this book
She's a sweetheart with nowhere left to run.
He's the rival MC president with a Daddy side no one sees.
When their paths collide, protection becomes possession.

Mia Delgado escaped her abusive ex with nothing but her loyal German Shepherd and the clothes on her back. On the run from the Iron Serpents, she knows what happens to women who betray the club—especially those who've seen too much. But when her dog falls desperately ill, she risks everything for help.

Duke Carson doesn't do vulnerability. As president of the Heavy Kings MC, he's built walls higher than the mountains surrounding his territory. Yet something about the frightened woman with the wounded eyes breaks through his armor, awakening protective instincts he's kept buried for years.

Their connection ignites like gasoline to flame—raw, consuming, and impossible to deny. In Duke's strong arms, Mia discovers what it means to truly surrender, finding freedom in his firm hand and tender discipline. He cherishes the parts of her that others have shamed, creating a haven where her true self can finally bloom.

But when the Iron Serpents close in and secrets surface, Duke faces an impossible choice between the brotherhood he's sworn to protect and the woman who's claimed his soul. In a world where loyalty means everything, their forbidden bond might be the deadliest sin of all.

Will Duke risk everything to keep his precious one safe? Or will the shadows of her past tear them apart?

had potential, but….

There plot discrepancies! The story jumped all over the place. It could be good. I ended up skimming most of it.

Duke is the first installment of Lucky Moon’s Heavy Kings MC. In it Ms. Moon introduces readers to Duke Carson, President of the Heavy Kings and bachelor. Mia Delgado fled her Ex-boyfriend, Jesse Malone, member of a rival MC—Iron Serpents. After another beating, Mia takes her dog and leaves. She ends up in Ironridge, the hometown of the Heavy Kings. When her dog, Diesel, get sick, a fearful Mia carries her huge dog to the vets. Duke noticed her and is attracted to her. He finds her fallen and offers assistance. Instantly he knows she is a Lg, who needs protection and a caring friend and relationship. It doesn’t take long for Jesse to come looking for her. Will he find her? Can Duke protect her? Will the Iron Serpents attack the Heavy Kings? To find out, you must read this book.
I enjoyed Ms. Moon’s skill with creating multi-dimensional leading characters that are strong, determined, confident yet vulnerable. It is captivating to see how she captures their growth as this story progresses, Lastly, Readers watch how the lead characters navigate their internal conflicting emotions. I appreciate Ms. Moon’s skill with descriptive scenes further pull her readers into her captivating tale.

Excellent start to MC series…

While this is definitely a MC romance, the story arc is equally strong as the relationship development- something that often gets overlooked in this genre. DD/lg dynamic unfolds and is respectfully organic to both characters. Plus, Diesel the dog makes this book the whole package. I read reviews that talked of some of the editing and continuity glitches of which there are a few so 4 rather than 5 stars but I encourage you to read beyond them. There are also a couple of loose ends that are tickling the back of my mind but nothing too egregious. The characters are multi dimensional and behave accordingly. I particularly liked the careful discussion and handling of the lifestyle- one of the most respectful and understanding descriptions I’ve read. I found it organic and not just dropped into the mix to titillate the reader with spankings and coloring books. Since this is book 1 of the series, I look forward to seeing if this level of storytelling continues.

Great story!

Mia had a miserable life, and living with a member of the Serpents gang, she was constantly in fear of the physical abuse he heaped on her, and fear of him trying to share her with his friends. On the run for 3 weeks, and barely surviving, her dog suddenly has collapsed, and she finds herself and her dog saved by a tall gorgeous silver fox. A lot of tension, and some abuse from the Snake Ex, and others sneaking up, and a traitor in The Heavy Kings. They do manage to turn things around, and get their HEA ending. Trish. A.

Mia and Duke

This is an intense, very good, Dd/lg, Biker romance. There are many consistency errors that should have been found during editing. When Duke first meets Mia, she is trying to get Diesel, her dog to a vet. About 3/4 through, it changes to Duke finding her in a gas station. Mia has a bad nightmare and Duke breaks down her door, then they sleep on her bed. Later they have moved to his apartment instead. How she takes her coffee changes at times. I really liked the story and hope for more from this series.

A really good book🤩🤩

I really liked the storyline of this book, and I am going to read the rest in this series😊

When that is said, then I can say that there are some flaws in this book, some parts that don't add up...
Mention of diesel's sounds but the dog comes 10 pages later, they are minor but still annoying, that's the only reason I give the book a 4 instead of a 5 star rating😊

Why, why, why do authors not make certain that their book descriptions include the fact that the underlying theme of the book is “Littles”?
I can accept a lot of unique personal behavior preferences, but I cannot fathom the intrigue of Littles. It is beyond my scope of imaginative sexual situations and desires.
It is also so far out of the norm that I think it should be stated up front. I hate wasting my time.

This book would’ve been a good duet. I feel certain parts were rushed, some were overly talked about and some repeated. This book is not heavy on the ddlg aspect and is not smutty. I do feel the part where they became intimate was a little weird and sudden for the situation at hand. Overall the storyline was good but I don’t feel myself continuing the series.

Well Written

A lot of complexity with heart and soul. Duke, an older, stern but gentle man, finally finds a woman as complex as he is: Mia. A little, strong and resilient, has his daddy side coming out slowly. But when danger hits, all bets are off.

Editing needed for continuity

Way too many glaring errors in continuity. Paying attention to details helps the reader stay engaged. I spent too much time figuring out where the details didn’t match to stay engaged.

Duke

Duke and Mia and Diesel! Loved the dog and the owner, the intricate personality of a little, how strong and vulnerable she is at the same time and the respect between the two, his patience and understanding and her resilience.
