What happens when a fake engagement turns into the realest thing you’ve ever felt?
Sophie Lin never believed in happily ever afters. A travel blogger with a fear of commitment and a love for chaos, she’s made a career out of chasing sunsets and skipping attachments. So when a PR stunt lands her in a fake engagement with the world’s most emotionally repressed pilot, she figures she’ll survive two weeks of pretending—no strings, no feelings, no problem.
Daniel Carter lives by the rules—checklists, schedules, and keeping his heart safely at cruising altitude. Agreeing to pose as Sophie’s fiancé was supposed to be simple. Smile for the camera, play along, and get through the absurdity without losing his sanity… or his job.
But somewhere between staged kisses, viral photos, and late-night heart-to-hearts, pretending starts to feel dangerously real. Now their fake love story has the whole world watching… and the only question left will either of them be brave enough to make it real?
Love at First The Story of Sophie and Daniel is a witty, slow-burn romantic comedy full of banter, beach sunsets, and the terrifying thrill of falling for someone when you least expect it.
Received as an Arc by the amazing author ❤️ This book was such a fun summer read. The pacing was great, the character growth was amazing, and the banter was ✨impeccable✨I really enjoy a Grumpy/Sunshine romance and this was done really well. I also thought there were some good and funny quotes, definitely worth the read❤️
📚Every story had to start somewhere. Even the ridiculous ones. Especially the ridiculous ones.📚
I prefer 1st person over 3rd person, but I still really enjoyed this book. There were parts that had me laughing a lot. I love how Daniel is a perfectionist and needs plans and Sophie is so spontaneous and carefree. They really clash but also work so well together. Both characters had great growth near the end of the book. I recommend this book as a fun summer read. Super quick and lots of fun banter. I would definitely read it again!
This was an adorable love story that tugged on my heart and had a top-tier running-through-the-airport-because-I-love-you-and-don’t-want-you-to-leave scene.
A cold, calculating man slowly becoming soft and romantic for one person and one person only is my kryptonite. Even in the beginning, when she first fell asleep on his shoulder and he allowed it, I knew I was going to have fun reading this book. And I did!
I really enjoyed most of this, but I will say I felt like the pacing wasn’t quite right. The beginning jumped straight in to the fake engagement scenario. I barely knew the characters at all, and they were already being shoved into the situation, and since I didn’t know them, I didn’t really care yet. I wish we had a moment to get to know the characters before the action really started in order to make the action more impactful.
I also felt like after chapter 31 and the epic airport scene, the book was kind of dragging along. While I enjoyed seeing their love story grow in the real world, it was like every chapter felt like the end of the book and yet it kept going in an almost unsatisfying way.
Overall, this was a fun romcom that I would recommend for an easy beach read!
I received a complimentary copy as part of Library Thing’s Early Reviewers Program, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Favorite Quote: "Too late, "she said brightly. "You already ruined your own by Reacting like a victorian man who Just saw a woman's ankles for the frist time." Patience e the willingness to grow together even when It's inconvenient. Love isn't just about the good days, its about choosing each offer, especially on the hand ones who I would Recommend this Book to: its an open door romance 18+ to the people who Like a grumpy sunshine Rom com 2 on the Spice Scale
This was one of the best rom-coms I ever read. It was a super entertaining fun book from the start, almost like watching a movie, the fake engagement concept was interesting and the way the writer developed it was just amazing. I really loved Daniel and Sophie, they felt like real world people. The way everything was described, every scene ready to be played on the screen, I could almost imagine myself in Maldives. It was such a good read and I really felt very happy and lost track of time reading it. Actually looked forward to reading the next chapter.
The emotion, the slowburn, it was just spot on love. Everything was perfect in this book, although I wish I could have seen the wedding spreadsheet. It was so fun and the story that will definitely stay with me forever. Very good job, if you are looking for a fun and sweet rom-com this is your book.
“Love at First Flight” was a fun slow romance. I could not understand how Sophie and Daniel were set up on a free engagement trip without them or their BFs knowing each other. But, I decided to overlook that and enjoy the story. It is a delightful story that had very real truths in it about being in a love relationship. This is a very real love story — even if it started out as fake. Fun story. Very enjoyable read. I was given this ebook through LibraryThing’s Early Reviewer program and the author, Tracy Wright.
I read this as an Early Reviewer and it’s my first one ever to write a review for. I like the idea of this story, I just feel there were parts of the execution that were illogical (why does a pilot need to do PR for the airline? Doesn’t the airline have a ton of pilots and other staff?). And some of the interactions were cheesy, a bit like the character was trying too hard. Generally otherwise I felt the pacing was good, the chapters not tediously long and ultimately it was a light and easy read.
✈️ Love at First Flight by Tracy T. Wright is a sweet, swoony ride from takeoff to landing! Daniel is Mr. Rules & Routines, Sophie is the queen of chaos—and together, they’re pure rom-com magic. When a fake engagement (thanks, meddling BFFs) turns into something real, you’ll be grinning, swooning, laughing and maybe screaming just a little.
Tracy’s writing is heartfelt, fun, and refreshingly real—this book is like a warm hug with a side of jet lag. Can’t wait for the next destination! 💕
Love at First Flight is the perfect mix of swoony, funny, and heart melting. Sophie and Daniel’s fake engagement had me laughing, blushing, and rooting for them the whole way through. Tracy T. Wright nails the slow-burn chemistry and gives us a story full of banter, tropical sunsets, and that terrifying thrill of falling for someone when you least expect it. If you love fake dating, opposites attract, and romcoms with heart, this one’s a must read!
soooo I did not expect this to be as adorable, and hilarious as it was, being a debuet novel this story was absolutly everything I wanted in a Enimies to loveres forced proximity romance the MMC and FMC are perfectly flawed and honestly i loved this book! i cant wait to see what happens next in this world!
I absolutely loved this book! It has the perfect mix of humor and romance. The characters have great chemistry. It’s so swooney and flirty. I also loved all of the travel and wanderlust this book offered. This has been one of my favorite books I’ve read in a long time.
I loved this story and loved the banter!!! It had me laughing from page one. The only thing I struggled with was lack of definition between the two POVs.
Meet Sophie and Daniel. Daniel is a Commercial Airline Captain and Sophie is a travel blogger influencer. These two are entered into a free Honeymoon getaway to the Maldives, but yet they don’t know each other.
Daniel is your typical evening must be planned type person. He is always on a schedule and must be early. Sophie is 100% fly by the seat of her pants. You could say she thrives on chaos. These two couldn’t be more different than each other.
For PR purposes on both sides they fake an engagement for the Honeymoon trip. Now, we all know opposites are prone to attract, so do these two fall in love? Can they handle a long distance relationship if so? Luckily for both of them they have two very supportive friends that help them through everything.
