When barbarians mobilize for an invasion, only a select few have the means to save the universe. As the Commonwealth reels from internal strife, Carson Flint and his companions must step up to prevent a coup. Their actions may well save a nation, while failure would most certainly doom them all.
Meanwhile, the Lumari are under direct assault from the Thortan warlords. With their military scattered about their territory, only a small force comes to their aid. The violence has come straight to their homeworld, intent to end their existence as they know it. If their allies cannot hold off the threat while their forces muster, their fall may well usher in devastating consequences for all life in the galaxy.

So, I made it all the way through the "Spacebar" series. The first book started slow and was rather confusing, and the last book was extremely predictable, but, hey, he got me to read them all - so four stars. I'm constantly amazed at authors that can produce these serials. When they sit at a computer do words just ooze out of their fingers and strike the correct keys without conscious intervention (well, there are some errors)? If you're a space pirates genre fan, I think you can embrace the slog, and enjoy most of it.
I am very sad that this fine series has come to an end,. I shall miss it greatly. I almost didn't start it because of the Spacebar part of the title, but a now glad I did. A nice, long, good read.
A good finish to what I would judge to be a series of mostly average books. That is the first and last were better than most of the middle, which were not bad, but are not as good as the end books.
