Touch of Oblivion

Rate this book
I wasn’t created to love—only to destroy. But fate doesn’t ask permission.

I wake to a world in chaos, the taste of stardust on my tongue and fragments of galaxies burning behind my eyes.

No name. No past. No idea how I came to be here.

In the ruins of a shattered battlefield, they find me wrapped in smoke and splattered with blood that isn’t mine—each of them desperate to decipher who I am and why I’ve been thrust into their war.

They claim to be kings of this world, with the power to protect me.

A wraith who moves like smoke but feels like fire, igniting sparks that dance beneath my skin.
A fae with a silver tongue and lips I ache to trust.
A vampire who drinks desire like wine and vows to ruin me sweetly.
And a shape-shifting predator whose hungry gaze sets my pulse racing, hinting at danger and surrender—if I want it.

They circle me like wolves, drawn to a power and vulnerability they can’t resist. Their heated glances and whispered promises awaken something inside me...a longing that trembles on the line between defiance and desire.

While I may feel the pull of each of them, I know I wasn’t made for their cages, gilded or otherwise. But in a fractured world at war between man and magic, I’ll need allies as I uncover who—and what—I truly am.

As their lustful whispers tangle with my thoughts and their searing touches threaten to unravel me, fragments of my memories begin to surface.

Each of them swears they’ll never let me go.

But they’ll soon learn I wasn’t made to be kept.

Some call me death. Others, salvation.

When I rise, the world will remember what it means to fall.

mysterious, bantery, and bingeable. each of the four kings is delicious in their own way, and their growing tension with wren was sooo good but didn’t overpower the plot for me. This set up the stakes and characters in a that has me dying for book 2 stat!!

expect:
- why choose
- slow burn
- paranormal x human war
- unique magic

RL is back in her why choose era babyyy, and Touch of Oblivion was literal perfection!

Wren’s character was honestly such a contradiction, but in the best way. She’s thrust into a world she has no recollection of, is unsure of everything and everyone around her, but at the same is so feisty, self assured, and takes no shit.

& the kings!? Shadow daddy wraith, Azyric, gentle giant shifter, Torryn, silver tongued Sylvan, and the alluring vampire, Riven 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 I understand why Wren didn’t want to choose

BUT THE WAY THAT THIS ENDED?! Rude!!! I need more damn it 😭😩

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧:
- FMC with amnesia and hidden powers
- four rival kings who don’t want to share
- war between humans & supes
- possessive and protective MMCs
- touch her and die
- tension filled and angsty slow burn

WOW. To say I loved this book would be the biggest understatement. This was one of the best why choose / fantasy romances I have read in a while. It’s a fantasy why choose featuring 4 powerful, morally grey, king MMCs (wraith, shifter, fae, & vampire), & an FMC from an unknown world / place with amnesia & no memory of her past or how she got here. There’s multiple POV’s, & tropes including one bed, forced proximity, touch her & die, found family, fate, & more. All of which has me insanely excited for what’s to come. Our FMC Wren is hands down one of my favorite FMC’s ever. She’s incredibly strong & her journey to finding herself resonated with me so much. Reading her thoughts & feelings felt like RL was talking to my soul. I resonated so much with Wren it felt like RL literally grabbed my soul & shoved it into this character. She felt like a part of me. The MMC’s are also the definition of the perfect book boyfriends. The way they care for & guide Wren is incredible. I really loved how this book focused on getting to know each of them individually as well. One of the biggest things in why choose that I notice falls flat is when we don’t get to know the characters well which makes the physical or intimate nature of things less impactful. The build up in this story was PHENOMENAL. Riven has me in a literal chokehold right now & is one of my favorite MMC’s ever.

I’m not an emotional person usually & it takes a lot to make me cry, but this book had me feeling so much & brought tears to my eyes. This showed the beautiful emotional side of why choose genre / relationships. Seeing how each MMC connected with the FMC on such an intimate level emotionally was beyond impactful. She has no idea who she is & no memory of her past, but she’s slowing finding herself with the help of these men. They each take such care & time with her with everything, & always make sure she is comfortable & feeling safe. Even when it comes to physical intimacy it’s completely at her pace & comfortability. I can’t wait to see how it progresses in book two. It was so nice having this first book focus on the characters & relationships individually, because it has me so beyond invested & excited for the next chapter. It wasn’t rushed or just straight smutty. The build up was INCREDIBLE. You can literally feel their emotions through the page.

The why choose genre is about so much more than smex. It’s about love, emotional intimacy, & trust. Having that makes the physical portion of things so much more impactful. The build up to it in the book was beyond worth it b/c you were able to connect with them emotionally first. It was one of those moments that had my heart racing & butterflies flying b/c it was done so beautifully. This was an easy 5 star read for me & my favorite of RL’s books. She has my whole heart with this book.

5⭐️ I think there might have been glue on my hands or something the way I could NOT put my kindle down after I started reading this book. A WHY CHOOSE, fantasy romance, with shifters, fae, vampires, a FMC who doesn’t know who she is, and 4 MMC’s who hate eachother yet want her??? I WAS SAT. I also loved the build of each relationship. Like the way Riven flirted with her? The way Torryn was a gentle giant? The way Sylvin was poetic yet funny? & the way Azyric fought the connection even though his shadows.. 🤭🤭 YEAAAH. Also, I loved the plot.. amnesia trope with hidden powers? Also that ending???? Omg, I inhaled this and seriously didn’t want to go to sleep till i finished this. THATS how good this was! But, I now have a love hate relationship with finishing this book.. LOVE because it was SOOOO good, but HATE because I now have to wait for the next one omgggg.

R.L. is a see the author's name, instant click buy for me. And I've already promised to buy this whole series based off the prologue alone.

Touch of Oblivion follows Wren (we're soul mates, fight me) and her discovery of her purpose. The men? 🤤🤤

We have the most vampire of all vampires who is designed to make you swoon, the drama king elf with a soft side, the shifter with strong daddy vibes, and a shadow daddy you hate to love (or love to hate depending on the chapter). Will die for all of them.

I needs the rest of the series because R.L. loves to rip my heart out by pushing me off cliffs.

I love it.

(Oh, and I received this as an ARC copy and alpha read it, but am still buying every variation of this book when they are available.)

I think my brain is broken because this has everything I love, but I just couldn't get invested 😭

I was expecting a lot more tension with the slow burn and apart from one of the MMCs were didn't get that.

I'm gutted because I absolutely love everything else I've read from R.L. Caulder!

I read the blurb… and promptly forgot it the moment I cracked open the book. 😅 But oh boy, did this story own me anyway. I fell hard—for the world, for the mystery, for the chaos… but especially for the Kings. And now I’m sitting here, clutching my heart, overwhelmed by feelings and lust and pain and hope, wondering how in the stardust I’m supposed to wait for book two 😭💀✨

This book threw me into the aftermath of a bloody battlefield where a girl with no name, no memories, and stardust in her veins awakens surrounded by four dangerously powerful men. Wren—gods, WREN—was found wreathed in smoke and blood, and from the first page, I knew I’d love her. And I did. I do. 😭🔥

She’s a walking contradiction in the best way: vulnerable but savage, broken but fearless, confused but absolutely unapologetic. The way she owns her space in a world she barely understands?? Chef’s kiss 👑🖤

And the Kings??
Oh. My. Stars.
mama LIKEEEEEEES 🥵
🖤 Azyric – a shadow daddy with fire in his bones
🐺 Torryn – gentle giant alpha shifter who melts your insides
🧛‍♂️ Riven – the vampire you shouldn’t trust but desperately want to
🧝‍♂️ Sylvan – fae with a mouth that should be illegal 😮‍💨

Each of them is seductive, dangerous, loyal, and absolutely not on board with sharing Wren… which, of course, made my little “Why Choose” loving heart SCREAM because oh yes, she might just have to choose none of them. 😏❤️‍🔥

But Wren? She wasn’t made to be caged—gilded or otherwise. She’s not just caught in a war between humans and supes… she’s a weapon or maybe a salvation, and the more she remembers, the scarier (and more beautiful) her destiny becomes.

The world-building? 🔥 Immaculate. Rich, vivid, and crawling with magic and menace. Every location felt alive. Every supernatural rule made me want to read a side book about it. The lore is deep, dark, and tangled in secrets—my favorite kind. 👏

Also, the ending?? RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. 😭 I yelled. I gasped. I might’ve thrown a pillow. Wren, I get why you didn’t want to choose… but now I can’t choose either!! I need book 2 yesterday.

📚 Perfect for fans of:
✨ From Blood and Ash
✨ Den of Vipers (but with more emotion and better plotting tbh)
✨ The Four Horsemen series
✨ Fantasy romance that’s drippy with tension, magic, and heat

💫 Tropes you’ll devour:
• Amnesia and hidden powers 🧠🪄
• Four rival kings who do not want to share 😤
• Possessive, protective, dangerously HOT MMCs 🔥
• War between humans and supes ⚔️
• Touch her and die 😈
• Banter, slow burn, and soul-deep angst 😭
• Bingeable chaos with mystery, magic, and steamy tension 🔥🌪️

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC opportunity! 🖤 I am not okay after this, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Four brutal kings and a female with a steel backbone, all wrapped up in a romantasy with shifters, fae, vampires, and wraiths? Yes, please. Touch of Oblivion was outstanding!

Wren has amnesia, but she's no pushover. She stands her ground against pushy supes. It was interesting seeing Wren figure out the world through her quiet observations. She's insightful and quickly puts things together, but only voices her opinions when needed. She has a little fire in her belly but knows when to use it. I swear she's a saint. There were so many times when I would have popped off and gotten myself into a crap load of trouble. She's a better person than I am.

Each king leads their own faction and is literally mortal enemies, but have allied together to fight a war against humans. I have never met a harem that hated each other more. Together, they are a hot mess of cheap shots, squabbling, and mistrust. How they pulled it together enough for an alliance, I will never know. However, when it's just them, Wren, I can see the appeal. All of them are guarded and wear masks, but are unwavering in their loyalty to their people. I loved the soft moments Wren got with each of them.

I've never read a story that had Wren's type of supernatural as the MC. They were just talked about in passing, but I got the general concept. Wren, being what she was, made the plot that much more intriguing. The magic, the moral implications, and all the what-if questions were enough to keep me hooked, never mind all the juicy romance bits. Which is a good thing because this was a slow burn. Like, I see smoke, but where's the fire? The twist came at the end, and I don't know what to do.

There are brutal cliffhangers, and then there are cliffhangers that will ruin you. Guess which one Caulder went with. I mean... What. The. Actual.... I was bawling! I am not okay. However, if you love a good fantasy, I highly suggest reading Touch of Oblivion. Then we can be not okay together.

Captivating and Unique 💛
Thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the trilogy!
Our FMC Wren is an unknown supernatural who has clear ties to the earth and it appears some significant threads in time 😳 how we she has amnesia and cannot remember who she is exactly or what her purpose is 🙈 she wakes in a war torn America, between the supernaturals and the humans and she needs to figure out her place amongst it all! The supes are being lead by the four kings, who coincidentally are enemies, and the tension between them is fierce - despite trying to band together to fight the humans 😬 there’s Azyric the wraith and weilder shadows whose standoffish nature hides a well of emotions; Slyvin the winter fae with dramatic flairs but will show his softer side; Torryn, many animal shifter almost immediately understands Wren but has to battle his protective instincts; finally Riven the vampire who isn’t afraid to go all in to demonstrate his affection 🥰 this men are widely different and you get to see how they help Wren who despite her memory loss is steadfast in her beliefs and courageous in standing by them despite knowing it will anger her men 💪 there’s angst between them at times as well as pure connection 😍 but honestly the way that culminates into that cliffhanger 😮
I’ve always loved RL’s work and this was no exception!

I was absolutely absorbed in this book from pretty much the first page! It’s honestly my favorite read of the year if not ever! If I could give it more stars than 5 I would because it was that good! Although that cliffhanger tore at me something fierce! Can’t wait for the next book and while I’m not sad I read it, I wish it was a completed series hard core, because I’m that in love with it and waiting til January when I read this In July as it literally came out, is going to be a long 6-7 months wait for the next one and even longer for book 3! I’m crying for the wait and crying over the cliffhanger and the characters I love so gosh darn much so fast! Just so freaking good! For someone who reads absolutely butt loads of paranormal RH, to say it’s a shock that’s there something that I’ve never really quite read before in terms of the storyline is wow, but also she found a new take on shifter lore that I’ve not really heard of before and this whole storyline was just all shocking and fresh! Can’t say enough good about this book!

I had the opportunity to Alpha read Touch of Oblivion and it is now one of my favorite R.L. Caulder books! Such an interesting and powerful read. The fmc is the perfect balance of vulnerable and fierce and the men in this book are just chefs kiss! Soft and sweet, the comedic relief, the broody one, and the obsessive and dominant one.. they are the reason I read why choose so I can have everything I want!

The suspense of the plot and the fmcs amnesia kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, there were so many moving parts but experiencing everything with the fmc for the first time felt magical and truly made me stop and appreciate what I have in real life too. The FMC is exactly what the world needs more of and I cannot wait to see where this series goes next!

5 ⭐️ AND MORE!

We’re dropped into this chaotic, war-torn world through the eyes of a woman with no memory, no name, and no clue who (or what) she really is. All she knows is that she was created for a purpose and she’ll know what that is when the time comes.

Wren is the FMC and is genuinely one of the more level-headed heroines I’ve read lately. Even without her memories, she’s calm and grounded (quite literally given her earth connection) and doesn’t act like a total muppet under pressure, which I loved.

Then we meet the Four Kings … each of whom is powerful, mysterious and even though one of them is a bit of a dick I’m still intrigued. There’s tension, there’s heat and there’s that underlying feeling that something big is coming. And that ending … JFC way to throw me off a cliff.

I’m already annoyed I can’t read book two yet …

Absolutely no notes. I devoured this and would 100% recommend to anyone who loves a bit of mystery, a teensy tiny bit of spice and a slow-burn unraveling of identity and destiny.

I am honored to be apart of RL’s beta team. I have to say I haven’t read anything I didn’t like, but this one in particular is an amazing book for R.L.’s why choose comeback.

We have 4 kings who all want her, and a strong FMC who is honest to a fault and won’t deal with any nonsense from anyone. Poor Wren suffers from amnesia and she’s found in the middle of a war between the humans and the supernatural. 4 men/kings find her and she finds herself drawn to each of them. If you like why choose with alpha males who would do anything for the FMC then look no further. R.L. is an amazing author and this book like all the others DID NOT disappoint!!

This is book 1 of the Woven in Time series.

Now while I have devoured everything this author has ever written- this book takes the cake. I haven’t read such a well rounded harem in a while and I’m so happy to see her back in her why choose era.

The FMC is soft but with a backbone. The men- well let’s just say I’ve never had trouble ranking the harem members but these guys were constantly making me change my mind until it just became a tie(this is why I read RH).

It’s an emotional ride but one I would gladly do again. Can’t wait for the next book 😍

Let me start off by saying this is R. L. Caulder’s best book yet. The world building is amazing and vivid. The characters have so much depth to them and many sides to them that you are not expecting.

Wren, is my top favorite character in ANY of this authors books which I didn’t know could even be possible! She is such a likeable character and you can’t help but root for her!

The Kings are HOT! I can’t decide which is my favorite and I’m not telling you anything so you have to read to find out!

Need book two in my hands asap!

Erm, excuse while I go and sob in a corner.

my heart got ripped out at that ending. I just, I can't even.

What the hell Caulder?! 🫣😭😂

If you like horrible cliff hangers like that, this book is for you!

The world building to this was just incredible. Each faction was completely different. Some were welcoming, others not so much. Riven, Torryn, Sylven and Azyric are all gorgeous, in their own way. The care they have for Wren is truly felt. I enjoyed this book so much, it flowed perfectly. The emotions throughout this book had me up and down, shouting and sobbing. Absolutely incredible. Book two now, please!

RL Caulder does it again!!

UGH this book is truly so good. It pulls you in with the classic love…square? and the curiosity behind who Wren is. Like other all her other FMCs, Wren is strong, determined, and intelligent. She may not know who she is or what her purpose is but she will carve one out for herself just fine. I CANNOT WAIT for book 2 to see what happens next!!

SO! MUCH! FUN! All the angst, diabolical decisions and tension made this incredibly hard to put down! R.L.’s writing just meshes well with my brain it’s easy to read and keeps me excited.

I really liked the world we were brought into I found that and the lore to be really interesting. I think that was the strongest part of the book that and Wren’s backstory. It was unique!

I did enjoy the characters and all the different dynamics in each relationship but they did lack depth. The characters/relationships felt predictable in a way. Now did this bother me or take away from my enjoyment of the story? Not at all. but I can acknowledge that it wasn’t perfect.

I loved the cliffhanger that was a diabolical choice and I can’t wait for book 2!!

I was instantly captivated by this world and these characters! Wren is discovering who she is and what she’s capable of. She seeks to understand the world around her but may end up lost in the chaos.

The four powerful kings of each faction—Torryn the shapeshifter, Sylvin the fae, Riven the vampire, and Azyric the wraith—are all drawn to her with a varying mix of reservation, reverence, and longing. I cannot wait to further explore their relationships and uncover what fate has in store for them in the next book.

Thick with tension, intrigue, and high-stakes, Touch of Oblivion is a fast-paced and thrilling first installment in new why choose romantasy series!

Wren is a Weaver sent to earth to be there for it in its time of need. some time has passed, and I'm not sure how much, since I don't think there were any dates, which kind of bothered me. I liked Wren and the men. The story was entertaining and a good read. this is not a complete series. I was recomened this book and told it is a slow burn, but that is not the case. All in all, I look forward to the next book!

The prologue really set the tone for this book so I was super excited. However the book was a little too fast paced for my liking. Fast paced in a way that there was a lot of romance and I really wanted to focus on Wren and her purpose so I was pushing through. A bit more time with the love interests would have been nice too just to expand their relationship and such. I’ll definitely check out book two because I wanna know what Wren chooses!

“I see someone fierce enough to survive this world, and someone kind enough to care for it and its flaws.”

I will start by saying that I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own. Thank you so much to R.L Caulder for sending a copy my way

Touch of Oblivion was a fantastic start to a new why choose, paranormal series. It ended on one of the biggest reveals and cliffhangers that I was left staring at a wall for ages as I tried to process what I had just read. There was a perfect balance between the war plot and the slow-burning romance, which makes this a fast favourite.

Humankind, in its greed, violated agreements with supernatural beings, driven by territorial ambition. Fed up, the shifters, wraiths, fae and vampires join forces to fight back. In the middle of one battle, Wren wakes up. The humans leave her for dead, and no one is willing to risk their life to save her. It’s on this mangled battlefield where Wren meets the four kings—Torryn, the shifter king, Sylivn, the fae king, Azyric, the wraith king and Riven, the vampire king. Wren is drawn to all of them. Desperate for allies to help her discover who she is, Wren is thrust into the middle of their war despite wanting peace. As her purpose and powers reveal themselves, Wren discovers that maybe she’s not the saviour they need.

I normally don’t like the amnesia trope, but I didn’t mind it here. The prologue offered a clue concerning Wren, which piqued my interest in uncovering her nature. She has the biggest heart. Wren attempts to protect everybody but promptly recognises that true security eludes everyone during warfare

Riven! Be still, my beating heart! I know in a why choose romance we aren’t supposed to play favourites, but he might just be mine. Riven is why I am and will always be a vampire girly. He is the perfect possessive, secret cinnamon roll hero. This man had me swooning all over the place.

I love how each of the guys shows Wren, in his own way, that he will stand by her despite the people’s objections. Wren’s romances with each of the kings develop at different paces. These boys do not play nicely together, so it will be interesting to see how this why choose develops in the sequel.

I am so intrigued by the world! There are Eternals vibes here, which I am obsessed with. I loved the glimpses we have of all four of the supernatural races. I’m obsessed.

I don’t say this often, but I think everyone needs to read this. I was hooked from the first page. The ending has left me emotionally wrecked. I’m counting down the days until the next book. I have so many questions that need answering.

Thank you to the author for a free copy of this book. All thoughts are my own and are given freely.

This book is the start of a fantasy series filled with slow burn tension, amnesia and finding your place in the world.

Wren, our FMC, doesn't know who or what she is. She wakes up alone in the middle of a battlefield and is suddenly faced with four kings of different supernatural factions. They attempt to claim her in their war against the humans, not quite knowing what she is but that she is powerful. In an attempt to learn, she agrees to go with each of the kings to understand their people and try to discover her place in the world and her connection to the earth.

Each of the Kings are different from each other, unique in their approach and temperament. They are each drawn to Wren and want her to choose them, but as she makes her way through each of their kingdoms, its clear she is drawn to each of them in return.

I enjoyed learning about each of the supernatural races alongside Wren as she was in the various kingdoms. I do wish we got to spend a bit more time within the kingdoms, with her interacting more with the people, instead of her time being monopolized by the Kings. I would have liked to see a bit more world development when it comes to the people the Kings are trying to save. As it stands, the majority of the book is Wren with the four men, only having brief moments outside of that. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I just am left wanting more. I want to see the people that the Kings love so much to go to war over. I want to see how they interact with each other and with the world, what their daily lives look like. We do get a bit of this with the Shifter community but unfortunately it just feels a bit rushed and limited.

We do get to see the inner workings of the four kings when it comes to their beliefs about the war against the humans. It is clear that they will do anything for their people, to keep them safe from the threat they are facing. There is a pivotal moment with Wren's powers at the fae court that shows this very belief. It is powerful, and heartbreaking, but when your life is threatened you do what you have to do.

I can not wait for book two and to explore more of the world and Wren's magic. The book ended in a cliffhanger and I am eager to know what her choice was, especially faced between two horrible options.

“𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚–𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙙, 𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙔𝙚𝙩…𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙛𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙝. 𝙄 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙤𝙗𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙧.”

ugh, when i tell you know that no one writes a heart wrenching fantasy like R.L. Caulder, i am not kidding. i knew by just the prologue that the cliffhanger was going to be painful and leave you wondering why the second book in this trilogy isn’t out yet. but 𝙋𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙀, do not let that deter you from reading this first book bc meeting Wren and the four kings are totally worth it.

after the prologue, our fmc wakes up in the middle of a battle between supernaturals and humans. that is where our four kings find her:
- Torryn, the protective shifter
- Sylvin, the cheeky fae
- Riven, the obsessive vampire
- Azyric, the broody shadow wraith

but Wren doesn’t remember anything about who she is and where she came from. and so in the midst of this war, the kings decide to help her figure out which faction she belongs to. however, Wren quickly realizes that tho these are four kings, they are not true allies, and are only united in this war to defeat the humans. and they want to know whose side she is on.

“𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙄 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙄 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙄 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚?”

this book is a journey while Wren learns more about each faction but also discovers who she truly is to this world.

“𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩.”

tho quiet, it is not bc she is meek, its her observing and learning all around her. and despite the men being “kings” she does not hold her tongue to them and stands her ground on how she wants to be treated.

this story has me 𝙃𝙊𝙊𝙆𝙀𝘿, and i cannot wait to see what happens to Wren and the four kings in this war.

thank you R.L. Caulder for an e-ARC of 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑶𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒏 🖤⚡️

Captivating from the very first chapter! 🔥 Unique magic system, faced paced, amazing worldbuilding and characters, and full of tension and angst.

This is the first book in a new trilogy and I can’t wait to continue it, I’m obsessed by this now. Thank you to R.L. Caulder for the eARC 🙌🏼

“Change isn’t always welcomed, but many times necessary to bring about meaningful outcomes.”

🗡️ Amnesia
⚡️ Possessive and protective alphas
🗡️ they don’t want to share her (why choose)
⚡️ the MMCs are all enemies
🗡️ the FMC has unknown powers
⚡️ Touch her and 💀
🗡️ Slow burn
⚡️ Tension and angst
🗡️ World-ending plot
⚡️ War between humans and supernatural

“You wear fear beautifully, but I think you’d be stunning in ruin.”

I normally don’t read to much why choose or amnesia tropes, but this is my favorite book to capture me with both of those. I really loved it! It was done so well and fitted the characters and world. There is lots of plot and the romance did not take anything away from that. I’m so excited to see where it goes, the stakes are high and that ending have me in a chokehold!

“She exists beside me like she belongs, and I hate how easily I let her.”

The amnesia trope was not at all irritating, just interesting to see how she discovers herself and her magic again. She feels so down to earth and yet so possibly powerful. Loved this two sides to her.

“I see someone fierce enough to survive this world, and someone kind enough to care for it and its flaws.”

The way the why choose unforlds fitted the characters so well and isn’t like any other typical why choose I have read. They are all wanting to claim her for themself, but she is not having it on their terms (loved it!). The slow burn, tension and angst was to 💀 for 🔥

“a shadow still lingers in the doorway of my heart, and I don’t know yet if it’s trying to leave or waiting to be let in”

We all love some good villains and smirks in several different ways and here you get them all combined! I was pleasantly surprised with the four males being fae, vampire, wraith and shifter. That’s very unique and I have never seen this combined before. They are all very different in all aspects and gave so much to the story.

“Somehow I feel like his prey, but I have no desire to flee.”

The world building and magic system was very cleverly explained throughout the book in a way that was natural and not overwhelming even though it has four different worlds and magics. The world seem massive too and I’m so ready to explore more in book 2!

Touch of Oblivion kicks off R.L. Caulder’s Woven in Time series with a bang—mysterious powers, enemies-to-lovers tension, and a whole lot of "why choose?" energy. If you’re into slow-burn, high-stakes romance with possessive, protective, morally gray alphas, this book delivers.

Caulder’s dramatic and descriptive writing style pulls you in from page one. The vivid world-building makes you feel like you're living *inside* the story, and the layered character development—both main and supporting—adds depth and authenticity.

Wren, our FMC, wakes up in a war-torn realm with no memory of who she is. Is it just amnesia, or something far more dangerous? Despite her vulnerability, she radiates resilience, strength, and a quiet defiance that I love to see in a heroine. She’s not just trying to survive—she’s searching for truth, purpose, and maybe even love, on her own terms.

Enter the Four Kings—each ruling their own realm, each an enemy to the others, and all impossibly drawn to Wren:

Azyric – The broody Wraith King lurking in the shadows. Mysterious and unreadable, but you *know* there’s something between them.
Torryn – The fierce Shifter King with strong protector vibes and a hint of "daddy energy" that totally works.
Sylvin – The alluring Fae King who brings beauty and charm into a dark, dangerous world.
Riven – The possessive Vampire King, whose love burns hotter than anything else in the book.

While each King has a unique bond with Wren, it’s their slow, sometimes grudging unity as they circle around her that gives this story its emotional depth. Wren’s connection to each of them is heartfelt and earned—not rushed or forced—and watching their relationships evolve was one of my favorite parts.

Yes, the book ends on a cliffhanger—but not the kind that frustrates. It leaves you *craving* more. I pre-ordered Book 2 the second I finished. R.L. Caulder, I’m hooked—please don’t make us wait too long!
