Overall good storyline. The author blends fast-paced hospital scenes with quiet, emotionally charged moments, making the it feel authentic.

The romance is spicy but balanced. There is emotional baggage, professional boundaries, and age-gap dynamics—all handled with just enough realism to keep things believable.

No build up

This was fine, but there was no buildup. It was just bing, bang, boom, happy families. No one really had to work for anything, and several of the things that happened seemed pointless.

A romance between co-workers, is it a good idea though? Emma and Marcus are both surgeons at the same hospital. He's a single dad and she's married to her career. Can they make this work? Will his kids accept her? The story would not be interesting if it was smooth sailing for this pair and I was rooting for them the whole time.

Dr. Emma Chen is a trauma surgeons in NYC. After a messy fallout with a fellow doctor, she's sworn off workplace relationships for good. But when Dr. Marcus Walker, a talented and charming new surgeon who is also a widowed father to two teens joins the hospital staff, Emma finds it harder than ever to keep her boundaries intact. As the lines between professional and personal begin to blur, Emma and Marcus have to decide whether their relationship is worth fighting for.

I’ll start off by saying that I typically don’t read a lot of medical romances so going into this, I was very much taking the plunge. And boy it was worth it. This was more of a medical workplace book, very plot heavy with the romance being a little bit more secondary but it was a good read because it was something different for me. It felt like the right mix of a workplace drama, with emotions and politics running heavy, and the romance felt very natural. It was a slow building relationship, based on mutual respect and chemistry and Emma and Marcus really felt like the right fit for each other.

I also loved seeing Emma slowly fit in with Marcus’s kids. The conversations around balancing Emma’s new role in their lives while respecting the memory of the kids’s mom felt organic and I loved Emma because she was so respectful. They were still dealing with the emotions of losing their mother and the way Emma really handled everything so well, the topics of healing and moving on, really well done.

Overall, it was a nice light read if you want to get a break from heavier genres and I’m really interested in future books in the Scandalously Yours series.

Entertaining age-gap hospital romance. Emma is a hard-working paediatric trauma surgeon and encounters the new doctor, Marcus, at the end of a busy shift. The chemistry between these two is evident from the start, but their relationship seems a non-starter as she has little to no life outside of her job, whilst he is an older widower with his hands full with two grieving teenage children. I liked the way they both stifle any attraction until one particularly stressful night when feelings erupt into a steamy encounter in the on-call room. I really liked the main characters in the story and, as a reader, found myself rooting for their relationship, despite resistance from Marcus’ daughter and toxic professional sabotage from Emma’s horrible ex. Things are further complicated by an unexpected outcome from their physical encounters before they can achieve their HEA. An enjoyable medical romance.

Can they have a future when they both have pasts that haunt them

Sinful in Scrubs is the first book in the Scandalously Yours series. This is an age-gap mixed with medical romance story about two doctors working in the same ER. Dr. Emma Chen is a trauma surgeon who has sworn off all workplace and doctor romances. Dr. Marcus Walker is a well respected surgeon who is a widower with two teenage kids. He has a background in trauma surgery in the military before he joined the department at the hospital Emma works at. There is an attraction between the two from the start but they also butt heads more than a few times. That changes one night after a bad shift which finds them consoling each other in the on-call room. But both have things in their past that may just keep them from having a future...until the future is upon them and they have to make some decisions on whether to fight for a HEA together.

Confusion

I ultimately gave this book 4 stars because, overall, it was decent. If you get down into the details, though, that's where the confusion comes in. The beginning of the book had me hooked and not wanting to put it down, but then things changed. For one, the age of Marcus's kids was never listed, but his son was a "teenager" but seemed younger at times. Also, the timeline was really confusing because I had no clue how long had passed throughout the book. If you had looked at Enma at the beginning of the book, she seemed like this well put together doctor, but then all of a sudden, she started making spur of the moment decisions that didn't seem to be her MO.
Now, don't get me wrong, I did enjoy reading this, and I wish I could overlook some of these things, but that is not how my brain works.

This was a fast read, age gap, hospital romance. Emma is a hardworking pediatric trauma surgeon and when she encounters the new doctor Marcus, there is so much chemistry between them. After a difficult shift, they find comfort in each other. But the idea of a relationship is a nonstarter because she works so much. Marcus is a little older and has two teenagers at home, one of which is excited when he meets Emma and the other reacts in typical teenage fashion and is moody about it.

I liked Emma and Marcus, she is strong and independent, and he has a difficult past but is all for trying to start a new relationship with Emma. Things are complicated by an unexpected two pink lines. They eventually get their HEA with a few twists and turns it was all worth it.

This is the 1st story in the Scandalously Yours Series about Dr Emma a pediatric surgeon and how she deals with the “boys club” and a controlling ex. When a new old surgeon, Marcus joins the team they have a misunderstanding until after one trauma night they end together in the on call room. With suggestions from Marcus to improve their intact process leads to Emma being caught off guard to get it approved without proper notice. Marcus has 2 child that are still dealing with the loss of their mom and moving to NY. Things get rough and Emma decides to take matters into her own hands, making mistakes with the opportunity to correct. Emma is a trauma surgeon and sparks fly when the newest surgeon arrives, a silver fox named Marcus. Emma is on the receiving end of her vindictive ex. Marcus is still getting over the loss of his first wife. Tensions are high on more than one level. Her ex causes so much trouble that she chooses a position in L.A. to start over, only the job turns out to be not what they promised and she finds herself pregnant and back in Manhattan. I found this story very endearing as Marcus navigated the new relationship with Emma as his children were mixed in their acceptance of someone new. Great story and lovely ending with a healthy dose of karma for one particular individual.

Emma had sworn never to fall for another doctor after her disastrous relationship with egotistical Kevin. Easier said than done when the new trauma surgeon is as hot as he is.

Marcus is still grieving over the death of his wife and struggling to be a father to his two teenagers, Lily and Jason. That doesn't mean that he can't appreciate the beautiful and talented surgeon working beside him.

I loved the interactions between the two main characters and the issues they had, making them seem very real. Add in the return of her psycho ex out to cause trouble and teenagers playing up and this is an outstanding steamy romance.

Marcus is a widower with two teenagers who don't like that they had to move for his job as a trauma surgeon.
His life at the hospital was hectic, every day most of the time saving lives but for Dr Emma Chen when a child died Marcus was there to comfort her and let her cry.
From then on they each found somebody they could talk about anything and everything and one time there is a broken bed.
An ex boyfriend causing problems for Emma and for Marcus family life gets in the way, mostly from Lilly his daughter.
A beautifully written story with love and everyday life at the hospital and at home.
A story not to be missed

What a wonderful story we are taken along in the life of Emma who is a trauma surgeon and that of Marcus he is the new addition and a surgeon too. Despite the fact that the chemistry ensures that the sparks fly back and forth both still have to deal with and with the processing of their old relationships. Marcus has still not processed the loss of his wife and Emma who has suffered from a vengeful ex. Both have to deal with expectations that turn out differently and they try to find a job in all the chaos. Beautiful storyline and enough to keep the attention with the necessary steam.

This was a really good story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Ava Gray always seems to write a realistic and down to earth story that is enjoyable to read, and once again she didn’t disappoint with this story. Marcus is a widowed Doctor with two teenage children and Emma is a surgeon that specialises in children and are both Doctors working in the ER together. They are both attracted to each other, but there seems to be opposition on both sides. A lot has to happen before there is a HEA.

This medical romance is spicy and drew me into the characters. Marcus is a trauma doctor with two teenage kids who is trying to acclimate to his new life outside of the military and as a widower. His first connection with Emma was when she was changing and it started their path. Both have issues they are trying to handle but sparks ignite between them. Will their connection lead them along the road to happiness.

This is a book about a widowed father of 2 and the beautiful doctor he was developing feelings for. But the idea of her father being with any one other than her mother has his teenage daughter acting out while his younger son falling completely for the Dr that catches his throws and plays video games with him.
Add in her vindictive ex who tries to tear her job apart as well as any other part of her life. And then there is the trauma ER that they both work in.

Missed opportunity!

Emma, a pediatric trauma surgeon that recently left a bad relationship. Marcus, an Army veteran and trauma surgeon lost his wife to breast cancer. Emma and Marcus "fall for each other" while working a shift at a New York hospital.

The missed opportunity is all the details and build up between the main characters. The relationship doesn't become clear until the very end. The plot does not flow. It jumps from one place or situation to the next without any transition.

As for the smut...there were 3 encounters. All were pretty quick.

I did not like this 🫠 Interactions between MCs felt forced and i didn’t feel any chemistry between them

they also slept together once and then mutually decided to act like it never happened but would kiss goodbye when they saw each other ? there were also weird time jumps. and the whole “her moving to LA” thing was weird too… she doesn’t tell him and it takes a week for him to even notice she’s gone?

-widowed single dad (two teenage kids)
-medical romance
-forbidden workplace
-age gap, 13 years (this is never discussed in this book but it’s in the synopsis)
-ex military MMC

This was my first romance book in a medical setting and I really enjoyed to see Emma and Marcus slowly loosing the battle they fight with their mutual attraction.
Trow in a sabotaging ex (hers), a daughter, who is absolutely against their union, working together and a surprising discovery, you get and captivating and exciting read.

This is a great love story. It is a second chance for everyone to become a family. Emma finally gets the recognition she deserves at work and a man that loves, respects and supports her. Marcus gets the chance to be a present husband and father to his family. They learn to balance their lives together. It is a sweet love story with a few hiccups they have to face. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Wow, this was a great read! We get to meet Emma. Who and what is she? I liked Rosa and Sarah. Lily and Jason were a bundle of thoughts and emotions. Lily, being that typical teenage girl, struggles with the family moving to the big city after the death of her mother. Later in the book, Jason is described perfectly as a happy Labrador puppy. That fits him to a T. Who are Marcus, James, and Kevin? What role does each have in the story? Read and find out.

All About the Triage

Marcus is the new doctor where Emma works and their connection was immediate. However, various obstacles try to prevent them from being together. It was an emotional read at times and the plot had some medical situations that were interesting to highlight the professionalism and knowledge of these characters. I really enjoyed this story.

Sinful in Scrubs is definitely a hot romance book I can see myself re-reading over and over again. I HIGHLY recommend this book by Ava. Marcus and Emma are two toe curling, steamy characters that have some drama that makes this romance book AAAMAZING. Look out because this book is coming in HOT and won't let you stop reading until you find out how it ends.

This story resonated with me as a medical professional. Emma has to battle the "good old boys" and a vindictive ex in the medical setting. She meets Marcus who is a new physician in the department. He has a military trauma background. They initially knock heads but finally come to an understanding.
After a particularly bad night, she breaks down, Marcus attempts to counsel her, but they end up using the on-call room for a tryst.
Emma is sabotaged by her ex, and rather than continue to battle with administration she resigns and accepts a position in LA.
She discovers she is expecting, while in LA. She returns to New York to consider working at her previous hospital.
There is a HEA ending with a surprise bonus which I won't disclose.
This story was well written with complex plot, believable characters and plenty of emotional trauma as well as romance.
