Στις πέντε "ηρωικές και τραγικές" νουβέλες που περιλαμβάνονται σ αυτό το βιβλίο, ο θεικός μαρκήσιος εξακολουθεί να κυνηγά τις εμμονές του, στήνοντας ξανά και ξανά από τη Σουηδία των θρησκευτικών πολέμων ως την Τοσκάνη της Αναγέννησης και τη Γαλλία του ΙΗ αιώνα, ένα παιχνίδι γάτας και ποντικού ανάμεσα στο κακό και την αθωότητα. Φαξελάνζ, Φλορβίλ, Λορέντσα Πάτσι, Ερνεστίν, Ευγενία ντε Φρανβάλ. Πλάσματα αγγελικά, αθώα, ευάλωτα, γίνονται πότε ανίσχυρα θύματα και πότε εκούσια ή ακούσια υποχείρια του κακού. Ενός κακού που άλλοτε φανερώνεται με τη μορφή μιας ανεξήγητα σκληρής, διαβολικής μοίρας και άλλοτε εκφράζεται μέσα από εξίσου σκληρούς και διαβολικούς ανθρώπους. Η Φαξελάνζ το ανακαλύπτει μεφρίκη πίσω από τη μάσκα του κοσμικού βαρόνου ντε Φρανλό, κατά τη διάρκεια του "γαμήλιου ταξιδιού" τους. Η νεαρή Λορέντσα στο πρόσωπο του ίδιου του πεθερού της, του ισχυρού και διεφθαρμένου Καρόλου Στρότσι. Η Ευγενία ντε Φρανβάλ το αγκαλιάζει στο πρόσωπο του αιμομίκτη πατέρα της. Μέσα από ξαφνιάσματα, παγίδες, εφιάλτες, ρίγη και προαισθήματα, πίσω από το πέπλο μιας γλώσσας κλασσικής, γεμάτης αποσιωπήσεις και υπονοούμενα, ένας Σάντ διαφορετικός και ωστόσο αμετανόητα ο ίδιος κλείνει το μάτι στο συνένοχο αναγνώστη.

A preoccupation with sexual violence characterizes novels, plays, and short stories that Donatien Alphonse François, comte de Sade but known as marquis de Sade, of France wrote. After this writer derives the word sadism, the deriving of sexual gratification from fantasies or acts that involve causing other persons to suffer physical or mental pain.

This aristocrat, revolutionary politician, and philosopher exhibited famous libertine lifestyle.

His works include dialogues and political tracts; in his lifetime, he published some works under his own name and denied authorship of apparently anonymous other works. His best erotic works combined philosophical discourse with pornography and depicted fantasies with an emphasis on criminality and blasphemy against the Catholic Church. Morality, religion or law restrained not his "extreme freedom." Various prisons and an insane asylum incarcerated the aristocrat for 32 years of his life: ten years in the Bastile, another year elsewhere in Paris, a month in Conciergerie, two years in a fortress, a year in Madelonnettes, three years in Bicêtre, a year in Sainte-Pélagie, and 13 years in the Charenton asylum. During the French revolution, people elected this criminal as delegate to the National Convention. He wrote many of his works in prison.

What struck me in this reading is Marquis de Sade's writing's shockingly modern and still readable nature. He wields his pen with finesse and depth, a fact that is beyond dispute. His work, boldly defying the customs of its era and ahead of its time, presents a disturbing and unhealthy narrative that can be seen as an uncompromising version of Dangerous Liaisons.
The author's striking reversal of values is evident in his work, undermining the decorum and religious piety of his time (the 17th century).
It is unthinkable to condone the acts that are defended there as "good" (incest); that goes without saying. However, the characters are worth the detour in their total absence of morality and empathy (notably Franval, who causes all possible harm to his wife to rid himself of her, much like a common obstacle to his love).
I don't think I came away morally from this reading, and the characters' demeaning game (and the author's condemnation, sometimes more cruel than the rest of the story) aroused disgust and hilarity in me. Surprisingly, the author's subtle prose seems modest today compared to what was done subsequently.

It’s officially, I am a great fan of Marquis de Sade and I want to read everything he has ever written.

At first I was quite surprised that he wasn’t as controvertional as I was expecting, but as soon as I got more in the book, there we go… consented incest between father and daughter; revengeful women that hate their daughters because they want to fuck their lovers; puritan women that once had children before marriage (…) and, the cherry on top of the cake was when at the end of Crimes of Love we have Malicious tales and that’s when Marquis de Sade starts to show his colors. Criticizing the church and insinuating that the priests fuck the little girls on their convents, women that love to be double penetrated, etc etc etc.

Dear lord ahahahah (how appropriate to say this here…) it was insane, lecherous, immoral, libertine!!! Gotta love that. I imagine how the nobles at that time shove this down their throats. Even though Sade tried to take out the responsibility for writing this in the prelude, he didn’t succeed and got put in a mental institution for life because of this. He was a mind ahead of his time; even the way he writes it’s kind of contemporary and I cannot wait until I read Justine or 120 days of Sodom. I’m in love.

Aşkın Suçları'nı okurken sık sık kitap kapağına bakma ihtiyacı hissettim; çünkü alışkın olduğum Marquis de Sade stilinden oldukça farklı bir stilde yazılmış üç öyküyü barındırıyor kitap. Hatta acaba çeviri ya da yayınevi (Cemal Süreya ve Notos olsa bile) kurbanı oldu da bazı yerler atlandı mı diye bile düşündüm; fakat birkaç İngilizce yoruma bakmam öyle olmadığını anlamama yetti.

Her neyse...

Aşkın Suçları, üç öyküden oluşuyor. Ayrıca bu öykülerin sonunda Marquis'nin "Roman Üstüne Düşünceler"başlıklı bir yazısına yer verilmiş. Bu yazı kendisini eleştiren bazı kimselere cevap niteliğinde. Ayrıca en sonda Iwan Bloch'un de Sade'ın felsefesine ilişkin bir yazısı da mevcut.

Öykülerin çevirisi Cemal Süreya'ya ait. Oldukça başarılı, keyif veren bir okuma sunan bir çeviri olmuş.

Bundan önce Justine ve Yatak Odasında Felsefe'yi okumuştum. İkisi de cinsellik dozu, işkence dozu, "kötülük" dozu bir hayli fazla kitaplardı. Buradaki öyküler ise oldukça masum (tabii ne kadar masum denebilirse), acıklı pembe dizi tadında geldi bana. Durum güncellememde de belirtmiştim, ilk öykü ile son öykü Taaşuk-ı Talât ve Fitnat'ın daha fazla tesadüf ve aile bağı ile örülü, farkına varılmayan ensest ilişki sosuna bulanmış versiyonuydu diyebilirim. Ayrıca de Sade, bu kitabında felsefi düşüncelerine de diğer eserlerine oranla daha az yer vermiş. Diğer kitaplarında yaptığı gibi kurgunun ortasında hikâyeye dahil olup çeşitli konularda fikirlerini belirtmemiş bu sefer. Ayrıca kötülük, ateizm, şiddet dolu cinsellik güzellemelerine alışkın olan şahsımın da bu kitabını fazlasıyla "romantik" bulduğunu söylemem lazım. Bildiğim kadarıyla öyküleri Charenton Akıl Hastanesinde yazmış. Bahsettiğim durumda hastane yönetiminin gözünün Sade üzerinde olmasının da mı etkisi oldu bilemiyorum.

Dediğim gibi Marquis'nin çok daha sert üslubuna alışkın olduğum için kitap beni şaşırttı. Ayrıca yurt dışındaki basımlarının bir kısmında daha fazla öykü var anladığım kadarıyla. Oğlak Yayınları da "İkinize de Yer Var" ismiyle öykülerinin bir kısmını yayımlamış. Onlar da mı bu üslupla yazılmış merak ettim, en kısa zamanda onu da okuyacağım.

I have read these stories, written by de Sade while incarcerated in Charenton, over and over again. They are the only of his works that I truly treasure. He wrote them late in a debauched life and they are infused with a melancholy moralism (think Voltaire in a terrible mood), where few people have pure motives (and virtually everyone meets a bad end), effusive, romantic prose can turn surreal and footnotes can meditate on dreams in a way that presages and far outstrips the insights of Freud. I find this collection of stories unlike anything else de Sade wrote: politically astute (especially with regard to class and gender politics), sometimes alarmingly psychologically insightful and worth revisiting again and again. They have a gripping narrative pull that seems far more related to crime-fiction than the navel-gazing pornographic novels of the early de Sade.

Audiobook "Lorenza and Antonio"; virtue fights depravity, and it's of course depravity for its own sake, all told in high language. *siiiiiiigh*

Una obra maestra por donde se mire. Es difícil hacer una buena reseña de un libro así.

Empezaré por el autor. "Marqués de Sade" es un título nobiliario que ostentaba Donatien Alphonse François, nacido en 1740 y muerto en 1814. Como miembro de la nobleza durante el Antiguo Régimen, tuvo una vida privilegiada materialmente, con una educación excelente en las corrientes de pensamiento de la época. Es más conocido por sus novelas eróticas/pornográficas, las cuales le valieron un nivel de censura tan fuerte que pasó gran parte de su vida encarcelado, primero en La Bastilla y luego en un sanatorio mental hasta el fin de sus días.

La fama que tiene Sade por estas circunstancias ha marcado nuestra forma de entenderlo a nivel literario y personal. Muchos creen incluso que en la vida real practicaba lo que describía en sus libros (los crímenes y las salvajadas me refiero). Un dato notable a resaltar es que si bien fue encarcelado, nunca se le hizo formalmente un proceso penal que terminara con una condena por algún delito comprobado.

Según los biógrafos y estudiosos de Sade, el encarcelamiento provino de una orden real dada por el monarca francés, que actuó a su vez instigado por la familia de Sade, quienes se veían constantemente avergonzados por su conducta libertina (esta sí comprobada) y estaban interesados en quedarse con su fortuna (muchas libras de renta al año y propiedades cuantiosas, incluyendo un par de castillos). Puede que haya sido simplemente víctima de unas circunstancias que lo convirtieron en chivo expiatorio de la censura y la ambición.

Ahora, en cuanto al libro. Da mucho que pensar. Primera aclaración: no es un libro erótico/pornográfico. Si bien el sexo y las perversiones sexuales están latentes en algunos puntos, se encuentran muy disimulados. Este primer rasgo es llamativo, dada la trayectoria literaria del autor. ¿Por qué crear un libro más depurado e higienizado? Se sugiere como hipótesis que este libro fue el primero que Sade firmó con su nombre real (los anteriores habían sido anónimos) y su publicación correspondió al primer año de su liberación tras la caída del Antiguo Régimen (1800).

Puede que haya debido cuidar su reputación para no volver a ser víctima de la censura. Pues si bien sus libros anteriores habían sido anónimos, nadie dudaba de que eran suyos, pues su carácter libertino y obsceno sí era bien conocido; lo que no es igual a afirmar que haya sido criminal como sus personajes (para los cuales el asesinato, el secuestro, la violación, el incesto son prácticas cotidianas). Por tanto, de la lectura de Sade nace una reflexión importante y es que se debe saber diferenciar, con prudencia, la obra del autor, los personajes del creador.

Los crímenes del amor se compone de 11 historias trágicas, escritas bajo el género de novela corta, donde Sade muestra toda la maestría literaria de que es capaz. Se revela como un conocedor de la historia, la filosofía, el arte, la narración, la poesía... En fin, como uno de esos personajes ilustrados tan aclamados en su época. A través de las páginas de este libro se pueden encontrar ejemplos claros y repetitivos de las peores bajezas de la naturaleza humana. El nombre del libro está bien pensado y mejor escogido, pues cada historia muestra eso: un crimen engendrado, no por amor como tal, sino por una pasión desviada que pasa por amor y que lleva a los mayores extravíos.

En cuanto al estilo y la trama, hay historias mejor compuestas que otras. Resalto mis favoritas: La doble prueba, Miss Henriette Stralson, Florville & Courval y Eugenie de Franval.

No daré detalles sobre cada historia porque no es mi estilo arruinar la emoción del descubrimiento. Pero sí invito enérgicamente a todos a leer esta obra maestra, donde encontrarán narraciones trágicas que pueden fácilmente ser comparadas con los maestros del género, desde la Antigüedad hasta los tiempos modernos, desde Sófocles hasta Shakespeare, porque en verdad la disposición de muchas escenas está tan bien lograda y transmite tanta emoción que al leer se siente uno como presenciando una obra de teatro... Una muy cruda y estremecedora, de la que uno no sale igual que como entró...

Sadizmin kurucusu Marquis De Sade’ın üç öyküden oluşan ve dilimize çevrilen ilk eseri olan bu kitabı ensest temalı iki öyküden dolayı psikolojimi derinden sarstı. Anladığım kadarıyla diğer Sade öykülerine nazaran daha masum öykülermiş. Yazarın otuz yıl hapishanede, on yıl akıl hastanesinde yaşaması ve hayatının akıl hastanesinde son bulması bir o kadar enteresan. Orijinali on bir öyküden oluşan bu kitabın, Nietzsche, Puşkin, Dostoyevski, Kafka gibi büyük yazarların başucu kitabı olması ilgi uyandırıcı…

Ο συμβολισμός είναι ένας ιδιαίτερος τρόπος προσδιορισμού ενός μυθιστορήματος, ή μιας ιστορίας γενικά. Δεν προϋποθέτει το ρεύμα αλλά συνήθως συναντάται στο ρεαλισμό, ενίοτε και στον ισοπεδωτισμό.

Ένας απ' τους αγαπημένους μου συγγραφείς, αν όχι ο πιο αγαπημένος είναι ο Στεντάλ του οποίου οι συμβολισμοί αντιστοιχούν στις πιο βιρτουόζικες τρίλιες μέσα σε μια γραφή απέριττη. Υπάρχουν στο κείμενο αλλά ακόμη κι αν αγνοηθούν βγαίνει νόημα που συντηρεί μια ιστορία, ίσως βέβαια τελείως διαφορετική απ' εκείνη που είχε κατά νου ο συγγραφέας. Απ' τους μεγαλύτερους ρεαλιστές συγγραφείς, βάθος νοημάτων και παραγνωρισμένος.

Ο Ντε Σαντ γράφει εξ' ίσου λιτά, ωστόσο οι συμβολισμοί του θα μπορούσαν ίσως ν' αντιστοιχούν σε θεϊκά παιγμένους αρπισμούς. Αν αγνοηθούν το κείμενο δε διαβάζεται εκτός μόνο απ' αυτούς που θέλουν σε αυτό να δουν μια διαστροφή, να κ@λώσουν με τις πιο αρρωστημένες φαντασιώσεις. Αυτό όμως δε σημαίνει πως ανταποκρίνεται σε αυτό που είχε κατά νου ο συγγραφέας. Εφ' όσον αναγνωριστούν οι συμβολισμοί, οι νουβέλες που διάβασα φτάνουν στον ακραίο ισοπεδωτισμό.

Σε ορισμένες περιπτώσεις αυτά που έχει κατά νου ο συγγραφέας αφορούν κυρίως όσα συνήθιζαν να γίνονται στην εποχή του. Σε άλλες όμως θα μπορούσαν να είναι χτύπημα σε κάθε εποχή.

Φράσεις... σημείωνα φράσεις σε όλο το βιβλίο απ' τις οποίες δεν πρόκειτ��ι να γράψω καμία. Έχω καταλήξει πως δε θέλω πια να το κάνω, έχω πειστεί πως κάθε φράση που αποκόβεται απ' το κείμενο που είχε κατά νου ο συγγραφέας, ναι μεν προσδιορίζει ένα κάποιο απόσταγμα σκέψης, αλλά ξεριζώνει, κλέβει, διαστρεβλώνει με την ίδια δυναμική. Και είναι λάθος. Και οδηγεί λάθος αναγνώστες σε λάθος συγγραφείς, ή ηλιθίους να βάζουν μονίμως στο facebook αποφθέγματα του Κοέλο και να δημιουργούνται νέα χαρούμενα εφηβίδια κάθε τόσο που πιστεύουν στους ονειρότοπους του Αλχημιστή.

Όπως πάντα είμαι απόλυτα ικανοποιημένος απ' την επιμέλεια των εκδόσεων Printa - Ροές.

Προσωπικά θεωρώ πως το βιβλίο αξίζει να αγοραστεί ακόμη και μόνο για την Ευγενία Ντε Φρανβάλ. Σου δίνει πάρα πάρα πάρα πολλά αυτή τη νουβέλα. Πρωτίστως στο νήμα που ξετυλίγεται, βλέπουμε μια πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα σπουδή σε αντιδιάστολη των νατουραλιστών. Επιπλέον ως ενός σημείου ο πατέρας δε μπορεί να θεωρηθεί οτιδήποτε λιγότερο από έναν ήρωα, το οποίο βέβαια αφορά το φιλτράρισμα και την αιτιολόγηση των γνώσεων που θα περάσουν στο παιδί του. Αν επιτυγχάνει αυτό που είχε κατά νου; Σε ένα διαρκές παιχνίδισμα όπου οι ένοχοι αποκτούν αθωότητα και οι αθώοι δολιότητα νομίζω πως η απάντηση δεν είναι τόσο απλή.

Ωστόσο υπάρχει μια ερώτηση: σε μια εποχή που έλεγε ότι είναι ok οι κόρες να παντρεύονται απ' τα 15, 30άρηδες και είναι επίσης ok αν είναι ακόμη και πρώτοι ξάδερφοι, για να μεταδοθεί το σωστό μήνυμα, γιατί όχι απ' τα 14, γιατί ένα ξάδερφο κι όχι τον πατέρα; Αηδιάσατε; Αν ναι, ή αν νιώσατε πως κάτι βγαίνει στο φως που δε σας αρέσει, τότε είστε κοντά στην ουσία.

Ποιά είναι άραγε η σωστή γνώση; Νομίζετε πως τυχαία αναφέρω παραπάνω τον Αλχημιστή γιατί έχω απωθημένο το συγγραφέα; Όχι ιδιαίτερα. Μου είναι αδιάφορος. Αλλά ποιός όρισε κάποιους βιβιοπώλες, παιδαγωγούς για να πουλούν αυτό ειδικά το βιβλίο ως καλή εφηβική λογοτεχνία; Ποιός όρισε τους παπάδες να επιδρούν στα θρησκευτικά του δημοτικού; Σε ιστοριούλες με μια βάση ηθικής κατασκευασμένη σε ελεγχόμενο περιβάλλον, όπου το ''κάνω το σωστό'' γίνεται επιβολή και πάπλωμα καμουφλάζ για την υποκρισία, ένας οδηγός του τι πρέπει να κάνεις για να έχεις πάντοτε την κοινωνία να μη σε κοιτάει δεύτερη φορά, αλλά να θεωρούνται τα έργα σου, τουλάχιστον αυτά που βγαίνουν στο φως, σωστά. Όχι δεν είναι έτσι.

Γιατί να μην κάνουμε σεξ στα 10; Ή στα 8; Αφήνοντας στην άκρη την ενήβωση, ας υποθέσουμε πως υπήρχε απ' τη γέννηση, τι μας εμποδίζει; Ότι ο άνθρωπος δεν είναι έτοιμος! Κάποιες γνώσεις πρέπει να έρχονται στην κατάλληλη ηλικία και ελευθέρα σε κάθε παιδί, σε αγόρι, σε κορίτσι. Τα παιδιά πρέπει να είναι αγρίμια, είναι τα μόνα που δικαιολογούνται να είναι αγριμάκια γιατί η διόρθωση είναι μέρος της εμπειρίας και μόνο μέσα στην εμπειρία μπορεί να βουτηχτεί η γνώση και να αποκτήσει ενιαίο σώμα.

Ο συγγραφέας λέει κι άλλα, υπάρχει σε κάποιο σημείο μια πανέμορφη φράση που αντιστοιχεί την αντικειμενική αλήθεια στο υποκειμενικό συμφέρον. Υπάρχουν πολλές φράσεις, σε ένα περιβάλλον λιτό που δε σου κρύβει το τι θα έβλεπες αν ήσουν εκεί, στο δείχνει, σε βάζει στο παιχνίδι αλλά ωστόσο δεν υπερβάλει, δεν προκαλεί μια κάποια υπερεκτίμηση αυτού του περιβάλλοντος, σημασία έχει ο άνθρωπος, η ηθική, η διαστροφική ηθική του άρπαγα, γνωστή ήδη απ' τον εξαιρετικό Βολταίρο.

Διαβάζω Βολταίρο και Σαντ και Στεντάλ και Μπαλζάκ και δε μπορώ να πάψω να αναρωτιέμαι πως μα ΠΩΣ μπόρεσε μια εποχή και μια χώρα να κάνει ένα τέτοιο πισωγύρισμα σαν το νατουραλισμό ή το μαγικό ρεαλισμό μετά απ' αυτά τα θηρία; Και πως μπόρεσαν για 150 και πάνω χρόνια ακόμα οι άντρες να παντρεύονται με 15χρονα κορίτσια, να τους στερούν το δικαίωμα στη γνώση, την επιλογή, την ευαισθησία, τα πάντα; ( και στη χώρα σου Ελληνάκο, μη χαίρεσαι... μέχρι τη δεκαετία του 70 ήταν ok να παντρεύονται 14χρονες με τη γονική σύμπραξη )

Είναι υπέροχο κι αυτό που μου 'ρθε κατά νου τώρα, ερώτηση του ίδιου του συγγραφέα: τι είναι προτιμότερο να τιμωρηθεί το ΕΝΑ έγκλημα ή να διορθωθεί το σύνολο στη φύση του εγκλήματος; Όταν κάτι το αποκαλύπτεις -μα κι η τιμωρία αποκάλυψη δεν είναι θα αναρωτηθούν κάποιοι; είναι όμως; Γνωστοποιείται ένα γεγονός, πέφτει η ποινή, ακούγονται τα γνωστά α είναι τρέλος, α είναι μαλ@κας, α έτσι του μάθανε και μετά από λίγο ξεχνιούνται όλα, μένει ως κάτι παραβατικό, μια εξαίρεση. Μα για φαντάσου αν αναλυόταν όταν έπρεπε η ουσία, αυτό το γιατί είναι έτσι αυτός ο άνθρωπος, πόσα λάθη θα είχαν αποφευχθεί.

Και ποιά πρέπει να είναι η τιμωρία ενός εγκληματία; Η απομόνωση, η φυλακή, το ικρίωμα, η συγχώνευση με άλλους παραβάτες και τρελούς; Έχει αποτέλεσμα κάτι τέτοιο; Τί ακριβώς δημιουργούμε;

Τα χειρότερα τεχνάσματα του νου περνούν απ' αυτές τις νουβέλες, ένας οδηγός των τρικ που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιήσει καθένας που έχει μια κάποια παραπάνω εξουσία, μια υπερβολική έξη στη διαφθορά.

Μα και αλήθεια, στην ιστορία της ανηψιας που καταλήγει σε κάτι απρόσμενο ( ;;;;;;;;; είναι; ) πόσοι και πόσοι δεν κατέληξαν να μη μάθουν ποτέ με ποιούς κατέληξαν να είναι μαζί ( εμ ολοκληρωτικά μαζί ), πόσοι εκφυλισμοί δημιουργήθηκαν ακριβώς επειδή ήταν ok οι συγγενικοί γάμοι, αλλά τι να πεις εμείς φταίμε αφού στην αρχή μόνο ένα ζευγάρι υπήρξε, ο Αδάμ κι η Εύα, ε μετά λίγο τα ξαδέρδια, λίγο τα ανήψια, γιατί όχι; Δεν πειράζει ας το συνεχίσουμε για μερικές χιλιαδούλες χρόνια. Literatura sobre el amor es algo que no aguanto, resulta empalagoso y exagerado. Pero los relatos de Sade no me da esa sensación y eso que su base es el amor. Trata el tema de manera de manera muy original, yo le llamaría: Terror de amor.
Todos sus personajes se enamoran, pero esta ceguera hace que todo acabe desastrosamente. La famosa frase: lucha por lo que amas y lo acabaras consiguiendo. Pues bien, aquí luchan y acaban consiguiendo el desastre, el horros, la fatalidad. Muestra muy bien el egocentrismo y egoísmo a tales punto de sacrificar a quien te ama y tu a él no, para beneficiarse de esa ceguera.

Donatien Alphonse-François cunoscut ca și Marchizul de Sade, i-au fost atribuite pe nedrept unele etichete ale acelor vremuri din sec. XVIII / sec. XIX. De un talent real și extrem de libertin, Sade și-a permis să descrie moravurile acelor vremuri. El este un observator, nicidecum cineva care erijează în judecător.

Decameronul Franțuzesc (cu aluzie la Decameronul lui Boccaccio) cuprinde o serie de 14 povestiri scurte, care mai de care mai condimentate sexual, despre ceva ce azi poate părea banal. Un ménage à trois, o soție de preot care-și înșela bărbatul, relații homosexuale, pierderea virginității ș.a.m.d. Cert este că felul în care sunt scrise aceste povestiri, sunt departe de a fi vulgare, Sade nu este vulgar în Decameronul Franțuzesc.

Cartea conține următoarele povestiri:

3. Institutorul filosof
4. Păcălește-mă de fiecare dată astfel!

Cartea se termină cu o „addenda” scrisă în Decembrie 1867 de către L.J.Ramon (intern la casa din Charenton, unde a murit Sade). Însemnări foarte interesante ale acestui medic rezident, demene de luat în considerare.

Το Εγκλήματα του έρωτα περιλαμβάνουν 5 νουβέλες στις οποιες ο Ντε Σαντ παίζει το κλασσικό παιχνίδι του Θύτη και του Θύματος, περιγράφοντας ξανά και ξανά τα βάσανα και τις παγίδες που πέφτουν μέσα οι ενάρετοι λόγω του οτι είναι ενάρετοι.
Η διαφορά του με άλλα βιβλία που έχω διαβάσει του Ντε Σαντ είναι μεγάλη, αφού αφήνει στην άκρη και τις γραφικότητες που χαρακτηρίζουν την Ζυστίν και τη Φιλοσοφία στο Μπουντουάρ και γίνεται πιο σκληρός ως προς το τέλος και των Θυμάτων αλλά και των Θυτών, αντι να εξυψώνει τους τελευταίους και να ρίχνει στα τάρταρα τους πρώτους όπως είθισται.
Για μια στιγμή νόμιζα οτι δε διαβάζω Ντε Σαντ δηλαδή.

Ενα άλλο πράγμα που διαφέρει σε αυτό το βιβλίο είναι οτι περιέχει σχεδόν καθόλου τις αμφιλεγόμενες ιδέες του ως προς τα πάντα, κάτι το οποίο με ξένισε, αλλά σου άφηνε περισσότερο ελευθερία να δεις μόνος σου τα βάσανα που φέρνει η αρετή και να κρίνεις αφήνοντας στην άκρη το "δασκαλίστικο" ύφος.
Όντας γραφική και γω δεν μπορώ να πω οτι ενθουσιάστηκα με την αλλαγή στον τρόπο που παρουσιάζει τα πράγματα, αλλά είναι καθαρά υποκειμενικό.

I decided to watch movies from a list I found on the internet of the most disturbing films ever made. The most recent of which was called "Salo, 120 days of Sodom". 120 Days of Sodom was originally written by the Marquis de Sade. I find that I'm running into a lot of people who are not actually familiar with the Marquis de Sade, which includes my mother (which, when you think of it, is the one person who should not know about the Marquis de Sade, right?). Anyway, the Marquis de Sade was a French author who lived around the time of the French Revolution, 1740 -1814 to be exact. He was a low aristocrat with over-confident sense of self. He was best known for his sadistic actions and writings, so much so that the word "sadism" comes from his name. Shockingly, I've run into people who are blissfully unaware of the meaning of the word "sadism". Nowadays, people use it to simply mean finding enjoyment in causing harm to others, but the actual definition is "sexual pleasure obtained by inflicting harm (physical or psychological) on others", a sexual fetishism if you will.

Now "Salo, 120 of Sodom" was a 1975 updated version of the work by the Marquis de Sade. Instead of French aristocrats, the director of this film set it in fascist Italy. Four politically high level men round up 9 young men and 9 young women and take them to their countryside mansion to be their sex slaves. The rules of the house are that the slaves must be present in a certain room to listen to stories of sexual indiscretions and then be forced to do whatever the four men want. Another rule is that vaginal sex is forbidden, because they are not interested in the idea of sex for procreation, but want to be sure to enjoy sex for only the pleasure it provides. Prayer, or calling out to God, is also rewarded with death. Lewd stories are told and extremely young men and women get sodomized. The men and women are forced at one point to behave like dogs on leashes and beg for scraps of food.

The stories then become of a scatological nature. The men and women are required to hold their bowel movements until dinner at which time all of the aristocrats and the forced slaves eat their feces. One slave objects to the taste and the storyteller is shocked that she would behave so in face of such a delicacy. As would be expected from the Marquis de Sade, many young men and women end up being brutalized at the end. They have eyes dug out of their heads or are burned by hot irons and eventually killed while being sodomized.

What struck me as interesting in this movie was the strange philosophical asides that were said between tortures. The aristocrats would talk about how the slaves were their for their enjoyment and that they were justified in their treatment as a result of their birthright or their standing in society. It reminds me of the biblical sentiment that animals are on the earth for the use of man as a justification of poor treatment of animals. I took from this that the Marquis de Sade was talking satirically, attacking the aristocratic system and treatment of the poor. As it turns out, I don't think he was, rather he believed some of what his character's spoke. Nonetheless, he is fascinating on many levels. He has been referenced by early psychologists for his views of human nature, he was viewed as a champion for the surrealist movement that occurred a hundred years after his death, even later than that he provided influence to post-structuralism, most notably, Michael Foucault.

Influenced by the Age of Enlightenment, the Marquis de Sade was a strong believer in rational thought and science. He believed that unexplained phenomena was simply something that was yet to be discovered. As a result, he believed religion to be the crutch of a superstitious man who could not fathom that things were simply not yet explained. He was an atheist to the point that he requested that he be buried in an unmarked grave without a religious ceremony. While he was placed in an unmarked grave, he was given a religious ceremony against his wishes. As a result of his belief in science, he developed a strong belief in what he considered the natural order of things. More specifically, he viewed a variety of vices to be natural urges. He absolutely hated the aristocracy which purported virtue but practiced vices. His vices included the following account from the Gazette d'Utrecht on April 26, 1768:

"Monsieur de Sade...going alone to his residence at Arcueil near Paris, chanced upon a beggar-woman whom he took with him to his house on the pretext that out of charity he wished to add her to his household, for his service. But when she arrived, he led her into an isolated room, bound her hands and feet, and stopped up her mouth to prevent her crying out. Taking a small knife, he made a number of incisions in various parts of her body and then melted some kind of Spanish wax into the cuts. Having done this, he calmly went out to take the air, leaving the victim of his ferocity under lock and key. However, she managed to free herself and jumped from the window without adding any more injury to herself than she had already sustained. All the villagers who saw her would have massacred the Comte (his actual title) de Sade if he had not fled. It is thought that he has lost his reason. His family has been granted an order for him to be detained at the chateau of Saumur, and the perforated woman has withdrawn the complaint she had made in court in consideration of a sum of money."

By the way, "perforated woman" is not a phrase you see often.

The Marquis insisted that the woman was actually a prostitute and that prostitutes are paid for their pain and trouble. Despite the settlement the Marquis did serve jail time for this incident. In fact, he spent 25 years of his life in prisons for various offenses. He most notably spent time in the Bastille where he had an entire floor to himself in one of the towers. The Marquis, being a "low" aristocrat, believed that he was being used as an example to other aristocrats to clean up their own libertine behaviors.

The Marquis de Sade's novels are known for their sadistically sexual stories that are controversial by today's standards. They were only released in 1985 in England after a legal battle. In all honesty, I find his writing style to be quite poor. His writings hold fascination by their dastardly plots, sadistic horror, and unique philosophical musings. The pornographic portions of his writing are extremely graphic as in Justine, Juliette, and 120 Days of Sodom.

The only book of the Marquis de Sade that is available in the Las Vegas, Clark County Library system is his mildest work, The Crimes of Love. Kind of ironic in that Las Vegas is considered sin city. Where can you find his more lewd writings? Why at the Salt Lake City library system, of course. If it isn't pure alcohol, boobs, or gambling, it is too much sin for Las Vegas.

Anyway, The Crimes of Love, a group of short stories, does not have descriptions of sadistic sexual acts. The Marquis de Sade wrote it, in part, to appease critics who thought his works were too graphic. The sadism rather focuses on psychological torture. One story, Miss Henrietta Stralson or The Effects of Despair: An English Tale, seems to be an answer to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I would have bet my life on it if it wasn't for the fact that Pride and Prejudice was published after this story was written. Here is my review of Pride and Prejudice:

I don't get it. I got nothing from this book.
It seems to be the equivalent of writing notes back and forth:
"Do you like me? Mark 'Yes' or 'No'."
"No...well...Maybe."
"I'm ever so wistful now."
"OK, I likes...lol."
"Yay, my heart dost gladden in my heaving breast."
Snore!

The Marquis de Sade, like Jane Austen, focused on passing notes and calling on another's houses. In this love triangle, Henrietta unwillingly catches the eye of a wealthy aristocrat, but she is promised to another. The aristocrat, named Granwel, decides to stop at nothing to "have" Henrietta. He tricks her into coming to his house and threatens to rape her. She says that she does not love her fiancée, named Williams. She persuades Granwel that he can have her in love rather than have her by force, but first she must break off her engagement. He agrees and she, in turn, thanks him graciously for not raping her.

Granwel later learns that she actually does love Williams. As the result, he claims to have been deceived (mind you to prevent him from raping her). He decides to take his vengeance for her treachery. He sets out to financially ruin Williams and hatches a scheme to have her arrested as a villain (which fails). Here is an excerpt:

"'I worship her!' exclaimed Granwel, seeing his cup of joy overflow. 'And this time she shall not escape me! However violent the methods I have adopted to possess her may be, they do not fill me with remorse, since I am consoled by the pleasure she shall give me... Remorse! Can a heart like mine ever know the meaning of such a feeling? The habit of evildoing expunged it long ago from my calloused soul. A host of beautiful women, all seduced like Henrietta, deceived like her, abandoned like her, could tell her if I was ever moved by their tears, alarmed by their struggles, moved by their shame, restrained by their charms... Well, here is one more name to add to the list of the illustrious victims of my debauchery. And what use would women be if they were not good for that?... I defy anyone to prove to me that nature created them for any other reason. Let us leave the absurd mania for setting them on pedestals to the morons. By spouting such lily-livered nonsense, we have encouraged women to get above themselves. They observe that we great store by the petty matter of having them, and accordingly think that they too are entitled to attach a great price to the same business and oblige us to waste on romantic elucubrations precious time which was meant only for pleasure...."

Oddly enough, many feminists, such as Angela Carter, have come out as Marquis de Sade supporters.

My favorite story in The Crimes of Love has got to be Florville and Courval. Twist after dramatic twist, a woman discovers that she has had a son with her brother. Later in life she is raped by her son (not knowing it was her son, of course) and killing him in the process. She later ends up unknowingly marrying her father after condemning a woman to be hung on the gallows. The woman ends up being her mother...of course. The woman in the middle of all of this, after learning all that she has done, unceremoniously "blows her brains out".

Książka w ogóle mnie nie zaangażowała. Historia bohaterów była mi obojętna, a ich kolejne perypetie sprawiały, że chciało się jak najszybciej ukrócić nie ich cierpienie, a własne. Język mnie nie zachwycił. Był użyty jedynie jako narzędzie do tego by przedstawić poglądy społeczno- filozoficzne autora. Czy można wówczas mówić o DZIELE literackim, gdy autor przelewając swoje wizje, koncepty na papier, ubiera je w odtwórcze, nijakie wyrażenia?

Odnosząc się do treści- nie zszokowała mnie nadto. Myślę, że "zawdzięczam" to specyfice czasów w jakich żyjemy obecnie (epoka social mediów). Toniemy w morzu perwersji, a różnego rodzaju dewiacje to chleb powszedni, który nauczyliśmy się spożywać ze smakiem- robiąc dobrą minę do złej gry. Dlatego, jeśli ktoś chce zanurzyć się w "lekko" przerysowanej rzeczywistości XXI wieku, to zapraszam do lektury.

ahlaksızlığın filozofu olarak bilinen marquis de sade'ın 3 uzun öyküsünün bir araya geldiği bu kitap, onu tanımak için iyi bir başlangıç olabilir. zaman zaman gereksiz detaylara girmiş olsa da oldukça akıcı ve merak uyandırıcı hikayeler bunlar: cinayet, aldatma, ensest, dolandırıcılık gibi türlü suçlar. ahlaksızlığı savunduğu iddia edilerek geçmişten bugüne çeşitli çevrelerce hor görülse de hikayelerin sonları göz önünde bulundurulduğunda suçun savunuculuğunu yaptığı görüşüne katılmak çok mümkün değil. olaylar daha çok insan olmanın sınırları ve hayatın cilveleri arasında gidip geliyor ki bir nevi aşk-ı memnu havası da esmiyor değil. kitabın başındaki marquis de sade'ın hayatını aydınlatan zaman çizelgesi -dönemin siyasi olayları ve kültürel eğilimleri dahil-, sonundaki sade'ın roman hakkındaki görüşleri ve sade'ın yaratıcılığı üstüne eklenmiş makale zenginleştirilmiş bir okuma sunuyor. notos'un baskısı da çok özenli. tavsiye ederim.

No sabía si ponerle 2 o 3 estrellas, finalmente me decidí por 3. Resulta que el Marqués de Sade podía ser mucho más sutil de lo que conocíamos. En estos no tan breves relatos el sexo en su sentido más común no aparece sino insinuado, y muy marginalmente; sin embargo, las narraciones nos hablan del más puro goce. Quizá sin parecerlo, sea esta la obra más perversa del Marqués, mostrando el lado más trágico de la perversión.

C'est vraiment moins pire que je le pensais. C'est clair que je lirai d'autres oeuvres de Sade, beaucoup trop brillant... (même si les relations familiales sont assez étranges...)

Takie 2.5 - trzeba przyznać pół punkta za wyrafinowany absurd. Bohaterowie mają tak długie monologi, a ja tylko jedno w głowie mam - Czy ktoś się Ciebie w ogóle pytał Florville? (Cierpliwość przyszłego małżonka godna największego podziwu 🙌) All in all książka mnie totalnie przygnębiła, tak dalece różne mamy światopoglądy z autorem (miałam ochotę ją wyrzucić do śmietnika i więcej tam nie zaglądać). Natomiast warto poznawać różne punkty widzenia, libertynizm jest po prostu nie dla mnie 🙈

To było odjechane. Średnio w dobrym tego słowa znaczeniu. Kiedyś na pewno budziło większe kontrowersje, teraz nie robi aż takiego wrażenia (co trochę mówi o naszych czasach). Akcja niczym z najbardziej odklejonej telenoweli. Ale bawiłam się dobrze, im bardziej absurdalnie tym bardziej mnie to bawiło. Nie zmienia to faktu, że książka jest średnia i jednym z jej nielicznych plusów jest to, że jest mocno niestandardowa w porównaniu do tego, co czytam na codzień🌞

After reading Sade's other literature, I have found this book a bit watered down. I do not feel it is Sade at his fullest. However his philosophy is still apparent, though not very.

Still it was very enjoyable to read because of his reflections, and the stories, while watered down, were very moralizing and kept me wanting to know how the tragedy he put his characters through would end: In virtue, or in sorrow? Though to Sade these two words usually went hand in hand, I did not find it true in this book.

Sorry, great master, this time you did not get me hooked. Is it really necessary to describe the scenes with such detailing? And keep popping moral advices every, what, three lines? Don´t pretend you´re a moralist, dear Marquis, for we all know you are not. Period.

Dear…heavens. What a twisted, yet disturbingly brilliant mind belonged to the Marquis de Sade. The stories are grotesque, the characters are abominable, the morality is repugnant…yet the single minded logic of the author is unerring. My takeaway is that de Sade was trying to present spirituality and morality as a beautiful mirage. Something to be admired, but incapable of attaining due to the depravity of humanity. He seems to indicate that humans should embrace their depravity, rather than fight against it.

The style is highly reminiscent of the macabre tales written by Edgar Allen Poe. I have to wonder whether Poe drew some inspiration from the disturbing imagination of de Sade. Any reader should be cautioned that what is read here is highly controversial. Yet, highly thought provoking.

El libro más complicada de leer con el que me he topado. Pero la historia de Florville y la de Eugenie fueron las más atrapantes y las que me volaron la cabeza🤯. Si el libro tuviera solo estas dos narraciones sería perfecto.

Si je devais conseiller une édition pour lire Les crimes de l'amour, c'est sans hésitation celle-ci que je choisirais : contrairement aux éditions de poche, les 11 nouvelles y figurent, accompagnées de notes critiques très intéressantes. La comparaison entre les passages du manuscrit des années 1780 et la version publiée en 1800 témoignent du désir de Sade de devenir un homme de lettres, mais également du changement d'état d'esprit général après la Révolution : le point commun des changements apportés est souvent d'édulcorer, voire supprimer, les scènes pornographiques et les passages anticléricaux et/ou attaquant la religion. En contrepartie, la cruauté reste très présente et parfois accentuée, qu'elle soit l’œuvre du destin ou de personnages persécutant d'autres. Comme dans toutes les autres œuvres du Marquis que j'ai lues, la vertu est malmenée, malgré quelques dénouements heureux. Ceux-ci me convainquent d'ailleurs rarement, tant la peinture du vice est davantage réussie et plus forte dans ces textes. Chacun est construit selon un schéma précis, renvoyant parfois les uns aux autres (l'inceste dans Eugénie de Franval et dans Florville et Courval, le parent rival dans La comtesse de Sancerre et Laurence et Antonio, etc.), où les éléments s'enchaînent de façon à piéger les vertueux, qu'importe leurs efforts. Nul ne peut échapper à la cruauté et au crime, tout est trop bien agencé pour les y faire tomber. Sade maîtrise ses situations avec brio, tel un habile metteur en scène, multipliant les annonces, les symétries, etc.
Je ne dirais pas qu'il s'agit du meilleur écrit de Sade (bien qu'Eugénie de Franval soit particulièrement réussi), mais c'est un chef-d’œuvre de cruauté. Un bon texte pour commencer à découvrir cet auteur, je pense.

Following a very poignant dissertation on novels and writing, Sade embarks on stories of remarkable human cruelty. His hand is assured and his prose crisp. We are in 18th century Europe and life is still a grandiose believable illusion of virgins to be married, war, revenge, love and death. Sade paints the most virtuous people and the most decadent monsters with equal care to have characters with personal convictions, consistencies and occasional change of hearts. Well orchestrated and well explained, we see people do act after act of awful things. Eugenie de Franval is the crowning masterpiece where incest has rarely been so well defended and depicted. We are left with a beautiful look at human nature in all its glory and depravity.

De Sada je uvek zadovoljstvo čitati, čak i kada je ovako uzdržan i proračunat i kada uopšte ne liči na ono razulareno stvorenje iz 120 dana Sodome ili Filozofije u budoaru. Nekako sam uvek njegova dela doživljavao prepuštajući se uživanju u otkačenim i preteranim rečenicama, zapletima i situacijama, ne analizirajući ga previše ozbiljno, a trebalo je, jer on je očigledno imao ozbiljan duhovni i intelektualni razvoj ma koliko odavao utisak simpatičnog ludaka i razvratnika.

Estava à espera de conteúdo mais hardcore, mas encontrei em vez disso meia dúzia de contos cómico-trágicos que chocam mais pelo enredo, do que pelos actos descritos. Ainda assim, fiquei curiosa para ler mais deste autor a ver se a fama lhe faz jus, ou se apenas foi categorizado de indecoroso devido aos costumes da sua época.

De vez em quando gosto de ler uns clássicos porque aquela escrita pomposa é excelente para ajudar a adormecer.
