Head’s up! This is a retelling of The Crow. I confess, I loved that movie with Brandon Lee, so I couldn’t help but compare this very closely to that.
As you would expect, some aspects follow that storyline, almost to a T, and then there’s some that deviate. Of course I wont tell you which, you’ll have to read that for yourself to find out...
Mason is hell bent on finding justice for the girl from his past, but everything is working against him.
Raven rises from the depths for a second chance, seeking her own personal justice. But time is not on her side.
I liked the spin on this tale, especially some suprises I didn’t quite see coming. If you liked The Crow, I definitely suggest trying this one.

Wow! 🤯 What an absolute rollercoaster of emotions—E.K. Hunter has done it again! From the very first page, The Raven pulled me in and refused to let go. This dark paranormal romance is a hauntingly beautiful retelling of The Crow, but with a powerful twist: the vengeance belongs to the FMC, and she owns every moment of it.

The story is written with such intensity and emotion that I found myself completely swept away—I’ll admit, I even cried 😭. Raven’s journey through pain, rage, and ultimately healing was raw and captivating. Watching her confront her demons and fight through the darkness to reclaim herself was nothing short of breathtaking.

I also loved the dynamic between Raven and the cop—his devotion, regret, and determination to help her added so much depth and heart to the story. The suspense kept me hooked, the romance added fire, and the vengeance made it unforgettable.

This book does explore some heavy and dark themes, so I definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving in. But if you love dark paranormal romance with feminine rage, a second-chance connection, and a hot cop by your side, this is one you don’t want to miss.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 — 10/10 recommend!

Oh ya know, just a book I read in one sitting. No big deal. Right?

I started reading this thinking I wouldn’t get too far because I was tired. I was WRONG. I couldn’t stop turning the pages to see what was happening next. At times I was on the edge of my seat scared of what could happen, hoping for the best.

I was up far too late finishing this and then was sad when it was over. Selfishly I need more. I need more Mason & Raven. I need more revenge. I need more soulmates. I just need more.

Listen, if EK writes it… it’s a guaranteed five stars for me.

If you enjoyed the Mindf*ck series & also like the movie The Crow then you’ll love The Raven!

a story for a lifetime

Goodness I walked into this with very little hope the crow is my all time favorite movie and any rewrites usually leave a sour taste but this….. this was a version. I didn’t realize my heart and soul needed. I don’t think theirs a soul alive who could replace Branden Lee as the crow
But discovering the raven and her vengeance story …… I AM IN LOVE all over again!!! Thank you E.k hunter for this, thank you for giving us The redemption we didn’t know we needed

Never disappointed by anything E.K. Hunter writes!
This one was a little different from what we are used to but no less amazing! I really loved the way she makes it completely possible to come back and finish business! (iykyk)

Raven and Mason's connection was so special! I am so sad this was short story but it didn't feel rushed either. So well done!

Thank you for the sneak peak ARC!

The Raven by E.K. Hunter is a retelling of The Crow — one of my all-time favourite movies (the one with Brandon Lee — I’m not even wasting my time on the new version... anyway, I digress LOL). So I was a little nervous going into this book.

I have to say, though, I really enjoyed it. There were times I couldn’t help comparing it to the movie — some aspects were very close. But this time, the revenge belongs to a woman, which I loved. The first few killings were really well written — the broken bottle scene, though... OMG!!

I did feel like the last few kills didn’t quite have the same impact, but in the end, she got her revenge — and that’s what she needed to do before Halloween.

The story was written with such intensity and emotion, I was totally engrossed. Honestly, I could’ve read this in one sitting if I wasn’t older now and needed my beauty sleep LOL.

The dynamic between Raven and Mason, the cop, was fantastic. I loved it so much — his devotion to her and determination to help added more depth, and even a bit of romance, to the story.

Just a heads-up — this book does deal with some very heavy and dark themes, so I really recommend checking out the trigger warnings.

If you like The Crow, and enjoy dark paranormal romance with a hint of feminine rage and a hot cop, then I definitely recommend giving this book a read.

This was such a good read! I finished it in one sitting, completely lost in its world. It may be a short book, but it carried the weight and depth of a 500 page story in the best way possible. Nothing felt rushed or out of place, even with its fast pace. Every moment mattered and I loved every bit of it.

The plot? It only gets better as it unfolds. Unexpected in the best way. It’s the kind of twist you think you’ve seen coming… until you start doubting yourself. And just when you lower your guard? It hits. Hard. I was left satisfied and feeling fulfilled!

Early Reader Copy

From the opening pages, The Raven drags you into shadows—where past hurts bleed into the present, where the supernatural isn’t just lurking, it's carving its mark on every heartbeat. Hunter doesn’t ease you in with pretty scenery; she throws you into a world where darkness claws back.

The novel pulses with a darkness unlike “just paranormal.” It’s intimate. The supernatural elements don’t just decorate; they infect the story. There’s a sense that the world is watching, that magic / curse / whatever is alive and patient. Hunter layers the scenery, the weather, dreams/nightmares in ways that leave the air thick. It’s the kind of tension that sits with you even in daylight.

There are no “safe” choices. When characters act, their actions ripple; even decisions they think are right can have sinister consequences. Is revenge justified? Can forgiveness ever be enough? Hunter leans into questions where there are no easy answers—and that keeps the stakes high.

There is romantic tension, but it’s not the “safe harbor” kind. It binds as much as it wounds. It's the kind of “if you love me, know everything—and still try anyway” kind. Lovers who are both saviors and threats. That duality makes the romance addictive, even when you worry it will break everything.

he Raven is a dark, compelling slice of paranormal romance / fantasy, one that doesn’t pull punches. It’s strong in texture—mood, internal conflict, monstrous echoes of past sins—more about survival than victory. If you like stories where love is messy, magic hurts, and every turn holds risk, this will grip you.

I’d say it earns about 4.5 / 5 stars from me, maybe higher if the ending sticks the landing. It’s not sunshine; it’s midnight thunder—but there’s a fierce beauty in that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hauntingly Addictive Dark Romance

Potential Spoilers!

“Blood will flow…” — and from the very first line, The Raven delivers on that promise with a vengeance.

This dark paranormal romance novella is a gripping re-telling of The Crow, blending vengeance, forbidden love, and supernatural justice into a fast-paced, emotionally charged story.

We follow The Raven, a woman brutally wronged and murdered by those who rule the town with cruelty and fear. Brought back by a twist of fate, she sets out on a blood-soaked path of revenge. Her mission is clear—until The Cop, the man who failed to protect her once, steps back into her world. His determination to help her finish what she started—and keep her safe this time—adds a layer of aching tenderness to the otherwise relentless darkness.

What makes this novella shine is how it balances brutality with beauty. The revenge arc is fierce and satisfying, echoing the original tale’s iconic themes, while the romance thread is intimate, raw, and laced with longing. The chemistry between Raven and the Cop simmers beneath every encounter, offering brief, poignant respites from the storm of vengeance.

The prose is atmospheric and cinematic—fog-shrouded streets, shadowy alleys, and moonlit confrontations paint a vivid backdrop for the unfolding drama. Despite its shorter length, the story feels complete, delivering both heart-pounding action and emotional depth.

If you love vengeful heroines, tortured protectors, and paranormal twists, The Raven is an unmissable dark romance that will leave you breathless and craving more.

🐦‍⬛ 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

In the dance between death and desire, only the damned find redemption.

From the moment I discovered this was a retelling of “The Crow” I was immediately hooked.

What makes it better, is not only is it a retelling- but it takes its own beautiful and haunting twist that will have your emotions flowing freely.

Raven is a determined, head strong and powerful character set on revenge. She is a force to be reckoned with. I immediately fell in love with her.

“The Raven” is deeply haunted, dark, and poetically beautiful. A must read for fans of “The Crow”, dark paranormal romances, and gothic storytelling.

I won’t lie — I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately. Life’s been heavy, and honestly, finding the energy to sit down and get lost in a book has been harder than usual. But The Raven by E.K. Hunter? From the moment I stumbled across it, something about it grabbed me. And when I finally got my hands on it, I devoured it faster than anything I’ve read in a long time.
This book is so well written — haunting, raw, and beautifully paced. It hooked me from page one and didn’t let go. Think The Crow vibes — dark, gritty, emotional — and if that’s your thing, you’re going to absolutely love this.
Raven is fierce, unapologetic, and deeply human. She gives those who hurt her exactly what they deserve, and you can’t help but root for her the entire time. And Mason, the cop… let’s just say he’s delicious in every possible way. The kind of man you hope exists somewhere out there.
The twists and turns had me at the edge of my seat, flipping pages like my life depended on it. And the emotions? Oh, I cried. I rarely cry when I read, but this one cracked something open in me. And when I was done, I felt lighter — like I’d released something right along with Raven.
It’s the perfect spooky-season read, packed with revenge, redemption, love, and just the right amount of darkness. I can’t recommend it enough. If you pick this one up, I promise — you won’t want to put it down. I’m really hoping we see more of these characters (especially Eric 👀) in the future.
10/10 recommend. Absolutely phenomenal.

****ARC REVIEW****
I had the privilege of reading The Raven by E.K. Hunter as an ARC, and from the first chapter, I knew I was in for something bold, gritty, and deeply atmospheric. As a retelling of The Crow, this book doesn’t just echo the original — it reimagines it with its own haunting beauty and emotional weight.

Hunter’s prose is razor-sharp, poetic at times, and always purposeful. There’s a rhythm to the storytelling that mirrors the pulse of grief and vengeance coursing through the pages. Every dark moment is earned, and every quiet one filled with love feels sacred.

The protagonist (no spoilers here!) is a force — tormented, powerful, and oddly tender in moments that hit harder than I expected. The supernatural elements are woven in seamlessly, with a mythos that feels both familiar and fresh. And while The Raven pays homage to its inspiration, it never relies on nostalgia — it builds its own legacy.

What stood out most for me was the emotional core. This isn’t just a revenge story. It’s about love that refuses to die, about identity beyond death, and about the pain of holding on when everything tells you to let go.

Final thoughts:
The Raven is brutal and beautiful in equal measure — a must-read for fans of gothic storytelling, poetic justice, dark paranormal romance, and stories that bleed truth through fiction.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 definitely recommend

My ARC REVIEW on THE RAVEN
A dark paranormal romance.

5/5 ⭐
3/5 🌶️

Tropes:
· Vengeful FMC
· Hot detective
· Second chance
· Trauma
· Dual POV

Check the TWs!

This book was the perfect retelling of The Crow with a touch of the Mindf*ck series!  Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!  I immediately loved the idea of the Crow or in this case the Raven being a woman and coming back to get her revenge.

We start with Raven Blackwood who was killed on Halloween along side her fiance, Eric Mills.  A year later she returns given a chance to right the wrongs done to her.

Mason Roberts, the hot detective fighting for justice and refuses to back down against the Vipers who reek havoc on the lives in Hadleigh Peak.  Discovering connections between the deaths of the Vipers and Raven.  But there is more to him that meets the eye.

The tension between Raven and Mason was unexpected but at the same time I could see it coming, pun intended.  While there was a hint of spiciness, this is ultimately a story of both revenge and second chances.

My heart ached for both of them.  It had my crying!

I was completely surprised by the shocking revelation that adding my hatred for Grim.

So well written!  This was a retelling I have long been wanting for a long time and got to experience as an ARC read!  Thank you so much E.K!

ARC Review:

I could not put this novella down, I was absolutely hooked from beginning to end.

PLEASE CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS - THE STORY CAN BE EMOTIONAL AND INTENSE FOR SOME AS IT DOES EXPLORE DARK THEMES AND HAS SOME GRAPHIC DETAILS.

The story follows Raven who is savagely & brutally raped & murdered along with her fiancé Eric by the town gang members know as the "Vipers" on Halloween night. Raven finds herself in the in-between worlds and must decide if she wants to go back or move forward.

Mason "The Cop" tried to get justice for Raven for what they did to her, but, he failed. Unbeknownst to him, she is back, and this time, he will do everything in his power to help her get revenge for what they did.

The romance part in this story was deliciously and the twist and turns of the plot were amazingly done.

All characters in this story played an important part in relation to the story and not a single one overshadowed the other.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys strong characters and a beautifully paced storyline.
I cannot wait to see what other amazing stories you have in line for us.

++ I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Meet Raven — a restless spirit trapped between life and death, her heart burning with one thing only: revenge. She and her boyfriend, Eric, were brutally taken by the notorious gang known as The Vipers — Grim, their ruthless leader, and his vicious crew: Buck, Boogie, Ziggy, Pyro, and Butch.
Now, Raven haunts the shadows of the town they once ruled, her presence marked by the eerie caw of a black raven that always seems to appear before something terrible happens. Detective Roberts, once Raven’s friend, still carries the weight of finding her and Eric’s bodies. He despises the Vipers as much as she does — and he’ll stop at nothing to bring them down. But vengeance is a dangerous game, even for the dead. As the darkness closes in, the line between justice and damnation blurs.
Will Raven finally have her revenge and reunite with Eric… or is she doomed to wander the in-between forever?

I was completely hooked by the mystery, the vengeance, and  twist. This story had me perched on the edge of my seat, heart racing from start to finish.

I did receive this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, before I get into my review, please please please read and assess the trigger warnings before reading this book.

Im not usually a fan of shorter books. Normally, they dont hit the same way as other books.... But wow. I read this in one sitting, and I genuinely feel like I can not get over this book.

This book was written with such intense emotions, and I found myself SOBBING while reading it.

Raven's character development from pain, rage, and revenge to ultimately healing was so well done. It was honestly astonishing to see her fight her demons and the darkness to come back to herself.

Also, Mason, just his pure devotion to her as well as his feelings of regret, was so powerful, and it added so much more to the story.

This story was such a good mixture of grief, revenge, love, and hatred. The writing was just *chefs kiss*.

If you don’t like trigger warnings and graphic detail then please don’t read this book only to review it so low, because this book is a MASTERPIECE!👏🏼👏🏼🖤
E.K Hunter, you write so beautifully, you truly know how to captivate your readers and make them feel so connected with the characters between the pages! I honestly didn’t know how this story would end but my god I didn’t expect the ending.. an absolute masterpiece.
The plot was so addictive and so exhilarating that I was constantly on the edge of my seat!
The characters all stood out and played their roles to perfection.
I can tell that you put your soul into this book and it definitely paid off.
100% a five + star read for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+

A Tale of Revenge and a 2nd chance at love and life

Wow! What an emotional love story!
It reminded me very much of Brandon Lee's The Crow, with Raven's spirit seeking revenge for not just herself, but her lost fiance. Raven goes through the story thinking that revenge is what her soul needs in order to find peace.
But just when you think she's going to find the peaceful ending we were all expecting, you're met with the most delicious plot twist. I didn't expect that ending, but I loved every bit of it.

I especially liked how each one of the Vipers’ ending was fitting to what they had done to Raven and Eric.
I also appreciate the author's realistic approach to Raven's path to a happy ending. It wasn't instant. It took a lot of work, time, therapy, breakdowns and support for to come through to the other side of her trauma.

“A soul can’t rest until it resolves its unfinished business,”

Wow! what a ride this book took me on.
This was my first introduction to EK Hunter as an author, and now I have a taste for more.

I was initially pulled into this book by its reference to The Crow and the Mindf*ck Series, and it did not disappoint.

The sheer determination and courage shown by Raven to avenge not just her own traumatic death but that of her fiance had me rooting for her from page one.
Then we met Mason, the man assigned to her case and a figure from her past.

I read this cover to cover in 1 day. That was how gripped this book had me.
It is a perfect dark revenge story with a sprinkling of second chance romance. 10/10 would recommend.
Please remember to check the trigger warnings

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Raven by E. K. Hunter, and wow—I literally devoured this in one sitting.

This story masterfully blends paranormal suspense, second chances, and deep emotional healing, all wrapped in a tale of vengeance and reclamation of power. Raven's connection with her raven was haunting, beautiful, and defied human understanding. The dual POV kept me on edge from start to finish, pulling me into both Raven's pain and Mason's unwavering devotion.

I loved watching Raven's journey from brokenness to strength, reclaiming her voice and taking her revenge-it was raw, powerful, and deeply satisfying. Her bond with Mason felt timeless, unbreakable, and beyond the physical realm, a love story that truly lingers in your chest long after the last page.

This book had everything | crave—a vengeful FMC, suspense, trauma, healing, and a hard-won happily ever after. It's a story of survival, power, and love that refuses to be destroyed.

I loved every second of it... but then again, I love everything E. K. Hunter writes. Highly, highly recommend.

First, this book is trigger heavy. I cannot stress that enough. But what a ride! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. It's written very well and the plot line keeps you sucked in from the first chapter. I'd absolutely read it again. The FMC is back for revenge and boy does she deserve it. And you'll spend the whole book cheering her on while dying to know who and what is next. The MMC is a golden retriever style sidekick. FMC is her own hero here but he does his best to help her get the vengeance she's owed. This book will live rent free in my head for awhile. Just wow. Definitely recommend!

ARC REVIEW: E.K Hunter knows how to write, that's for sure. I couldn't put this down. This revenge story just sucks you in and doesn't let you go until you finish the story. It's also a roller-coaster ride of emotion with all the flashbacks that Raven gets as she's doing her thing, and Mason, what can I say about a man willing to die for the love of his life. I can't say too much, or it will give away some of the storyline, but know that Raven is a strong FMC getting revenge on a gang of guys that took everything from her. This is a very dark romance, and you need to check TW first, but man, you definitely need to read this book.

All I can say is…. Omg!!! This book wrecked me in the best way possible.
The Raven is a dark, haunting paranormal romance that feels like a reimagining of The Crow, only this time the woman is the one who rises, claiming her vengeance and her power.

Raven’s journey is raw and emotional—grief, rage, and heartbreak all tangled together until it becomes something beautiful. Her pain feels real, her strength unforgettable.

Check your triggers, but if you can handle the darkness, this story will stay with you long after the last page. Absolutely phenomenal.

And if you know me at all You Know I’m all about The Crow now The Raven!!!

This book was really good! It has very heavy details that could be hard for some to read so please mind the TW. This was more than just revenge, it had a love that refuses to die or let go! Ravens journey through pain, suffering & rage was so raw and you felt what she felt! The cop with his regret & determination to help her see this through was inspiring! I devoured this one in a few hours! The twist at the end was so worth it!!! You can tell the author put her heart & soul into this one and it was great! Definitely worth the read.

An incredibly well written paranormal romance. The dark plot pulled me in from the opening chapter, with so much heartache from our FMC that truly had the tear ducts going. That said, take note of the TWs, there are topics in this book which could be triggering.
Both Raven and The Cop are brilliant characters in the dark world this author has created. The plot flows well and keeps the reader engaged throughout. I can thoroughly recommend this to anyone who enjoys their paranormal on the dark side.

Read trigger warnings before you decide to read. Your mental health matters.

This was a rollercoaster. E.K Hunter knows how to pull you into a book. I was broken at some parts in this book but I am happy the main character was able to heal from her trauma. I like how the story ended. Did this book hit me hard at some points, yes, I couldn’t read one part because of what she went through, it broke me. I’m not sure if this book is a reread for me, as one tiggers always hits me hard, but I do recommend you check out the book.

Holy Shit! E.K, love.... you blew my mind with this in so many ways and I loved every minute of it. Raven was amazing, and so bad ass. When I had seen this was a nod to The Crow I was so excited, Brandon Lee was amazing in every way in that movie and is missed dearly. The story telling was phenomenal, I was on the edge of my seat, jaw on the floor, almost in tears, and cheering for Raven as she was getting her revenge. I cannot wait to see what you do next. Keep up the amazing work :)

I received an ARC and I'm freely reviewing.

Holy crap, Batman!! This book is crazy good. Full warning, pay attention to the trigger warnings. There are definitely some difficult chapters. Raven is one of the strongest female characters I have read in a long time. Raven is given the chance to get vengeance and handles it wonderfully. Mason is the detective that has been trying to get justice for a long time. Spoiler, Mason and Raven know each other. Once you start this book. you have to finish. You get pulled in soo fast!

If you're looking for a bada** female revenge story, then look no further. Welcome to The Raven. This story had me pumping my fist in the air cheering Raven on. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and finished in 2 days. There are some brutal parts, but they are very necessary to get the whole picture. This was my very first paranormal book and I can say I'm a true fan. Did NOT expect the ending and I'm so happy it was not predictable! EK Hunter has quickly become a top author for me.
