one of the first Readers Digest books which I read and it had three good books, Horsecatcher, 20th Maine, Sharks and Little Fish. Dunbars Cove didn't interest me for another year or two, likewise Green Helmet. Even in the much condensed versions these were great reads esp for a 10 year old more accustomed to comic books. Thanks to comic books I discovered Moby Dick, various books by Jules Verne, Dumas, Cooper, Mark Twain .Likewise Readers Digest exposed me to many authors whom I would not have found in my school library or at home where Readers Digest was the best we had generally. As badly condensed as many were they sparked my interest in reading more than comic books.
