Las 3 ⭐ no van porque sea un mal libro o porque esté mal escrito, sino porque a mí me costó demasiado enfocarme en la historia y eso hizo que perdiera el hilo varias veces.

Tengo que admitir que este libro fue una sorpresa; hace tiempo que quería leer a este autor y me gustó lo que encontré. Caden y Lucas me gustaron mucho como protagonistas; al principio sentí su relación un tanto forzada, pero después se fue dando con más naturalidad y me gustó aún más.

El único "pero" que le pongo es que sentí el final un poco apresurado, pero por lo demás, todo estuvo súper bien.

The 3 ⭐ rating isn't because it’s a bad book or poorly written, but rather because I struggled a lot to focus on the story, which caused me to lose my train of thought multiple times.

I have to admit this book was a pleasant surprise; I’ve wanted to read this author for a while now, and I liked what I found. I really liked Caden and Lucas as protagonists. At first, their relationship felt a bit forced, but later on, it developed more naturally, and I liked it even more.

The only downside for me is that the ending felt a bit rushed, but other than that, everything was great.

Didn't enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. I didn't like the writing style (and I'm not just talking about third person POV).

I refuse to believe people talk like this:

Then you had the grown ass biker men constantly saying dude and acting all chill? I'm not even sure what the correct wording is right now. But this just didn't fit the vibes of this biker gang that are supposed to be dealing drugs and guns.

I did however learn that people put pancakes in the oven during this "pan"cakes... WHAT?!

There was also scenes where the characters just felt so off from their usual character?

In one scene, Lucas invites Cade over to watch a movie and instead of sitting Cade straights up asks how he does doggy in that bed?? He's supposed to be straight and unsure about being gay? And Lucas (mr shy and nervous) doesn't hesitate to answer?

I did feel sorry for Lucas because no one deserves to go through the abusive relationship he went through and I understand why he couldn't tell the others about it or ask for help. But drugging Cade to run back to the abusive guy? He has a whole biker gang that could've prevented that and put that scene better.

Also one thing that I didn't understand or maybe I misread - Lucas ran away from his abuser right? He took a bit of money but left his phone and cards behind so no one could track him right? How does this man own a laptop? The abuser (I've forgotten his name) is a corrupt cop and he could've tracked him through that and no way did Lucas buy a laptop with his very limited cash supply.

Maybe I'm just beyond exhausted (British heatwaves are not for the weak) or maybe this book just wasn't for me. I'm not sure.

If you have been wanting to try a Matthew Dante book but don't want the darkness and twisty thriller, pick this one up. While Lucas does have a dark backstory with potential triggers for readers, the overall book to me has more lightness to it. Again some darkness regarding Lucas' past throughout the book but overall not as dark. Caden is the perfect protector for Lucas. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see what's in store for the secondary characters in this world.

Lucas Braden had two choices, go on the run or end his life. He finds his way to the small town of Baton, outside of Roswell, New Mexico. He couldn’t depend on help from his parents as they had moved to Peru. To contact anyone for help would just put his life in danger from his abusive ex-Darryl, he was truly on his own. He finds himself work at an out of the way biker bar “Ride ‘Em Hard”. With this job he was able to rent a barn space, where the top space was converted into a living quarters. It wasn’t anything fancy but it was the best he could do for right now.

“Ride ‘Em Hard” was owned by Marcus the leader of the Shadow Vipers MC gang. There was: Ace his younger brother by marriage, who he raised from the age of three when he was sixteen. All the members worked for Marcus at the bar and had more serious jobs to do for him. They dealt with: drugs, weapons, rare antiquities and some unique items, anything for a price. Marcus at the age of forty, was a fair boss but he had a reputation. He partied with the best of them but no one dared got on his bad side.

Caden Flanagan is one of the bouncers at the bar. Caden at the age of fifteen, had his fair share of trouble. Because of his father he experienced coke and weed usage. That was the way his father’s mind worked for Caden to become a man. His father thought it useless for Caden to always have his nose in a book, learning and studying. Caden’s mother had run-off soon after he was born. How his father raised him and kept a roof over their heads Caden would never know. His father had always had a drug problem even in his fifties. Crime got his father arrested, jailed and not a good ending. Cade went on to stay with a Mrs. Warden until he turned eighteen and found work with Marcus and the Shadow Vipers.

Lucas has been keeping his head down and just does his job. He has to be careful he doesn’t want to get involved and have his ex find him. Unfortunately, he can only stay out of the way for so long, as he physically runs into Caden. Caden was just his type. He liked the big muscled guys and Caden fit the bill, but he was disappointed as he is sure Caden is straight. As he tries to avoid Caden, Caden is just as curious about Lucas. Gradually they get to know each other. But just when things seem to be looking up danger comes calling. Will Lucas take a stand or will he give in to an evil, controlling man?

Matthew Dante takes a chance with “Primal Urges” and begins a new series “Biker’s of Mayhem”. The story is a different from what he usually delivers with his “Book of Sin” and “Rough Edges” series. There’s an entire line-up of new characters: Marcus, Ace,
Alexis and Jake, Sheriff Burke, Blade, Damian, Lizzy, Cadens daughter and Nikolai.

I liked Lucas as he’s dealing with low self esteem and making hard decisions about a future that he would still like to have. He also struggles with his feelings for Caden. He knows he was with a women and they had Lizzy. Caden is a good dad and takes care of Lizzy. Lizzy brings lot’s of joy to Lucas too. As for Lucas he becomes a surprise just when things get dangerous.

I highly recommend “Primal Urges” the start of “Bikers of Mayhem” new series. This novel is not as dark themed as Dante’s other two series. This first book has just the right amount of: danger, suspense, new friends, and discovering ones sexuality. There’s also a sweet little girl and the love and lightness she brings to the Cade and Lucas. Followers of Matthew Dante will enjoy the start of this new series, It’s very entertaining and kept me wanting to see where Lucas and Cade would end up.

I read this book twice because the first time I read it, it was completely forgettable. I couldn't remember anything about the book when I reread it in October 2025, even though my 1st reading was in July 2025. Everything except the conclusion is predictable.

This is the first book in the Bikers of Mayhem Series and it’s off to a cracking start.

Lucas is a sweet 24 year old who went to theatre school, loves to sing and dance and dreamt of a life on Broadway. But Lucas’ dreams were shattered when he was conned into a relationship by a manipulative abusive alcoholic bully and his life became such a nightmare he had to run or kill himself. He runs, with nothing but a duffle and his meagre secret savings, no credit cards, a job that pays cash and renting a converted barn space where no references were required. He became invisible.

He finds himself in a small town in New Mexico working as a busboy in a busy, loud biker bar owned by Marcus, surrounded by huge tattooed men and jumping at his own shadow. It’s here he meets Caden, one of Marcus’s inner circle and bouncer at the bar. Lucas is drawn to him but is too scared to make a move and when he finds Caden is a dad to a gorgeous little girl he realises he has picked a straight guy.

Caden can’t understand why he is obsessing over Lucas. He sees his vulnerability and knows there has to be a back story and he feels very protective of him. They get closer and Caden deals with his newly discovered bi side without drama. There is steamy goodness and they make a gorgeous pair.

Matthew’s books are usually dark but he always lightens the darkest bits with humour. I felt this book was much lighter although with not so much humour. The plot was good, an age gap, the characters likeable, except one, and interesting and Marcus the head of the operation is central to the book and no doubt the series. He has a kind side but is lethal if you cross him and wow when Lucas’s past catches up with him he amazed them all when he fought back.

Looking forward to book 2 and I’m hoping it’s Ace, Marcus’ gay half brother and straight, maybe, Blade’s story.

Lucas is a great main character. He’s talented, kind, and has a past that doesn’t quite stay in the past. Caden falls under his spell almost immediately and really is exactly what Lucas needs. I love that the roughness and grittiness of Matthew Dante’s writing is what my imagination thinks a rough and tumble biker crew would be like. I feel like he transports me to a different side of the world when I read his books. The darker side, the harder side of the world. I feel like his characters step off the page whether it’s with violence or steaminess or a deep abiding friendship. Each time I start one of Dante’s books, I’m excited and hopeful for a series because so many of his characters stand out to me. Like Marcus and Ace, brothers and friends, but what keeps them together? What makes the Shadow Vipers such a tight knit family? Well, we’ll have to see what happens in the next book.

Well, I'm a sucker for a motorcycle club romance. Matthew has written a fun group of guys! As with all genres of romance, I love the spin each writer puts on particular themes so it was cool seeing the their personal take on a biker club. This book was over-the-top and kind of corny at times, but I found the plot entertaining and found myself wanting to see Caden and Lucas get their happily ever after. There was a bit of suspense in the plot as Lucas's past comes to catch up with him, but I actually quite liked the resolution. Cade and Lucas were super spicy together, and although Caden was definitely a bit confused about his attraction to Lucas at first, he rolled with the punches and protected him, along with Lucas's new little found family.

Caden has a life he is happy with. A job he likes. Friends he is close to and a boss who looks after everyone. Then one night he bumps into the new employee. All of a sudden life as he thought it is questionable.

Lucas is living a life he never wanted. He has decided he needs to do something about it. He takes steps to start a whole new life. The only problem is he keeps looking over his shoulder watching for his abusive ex.

These two together are opposite everything. There is so many genres this story covers but the bottom line for me is the story held my attention till the very end. There is awakening. There are such original second characters. And there are situations that made me laugh and cry. I especially love how original the solution Lucas used to deal with his ex.

I always watch for this author’s stories because they hold my attention, keep me guessing and make the characters so believable.

Since this is the first in the series I’m really looking forward to the next.

Who doesn't love being saved by a knight in shining armor? Lucas was extremely thankful to Darryl; they spent the night in Lucas' apartment "having orgasm after orgasm" after Darryl saved him from a robber who stole his shopping bags. They were dating briefly before the true Darryl emerged, who was both mentally and physically violent and treated Lucas as if he were his property.
I felt terrible for what happened to Lucas. Thankfully, Darryl got what he deserved—because it was very unlikely he went to prison since he was a cop and a corrupt one, plus his colleagues were no better than him—bitten by snakes brought by Lucas. Darryl was dead; he was no longer a threat to Lucas.

The following book will be about Ace and Blade. In this book, Ace was already hooking up with other men; one in particular was in the back of the bar Ace's stepbrother owned. They were done it in the open. I'm starting to not like Ace already.

This was such a thrilling book to read, engaging, and the flow of the book was amazing.


Lucas finds himself in a tough situation with his current partner that makes him make a decision to leave and never return and hopefully find an escape far away from his current position.

Leading him to a small town in New Mexico where he meets Caden, who is part of a motorcycle gang called the Shadow Vipers, which basically runs the town.

This was such a pleasant surprise for me with how the relationship between the main characters progressed. The attraction for each other is inevitable, and that has Caden questioning his sexuality, making the relationship a bit of a slow burn, but it permits the characters to strengthen their bond.

The side characters and the found family aspect are so heartwarming; it’s just what Lucas needed to finally heal.

Overall, this was such a great start to a new series, and I can't wait for the second book!!

This was a pretty quick read. It’s a bit of a slow burn at the beginning but it has this mystery element that hooks you in and a bit of a twist. I’m definitely interested in the next book.

I am speechless. This book was exactly what I needed to keep me entertained and excited to get back into reading.

Nowadays, I’m very meticulous with the small town and biker romances I pick. Sometimes, when it comes to small town romances, authors just decide to info dump all the characters involved. But this one doesn’t! It does have side characters, but each one has a purpose and is actually entertaining and funny.

I swear this book is a rom-com in disguise because I laughed so much while reading it. But besides that, it was perfectly written in my opinion, even though it was in third person.

The plot was intriguing and extremely entertaining. I finished it in one sitting and I just need more of Lucas and Cade.

Definitely will be picking up the next book in the series.

First book in a hot new series!

Lucas and Cadens story is sweet, hot, and full of promise.

Lucas doesn’t belong in a biker bar. He’s cute and quiet and kind. The kind of guy that sings and dances when he thinks he’ alone. He’ hiding a big secret, he’s insanely attracted to the straight hot biker guy Caden.

Caden is a straight single protective father, or so he thought. Being around Lucas brings out confusing feelings and a need to look out for him.

Coffee delivery, bi awakening, motorcycle rides, steamy encounters, snakes and sleeping pills, make this a story that you can’t put down. 5 stars!!!!

Me encantó… si tuviera 7 años y me hubiera pegado en la cabeza y hubiera nacido con una malformación y nunca antes hubiera leído un libro… WATAFAC quien escribió esto les juro que parecía peor que un fanfic de una quinceañera. Lo único que podía pensar era en cuántas veces se repetía la palabra porno y lo mal escritas que estaban algunas escenas 😭 1.5 estrellas porque habían algunas partes que estaban bien… Preferiría leer la historia de Marcus, creo que es más interesante para empezar una saga que la de un personaje que no tiene mucha participación en la historia más allá de ser miembro del MC

Caden is totally his type. Big, possessive, aggressive and secret romantic. But he is straight. At least he is until he sees Luc's ass.

Caden is nothing but a 6’2” burly muscular teddy bear. With a heart of gold and the need to protect and look after his man Lucas. What he truely is with his mans if the complete opposite of exterior.

This was a very good read. Nice and easy. The story flowed well and there was no unnecessary fluff to the book.

The spice spiced well and what’s not over embellished either.

Nice quick read to Segway from something very dark to something a little lighter.

I can’t wait for book 2 and to read about Ace and Blade

A lot of the dialogue, both internal and external, just felt like it was trying to hard to be funny. I assume based on some of the writing that Caden's toxic masculinity is acknowledged and worked through as the book goes on, but the way it was written felt like we were supposed to find some of it funny but it instead came off as incredibly cringey.

I also resent the fact that apparently this biker bar plays Taylor Swift when one of the gay bikers brings his friends there, that's a hate crime.

Great book and I loved Dante and Lucas as a couple and there love for one another. The tone of the book was perfect for them , but...
I had a really difficult time with something most people probably don´t think about if they don´t love books with bikers in them. It´s a motorcycle club and and not a motorcycle gang, hence the abbreviation MC.

You should know better as an author, please change this for the next book because I´m looking forward to it :)

I loved this story. It's amazing how you think you are who you are and will always be. Then someone comes into your life and changes it. Primal Urges is the first book in the new Bikers of Mayhem series, and I am all for this. This is an age gap, sexual awakening, action filled read about Lucas and Caden. This book isn't as dark as a lot of the books I have read by this author, but this is in no way a bad thing. I absolutely loved the story and the characters, I can't wait for more of this series.

Cade & Lucas

I really enjoyed this start to what looks like will be an interesting and very entertaining new series. Cade and Lucas were great together and I appreciated how things developed for them throughout the story. I also very much enjoyed how the plan Lucas came up with played out.

Lucas and Caden

Lucas escapes his abusive boyfriend and finds Caden but Caden is straight even though there is a lot of attraction between the two of them. These two characters are perfect for each other. Caden is loving and protective towards Lucas. I love the dynamic between the two of them. There relationship is sweet and loving.
