A good book, blending revenge and love into a compelling tale. Damien is a duke with many secrets, and when he hears he is supposedly courting Emmeline Montrose - a young lady he has no knowledge of, he seizes the opportunity. A plan forms: she will be his wife, a union that will help repair his reputation. At least, that’s what he tells Emma.

Emma is a woman marked by scars, both visible and hidden. She has endured much, yet her devotion to her family drives her to accept the marriage, hoping to lift them out of hardship. Her strength, independence, and loyalty shine throughout the story.

Damien and Emma prove to be a match made in heaven. Their love is fierce, their care for one another deep. Damien, though burdened by secrets and emotions, reveals himself to be kind and loyal. Emma’s resilience and determination balance his intensity, creating a romance that feels both passionate and tender.

Claire Devon delivers a story of healing, trust, and devotion, showing that even the devilish duke can find salvation in love.

Wow! This story is exhausting with all its twists and turns. Secrets kept are destroying Damien and Emma. Her’s from shame, his from revenge! It was enthralling to watch these two work through these issues and seeing their relationship grow. This is a book that is hard to put down and very easy to get lost in. The chemistry between Damien and Emma is hard to miss and the characters are all well developed . You feel their pain and anguish, as well as their joy and love. Damien’s hot and cold nature got a little frustrating , but I could see what the author was trying to portray with it. The villain certainly was handled well and the bonus epilogues were adorable. I truly enjoyed this story!

Well written, full of drama, society, secrets, intrigue, steamy, suspense, chemistry, love, twists and turns. Lady Emma has lied to protect herself so that people would leave her alone. Only the man she picks is the Duke, Damien, who knows nothing about this arrangement. Emma and Damien end up with a marriage of convenience to solve both of their issues. As they spend more time together, their feelings change. Add in the villains and what a fabulous storyline you have to read. All the characters, both bad and good are remarkable, ready to ignite the pages and very complex. Curl up and enjoy this story. Great epilogues . Would recommend to everyone.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.

What an intriguing story Lady Emma Montrose always puts her family above all else. She helps her father run the estate.

Emma has a secret she has kept from her family. She has started a rumor that she's involve with the Duke of Redmane.

Damien Fitzgerald the Duke of Redmane is furious that someone would use his name. He throws a ball to met her.
A marriage of convenience occurs.

The steamy, intriguing story lines grabs you in. To watch their relationship blooms. With all the twist and turns.

Well written, wonderful characters.

Before I picked up this book, my reading wells had run dry. I'd choked on so much historical war fiction for my job, I desperately needed a regency to quench my thirst. And this delivered. It was smutty, it was fun, there were times when it was a little bit silly... It was unabashedly feminine and lives in the same vein as Stacy Reid's My Darling Duke, it starts with the FMC spreading rumors that she's being courted by the MMC, leading to a fiery courtship.

A wonderful story,

Emma is from a good but poor family and to save herself from marriage she used the name of Damian as her fiance. Unbeknownst to her, Damian took advantage of her lie for his own purpose. Emma was coerced into marriage as a method of revenge. Things did not work in Damian favor as we learn the reason behind the marriage and all that he has hidden from Emma. Enjoy!

I enjoyed Damien and Emma's story, both had secrets and scars both mental and physical from their past and I was pleased they found their HEA. I found the story a bit far fetched, particularly towards the end with the fire and Damien's injuries and yet, even with a broken leg and ribs, he still managed to rescue Emma and Elsie. I also worried that, as Sutherland wasn't killed in the fire, he'd come back to trouble them. However, overall it was a great story which I enjoyed.

The story shows how much dramatic events in your early life can affect your life in the future and the choices you make. Some people dwell on those events and let it affect them negatively while others try to move past them and get the happy life that they deserve. It also shows the importance of communication and being open with each other in a relationship. Read and enjoy!

Not a favourite!

The storyline did not work for me. The character of Emma I found too often annoying. The pacing was often long and arduous. While I enjoy Ms. Devon's work, this one missed the mark.

Damien & Emma

Much more romantic names: Damien and Emma. I recently read a book with MCs named Jack and Michelle. Great names, just not romantic in the slightest. What is it about Regency romances that are super incredibly romantic?!
