As Kate prepares herself to leave and become mated to the dragon king she is not sure what to expect. One thing she definitely does not expect is that she will be taken to new heights of sexual ecstasy that she never thought were possible.
As she begins to fall in love with Victor she begins to wonder. Is he as good as he makes himself out to be? Or is she just falling under his evil spell?
Most importantly, does she still have what it takes to execute her plan and free her people?

I can't decide between 1 1/2 stars or 2 stars, I wanted to like this book, when I read the description I was really excited that I had found a paranormal romance sadly this one fell flat and then some. I have never read a book where the description of the book doesn't fit. I kept expecting something to happen based on the book description and it just never did. My other huge issue with this book were the characters. Every time a woman opened her mouth it felt like middle school nowhere in this book did I feel like these woman were actually grown woman, and I almost felt like everyone was prancing in the forest and the girls were Vanessa's friend (from the Cosby show)Kara who talks sonic speed fast.
The men who were dragon shifters and strong and should have been " I am man hear me roar" ended up feeling more like Scootch Raccoon from the old cartoon PB&J who said "Sorry, sorry, my fault" or "Oops, my fault!" The reactions everyone had in this book were just not real and in turn because of all of this I didn't feel an ounce of connection to these characters. This book had potential, the story was very different and I think this book could have not only been good but great but sadly is just wasn't. I know this book review may seem harsh but this is all I could think of the entire time I read this book, my heard was a jumbled mess.
first off I know that shifter stories require a bit of suspending truths to read them even with this I still love a good steamy shifter story with a strong Alpha male and a spunky heroine.
Second - this review is my own personal thoughts- others may have different opinions and that’s fine. But here are my thoughts.
This heroine frustrated me from the get go. I suffered extreme whiplash from her thoughts and run on conversations.
This story can boiled down to this: 1. I volunteer as tribute 2. Lust at first sight based on looks 3. Alpha male - “I protect you” 4. “I don’t need your protection” 5. I protect you - I ordered it 6. “Fine! I’ll accept your protection” 7. Heroine sneaks out and does what she wants any way 8. Heroine in peril 9. Alpha male saves her 10. “So glad I have you to protect me”
Also so much of this story was way too convenient- too easy.
Example: Heroine gets awesome power from the “mingling” ceremony. She can immediately control it with a small bit of practice and as the story goes on she finds she can do more and more with this power - each time she discovers a new depth to this power she practices a little and boom 💥- good to go.
Also, the author proceeds to tell us over and over again - stuff that she has already explained. Story would have been much better without all the over done explanations.
So needless to say this one is not going on my favorites list. Here’s to hoping the next book is better.
Great book, loved everything about it..love Dragon shifters. Nothing left to the imagination, the shift from human to dragon, the battles, though I wish I knew what the Oppressors looked like in their shift form, or whatever form. Victor being the protective husband and the fact it was a 'curvie ' woman who became his wife made a nice change. Love books like this.
I tried spoon hard to read this through. The plot was actually quite interesting and could have made a truly exciting, tantalizing book.
The execution was bland, repetitive and stiff. None of the characters seemed to stand out really; their personalities were quite similar. Dialogue was stiff and didn't really seem to fit with the characters or their supposed personalities. Kate was inconsistent; one second she passes out at the thought and sight of blood, then she's suddenly a sharp shooter and basically kills a guy, then she's completely unaffected and then back to passing out again. Julia and Elizabeth could have been wonderful characters but we're quite flat.
Also, the constant repetition of the overview of The Event and the Oppressors and the Keepers every few chapters along with the reminder of Kate being a bigger girl is kind of irritating; she knows she's bigger, I know she's bigger, Victor knows she's bigger, huzzah. If I (the reader) am at chapter four or chapter nine or thirteen, you should safely assume I've read the previous chapters and don't need to be reminded of the big bold plot points. if it was a second book in a serious may eat recap wouldn't be amiss but in the middle of a book? when I just read about some supposed epic battle about these people that you are now telling me about again? And Victor was supposed to be grade A navy Seal alpha male and sounded like an perturbed English professor most of the time.
I wanted to like this book for its plot alone, but a book isn't all about the plot. It's about creating characters that a relatable and vibrant and consistent (even of they go through change during the course of the story), even if they are peripheral characters but most especially if they are main characters. Show us how they feel, what drives them, what irritates them...how they love, why they love, not just that they love.
Show don't tell.
Good luck and don't ever stop writing if it makes you happy.
Everything was too convenient and made into a neat, tight package. From Victor's and Kate's relationship to the outcome of some battle, it was all too predictable. There was no surprises or anything unexpected and lots of things were left unexplained such as how Victor learnt new magic. Also, there was a lot of grammatical errors and a few times Miles, one of the bad guys, was even called Victor, the main hero. Anyway, I didn't even end up finishing it because it got to boring.
the story line didn't play right, falling madly in love at first sight an just the general feel for the characters was all off.
only made to chapter 9 where the author starts retelling history an events as if it's a new book an more like page filler than anything useful or interesting. Lost me then.
had big hopes for this book, an usually I can read almost anything but wow that is my limit, just feels like it was rushed an could have been so much more
This book basically copies another popular dragon-shifter story, just about scene by scene with a few changes. If that wasn't bad enough, this book is so poorly written that I'm not sure how anyone could enjoy it. It's choppy, muddled, and hard to follow.
I really hate plagiarizers and I hope this author doesn't try it again!
I liked this book. The action begins with Kate and her self bravery. The story moves along at a decent pace. The only thing I didn't like was the repeating of the " THE EVENT". We got it in the first two chapters. Otherwise this was a cool book and I would recommend this book to everyone.
evil sorcerers nearly wipe out the human race...a good scientist created Dragon shifters out of navy seals and protected his hometown. he hometown donates 1 bride every year for the shifters....the shifters continue to fight the sorcerers...
You're gonna need oven mitts tonight just to read these pages. The characters just melt my heart. Brave sexy and stunningly beautiful. I can only hope I can find more! Do yourself a Huge favor, GET THIS BOOK!!!!!!
Seriously? So not realistic. I thought maybe this could be original and an enjoyable read but from the point where Kate is actually happy to be a sacrificial bride, I just gave up. Sorry but definitely not my style.
this one was cute but so much confusing and odd at times. I did enjoy it but I'm still confused but I would like to try more by this author and see if it gets better
