Not the biggest fan of a lot of the book... There were a lot of mistranslations, inauthentic stories from the seerah, and a few major misconceptions in our beliefs written in this by the author. Sometimes you will feel Davenport is talking about Muhammad ﷺ disrespectfully but you also get befuddled realising he is trying to defend him!

However, I do understand that this was an attempt to defend us from the accusations thrown at Islam and by a non-Muslim at a time when resources were scarce, so the access to hadith would not have been as easy as it is today. His fascination with the Qur'an (seems to be from an acceptable translation) and passion in defending the Muslims for what he witnessed of them may not redeem all his lapses but given the time and task he took on, it was a good effort.

Despite that, I do not recommend Muslims who are not already versed in the seerah and have some knowledge of aqeedah to read this, it needs to be read carefully!

An important testimony from a renowned clergyman. I appreciated the man's honesty in spelling out what most of his peers never dared to speak of or even tackle properly in any of their writings.
