Legends of Fire

Rate this book
Some secrets were never meant to be exposed to the light of the world.

When the Raven Faery Queen’s brother is cursed and in danger of losing his wings and mind, she calls in specialized mercenaries for the Seelie Faery Court—Benton and Rylan (also known as Soap). They immediately discover this might not be a cut and dry mission.

Benton is reminded of a promise he vowed to keep and uncovers an important tie to his family’s past. But the secrets go beyond his family and lead to the real reason Elementals, like Benton, are being hunted and are almost extinct. Soap also discovers a link to his past that threatens his magic and reveals deadly truths about the Land of Faerie and the two divided courts.

In the midst of it all, Benton and Rylan are tasked with finding Zena, a human girl with the gift of The Sight, before she is captured by an obsessed bounty hunter who only hunts humans with specific and unusual abilities for nefarious reasons.

Some say you should never trust a faery…

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Having followed this series from the beginning, I always anxiously await the next installment. While each ends the plot it contains, it still leaves questions unanswered and opens a whole "new kettle of fish". Ms. Purdy's Legends of Fire is no exception, and, in fact, opens a huge new unresolved issue with which to deal. I look forward to many new books ahead for this remarkable series.
That being said, this story revolves around Benton and Rylan (Soap) and their quest to remedy the mysterious withering illness that has befallen the brother of the Queen of The Raven Clan. In the course of their journey, old friends return, new problems surface and some niggling questions from the past are answered, only to generate new questions. I found myself very involved in the story and totally immersed in the world, which is what I ask for in my pleasure reading. I wholeheartedly recommend Legends of Fire to all lovers of fantasy and, if you haven't started this series, I suggest that you owe it to yourself to do so now. Thanks, Alexia, for a very satisfying and exciting read.

That was soooooo good. When I finished I said Omg!!!! (It's that good!!!!) The story is epic, the writing is captivating, very descriptive, and addicting! I couldn't put my kindle down!!! I love the new characters that was introduced into this new book... They're so much fun! Also glad to be back in the faerie world with Shade and the rest. When I found out a new book was being released I got so excited I really missed this world and the characters and I wasn't disappointed at all! There's alot of emotion in this story, and one heck of a plot twist that is unbelievable!!!!! When I thought I had things figured out things would go a different way and just blew my mind!!!!! Love Love Love!!!!!!

I did like the continuation of the story…and I may lean more towards a four star if that was how I read it but, I listened to this one. I wasn’t impressed with the narrator. He did okay with the speaking parts but the reading parts sounded just like that, reading. It was a bit distracting and seemed unnatural and forced.

But, getting beyond that, the story was good and moved well. I continue to be impressed with the growth of the characters in this series. And I enjoy meeting new friends or visiting old ones.

Looking forward to getting into the next book in the series.

Once again the land of Faery is under attack and this time Benton and Soap are in the midst of it. Ms Purdy is quickly becoming queen of the twisted and multi-layered plots as we find ourselves immersed in another of her works of art. As Benton and Soap rush to help those around them and Benton to right a wrong they get themselves in all kinds of trouble and foolery. Old rivals appear as well as old loves. New loves are possible as well as myths uncovered. And maybe just maybe Soap will finally find some peace. I do so love Soap and hate that his heart has been twisted in so much pain, what a pair Benton and he make, both hurting with unrequited love, as they battle to save Faery. . . . again.

Yes! Alexia has a great hand with this series. I am loving where this story is going and how it has evolved from just Shade with fully realized additional characters. Soap and Benton are great, and it was fascinating to learn more about Soap and his background with the Teleen.

I read this one fast because I literally couldn't put it down. Fun reading with a well loved character cast. I can't wait for the next one!!!

Soap and Benton find themselves in a tiring adventure to save Zena. They soon find out that she's not the only one they have to save. With the help of the Teleen worriers, they set out to save the land of Fearie.

This is an amazing series and I can't wait to read more.
