Emma Creed lives in England and enjoys behaving like the perfect princess to her extremely tolerable husband all whilst raising 3 boys and a mini princess in the making. When she isn’t entertaining the voices in her head, she spends her free time with a glass of white wine and a good book. Emma has been an avid reader since she was a little girl and with a little encouragement to take the leap into writing, she discovered that she loved it. When she isn’t locked in her writing cave making up stories she can be found chatting on social media and wasting hours scrolling through Tik Toc.
When Matthew Edwards is found murdered, his widow Erin and his younger brother Luke are left behind to pick up the pieces. What starts as a tale of grief and forbidden attraction quickly turns into a dark story about secrets, abuse, and survival.
While the town mourns, Erin hides a cruel truth, Matthew wasn’t the golden boy everyone thought he was. Behind closed doors, he was controlling, violent, and cruel.
Luke, who has always harbored feelings for Erin, steps up to support her. Their grief pulls them together, and slowly, Erin starts to see him not as the lazy younger brother, but as someone who can give her the care and gentleness she never had with Matthew. Their chemistry grows into something both tender and forbidden.
For a while, a pregnancy test throws everything into chaos. But in the end, the real twist lands and we learn who the killer was and who is really pregnant.
The book closes on a bittersweet note with Erin finally safe and loved in Luke’s arms, but her future is tied forever to the child of the man she both married and murdered.

So, so good . Absolutely loved everything about Luke, & Erins story.
Let's face it , there were a handful of people that could have killed Matthew, but Emma Creed didn't give anything away until the end .
Erin suffered in silence during her marriage , who would believe her if she said the man everyone thought was a good, decent man used to beat her .
Luke had always loved Erin , but thought he wasn't good enough for her . It hurt not being with her , but it broke his heart when she married his brother , & became his sister in law.
This couple know they are meant to be , & they damn well make sure they get their HEA.
This one honestly felt more like a novella with how short and quick it was. The story moved fast and ended before I could really get attached to the characters or the plot. I liked what was there, I just wished there had been more to dig into. Also, not sure why this book was considered “dark” at all, LOL.
Got to love a cowboy story. That twist at the end…. I was not expecting that! Story was great. Characters were great.. Slowburn (ish) Brother loves his sister in law/ she loves him/but they’ve only just buried the husband/brother! So they have to keep it behind closed doors. Until they are discovered! Oh and forget the pregnancy (who’s the daddy?)
I absolutely love this collection of the seven deadly sins. Emma Creed's Sloth makes a perfect addition. Her style of writing and the creation of her characters are just incredible. This is one story you can't miss. I highly recommend it.
Brilliant! Here we are back at Fork River, in Carson country and it's great to be here. This is a cleverly written book with interesting characters and a plot that will keep you guessing until the end. The worldbuilding truly brings to mind a working ranch and open countryside. A great read.
