Freeing Lana

Rate this book
Lana Martin had a simple life, uncomplicated by the things that normally plagued her friends. But then terror struck and she found herself the unwilling plaything of a sexual deviant. Under his control, she is forced to endure things that would have crushed most people, but somehow she managed to stay alive long enough to be rescued and return to a normal life.

Only life would never be normal again for Lana, because she came out of the ordeal with an unsettling knowledge that she had never been truly happy before. The deeply terrifying events she had endured had done something she hadn’t expected; they had awakened something dark inside of her, a lust that could only be satisfied under the protection of a black hood. She found that only in that darkness, could she truly be free from her inhibitions.

When Daniel Morrow, the man who had held her captive is released from prison, Lana’s nightmare begins again, and she fears she will never be safe again. Her life, her future now relies on one man, the man she had once dismissed as unable to satisfy her longing, her former boyfriend Sergio Marsilis. Follow along with Lana as the darkness is awakened inside of her, and then as she searches for the one thing that has always eluded her, perfect sexual freedom.

Review:

Some books drill down into the deepest parts of us and make us examine how we ourselves would react to situations. This book was one of those. Lana Martin was taken, tortured and survived to live another day. Imagine yourself in her place. You have to survive so you learn to do things that would normally disgust you. But what if in the journey to survive, you found out hard truths about yourself that "normal" society called depraved or maladjusted. What if you began to crave the very thing that hurt you and degraded you? That is Lana's journey.

This book comes across in parts and can be a trigger for anyone who has endured domestic violence, kidnapping or abuse/rape. I myself have had experience with the painful reality of sexual violence and the words in this book were in some ways like a fun house mirror. We all have perceptions of ourselves and there is the image we show to the world. This book delves beyond the "nice" and forces your eyes to see.

The characters that surround Lana and the horrifying twist also gave me food for thought. Surviving abuse changes you. It effects how you see the world. Who you trust. Who and how you love. In short-everything. But what about the people who you touch? Does the abuse effect them? This book illustrates just how much it could. Would you learn to become a monster if it meant helping the one you loved? It is a provocative question.

Did I like the characters? Not always. No. The men in particular I wanted to go after with a large baseball bat, but that's just me. Sergio, the man that loves Lana, is an interesting person but like is not a word I would choose to gift him with. Lana I sympathize with and wish I could wrap her in a hug and tell her its okay to want what you want. We are not the sum of what has happened to us. We are how we climb back on our feet and keep on going, no matter what.

A heartfelt and provocative read.

Reading Freeing Lana is like driving on a cliffside dark and twisted road, with one headlight out, unsure of the destination, just knowing you’re there when you arrive.
After reading Lana’s Awakening (which is included in this book), the story went a direction I never saw coming. I don’t say this as a negative; it’s well written and captures your attention throughout. After finishing, I sat back and tried to assimilate all that happened. My best description of Freeing Lana: Hamartia. With its tragedy and flawed characters, this vague term fits perfectly. I won’t share any specifics to make my point, as I’m too afraid of giving something away with the many twists and turns the author navigates us through, but I will say there were a few points where I said aloud, “WTF?!” And this is coming from a reader who adores the dark and twisted :p
I winced a few times while whispering my incredulity of characters and situations, but I love when an author can do this to me!
I highly recommend this read for those who can see the beauty in a deeply flawed and dark character, because in this story, that is each and every one of them. I’m looking forward to further stories, as I find myself invested in where they go next, while fearing the depths of turpitude they’ll unearth.

Wow, I did not see that coming....
Talk about twist and turns....
Awesome Read!!!

Let me start by saying that if you read book one, Lana's Awakening, it is also included in this book (book 2).

At the end of book 1, we are left to wonder why would become of Sergio and Lana, as well as Tink and Lana.
Well we find out soon enough.

After everything that Lana has been through, she is now struggling to understand her feelings. She has wants and needs she wants to fulfill. Though she doesn't understand why and goes to least expected place for answers.

There are twists and turns. I was shocked and said WTF a few times out loud. I didn't see that ending coming. I love when I'm surprised and and everything changes. Trust me when I say, you will not see it coming.

This is a must read book. Add this to your TBR list.

Wow..what a journey!!! I loved loved loved this story!
Lana is living her life, when suddenly she finds herself in the hands of a crazy man, Daniel..she endures a lot, but what really stick, after being freed by the man we know as Tink,is that she enjoyed some of the things he did..and so her journey of self-discovery begins.
Sergio, Lana's former friend and now boyfriend, does everything he can to make Lana happy, even though he realize there something not right.
Tink is the police officer who freed Lana and now he keep checking on her with the pretence that it's his job.
Nothing is what it seems though and there are so many twists and turns..didn't see it coming, especially when it comes to Sergio.
If you are a lover of dark erotica just like I am..get this book!!!!

I want more! This was a wonderfully written follow-up to Lana's Awakening. This book had all the must haves for a great read: drama, sex, angst, and a strong heroine. All of your questions from the first book will be answered,as well as giving you plenty of wtf moments. Several times, I found myself putting the book down because of everything going on, only to pick it right back up because I had to know what was going to happen. Once I finished, I had to just sit and think about everything that I had just read. If you are looking for a hot as hell dark read, then I highly recommend this book, it will leave you highly satisfied,in need of a shower and wanting more.

This review only covers part three of Freeing Lana, since I had already written reviews for parts one and two. Please read parts one and two before reading this review.
This book was based off of real events, which really lends to the wtf factor. This book is also very dark, and again, based off real events. Someone lived through this. Just think about that.
Lana suffered a horrible tragedy, being kidnapped and sexually assaulted. That experience changed her forever. She turned into a sexual deviant, almost, really wanting to explore the darker side of sex. When her boyfriend, Sergio, wasn’t able to come to terms with that, and not be what she needed, she turned to the local police officer, known as Tink.
Tink was able to help her with her desires. He filled her in every way possible. She was happy. Until she found out that he knew something that he should have told her. That ruined her.
Meanwhile, we also have Sergio’s point of view. HOLY GOD Sergio changed, like 360 degree changed. He’s building sexual contraptions and really taking charge in the bedroom, just not with Lana. But he never really got over her.
I love dark books. I really do. Dark erotica is definitely my favorite genre to read. There was just one action that happened in this book where I put down my kindle, stared straight ahead, and said, “What. The. F**k.”
And as I said, the fact that it’s based on real events lends a lot to the reader’s experience. Things like this really happen to people.
Overall, I have to give this book four stars. While I loved it, there were just some things that I cringed at. Other than that, I loved it. I’m still trying to process this book, too and I finished it about three days ago.
Kristin Elyon has promised us more Sergio and Lana and I can’t wait!

This is the full novel of Lana's story. It includes part one which is her kidnapping and then the relationship with Sergio. The book then continues with the relationship of Tink and Lana. This book is very suspenseful and at times violent. It is not for the weak-hearted or someone searching for a happily ever after romance story. Lana's abduction is very dark and twisted. Daniel is definitely a sick and twisted individual. Sergio is trying to figure out who he really is for Lana. He starts off unsure of being Dominant and controlling and then goes through his own journey. Tink is keeping many secrets throughout the book. He wants to give Lana what she wants but is ultimately holding something back from her. Lana is confused by what Daniel has done to her. She wants to feel loved and protected but also craves a darkness that he seems to have created in her. Kristin Elyon has written a very intriguing and captivating story. She is not shy to use the violence to convey the feelings she wants her characters to embrace. The story has many twists and turns and is very suspenseful. Think of this story as Patterson-esque if you would. The book is well written and is fast paced enough that the reader gets through the story quickly. I enjoyed reading this book very much.

IF I COULD GIVE 4 1/2 STARS I WOULD! Freeing Lana comes with a great WARNING!! There is dubious consent, bondage, graphic violence, anal play and disturbing situations which are all secondary to a very well written story! The author Kristin Elyon takes you on a thrilling ride from the abduction in Lana's Awakening (a must read!) through the trials and tribulations of being saved by a hero, by a stalker, a lover or a friend?? We get to delve into the mind of the victim which is not always what it seems. Has the victim herself become a monster??? Actually no one in the story is what they seem!!! The ending of this book took me by surprise and I did not know whether I wanted to cheer, cry or throw my Kindle!! Actually I contacted the author and begged her for more hoping that we were not at the end of this journey!!! I am a fan of dark erotica and this book definitely fits into that genre and one to add to your bookshelf. I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. I will purchase this book as I did Lana's Awakening!

Whoa Sergio...

Wasn't expecting Sergio to step up to the plate like that but boy does he in all his Alpha glory. I loved the first book (which is included in this one) and the second was awesome as well. Though not as dark as the first, it definitely has its moments and there's a huge plot twist I didn't see coming. I knocked a star off bc there are some confusing moments where another girl is mentioned that seemingly has nothing to do with anything and only manages to confuse the reader. I reread the passage three times and still couldn't tell what the hell was going on and I hate loose ends like that. Other than that, well done.

Given ARC for my honest opinion.

After reading Lanas Awakening I was very excited to see where Freeing Lana would take me. I was not disappointed!

This is a darker read, but lucky for me I like variety and dark does not scare me away.

The best way I cam describe Freeing Lana is a love storu with twist and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved watching Lana grow through the book, and find who she really is and her happiness.

This book will not disappoint.

So if you love a little dark with your love story, then look no further.

What the hell did I just read?!?! Like other reviews, I have no idea where to begin. Daniel was truly a sick a $$hole. Did she not have family? Could she not get therapy afterwards? It seemed she was trying to deal with the after shocks on her own. and poor Sergio, he just wanted to love her but she wasn't the same woman after her abduction. Oh, freakin mind fuck with the officer/Tink and predator/Daniel connection. The level of police corruption in this story was suprising.

OMG, This book had me all over the place. I felt so bad for Lana. I thought Sergio lost his mind. had no clue the connection between Tink and Daniel. Did not see that coming at all. This was a great read, all the characters were interesting. Lana being kidnapped changed her and Sergio. What happened to her was crazy scary. I'm still just in awe about this book.
