Troublemaker is a collection of Bertha Henson’s columns from her blog, Bertha Harian, as well as the now defunct Breakfast Network. They represent her take on the news of the day, spanning political and social happenings in Singapore from the middle of 2012. Sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious, Bertha brings her own inimitable style to news commentary, raising questions and zooming in on issues that concern the citizenry.

About the author

Bertha Henson

Bertha Henson worked in the Singapore Press Holdings stable of newspapers for 26 years, her last designation being Associate Editor of The Straits Times, Singapore’s national broadsheet. In 2012, she left the organisation to start her own media consultancy, Newsmakers, and to teach at the National University of Singapore. She is Journalist-in-residence at Tembusu College in NUS. She started blogging at Bertha Harian the day after she left SPH employment and launched Breakfast Network, a semi-professional news and views website with friends and undergraduates in early 2013. The website closed its operations at the end of the year because she and fellow editors declined to meet registration requirements imposed by the Media Development Authority. She still blogs at Bertha Harian and The Middle Ground.

Didn't manage to finish all every column , skipped a chunk of the too "politics heavy" ones. Stopped around page 298 thereabouts.
Exceeded the loan and renewal period. Perhaps one day when I'm in the mood and out of reading material.

She is closer to mainstream views (no surprise given her long ties with ST) but obviously now less inhibited with big G's shadow to be more critical of both MSM and big G. Her blog is still good to follow for another view of the news.
