Neeko's quiet evening is interrupted when a fire-mage of the king's army comes to his door demanding hospitality for the night. She says war is beginning, but this becomes the least of Neeko's concerns when an altercation erupts between his drunken father and the fire-mage, resulting in his home burned to the ground with his father buried beneath the rubble.

His only justice? A redemption scroll—payment for damages if Neeko can bring it to the king's master of coin in the capital before it expires. With the war of two kingdoms clashing amid towns, the trek will be perilous, but having a hidden talent for magic, Neeko's not deterred. Especially so when he learns his recently acquired companion, possessing her own redemption scroll, knows the land better than anyone. She may have a few oddities, like singing her thoughts and stashing weapons in occupied graves, but Neeko would put up with worse to get to the capital in time.

Now if only Neeko knew what really awaited at the capital.

similar to other reviews, the main character is horrible. Unlike other reviews I think that this isnt that much different from the rhythm of rivalry series. all of the books Ive read have had incredibly simple and unrealistic character development and decision making. Basically all characters have the emotional development of a 5 year old. ie. irrational, unrealistic, or you just constantly are asking yours “wth?”

with that being said, the previous books were still tolerable and entertaining as long as you understood that. This books characters were just blatantly annoying and frustrating. The constant third person speaking and rhyming were just the final straw. I may buy the next book just because im invested in the storyline, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone else buy the book.

Fire Games was an interesting story within the world BT Narro had already created. The introduction of Pyforial Magic adds a new element and is the backbone for the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, thought the protagonist Neeko was slightly disappointing. A common theme in this book was Neeko not recognizing someone, and later it coming back to haunt him. I enjoyed the story, and especially Shara, but I definitely have hope for more as I continue this short trilogy.

An adventure for all

This story centers on two young mages: teenaged Neeko and his rhyming companion Shara. What I loved most about it was how the reader experiences the main characters' emotional evolution. Not only is there intrigue, magic, danger and wonder, but underlying this magnificent landscape are the concepts of truth, vengeance, trust, justice, loyalty and responsibility. This book made me think about how to define morality while it charmed me completely!

Can't stand the end

That evil would prevail makes me furious! However makes you want to read the next book and find out what happens.

Page Turner

BT Narro is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Since completing the Stalwart link series I have read his books nonstop. I am always sad when the book ends and sadder when the series concludes.

The main character isn't very bright but luckily he has a bright sidekick, a perfect partner to compliment where he is found lacking. The reason I rated 3 stars instead of more is because the main character makes utterly stupid decisions at times that are obviously stupid even before you get the benefit of hindsight.

I would have prefered a book where he had taken up the offer instead of offering himself up, and perhaps seeing the kingdom fall in the next book with perhaps battle in the next book in his new place. this choice however is a disaster train waiting to happen that is so obvious and annoying that it leaves me with a bitter after taste. Instead of looking forward to the next book, it has me wondering if i should just skip it for the third or just drop the series.

The books itself are actually nice, and the flow of the story is gripping, all that keeps me from rating higher is my immense irritation at the stupidity of choices of the main character which if one enjoys such would definitely make the book something to be recommended, if it was not for my personal annoyance at the way the book went, it would be worth 4 stars, but as it is, I've settled for 3

If you are a lover of fantasy, magic, action and adventure then you need to read Fire Games by B.T. Narro. This book is an excellent addition to your library in that genre.

I hated to take a break after I started reading Fire Games because the book grabbed my attention and held on tight. I really liked this author's storytelling style. He leaves no stone unturned as he develops his tale. I felt I was there during the story, smelling the smells and hearing the sounds. I love getting this involved in a story.

Once again B.T. Narro has developed a cast of characters that are both real and believable. After reading for a short while, I felt I knew each of them. It was easy to place myself into the story and feel at home with the characters.

I really enjoyed reading Fire Games by B. T. Narro and I highly recommend this book to all ages.

The main character is shit and uninteresting. He's also kind of an asshole and there are no redeeming qualities to him. He also seems kind of retarded. The plot and everything in it is extremely what you see is what you get. There is one surprise in this whole thing. Honestly, it's just boring. Really really boring and pitiful. At no point was I excited. The only thing I was interested in was the magic and that turned out to be lame as shit. If you're a fan of B.T. Narro, I'd recommend skipping this one. Only thing you're going to gain from it is frustration.

It was okay. Really. I just never got into it, like at all. The world and the characters remained bland and distant.

The main character is distinctly unlikable. The story line and actions of the characters seem forced and unbelievable. Did not finish

Finished book one...into #2 within the hour!

Truly an enjoyable start, as anticipated. Book two promises answers to questions ready to be asked. Took a break from my usual " followed" authors and after a few chapters in I could not connect to the first character,as it was a story that started with abuse. I enjoy diving into a story and feeling like I have met old family. B.T. Narro gives the reader's this kind of introduction, thank you.
