This made me understand so much more about PCOS and the consequences of PCOS on the body. It was explained very clearly and also gave a lot of practical tips for each and every type of PCOS and symptoms. It made me feel understood and gave me a clearer picture of what I can try to do to improve my hormones and my symptoms. A great read!
"To everyone woman who's been brushed off, misdiagnosed, or made to feel like she was the problem.
You deserved answers. You deserved support. You deserved someone who actually gave a damn.
This book is for you, for your healing, your power, and your comeback.
You were never the problem. But now, you've got a plan."
Wow! I have been following Drew Baird for some time as I've tried learning about my symptoms and to alleviate them. I often felt like there were no answers to my questions and no one who cared enough to help other than to "offer birth control and to come back when you want to get pregnant."
I appreciated this book. Baird provides a lot of indepth knowledge of PCOS by taking you through what it is, PCOS drivers, symptoms, natural solutions. supplements, sleep, exercise, hormones and more.
He shared various studies by naming them. I would have liked to see works cited for the research he mentions, but being honest, I probably would not going to go back and read the whole study and appreciate the Spark Notes version.
Baird provides a comprehensive starting point with how to get started to address your PCOS symptoms by addressing the drivers and suggestions for supplements to get you started. I really related to his analogy of trying to solve a puzzle without the picture to guide you to solve it.
If you've recently been diagnosed with PCOS or have had it for awhile and struggling to alleviate symptoms, I recommend this book. I wish this was here when I was first diagnosed, but glad it's here now.
Overall, this is a digestible read that makes you feel empowered and provides tangible strategies to try. He shares empathy through his words and breaks down the myths of PCOS making you feel seen, heard, and understood.
