A Deadly Photo. A Crooked Coroner. And a Killer Who’s Getting Too Close…
Lila Hartley thought life in Willow Creek was finally settling down, until two people close to her turned up dead within days. The cops say suicide. Lila knows better.
A mysterious photograph, unearthed from the ruins of the old City Hall, leads Lila straight into a storm of buried secrets and dangerous lies. With sharp-tongued bestie Zoe and her crime-sniffing cat Whiskers by her side, she follows the trail to the town’s most powerful—and most untouchable—man.
But he’s not the only one hiding something.
The town’s coroner has a file full of falsified reports and a past he’ll kill to protect. And when someone tries to run Lila off the road, she realizes this is more than a warning. It’s a stop digging or die trying.
The deeper she goes, the darker the truth becomes. And now, Lila’s not just solving a mystery. She’s fighting to survive it.

received an arc for this story. Lila Hartley has received a reputation as a detective and in this story it is no different. Librarian by day detective by night. When 3 teenagers suddenly die Lila gets started looking into their deaths as she doesn't think that they died by their own hand. She gets into trouble with the police, the mayor, and some of the special people in her town, but never stops looking for answers. Great story!
A chilling story as Lila, the town librarian and sleuth, investigates suspicious deaths of teens with input from her good friend Zoe, an investigative journalist. Deception, intrigue and tragedy come together in this story. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to others.
