Chase never wants to see Antonello again. His departure tanked the business the three of them had planned to start and hurt his sister deeply. Returning to Florence to help run the family business had felt like Antonello’s only option. He did his duty to his legacy, but he’s been second-guessing that decision since he got on the plane. Still, he didn't know what he could’ve had until it shows up on his doorstep....and it's not alone Take two men...one, a handsome American and the other a rich Italian, add one woman, who is the twin sister to the American, and you have trouble, looking for somewhere to happen. Antonello, Chase, and Chase’s twin, Elaine, were best friends in college. They were so close that they had decided to go into business together. Then Antonello is called...actually almost ordered, home to Italy. If you have been raised in an Italian household, you learn early on that you don't go against THE FAMILY! If they want you to come home, you just ask "when" and go buy a ticket. Meanwhile, Elaine has a baby. You have probably guessed who the father is already...but when she dies unexpectantly, Chase becomes the baby, Ricky’s, adopted father. A few years go by, and Chase is sent to Italy by his company for five months to oversee an important project and... fate rears its head again, and Chase finds that he's again working closely with Antonello. This turns out to not be a bad thing.
He was all ready to hate the man that he had once had a huge crush on...but Chase discovers that he simply...can’t. Especially when he really does understand why Antonello had to leave. However, there still feels that there's a lot to make up for. The two men begin to become closer, much closer, and Antonello realizes that he has been for a long time, hiding who he really is. He also knows that he needs to get out from under his mother’s dictatorial thumb. Of course, old habits are hard to break so doing this is not easy, especially when she discovers that the child...Ricky, is might actually be Antonello’s son.... her grandson.
These two men have to figure out how to live their lives together...with Ricky...and without bowing to the dictates of Antonello's mother. In spite of her, it's a wonderful story giving us a hot romance along with a satisfying, happy ending. I will buy and read anything that Andrew Grey writes...he is simply a wonderful author that can be counted on to always deliver, so it's not surprising that he's done it yet again!
Reviewed for Love Bytes – 4 hearts. When Chase’s job took him to Florence for five months, he didn't expect to be dealing directly with the man he’d loved for a lifetime, Antonello. He was also the man Chase gave up for his sister. Similarly, he didn’t expect the resemblance between Antonello and Chase’s adopted son to be so striking. Hello Goodbye Amore is a well-crafted, sweet story that I believe will appeal to a large and appreciative audience. This is where my reviewer hat and my reader hat conflict. When I picked up the story for review, I understood that a child was involved, but I didn’t realise how child-centric the story would be, and child-heavy tales aren’t my cup of tea. Therefore, going forward, I will strive to remain as objective as possible. The story is told in the third person from the viewpoints of Chase and Antonello. Technically, it is in super order. Also, worldbuilding was to my taste, with descriptions giving enough detail for me to form a picture in my head without being overly detailed. Florence is a beautiful place, and having read this tale, it is now on my holiday to-do list. Chase is juggling his job, a difficult boss, and his home life. Rightly so, the needs of his son, Rusty, are central to all his decisions. Chase is a wonderful, caring father to his deceased twin sister's son. Rusty is a sweet, enthusiastically demanding little boy who becomes a ray of light to everyone he meets. Chase has a protective support system in his mother, who was brilliant – I loved her. Antonello is heir to a jewellery empire that is diversifying. His background is steeped in tradition and familial expectation, which is what initially ripped him away from Chase and his sister. Since then, he has done a lot of growing up. Between work, family, friends, and little Rusty, there is some drama; however, this story feels somewhat predictable. Just when life was becoming more interesting, it seemed as though the ending was rushed, with some scenes I had been looking forward to, between the matriarchs and some extras with Lorenzo, being left out. This book was provided free in exchange for a fair and honest review for Love Bytes.
Once again Andrew Grey delivers a sweet and touching read and this one is set in Italy! I really enjoyed this book and found myself really rooting for Chase, Antonello and of course little Ricky right from the start.
Chase and Antonello, along with Chase’s twin sister Elaine were the best of friends in college, even making plans to go into business together after finishing school. Then Antonello is gone, back to Italy, leaving both Chase and Elaine broken hearted in the process. It’s a bit complicated here – Chase had a thing for Antonello but it seemed he had feelings for Elaine, but again one day he was gone, Elaine seems to start dating someone else and soon comes Ricky. But tragedy strikes again and Elaine is killed in an accident and Chase is raising Ricky as his son. Years later a work project has Chase traveling to Italy and of course working with Antonello’s family company – the one he left for. It’s definitely not a warm and fuzzy, meet cute reunion, but it’s clear that there’s still a whole lot of feelings between these two. For Chase at first it’s a lot of anger and for Antonello it’s revisiting feelings he’s been denying to try to honor his family legacy. But these two have to work together and start to rekindle the friendship (and maybe more) that was there. And then there’s sweet little Ricky, who happens to look exactly like Antonello!
Yes, there’s some drama but it’s a quick read so it’s not drawn out. It’s just enough to really keep the story moving and grab you – at least that’s what it did for me. I loved the connection between Chase and Antonello, even in the struggle moments. I also loved how Ricky brings them together, he’s so sweet and loving! It’s a sweet journey that these two have figuring things out – how they feel about each other and how to make it work when they finally get it all out there. These guys definitely deserve all the happiness and love and I loved seeing them find it together!
Take two men (one of whom is a rich, handsome Italian) and one woman (twin to the other man) and you have the makings of trouble. Antonello, Chase, and Chase’s twin sister Elaine are best friends in college. They’re so close, they decide to go into business together. Then Antonello gets called home by his family—and you do not go against family. Meanwhile, Elaine has a baby – yep, you guessed who the father is—but when she is killed in an accident, Chase becomes Ricky’s adopted father. Then his company sends him to Italy for five months to oversee a project and he is assigned to work with Antonello.
Ready to hate the man he once had a huge crush on, Chase discovers that he can’t. Especially when he understands why Antonello had to leave. But there is a lot to atone for. As the two become closer, Antonello realizes that he has been hiding who he really is and needs to break out from under his mother’s dictatorial thumb. But it’s not easy, especially when she discovers that the boy, Ricky, is Antonello’s son.
The two men have to figure out how to live their lives together with Ricky and without bowing to the dictates of the mothers.
A nice, hot romance with a satisfying HEA ending. Recommended.
The dialogue in the first chapter was SO awkward. Aside from the obvious expo dumps that could've been more naturally included, Chase's conversation with his co-worker was so very mechanical it was insane. Who talks like "Things at home aren't good right now. My youngest is having a very difficult time, and we are trying to get him the help he needs but I can't do that if I'm over there or of I take the entire family with me." with coworkers who you're not apparently close to? Why not just say "things are rough at home and my family needs me" without going into detail about super personal issues?
Super early DNF, but after getting Chase's history with Antonello expo dumped and yet another super awkward dialogue paragraph from Chase's coworker about what he should do regarding the Italy offer, I just knew this wouldn't be for me.
So Antonello sleeps with Chase’s twin sister Elaine, gets her pregnant and leaves both of them for “family” obligations. Never to contact them again. Elaine has a kid, Chase agrees to not let Antonello know or see the kid. She dies, Chase ends up going to Italy for work. He runs into Antonello and can’t keep his dick in his pants nor his promise to his sister. Ya, so its ok to sleep with your twin sister, and then bone you a few years later and get married? This is not HEA, this is just lust. Antonello will bow to family pressures, again. His mom, a year later is just cool to Chase and his sister’s son, which he abandoned.
Enjoyed the setting and the characters and their dilemmas, but the coincidences and switching of allegiances were purely for plot purposes and overly contrived.
Still some enjoyable aspects, as usual with Andrew Grey.
