Did not like Genevieve at ALL. She was the absolute worst. Loved Rowan and he deserved better. This is one of my fave authors and the only reason I finished the book. But it lacked big time. Genevieve was annoying and her blaming Rowan for everything got old.

I love M. James mafia books but I did not like Genevieve’s character. She was selfish, vein & unforgiving & blamed Rowan for everything. She always used men for money & blamed them for all her problems.
Rowan was a loveable rogue. He had tried to escape the mafia life but when his father was terminally ill he was called from Ireland back to NY as the heir to the NY Irish mafia to train to take over but his father has strict requirements to him getting the title & his inheritance.
This was a 3.5⭐️ read rounded up to 4.

I don’t expect perfect heroines, but neither do I want insufferable b*tches either. And unfortunately, the latter is what Genevieve was…right up until about 90% of the book.
The only reason I kept reading was because Rowan was a good guy, although I never could see why he loved a woman who kept snubbing every offer of kindness and friendship from him.
Rowan deserved much better than Genevieve, that’s for sure.

Badly written. Not interesting to read. Lacks sustenance. I wish the writers do a better job when they write a story for the readers.
