I hate obscure school rules. Especially the one that says siblings have to room together after a tragedy. Now I’m stuck sharing my dorm with my stepbrother, and I have no idea how either of us is going to make it to the end of the school year without offing the other.

Just as I’m getting used to having Felix around, someone else tries to off him, and now my cousins and I have to figure out who’s after him, and why. We might not like each other, but Felix is family, and that means he’s mine to protect.

Felix has always annoyed the hell out of me, but now he likes making me angry. And unlike most people, he isn’t afraid of me when I’m angry. There’s also something else between us. Something wild and addictive.

Something I’ve never felt before.

I’ve always known there’s more to my buttoned-up stepbrother than meets the eye, but it isn’t until we start a game of gay chicken that I realize just how similar we are.

He should know better than to start a game he can’t win, but if that’s what he wants, then game f*cking on, bro.

***Wicked Games is the first book in a new dark romance series set at an elite, invite-only college, and is an animosity to lovers story between stepbrothers who have more in common than they think. You can ex stepbrothers, animosity to lovers, a double bi-awakening, roommates/forced proximity, hurt/comfort, fighting as foreplay/mild primal play, dirty talk, bratting, their version of gay chicken, a protective MC, morally ambiguous heroes, not-so-secret societies, and lots of spicy times that should come with a warning label (and they do, so be sure to check the content warning before diving into this one) as these two stepbrothers realize that in some games, everyone’s a winner.

What can I say about myself? It’s kind of like being the new kid in school and being asked to tell everyone a bit about yourself. Anyone else forget everything they’ve ever liked, thought of, and even their name in those moments?

A few facts about me; I’m a veteran, I’m Canadian, and I love books! I’ve been writing my own stories since I was eight and wrote my first novel at sixteen. I’m the first to admit those attempts weren’t my best work, but they started me on a journey of creating stories that has led me to fulfilling my dream of becoming an author. I’ve written and published in several genres under different names, but MM is by far my favorite, and I’m so happy to be able to share my stories with people today.

I currently live on Canada’s east coast with my kiddo and my cats. I have a shoe collecting addiction, and I enjoy taking long walks, discussions with friends, and reading anything and everything I can get my hands on.

“Who were you dreaming about?” I can’t keep the demand out of my tone. “Tell me.” “You,” he chokes out.
“I was dreaming about you.”

TROPES:
❤️‍🔥 Stepbrothers
❤️‍🔥 Roommates
❤️‍🔥 Forced proximity
❤️‍🔥 Animosity to lovers
❤️‍🔥 Double queer awakening/GFY

Dark romance, morally grey characters, lots of steam, even more drama, all set in a elite private college? Sign me TF up.
I’ll admit, I didn’t have the highest hopes going in, because lately, I haven’t been enjoying Willow Dixon’s books. But, damn, this chance of scenery really worked for me. I gobbled this up.

“I hate you,” I grumble, letting my eyelids slip closed as another shiver of arousal rips through me. “No, you don’t.” He nips at my ear again. “You hate that you want me.”

The ‘super exclusive frat/society for stupidly rich kids’ setting wasn’t one I thought I’d enjoy, or even the shitload of drama, but these crazy boys just sucked me right in. I loved the hate-to-love, the fiery dynamic between Killian and Felix, the mystery storyline. AND THE SPICE? Absolutely filthy.

How the hell did we go from arguing about me leaving the room to Killian jerking off over me and using me as a cum sock?

Also, we get cute sleepwalking cuddling, Killian being very protective of what’s his, caretaking, and claiming and more cuddles to take away the nightmares. Killian is actually a sweet teddy bear under his bad boy facade.

“Tell me you didn’t love having my eyes on you while you got off for me. That you didn’t love when I came all over you.”

The build-up from hate-fucking to lovemaking was quite sudden, and I kind of wanted more of that initial tension between them even after they started getting frisky, but that’s really my only complaint. The rest was very fun and I can’t wait for the twins to get their book, because they seem perfectly unhinged.

“Just me?” “Just you.”

I don't know why I gaslighted myself into reading this book. All the other books I've read from this author have been mediocre at best.

This one was not terrible, it wasn't good either, it just was meh and, if I'm honest, a bit boring. There are a whole bunch of plot holes and random storylines that make it hard to understand how this book made it to 388 pages.

This is supposed to be a "dark romance" because one of the MCs, Killian, is super bad, you guys, you don't get it, his rage gets out of control, and he is so dangerous. Why is he so bad, you ask? Who knows. It is never explained; it's just alluded to that he and his cousins, who are a very bad imitation of the Mulvaney twins if I say so myself, are bad and powerful, and somehow kill and torture people, but we are never told why. Are they mafia, are they a cartel? I don't think even the author knows.

The other MC, Felix, is this tragic soul who is super depressed and friendless, and because of *plot reasons*, finds himself forced to share a room with his stepbrother. And he is not a new stepbrother, no, they have been family for 7 years or so, where there has been a lot of animosity that is never really explained.

Now, after all that time knowing each other and because they share a room, hate-sex happens, and all sorts of kinks are discovered. Then, after just 1 day, the big L word is dropped. When did these guys even have a chance to develop feelings? Who knows. It must have been alongside all the choking.

There is a sort of mystery happening at the same time, because someone wants to kill Felix, and I just gotta say, the resolution was weird and anticlimactic. And finally, for a book set around a university, not once did these guys go to classes; they just had random frat meetings and "secret society" business that made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

romance: 5 stars
story setup: 3 stars

So, let me begin by saying that Felix and Killian were fire! Their dynamic was totally hitting the right spot for me.

I thought finally having sex with him would cure me of my obsession, but it’s made it so much worse.

Bahaha, I’m sorry, but when did that ever help any of the characters in romance? *lol

The story itself was not what disappointed me, it was fine and I’m excited for more, but the setup for the story is what I had issues with. Felix’s mother is married to Killian’s dad, while Felix’s father had a new family as well. But the family dynamics were very vague if explained at all. And even by the end of the book we haven’t learned much about the past after his parents divorced, who these people were and how it all fit together. And second, same thing with that “secret society”. It’s all very hush hush, even for the reader, and somehow even the alumni (here meaning the dads) still seem involved in the society’s “business” — whatever that is. We practically learn nothing about that either.

I don’t like when I don’t have a solid setup and being kept in the dark. It doesn’t enhance the “mystery” for me, it only makes me feel like I’m missing something. I’m hoping for more in the future books which I’m really looking forward to despite my excitement about this first one being dimmed a tiny bit.

Oh my gosh, YES. When this author is on point, she's on point!

I might have taken a break from this author, but this brought my love back for her works tenfold.

I couldn't get enough of this and finished it within a day, I just didn't want to put it down and was enjoying every second of reading this.

This was was perhaps a bit Rina Kent-esque with this taking place at a fancy private college full of rich kids and all that, but also all these young people are connected to basically crime families. Not officially, but essentially that is what they all are.

Is it a bit OTT? Sure. But that's what makes it so damn fun!

Like I don't care about if it's realistic or not, as long as the romance and characters are good and boy did this deliver.

I loved Killian (what a perfect name for a crime boss's son and eventual crime boss himself) and Felix together, their chemistry was off the charts good from the get go, and I couldn't get enough of them together.

There was a bit of a push and pull at first, but they eventually fell so deeply into each other, and I lOVED it. I love badass, scary guys in fiction who fall head over heels for another and get so soft and sweet with them but ONLY them and no one else. Killian is best friends with his twin cousins, but he still doesn't get too personal or vulnerable with them. Felix is his one exception and I love that so much.

Felix was a mix of sweet and adorable but also fierce and ready to fight when needed, like a cat. (No wonder Killian calls him kitten 😉) He was soft and sweet underneath it all but also he was never really afraid of Killian and could throw some barbs right back at him. His fierce possessiveness matched Killian's possessiveness (which doesn't always happen in these stories, the more 'submissive' one not being as possessive) but Felix's did and I loved that. I love when the more dominant Alpha type of the two is the majorly possessive one, but I also love when they're equally possessive. Felix had claws and he wasn't afraid to use them at the thought of Killian with anyone else.

I HIGHLY recommend this one, especially if you're in for some hot possessive guys who melt around their love and no one else. And they have some pretty bad morals overall but not when it comes to their love.

Be prepared for some OTT-ness, but if you're fine with that and actually enjoy it from time to time, this is definitely for you.

I was so happy to dive back into this author with this one, it just checked all my boxes and I absolutely loved it! And I can't wait for Jax and Myles' story next (and also wonder who Jace's LI will be as well.)

I will wholeheartedly be seated for what's coming next in this series, and this one was a very strong start to this series.

Until the next one! 😘😍🥰

This author is super hit or miss for me so I totally went into this thinking I’d regret it but much to my surprise I loved it and couldn’t put it down. I did wish at times it was a bit darker since it has that secret society academia vibe going on but I ate this relationship up.

This is about stepbrothers and they are forced to share a dorm at their elite university after a family tragedy. They have never gotten along but each love to rile the other up. At some point this animosity turns physical then sexual and while those scenes were hot, I was living for the sweet cuddly moments I wasn’t expecting. I loved how Killian comforted Felix through his nightmares and became his number one protector. This boy was so growly and possessive over his “kitten” and while I usually hate that term of endearment it just worked in this book. I also loved the side characters and cannot wait to read their books which hasn’t happened to me in ages.

I’m not sure why this resonated so much with me because I know it’s not anything groundbreaking or new but I loved it so I’m rating it mostly on my enjoyment reading it rather than plot. Shit did get a bit OTT at times and some of it had me giving it side eye but I highly recommend it if you like angry broken boys, double bi-awakenings, hurt comfort and “touch him and die” type characters.

Should I be ashamed at how much I freakin' LOVED this? Absolutely! Am I? Not even a little bit! 😏 This was literary (not literally!) crack for me! 🥴🤤😜 Going straight onto my "Books to re-read" list. Oh, and identical twin cousins, Jace and Jax, are absolutely the best side characters in the history of ever ... AND they get their own books! 🥳 Let me stress, though ... PLEASE read the Author Note/Content Warning at the beginning and take it seriously ... this is definitely not for everyone. 🤨

I pull Felix against me and give him a soft kiss. “I missed you,” I whisper.
His eyes are shining with love and affection, and my heart squeezes in my chest. “I missed you too.” His smile is gentle. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Good. Now show me how much.” He bumps his hard dick against mine. I sweep him up in my arms, and he lets out the cutest squeal of surprise as I carry him over to the closest bed.
Three years ago I thought the worst thing that could happen was having Felix move into my dorm room. Turns out it was not only the start of the most real and intense love I’d ever imagined, but also when my life truly began.

*******

Felix gives me a shy smile that makes my chest warm, and I lean down so I can whisper in his ear. “I love you.” He tries to cover his grin with his hand, but the way his eyes light up at my words touches something deep inside of me. Pissing him off is fun as hell, but his smiles are everything.
“You two are so cute it’s actually disgusting,” Jax says with a smirk.
“For real,” Jace agrees. “Next we’re going to have to deal with them passing notes back and forth with just their names written in giant hearts.”
“Can you imagine them on the phone together?” Jax asks his brother. “It’ll take them an hour to say goodbye with all that ‘You hang up first, no you hang up first’ bullshit.”
“I’m out the minute they start wearing color-coordinated outfits and talking about getting a designer dog,” Jace says.
“Same when they start calling each other nauseating nicknames like snookerdoodle and huggybear,” Jax adds.
I flip the twins off and give Felix another kiss.

Wicked Games is an entertaining stepbrother romance featuring polar opposites Killian and Felix. These two are reluctant roommates, which lays the perfect foundation for both Killian and Felix to interact and where sparks fly. Killian is a brute force—demanding and controlling—while Felix is withdrawn and introverted. Their differing personalities create many intense and primal moments that start one way and then veer off in a completely unexpected direction.

Overall, this was a surprising and enjoyable stepbrother romance filled with steamy moments between the two, complemented by an overarching mystery that kept me guessing. I also loved the introduction of Killian's cousins Jace and Jax; they are both mischievous and entertaining to watch. I can't wait to see more from these characters and this intriguing world. It was a delightful experience.

I had fun ish with this one—it was chaotic, dramatic, toxic, and definitely hot. There’s something entertaining about a story that leans into the mess, and this one does that full-force. But I also found myself thinking… I’ve read this before?

We’ve got stepbrothers, roommates, forced proximity, hate that doesn’t have a clear reason, a little bi awakening, hate sex, and characters who blur the lines between pain and pleasure. There’s also that familiar “college boys dabbling in dark mafia business” vibe.

I struggled a bit to connect. There wasn’t much character development, and I didn’t feel like I really got to know either MC. For a college romance, the school aspect was almost nonexistent, and i dont even know what are they studing. The “secret society” angle felt underexplored—meetings and sex parties…what “business” did they do? And they killed people and daddy made the clean up?

And the villain… I kept hoping the slow buildup was leading to something intense or surprising, but it honestly fell flat for me. It felt like the tension just fizzled out instead of delivering a real payoff, which was a bit disappointing.

The spice definitely delivered—there were moments I genuinely feared for Felix’s soreness, not gonna lie. Their dynamic was intense, possessive, and a bit overwhelming at times, and while their love and connection seemed to come out of nowhere, it still had its charm. What really stood out to me were the softer moments—the cuddling, the quiet care. That non-sexual intimacy, like Killian looking after Felix or the way they held each other, was honestly my favorite part. Those glimpses of vulnerability and sweetness gave the story a tenderness I really appreciated.

Overall, it was a fun ride, even if it didn’t fully click for me emotionally. I’m still curious to see what’s coming next in this world—there’s definitely potential here.

GAH! This is deliciously filthy, I'm clutching my pearls😂 yet I can't look away. Bratty brat and big bad baddie. Books like this are my dirty little secret😎
This book carries a certain thrill that excites my younger heart. The darkness in the story has a light to it and there are manipulations that happen that make you feel like you're back in school with all the feelings and wonder and drama attached. Killian is a cold giant with a soft heart hidden pretty deep within and Felix is heartbreakingly terrorized by his ghosts and the danger he is in. The attraction blooming between them is both a surprise and a powerhouse of lust that they both give in to.
This goes on my likeyouhateme-dirtylove-godoffury list🔥🤗🌈✨

reread on August 15,2025 in preparation to read book two.👍

Felix + Killian 🖤
Stepbrothers | Bratting | Marking | "Kitten" | Mystery

Definitely different from Willow's normal work but still has her signature banter and humor. There were parts that were pretty OTT and felt somewhat forced but overall I enjoyed their story.

Also seemed like she just got suck of writing sex scenes towards the end because the last 25-30% was closed door.

....

“Men are so easy to manipulate. You just have to dangle food or fucking in front of them.”

“What do you say, little brother? You gonna be a good boy, or are you going to learn that bad boys get punished?”

“There you go, kitten. Show big brother exactly what you want,” he says, his lips still next to my ear. “I hate you,” I grumble, letting my eyelids slip closed as another shiver of arousal rips through me. “No, you don’t.” He nips at my ear again. “You hate that you want me.”

"I thought finally having sex with him would cure me of my obsession, but it’s made it so much worse. I don’t just want him; it’s like I need him, and I’m going crazy even thinking about him with anyone else."

“You’re making it really hard to be a gentleman right now,” he rasps, his lips next to my ear. “What if I don’t want you to be one?” I nuzzle my cheek against his hand. “What if I want you to be my big, bad stepbrother right now?” He groans as I suck his thumb into my mouth and curl my tongue around it. “Be careful what you wish for, little brother.”

“Why should I keep fighting when I have nothing to fight for?” He finally meets my eyes, and two trails appear on his cheeks as his tears finally fall. “Why should I stay in a world that doesn’t want me? Why should I fight to keep living when being alive is killing me? I don’t want to die, but I can’t keep living like this. I can’t.”

“I love you,” he whispers. “You’re the only person I’ve ever loved.”

....

Loved it. This is book one in the new Silvercrest U series, and what a way to start it off. Killian and Felix’s story had me hooked from chapter one and I couldn’t put it down. Wicked Games had so many of my favorite tropes, forced proximity, stepbrothers, hurt/comfort and animosity to lovers. I had a lot of fun reading this one and I’m already excited about the next book.

I really wanted to like this book—I truly did, maybe all the 4-5 stars review gave me a lot of expectations. The premise had so much potential: stepbrothers, a secret society, mafia ties, and what could’ve been a twisty ride. Unfortunately, the execution just didn’t work for me.

By around the 7% mark, one of the main characters was already gushing about how much he loved pushing the other’s buttons and how addicted he was to his reactions. *Cue the eye roll*. I admit, I’m not a fan of insta-love so I was already with a negative attitude towards this book pretty early, but I can tolerate it when it's well-written or delivered in a fun, fresh way. I even give fated mates a pass because, hey, at least there’s a supernatural excuse. But here? Two guys getting attached at lightning speed with barely any depth or foundation? It felt shallow and rushed.

The secret society angle had promise, but the author didn’t really do anything with it. It ended up being more of a decorative backdrop than an integral part of the plot. The story itself felt scattered—like it couldn’t decide what it wanted to be. It gave off strong “wannabe Rina Kent” vibes, and I’m not a fan of Rina Kent to begin with (I do like her mm books tho)

The romance? It just didn’t land. It felt more like lust wearing a thin disguise of emotional connection. There wasn’t enough substance to believe in their bond. Everything moved way too quickly.

In short, this book might work for readers who enjoy fast-burn romances and don’t mind suspending disbelief *a lot*. If insta-love is your jam and you’re not too fussed about plot coherence, this might be a fun ride. For me, though, it was a miss.

2.5 ⭐ rounded up, probably out of guilt, but we're not going to think too hard about that.

Oh boy! This book is getting a lot of great reviews. That's wonderful. That's fantastic. That's also wildly confusing, because working my way through this book felt like I was battling my way through the trenches.

I hate giving ARCs a bad review, but this was just... bad. Shockingly, comically bad. I spent almost the whole book laughing out loud, not because it was successfully funny, but because I couldn't believe how terrible some of the writing was. My secondhand embarrassment was real. Physical. Painful. Not every book I go into needs to be a literary masterpiece, but this book felt like the bad fanfiction I'd read back when we were still calling smut lemons. If I took a shot for every time one MC called the other by his pet name, I'd be dead not even 70% of the way through.

However... I enjoyed myself? Bad. Very bad. Genuinely disappointed, because I've enjoyed this author plenty before. But this book is just the right amount of trashy slop that I like to settle down with, laugh at, and forget everything else for a day. The characters (when they weren't making me put the book down because I'd cringe too hard) aren't all that bad. They're excessive and sometimes feel more like tropes cobbled together instead of real people, but come 400 pages, I was a little fond of everyone. And the sex...? The sex was actually pretty good, lmao 😂 Can't knock that one.

Was this bad? Yes. Did I have fun, and am I probably going to read the sequel? Also yes.

This was really fantastic! I need more of this series like yesterday.

This author is usually a win for me, but occasionally there's a miss. I am so happy that that wasn't the case with this book. Everything about this book was right up my alley. I loved the moody school atmosphere and secret society vibe. I do wish we could have learned a bit more about the history of it though and what exactly they do now.

I loved Killian and Felix and their snarky interactions at first. How they just sort of fell into this new dynamic and just went with it. I also loved the twins interactions with Felix. This book had a bit of drama and a bit of mystery.

Honestly, I really wish this had been a little bit longer.

I always enjoy an Willow Dixon book, but I think that Wicked Games is my favourite one yet - it literally has all my favourite tropes and then some!

Wicked Games is the first book in a new dark romance series, Silvercrest U, set at an elite, invite-only college, with a different relationship featured each time. This is Felix and Killian's story and what a fabulous one to start the series! Make sure you read the author notes before you start, because there are some dark themes.

I absolutely loved the relationship drama, the twins were hilarious (and a bit menacing) and there was a mystery storyline too!

Can't wait for Jax's story in Hide and Seek.

This whole thing was way over the top and pretty ridiculous, especially the plot. However, it was also super hot (like damn!) and I had a great time reading and breezed through the book in half a day.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it but I also wouldn't not recommend it. I certainly enjoyed it and will definitely be reading book two.

this is 🔥

I am HERE for this unhinged dark romance - trauma, obsession, forbidden love, and power plays. There’s also some sweet moments there too.

It’s all on from page one. This book is like a wild, dark, and emotionally chaotic rollercoaster!

Felix’s dad, stepmother and half siblings were killed in a car accident. Felix was never given a chance to be part of the family though. Why?? He’s in survival mode, but why? Why is he being judged and hated ?

We meet Killian, his twin cousins /besties Jace and Jax and annoying clinger girlfriend, Gold Digger Barbie. . Hes in a Frat, the Rebels and it’s the most powerful fraternity on campus . It’s exclusive.

The twins and I are in agreement that Kill here needs to get rid of the girlfriend.

Felix and Killian are stepbrothers and the university has some sort of weird rule that they need to room together after a trauma? Huh?

Ahh so Felix and his Bestie Eden are person non grata on campus , thanks to their stepbrothers.

Someone tries to kill Felix in a pool , wtf?

Killian is all like we are family, you’re mine and I protect what is mine. Does he also have a concussion?

“I didn’t choose this, and I don’t want you here, but you are. That means you’re mine, and I always defend what’s mine.”

Killian finds out his girlfriend is cheating on him and he’s raging at being played. He’s this close to taking it out on Felix.

‘What the fuck is wrong with me that having my stepbrother put hands on me feels good?’

Asphyxiation sexy times occur.

“What do you think they’d say if they knew you didn’t just let your stepbrother get you off while choking you out, but you fucking loved it?”

Now that was a hot scene .

Felix has some trauma from almost being killed amongst other things and is already on heavy medication that treats insomnia and anxiety. He also has pretty severe nightmares.

Felix climbing into Killian’s bed because he thought he was his childhood teddy bear leads to more sexual tension and sexy times .

Is this one sided trauma bonding ?

Felix is almost run over by a car.

Not sure why he’s been targeted. Although ….Felix is super rich now , like 10 figure rich, with the death of his family and his stepmother’s family didn’t get anything or any financial gain. Hmm

Does ten figures make him a billionaire?

Felix is feeling pretty jealous over newly single Killian.

Killian is possessive, jealous, and protective of Felix —but also confusing as hell. Felix is emotionally raw and vulnerable.

‘Maybe it’s the whole forbidden stepbrother thing, or maybe it’s the forced proximity of being roommates that’s making me forget that this whole thing was supposed to be a game. Or maybe I’m just a slut like he says, and he’s the one who happened to unlock my kinks. Who the fuck knows.’

Sexy times. Felix loses his ass virginity.

There’s a white night party at the dorms, Killian wants Felix to stay in their room and goes as far as locking him in.

Felix has a secret hobby, picking locks 😂, so he gets out.

‘I don’t understand it, but I feel possessive of him. I don’t want him to look at anyone else like he looks at me, and I don’t want him to touch anyone else.’

Oh haha , I just realised … I don’t think they’ve even kissed and we are halfway through the book. I guess that’s a bit too lovey-dovey, a bit too romantic. 🤷🏻‍♀️

At the party, Felix is attacked and forced fed drugs. By William . Ugh he’s such a douche . Molly and dick pills.

Killian and the twins rescue Felix and sort William out. Killian and Felix have sexy times.

Felix, Killian , Jace, Jax and Xave are driving home for Thanksgiving when the road is blocked by a fallen tree, and a shooter is on the loose. Felix’s would be killer.

“I love you,” he whispers. “You’re the only person I’ve ever loved.” I press a kiss against his hair. “You’re the only person I’ve ever loved too.”

Felix’s mother is not motherly at all. She’s gold digger trash who married her best friends husband , Killians dad, while he is grieving his wife’s death.

I am also now thinking she is the one who wants Felix dad because hello she will inherit his money .

I was wrong.

‘I thought the worst thing that could happen was having Felix move into my dorm room. Turns out it was not only the start of the most real and intense love I’d ever imagined, but also when my life truly began.’

Tropes: stepbrothers, roommates, forced proximity, dislike to love, hurt/comfort
Feels: 3.25/5
Steam*: 3/5
Kinks: dub con, dominance, punishment, cum play, marking, degradation, breath play, bratting
Angst: medium
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content warnings/representation: double bi awakening, violence, murder, grief, death of family, suicidal ideation by MC, near drowning, forced drugging, drug use, unsafe sex
Cheating between MCs: No
Any cheating: Yes. Killian had a gf at the beginning. She cheated on him and mentally to him they were over as soon as he found out, but he delayed officially dumping her. During that time he started hooking up with Felix, so technically he cheated back but he'd already stopped sleeping with her when Felix became his roommate.
Other person drama: Besides Killian starting out with a gf, neither of them were interested in anyone else during the book. Felix was jealous at times, unfounded though

4 stars

Felix is 19. Killian is 20. They have known each other since they were 10 years old, and they have been stepbrothers for 6 years. They haven't ever got along. Felix's mom married Killian's dad. They are both from wealthy families. Felix's dad, stepmother, and half siblings passed away in a car accident. Felix is forced to room with Killian at college, because the boarding school college thanks family should be together after a tragedy. Neither are excited about it. Both identify as straight, and have never been with a guy. Killian starts off the book with a girlfriend of 3 months, who he's really not that into, he's just using her to fill time and scare away other girls. She's been cheating on him though, so that ends quick. Someone tries to kill Felix more than once, and that triggers Killian to be protective of him and Killian uses his frat/secret society connections and his cousins help to investigate the threat. As Felix and Killian spend more time together, their combative dynamic turns into sexual games they play with each other. Is it just sex though?

This was a pretty enjoyable book. I liked the dynamic between Felix and Killian. I liked the dislike and the combativeness, and how they slipped into hooking up during emotionally charged moments and they both naturally wanted more. I liked the protectiveness Killian displayed, how he was so concerned about Felix and intent on keeping him safe. I liked how possessive Killian was and how he enjoyed marking Felix and claiming him. Felix was sexually submissive, but he was still independent, strong willed, and gave as good as he got. There was good banter and humour sprinkled amongst some serious topics. I liked how Felix and Killian slept better together, and snuggled even before they were open about having feelings for each other.

There were some moments that annoyed me. Felix and Killian did not communicate well, they had frustrating college boy level communication. I could not believe that Killian was so chill about telling his regular f*** buddy at this point Felix that he was going to a massive orgy at the secret society, and Felix had to stay locked in his room while Killian went. Killian didn't do anything there. Killian and his cousins were kind of unbelievable as these dark characters who were capable of murder, violence, and outwitting criminals and enemies. They came off a little frat boy-esque and not the most believable of characters, and also a bit misogynistic and like they were looking down on others. Not as likable as they could have been.

I am interested to read other characters stories though. It's just me or are they setting up Eden and Jordan as an MF couple? Is this author going to do an MF book?

Some notable moments:

Jace and Jax are fun "Jace: see if you can grab me a few. What’s he on? Please tell me it’s quaaludes. Those are amazeballs Killian: not quaaludes. Ativan and ambien Jax: together? He’s either really stupid or really fucked up Jace: two things can be true Jace: grab me some Ambien, that shit is fun Jax: do you remember what you did the last time you were on it? Jace: nope and that’s part of the fun Jax: I remember, and it was only fun for one of us Jace: grab my brother some too so he can relax enough to yank that giant stick out of his ass"

I am weak for snuggling. "“You’re telling me you weren’t hopped up on Ambien last night?” He winces and scrubs a hand through his messy hair. “You figured that out?” “It wasn’t hard after you climbed into my bed and insisted on snuggling with me.” His jaw drops like it was unhinged, and I laugh. “I snuggled you?” he croaks. “Yup. Aggressively so."

They are so hot for each other. "I land on my hands and knees, my arms shaking as static appears in my vision from the sudden influx of oxygenated blood rushing to my brain. This part feels almost as good as my orgasm, and it takes a second to realize that Killian is still behind me. I look over my shoulder, my mind and my vision hazy. I expect to see him judging me for how easily he took me apart. Instead he’s staring at my ass and working his dick like it owes him money."

"“I broke up with Natalie.” “Bro.” Jax backhands me in the chest. “You didn’t think to lead with that?” “Thank fuck,” Jace says. “When did this gloriousness happen?” “Just before I came up here.” “How’d you go from banging your stepbro to dumping Gold Digger Barbie in the forty-five minutes it took you to get your ass up here?” Jace asks. “It was kind of a two birds, one stone situation.” “Huh?” Jax asks. “She walked in on us just as I was about to nut in Felix’s mouth.” Jace throws back his head and cackles. “Fuckin’ A.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

Ok. I actually am surprised but I really loved this book. The plot was good, the pace moved pretty fast and it had a very satisfying conclusion.

Felix rooms with his stepbrother, Killian..chaos ensues.

The chemistry these two had was 💨💨💨🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn 🤯🤯

When I first read the blurb, I was very meh. This book is nothing like the blurb thank god because gay chicken is just ewww. There’s nothing wrong with being gay and gay chicken implies that there is which is highly inappropriate.

The taboo aspect of brothers is not even that big of a deal either. I like how both were mature enough with their queer awakening. No freak outs. It was refreshing. There is a bit of misogyny but that’s pretty typical of women authors writing mm. They can’t seem to help themselves.

Anyway… I was pleasantly surprised on how much I loved these characters. So much so I’m going to read book 2…

2 stars

This makes me so upset to give this two stars because the plot sounded really interesting but the execution fell so flat. The first like 20% actually had me really intrigued, but after that 📉📉

My biggest complaint is they didn’t kiss until 63% in. And I love a good slow burn, but they already hooked up like 10 times before they kissed. Call me dramatic oh well I guess I’m picky like that.

And there were so many different plot lines that’s didn’t even make sense. Like William drugging Felix, them getting shot at, Felix almost drowning, and then the one that made me most upset was Felix almost stabbing himself but it wasn’t even touched on after the fact. And I didn’t even know Felix was depressed or suicidal until that moment. I couldn’t tell you one thing about these characters other than they are stepbrothers and hate each other for no apparent reason.

“I didn’t choose this, and I don’t want you here, but you are. That means you’re mine, and I always defend what’s mine.”

The drama, tension, chemistry, spice, found family aspect, the characters… this was so good!!!! This author is usually a hit or miss for me, and I only discovered this series recently, but when I read the tropes and blurb, I knew I had to read it immediately and I definitely don’t regret that decision. I absolutely loved it! it was so addictive that if I didn’t have to sleep, I would’ve finished it in one sitting.

The plot was really entertaining. I mean, was it possible? Maybe. Was it dramatic and over the top? Hell yeah, and I loved it. I also loved that there was a good balance between the romance/spice and the plot. There was room for both in a way that didn’t feel like the plot was forgotten once the romantic side started or that the spice took over the whole rest of the book.

I don’t know why, but in every book I’ve read that has a character named Felix, he always ends up being so freaking cute and it was no different in this one. Felix was adorable, sweet, and so, so cute, but he was also fiery, kind of sassy, and I loved that he didn’t let anyone walk over him. He gave as good as he got, and man, I loved him. There’s just something about an MMC named Felix that makes me feel protective, and I love that the other characters in the book felt the same.

“I thought finally having sex with him would cure me of my obsession, but it’s made it so much worse. I don’t just want him; it’s like I need him, and I’m going crazy even thinking about him with anyone else.”

“Don’t you dare wash me off until we get home,” he says in a low voice that only I can hear. “Understood?”
“Yeah.” I give him my own little smirk-smile. “As long as you don’t even think about washing me off until we’re back home. Understood?”
He looks shocked for a second, then grins. “Understood.”

“Killian pulls his softening cock out of my mouth and takes a step back. Deliberately, I swallow the last of him. “You taste good, big brother.”

“Slut,” he says in that same, slightly affectionate tone from earlier. “Only for you,” I repeat

I will always love a possessive man, but what truly gets me is when the angry, kinda violent, and dangerous MMC starts to absolutely melt for the other MMC. I love that. And Killian was exactly like that. He’s a powerful, dangerous man, and seeing him let out this other side of himself — being sweet, caring, and so in love — was everything. I could feel how his feelings grew with every interaction with Felix, and yeah, I’m obsessed. His storyline seemed to revolve more around his relationship with Felix, so I don’t know if I could ask for much more depth from him. His family life actually seemed good, and I was pleasantly surprised by his father and the support he showed. I totally expected his dad to be cold or mean, but he actually cared, and I really liked that.

“I want to see every second of your pleasure. You know why?”
“Why?” He’s stroking himself hard and fast now
“Because it’s mine. Your pleasure, your orgasm, it all belongs to me.” He shudders and lets out a desperate whine as he starts working his dick again. “Come on, kitten. Show your big brother how good it feels. Show me what’s mine.”

“Felix gives me a shy smile that makes my chest warm, and I lean down so I can whisper in his ear. “I love you.” He tries to cover his grin with his hand, but the way his eyes light up at my words touches something deep inside of me. Pissing him off is fun as hell, but his smiles are everything.

“Who’s ass is this?” I growl in his ear and shove one finger inside him.
“Yours! It’s yours,” he cries desperately.
“Fucking right it is.” I shove a second finger in with the first. “Who do you belong to?”
“You,” he practically sobs and squeezes around my fingers. “Only you.”

“I like being your family,” he whispers drowsily.
“I like being your family too,” I whisper back, my chest squeezing with something I can’t place. It’s a sort of longing that has nothing to do with wanting his body and everything to do with wanting all of him.”

Felix and Killian’s relationship was incredible from the start. The tension and their chemistry were so, so good, and they were insanely hot together. I love their dynamic, I love how everything started, and I absolutely love how it ended. From how their relationship began, I thought the romance part would be minimal, and even though the sex between them was still kinky and not soft at all, with every interaction their relationship became more caring and full of feelings. I loved seeing that change happen, how much more involved and connected they became. I have to say, “Kitten” is one of those endearments I usually don’t like, but somehow in this one I absolutely melted for it. And the cuddling so Felix could sleep... yeah, I loved that too. They had some cute and soft moments, and combined with their hot moments, they just made me fall in love with them even more. I love them together so much.

“Come on, kitten.”
“Don’t call me that.” He pulls the sheets tighter around him.
“You had no problem when I called you a slut, but you draw the line at kitten?” I arch one eyebrow at him. He flushes an even deeper red.”

“I hate you,” I grumble, letting my eyelids slip closed as another shiver of arousal rips through me.
“No, you don’t.” He nips at my ear again. “You hate that you want me. You hate that I’m the only person who makes you feel this way,” he continues. His free hand clamps down on my other ass cheek as he locks me in place. “But you don’t hate me.”

“Do you believe that I love you?” He nods, and I don’t miss the way his jaw works as another tear slides down his cheek. “Then do you believe me when I say you’ll never have to fight alone again? That I’ll be there to fight with you when you need someone, and for you when it’s too much?”

I have to talk about the twins because I’m obsessed with them. I absolutely adored them in this book, so I can’t even imagine how hopeful I’ll feel when I get to their books. Their brotherly relationship with Killian, the way the three of them protected each other and shared so much trust—it was perfect. But what I loved most was how protective and caring they were with Felix. The way they treated him was so freaking cute, I loved it. I really hope we get to see more of the twins and Felix together in their books.

This book was a good way to start the new month, and I’m so excited to read the next two books in the series.

“Three years ago I thought the worst thing that could happen was having Felix move into my dorm room. Turns out it was not only the start of the most real and intense love I’d ever imagined, but also when my life truly began.”

Quotes worth mentioning:

“Things aren’t like that with Felix, and nothing about what we’re doing makes any damn sense. I’m not bi, but I’m attracted to him. I have no interest in hooking up with men, but I can’t get enough of him. I don’t do repeats, but the thought of never being with him again fills me with a weird sense of rage.”

"Make him pay, then make me pay"
Wicked Games by Willow Dixon

OH. MY. GOSH. Willow has officially entered her dark era, and I AM OBSESSED. I love when an author decides to take things darker, and Willow did not disappoint. Don’t worry, though, it’s not pitch black dark. Think sexy charcoal gray, just enough edge to have you hooked, but not so dark you’ll be hiding under your covers. Suspenseful? Absolutely. Deliciously so. Bratty tension, enemies to lovers heat, and the moment they finally snap and give in to each other? Perfection.

And Killian… that filthy mouth on him? I was blushing, swooning, giggling, kicking my feet, the whole thing. The minute he started calling Felix Kitten, I was GONE.

The setup? Chef’s kiss. Felix, poor Felix, has been unwanted since Killian’s family became his family. Killian and his twin cousins (who I LOVED, by the way) have made his life miserable. And Felix’s mom? Trash. No notes. But things get wild when Felix is forced to share a dorm room at Silver Crest, with none other than Killian himself. Their hate ignites. Instant tension. But then, plot twist, someone tries to kill Felix. Suddenly, Killian’s animosity flips into fierce protectiveness, and oh boy… that’s when things get GOOD.

Forced proximity? ✔️ One bed? ✔️ Two beds? ✔️ Possessiveness that should be a red flag in real life but is HOT in fiction? ✔️✔️✔️

Felix, my sweet, I wanted to reach into the book and hug you myself, but now you’ve got Killian and the twins to hold you, protect you, and keep you safe. And honestly? I couldn’t be happier about it.

This is such a good start to Willow’s new series, and I cannot wait to see how much darker she takes it from here. If you’re someone who’s been curious about dipping your toes into dark romance but feel nervous about going full dark, THIS is the perfect place to start. Suspenseful, spicy, but not scary. Just right.

I’m hooked. Bring on book two!

Cute couple but too much going on

I read the whole book and there was so many different parts to the story it just felt too much whilst also leaving some aspects unfinished and not in a way that would be carried into the next book.

I liked Felix and Killian together they were cute but it all seemed to just happen rather than build.

Jace and Jax were probably the star characters in this book. They were hilarious. A taboo MMMM would have been epic but it wouldn't have worked due to how possessive Killian is.

I'd have liked to see what happened with Felix's mum as well. I had high hopes for this after loving the Crimson Club series but I'm not sure I'll continue this one. Maybe I'll try the mechanics instead.

This was a fun read- it was everything you’d expect from a hostile to lovers / stepbrother / college romance. Normally I can’t do books where the MCs are mean to each other, but the animosity towards one another didn’t last too long in this one. And the spice was fun! I’m excited to get to the twins books.

This was actually so fun—the ending was just too rushed and anticlimactic for my liking. 4⭐️ 3.5🌶️

Killian & Felix’s story is low angst with plenty of steam and spice but there is also a plot here! The boys have never gotten along and after a tragedy, Felix is forced by their school to move into his stepbrother’s frat house…did I mention his room as well, for the sake of healing and mental wellness?? As tensions brew, we learn someone is trying to unalive Felix. For what? That’s the question. When Killian gets word of this, he doesn’t like it one bit. Whether he can’t stand Felix or not, he’s family which makes him his—and he protects what is his. The story revolves around Killian, his twin cousins, and Felix trying to navigate why someone is trying to ☠️ Felix, and the best ways they can keep him safe. Meanwhile, Killian & Felix are also giving in to their unexpected feelings and passion for one another and let me tell you, the spice was SPICING. I really enjoyed their story. I’m so excited for Jax’s story & I just know I’ll be feral when Jace’s story comes out next month. 🖤

I like Willow Dixon, I’ve read and enjoyed their books in the past but frankly this was not good.

The book is missing so many details about the main MCs that it’s quite hilarious. Killian, Jax and Jace are the big bad but of what? We’re never told, what do their dads do? Why are they like assassins at 20 years old? They’re doing “business” all the time but literally what is it?! They’re also in a secret society and we know and hear so little about it that it’s totally unnecessary to the book. The “Rebels” seemingly do drugs, have orgies, are tough on security and are feared but we never find out why.

Another author deciding to make their MCs mafia but then put them in college. This really reads like a Rina Kent story, I mean there’s so many similarities; characters, relationships, scenes are interchangeable.

The stalking/murder plot line wasn’t surprising at all, in the beginning Jace tells Jax and Killian about how Felix will get controlling shares in the company and be worth 10 figures when his grandpa dies. These guys are supposedly so smart but no one assumed the uncle would be extremely angry about this? And then there’s an added grandfather assassination attempt slipped into the end, to make the uncle even more scary. It’s ridiculous.

It also introduced a theme I’m not a huge fan of and that’s “we’re in love and your mental health is healed”. Felix is struggling a ton for a majority of this book but it all ends when they fall in love and then he gets more attention and affection from the twins and Killian and all is right. A lot of authors do this and it’s just completely wrong.

Felix and Killian fell in love fast and hard and then everything I found appealing about them was gone. They went from tough and struggling to sweet, lovey and everything was wrapped into a perfect bow.

One final huge annoyance; the author uses “two things can be true” 4 separate times in this book, it was silly. And a smaller annoyance was the use of “brother” constantly when they were having sex, it was a little off putting. I don’t mind stepbrothers but I’m not a fan of pushing the “brother” incest line.

Wicked Games
Willow Dixon
Silvercrest U Book 1

Killian & Felix
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶

Hurt / Comfort
Not-so-secret societies
Stepbrothers
Bi-awakening
“Kitten” & “Princess”

So thankful to receive an arc of this book.

Killian and Felix are forced to room together on Campus when Felix's father, stepmother, and 2 step-siblings tragically pass away in a car accident.

Killian along with his cousins are members of the Rebels, a powerful fraternity that gains membership to powerful and exclusive circles all over the world

These boys are so angsty. Step Brothers for the last 6 years. Felix antagonizes Killian while Killian doesn't know why his usual alpha hole behavior doesn't work on Felix

“I’ve known Killian for almost a decade, and he’s always been volatile and easy to set off. I’ve gotten damn good at pushing his buttons over the years, and making him angry enough that he resorts to childish insults and vague threats is one of the few things in this world that gives me real pleasure.

Felix is attacked one night while late night swimming and Killian takes it as a threat to him because, of course, Felix is “his” 🥵 so naturally the threat is against him

These two are hot 🔥 angsty but also sweet too. The caretaking. The breakfast foods and snacks, the broth! 🫠 iykyk

The plot continues with Killian and his twin cousins Jax and Jace, trying to solve who is attempting to harm Felix

I love how protective Killian and the twins are of Felix. There is a huge found-family aspect that is so needed. Felix has had it rough in his family and home life.

“Three years ago I thought the worst thing that could happen was having Felix move into my dorm room. Turns out it was not only the start of the most real and intense love I’d ever imagined, but also when my life truly began.”

They bring out the tenderness and vulnerability in each other while also being kinky 😏 😳 😜 😉

“Thank you for giving me the best D I’ve ever had, big brother.”

“Come on, kitten,” I urge when he pauses. “Show big brother how you like it.”

The plot was great. Kept me guessing and on my toes.

Killian was great. I did not expect the sweetness care and concern he showed. I loved these two together.

Super hot and fun.

The support from Killian's dad was great.

Honorable mention to Killian's dad :

“You divorce spouses, not children. He will always be my stepson regardless of whether I’m married to his mother.”

This was so great
I enjoyed it
I'm honestly looking forward to the next book in the series

so thankful for this arc

This one was so good!! I’m so excited it’s the first of this series so I’m so excited to get more from it! Felix just has my heart but Killian makes me mad and pant all at the same time! Their dynamic was explosive and I’m totally here for it. You’ve got enemies to lovers, hurt/comfort and force proximity makes for an amazing story. I definitely recommend reading it!!
