Taya
Orphan. Assassin. A force of nature.
Taya clawed her way to the top, securing her place among the most feared players in the underworld. Fierce and untouchable, she thrives in a world that never cared if she survived. The same allies who helped her rise are tightening their grip. Staying free might cost her everything, including secrets best left buried.
An unexpected bond forces her to face emotions she never wanted: Trust. Friendship. Maybe even devotion. If she’s reckless enough to reach for them.
Taya would sooner dismantle the system than let it control her.

Maxim
Bratva enforcer. A man built for battle.
Maxim has fought in the trenches, but the real war has always been in his mind. With his sister tying the Galkins to the Pakhan, he has no choice but to obey, even as the protector in him rages at what he’s forced to witness.
Danger doesn’t scare him. He is danger. Until Taya appears, turning his world upside down.
She might be the answer to questions he never dared to ask. Yet the same side of the coin can’t exist as one.
He’ll watch her destroy his world just to see her break the chains meant to hold her.

In the darkness of their world, can anything real survive?

One of Them By Lina Beck

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

First off holy nuggets! This was literally one of the best mafia romances I have read in a whileeeee! 🖤👀 Lina’s writing style is impeccable and she truly knows how to captivate you with her words!

🤭😍One of Them made me feel all the emotions and then some, it was truly an emotional roller coaster but I was along for the ride the entire 6 hours it took me to read this book!😍🤭

🖤Taya is one bad a** bxtch, stunning, feisty, and talks sh*t with the best of them! She went from a fragile caterpillar and transformed into a gorgeous death hawk moth with the world at her disposal! She met some amazing friends along the way, but her issue is figuring out who she can truly trust in the chaotic world she lives in! And then he came along. 🖤

😈Maxim is the epitome of chaos in the best way possible, he’s anger and loneliness, but he’s also confident and straight forward always speaking what’s on his mind with no restraint! His sister got involved even when he tried everything to keep her away from the life, but maybe that was a good thing because it brought her into his life! 😈

👀When chaos meets chaos usually you run away, but with them, I ran straight to them! The characters in this book were truly captivating and the growth in book 1 was incredible! This book is part of a series and I truly can’t wait to see how the rest plays out! I’m honestly a bit sad as I have to wait for the next book to release and this one is still in the arc phase so I’m gonna have to wait a good bit 😂🥹 But it is truly worth the read, especially if you love a good hot headed, witty and feisty mafia romance with tons of tension!! 🤪👀

One of Them is more than a mafia romance, its about belonging, standing up for yourself, and found family. That doesn’t mean to say we don’t get some great action and spice along the way. Taya has been living and surviving on her own since she was 13 when her mother gave her a backpack full of secrets and told her to run. She meets Ilya when she saves his life and he “asks” her to work for him. They come to an agreement that she’ll work for him but only if she can stay independent and not become a part of the Bratva family. Taya becomes an assassin for hire and builds a reputation for herself. Ilya announces he is going to marry and he wants Taya to be a witness and maid of honor for his bride Alisa. She even helps plan the wedding, making her first female friend with Alisa. Taya meets Alisa’s brothers and sparks fly between her and Maxim. Taya’s background was heartbreaking so it was great to see her make friends and a family of her own. Maxim was unhinged in the best way and proud of it. Their back and forth created an angsty but a fun slow burn. The spice was explicit but more plot driven. There were great twists and a huge wtf moment that outraged me on Taya’s behalf. I would describe this as mafia light, but there are dark elements so be sure to check the trigger warnings. The timeline and how long time has passed was difficult to follow. This is a well written debut novel and the characters were developed and compelling. Lina Beck’s words will draw you in and have you turning the page to see what happens next. This does end on a HFN and sets up book two featuring a new couple.

Thank you to Lina Beck for the privilege to read an advanced copy of One of Them.

ARC Review

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

🤍Feminine RAGE
🤍Dual POV
🤍Assassin FMC & Bratva Enforcer MMC
🤍Touch her & I’ll watch her k*ll you
🤍Age Gap

"One of Them" by Lina Beck is hands-down one of the best dark romance books I’ve read in a long time. The passion, danger, and a lead female character who is unapologetically powerful…YES PLS!

Taya is the kind of heroine that sticks with you long after the last page. Raised in seclusion by her mother, she's never fully understood the reason behind her isolated upbringing. But when she's forced to face the world on her own, Taya begins to uncover her true purpose, one that’s darker, deeper, and far more dangerous than she ever expected. She’s not just a survivor; she’s a weapon. An orphan turned assassin, Taya claws her way to the top through sheer determination, skill, and ferocity. Her strength isn’t just physical it’s emotional and mental, and watching her transformation is incredibly satisfying.

Then there's Maxim. A Bratva enforcer with a smoldering presence and a steel-hard edge, Maxim doesn’t try to control Taya, he respects her power and adds fuel to her fire. Their relationship is intense, raw, and filled with the kind of chemistry that practically burns through the page. He challenges her, supports her, and never once tries to dim her light. Instead, he helps her become even more dangerous and more herself.

Lina Beck blends dark romance and action seamlessly, crafting a story that's as empowering as it is addicting. If you love stories where a fierce woman takes control of her destiny and finds someone equally powerful to stand by her side then One of Them belongs on your bookshelf or added to your TBR!!

Taya was forced to bury the life she knew at just thirteen. From orphan to feared assassin, she carved her place in a world of dangerous and ruthless people. But now, the same allies who helped her rise want to tighten their grip. And Taya? She’d rather burn it all down than be caged.

Maxim is a Bratva enforcer—dangerous and ruthless. Until Taya appears, turning his world upside down.

In the darkness of their world, can anything real survive?

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀…

I really enjoyed this story!!

Taya is an incredible character. I loved watching her journey and how fiercely independent, strong, and unapologetically herself she is. It was so beautiful to see the bonds she built throughout the book, and the found family dynamic completely stole my heart.

The chemistry between Taya and Maxim had me hooked! I loved watching their connection grow naturally. And Maxim? I adored him.
He never tried to change her—he let her be exactly who she is, and stood beside her as her equal. That dynamic? Chef’s kiss.

This book is plot-heavy, with a fast pace and a strong storyline that pulled me in right away. It’s easy to read.
While the spice isn’t the main focus, the steamy scenes? So well written. They’re definitely staying rent-free in my mind 🤭

One of Them is a story about a fearless woman in a man’s world, finding someone just as powerful to stand beside her—not above her. The development, the tension… it all worked so well.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this ARC! I’m already dying to read the next book. Enzo and Alisa? I need their story now!!

I loved this book, it was such a fun and thrilling read. We start with a lot of prologues but don’t let that throw you off because it’s really important to the story. When I realised this was kind of a love triangle, I was skeptical, but it was also really obvious who she would end up with, and later in the book, Malek is quite… Let's just say he or Ilya are not who you thought they were. But it is a mafia romance so there’s got to be some betrayal right? But this does set off the rest of the plot. Before that it was mostly about Maxim and Taya feeling that attraction and getting pulled into each other, while they try to figure out Alinas wedding. But after that little plot twist in the middle, which by the way shocked me to the core, the whole plot escalates. It was so exciting and had me on my toes. It does end with a “happy for now”, because there are more books coming up but focusing on other couples. Which I am really excited for! I loved most of the characters but I loved Taya the most. Because she is the perfect example of how to write a strong fmc, in lots of dark romance, he helps her solve the problem or they solve it together. But here this girlboss basically solved it herself. Not the biggest fan of the “incapable of love” trope but I’ll tolerate it because she’s just amazing in general. I loved Maxim too, he’s your obsessed kind of psychotic mmc. I loved this and give it a 4/5

One of Them - A Dark Mafia Romance by Lina Beck is book 1 of the Beyond Ties series. This is Lina Becks debut novel and as stated in the title, there are many dark elements and if you are familiar with the Dark Mafia Romance genre then you know this comes with lots of trigger warnings. Make sure you are taking care of yourself and read that list.

Taya is our FMC and she is the ultimate badass. She is one of the best assassins, she’s not tied down to anyone in the underworld but is loyal to those she considers friends. After the Pakhan announces his arranged marriage, she is asked to be a witness aka maid of honor. Although surprised, she won’t say no to the bride to be. She’ll be right next to the bride’s hot but kinda crazy brother Maxim.

Maxim, our morally black MMC, the Bratva’s enforcer. He never considered himself to care for much. He’s a protector and he lives to protect his family which consists of his 2 brothers, his sister, sister in law and parents. Since his parents have retired he and his brothers have stepped up in the Bratva and now with his sister being engaged to the Pakhan there’s not much he won’t do to keep them protected. He also cannot stop his curiosity and attraction to the gorgeous assassin that everyone respects and low key fears.

I loved this book! But I also really love Dark Mafia Romance, so when I read one that is as good as this it just makes me an instant fan. You would never know that this book is Lina Beck’s debut novel because it’s written so great. Maxim is such an intense man and scary to all but his family. He brings some comedic energy also which is something I appreciate. Taya, her story is so interesting and the plot twists ( yes there are more than one) made me gasp each time. No joke. This is a HFN (happy for now) and although it doesn’t technically end on a cliffhanger, the epilogue prepares you for the next book in the series…which I cannot wait to read!!!

I received an ARC for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“If it’s a demonstration you desire, i’ll gladly be your last vision.”

Where do I start?!
I don’t even know.
This book. It had all the ingredients to be perfect.
And i was wholly on vibe with story and reading it was a very pleasure.
I even buddy read it and we had good conversations about the book.
And the story itself was very captivating. I felt the heat the anger the desperation.

But with that all in mind there were some things that had me like very confused.
I was NOT upset about but it sort of got me out of the story while reading.
Like there were 5 Prologues, in my mind that’s just way too much and most of it could’ve easily been done in flashbacks. Because I get why they were added in you do need the information it gives you for the story.

“I was free to pick like a kid in a candy store, and this club was the headquarters of Haribo.”

Between the main characters I felt the heat I felt the attraction, however I did not feel romance or love. I don’t even know when it was supposed to have happened in the story. I did feel this more between two other characters, who I think will come a book too. So it does make me like intrigued to continue this series.

Beside that it’s supposed to be age gap but we don’t know the age of the male main character.
At one point he says i joined the Bratva at 16 which is 2 decades and then some ago. So you have like a guess that he is 36 at the least. (But his character felt like a boy not a man).
Besides that I find it very confusing as to what the time line of the book is. Taya once says she is 23 but at the end of the book she is mid twenties. So is the book over 2 years? Because I did not get that vibe.

I still enjoyed this read. I liked this book and I loved the writing the story is there the concept too.
I am just a bit of a nitpicker.
And I do really want to read more of her. Because with time you grow and I can’t wait to see that growth in this author.

Well, I was not expecting that!! A dark mafia romance that really did have me in the edge of my seat with those plot twists!

This book was truly captivating. Hard to review without giving away spoilers but trust me when I say the plot be plottin! Taya is the true meaning of femme fatale - an orphan turned assassin whose life was suddenly turned upside down when her mother had to send her off with a backpack of secrets to determine her fate. The first few chapters are all prologues - which is confusing at first but stick with it - but once you get past those to the nitty gritty of the story unfolding it will make sense. I personally feel like those prologues could have been done in a flashback way to add a little more mystery in, but nevertheless they are important!

I loved seeing Taya create friendships and family despite her shitty background. Her bond with Ilya was really well developed and I loved her friendship with Alisa building too.

Maxim and Taya’s back and forth sparring was definitely an angsty little slow burn and I loved that! He’s not one to sugarcoat his words and I loved how that added to the simmering tension and drama. He’s a bit chaotic but that just adds to his raw personality and their chemistry! He’s hard and intense yet never tries to dull her fire which I loved because the world needs more fiery driven characters like Taya! The spice was definitely red hot between them and totally worth the slow burn!

For a debut novel this one was a stunner - well written, well thought through and great character and development. I did get confused in the timeline of this one but not so much so that it left me baffled at the end. Overall this one is definitely worth a read if you love powerful, take no prisoners FMCs who make it their life’s mission to be a force of nature and plots that will have you desperate for more. Looking forward to book two to see what else Lina has in store!

Can we just talk about how badly I want to be one of them? This story told by Lina Beck SPOKE to me, I wasn’t just reading a book. This story demanded my attention from page 1, and screamed at me to read it.
Let me introduce the characters, our FMC is Taya: who is one the one the strongest most badass fmc’s I have read. She’s a woman who stands her ground and fights for herself and for those she cares for. She’s not a woman to overlook, even though many do. I admire the character for the fact that she’s a woman who rose in ranks of the criminal underworld and demanded equality from the heads of the families. She worked with different syndicates such as the bravata, the mafia and the jungle. It’s a new way for that angle to be explored and it was so much fun reading it. Taya had secrets, and friends that she fought tooth and nail for and will continue to do so.
NOW! The MMC Maxim is the bravata enforcer. He may seem to be exactly what you think when you read that - but I promise as you read on he will catch you by surprise. In this world, the rule is barvata first everything else comes second. Not to Maxim, not to his amazing family and definitely not Taya. Maxim worked his way past her shields, and stood with her through thick and thin- even at the risk of everything. This love isn’t toxic to me. It was fought for. Instead of trying to chain Taya, or lock her in a tower he doesn’t hold her back. He observes and cheers her on even with her chaos, madness, bloody hands and all.

ARC Review: One Of Them by Lina Beck
If you're into Dark Mafia Romance this book deserves to be at the top of your TBR list! @authorlinabeck knows how to grab you in and never let you go even at the end of the book
This book is not for the faint of heart. Taya is an unapologetic force of nature a ruthless assassin with a heart encased in ice. From the first page, the tension between her and Maxim crackles, blending dangerous desire with a volatile mix of loyalty and betrayal.
The plot? Edge of your seat at all times The world building pulls you in, making every twist and turn feel both inevitable and thrilling. But what really made me fall for this story was how Taya's cold exterior masks a heart torn between survival and something more. Maxim is as captivating as he is ruthless, and their chemistry? Guess you'll have to read to find out
The dark Italian guy let's just say you'll have a hard time letting go of him even after the final page I know I did
If you're into dark mafia romance where the stakes are life and death and emotions are weapons this book is your next obsession. Every page hits you hard, and it's impossible to look away.

“What if I don’t have enough to give?”
“What if you have everything?”

Stoppppp why did it have to end there! That cliffhanger should be illegal! I’m in desperate need of more! The plot twist had me gasping out loud and I just need more. Taya is a complete and total bad ass like I mean the baddest there is! She’s so cool and takes nothing from anyone even those considered more powerful than her, she knew her worth and never let anyone truly cage her. I never knew where everything was heading but the outcome was WILD! Maxim is the epitome of big D energy and I love him, he’s such a goof and so unserious when he feels like it, both him and Taya are perfect for each other and they match how unhinged the other is. I love how we came to love the side characters as well and see the found family that Taya created for herself especially Enzo and Alisa (she’s such a sweetheart). Oh also Enzo is my favorite character, he needs to be protected at all costs and I love him so much. I need book 2 ASAP PLEASEEEEEE

This book has everything! It is probably one of the best mafia romance I have read in a while. I was drawn in from page one. From the love story, the found family, the secrets and even betrayal, the book sucks you in. I love the friendships that were made in this book, some you wouldn’t expect.

Taya journey from a young age shaped her in to one hell of a woman. From her growing up an orphan to make herself in to a weapon and not need anyone to protect her.

Maxim is the Bratva enforcer. He the protector, who will do anything for his family and once he loves.

Taya and Maxim are absolutely perfect for each other. She a bada** who doesn’t want to be owned in their world. Maxim is supportive of who she wants to be but also will protect her at all cost. The chemistry was there from the start and I can’t wait to see more.

I cannot wait for book two!

I received a copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review. All opinions are my own.

This was a great mafia romance. I loved the whole cast of characters, both main and side characters. I read the entire book in one sitting because I was just that drawn into the world. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Taya grow throughout the book, and I'm excited to see her continue to grow in the series. I also loved Maxim. He is the exact kind of personality you would expect from a mafia enforcer, but I loved him. Their relationship doesn’t feel rushed, and I loved watching it develop. I also adored the friendship between Taya and Alisa; I love well-done friendships between women in books. This book also sets up the next book in the series so well. It gives you characters you would love to see more of, and what I know will be a great plot.

i loved that she was an assassin, i honestly love that aspect when it’s a woman cause they are just so bad ass 🤣 it a breathe of fresh air to see such a strong woman from the get go 😮‍💨
i loved the prologue style, normally it’s just a little chapter but i loved the multiple prologues from different ages so we could kinda see right away how Taya was shaped right away!

This book was more plot than spice, but was such a great read. The progression of Taya, child turned orphan turned trained assassin for the Bratva. Her journey was amazing to read. I loved every second of it. And how her soul and chaos matched Maxims, they are amazingly perfect for each other. I loved his protectiveness and obsessiveness he had of Taya so early into their meeting of each other. 💕🩷

One of Them by Lina Beck is a dark romance that hits all the right notes. The raw passion, the suspenseful danger, and a female protagonist who stands her ground in the most empowering way, absolutely captivating!

This book is a total rollercoaster! It’s definitely one of the most captivating mafia romances I’ve come across recently. The intrigue starts right from the first page, drawing you into a world of love, loyalty, secrets, and betrayal. The unexpected friendships that form throughout the story were a highlight for me, they really added something special to the plot.

Taya’s past, shaped by years of solitude and hardship, forged her into an unstoppable force. Raised as an orphan with no one to rely on but herself, she was molded into a weapon, cold, calculated, and self-sufficient. Her mother’s secretive isolation left her with more questions than answers, but as she’s pushed into the world, Taya begins to discover the dark purpose that was always hidden from her. She isn’t just surviving; she’s a master of survival, an assassin with unmatched skill. Every step of her journey is a testament to her unbreakable will, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Watching Taya rise from a vulnerable girl into a fierce, untouchable woman is a transformation you won’t forget.

Maxim is a force to be reckoned with as the Bratva enforcer. Fiercely protective of those he holds dear, he’s a man of few words and even fewer weaknesses. What sets him apart is his unshakable respect for Taya, he never tries to overpower her, but instead feeds her strength, making her even more unstoppable. Their relationship is built on mutual respect and raw attraction, igniting a connection that’s as fiery as it is fierce. Maxim doesn’t seek to change Taya; he helps her sharpen her edge, pushing her to be even more lethal and unapologetically herself.

The connection between these two is pure chaos, yet they fit together perfectly. They push each other to grow while always having each other’s backs. I thoroughly enjoyed this read! It’s fast-paced, full of twists, and the chemistry between the main characters is on point.

🖤Are you ready for it?🖤

Shiiiiit. In the best way. BEST WAY.

This book will keep you hooked. It's a Dark Mafia Romance that has so much drama, secrets, and trauma.

The FMC is a BOSS BITCH. She's perfection. The amount of trauma and growth she goes through is well-written. I love to see a strong woman who can rescue herself.

The MMC... Well, you know when a man in a book shoves someone against a wall and then a hand necklace appears and you sit there like 🥵👀 so you read it again to make sure that's what happened. Then after the 5th time of making sure you're like 🥵🫣yeah. That's how I picture this man.

He's unhinged and says whatever he wants. They match.

Speaking of spice, I would rate it a 🌶🌶🌶. It's well-written but doesn't go too far in detail. That being said, none of it takes away from the story.

When I thought there would be plot holes, Lina Beck was like "nope not my book, just be patient and it will all connect" (she didn't actually say that, but the book is proof enough)

I did like getting some background in the beginning. It helps set the story for you.

The number of times I sat here trying to guess what was next was so funny.

*Me, sitting by myself while my husband thinks I'm going crazy*

Anyway. Each character has a purpose. Usually, side characters bother me because I never understand why they're there or what purpose they bring to the story.

Well, each character has a purpose.

Don't miss out on this story that brings you to a different take on the Mafia world.

Raised in isolation by a mother with too many secrets, Taya has never known the full truth about who she is—or what she was meant to become. But when the safety net is ripped away, she doesn’t fall. She fights. What follows is a gripping, high-stakes journey as she discovers not only the shadows of her past, but the brutal, extraordinary power of her present.

This heroine is lethal in every sense of the word. An orphan turned assassin, her climb to the top is a masterclass in grit, intelligence, and unapologetic strength. She’s not just a badass for the sake of it—her emotional and psychological resilience make her transformation utterly compelling. Watching her take control of her life and future is just *chef’s kiss* satisfying.

Then there’s the Maxim. A Bratva enforcer with a quiet storm vibe, he doesn't try to tame her or change her. Their chemistry is undeniable and together, they’re a dangerous, magnetic force.

I adored the side characters! And as someone who loves a good found family arc, watching Taya, the former lone wolf open herself up to connection made my heart ache in the best way, especially her growing friendship with Alisa and her deepening bond with an Enzo - who is probably my favourite character!

The writing style is unique—direct, gritty, and vividly descriptive in a way that feels raw and real. It's not polished in a traditional sense, but it suits the story and character's internal monologue.

A fast-paced ride that delivers on the plot, mafia-vibes, danger, depth, and a heroine who is so much more than her scars. That cliffhanger? I knew it was coming but I still was not prepared.

Thank you Lina Beck for the ARC - I am now patiently waiting for book two!!!

I got an ARC of this book and though it wasn’t a personal favorite, I do think it’s a good introduction to mafia romance for readers new to the genre. It’s a fast-paced read with a compelling storyline that stayed evolving throughout. The story follows Taya, a badass assassin living life unapologetically and on her own terms. I really loved how independent her character was - she was never boring to read about and she had good character development throughout the story.

That said, I would’ve loved to see more of her in action. A huge part of her character is focused on how she’s a skilled and feared assassin, but there’s only one scene showcasing her abilities in action and personally, with how the scene ended, I don’t think it did her justice.

I occasionally struggled to track the timeline because some of the writing was lacking in description and the time jumps didn’t always flow well. The lack of description also made it hard to visualize the scenes at times. The slow burn had so much potential, but ultimately the build up was better than the fire itself. There’s one scene in particular that I thought was going to be very fun and spicy, but it kind of just ended abruptly.

Even though this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me, I think others might really enjoy it. If you’re looking for a quick, easy read with a fierce female lead or if you need a pallet cleanser and want to try a new genre, this one is for you! The storyline is captivating enough that I will still check out book two so I can see where the characters end up. 🖤

Look I am a woman who loves dark romance, it’s my most read genre but one of my favourite things to read about in this genre is a woman who is not afraid to bite back and that is exactly what we get with Taya. We see her growth from the very early chapters, she once was this fragile girl who transformed into a feisty, ruthless woman👏🏼

This universe is most definitely a dog eats dog world, it is difficult to trust anyone at the risk of being betrayed, and while Taya did make some close acquaintances along her journey she was hesitant to fully trust anyone (as she should) until she comes face to face with Maxim👀

Maxim is a bratva enforcer and one thing that really stuck with me about him was that he never tried to smother Taya’s flame, he only empowered her more and wanted her to be the powerful person that she shaped herself to be.

These two together are chaos, but they are the pieces to each others puzzles. These challenge one another while also having each others back👏🏼

Overall I loved this book it was fast paced, intriguing plot and good chemistry between our main characters.

Lastly, congratulations to the author on their debut book and I look forward to reading more books in the future.

Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

“Depends,”
“On what?”
“How long it takes to get my fill of you.”
“What if it’s years?”
“Then I pray I have many to come.”

Sexy, fierce and dangerous, the best words I can use to describe this book💋🫦🦋

🌶️🌶️🌶️

The plot not only works beautifully throughout the story, is consistent and engaging, but the characters have more chemistry than the atomic table - making this read even more enjoyable. Every sentence serves a purpose, every line of dialogue aids in the world building.
You are instantly captivated into the life of Taya, her need for found family as well as revenge.

While the plot twist didn’t shake my entire world and make me gasp, it did have me kicking my feet and “whooping” into the air with a closed fist. Every emotion this book tries to convey, Lina does so effortlessly.

What an absolutely incredible debut novel.
(Not to mention the end! I’d read it all over again just for that)

🌙Multi pov, 🌙found family, 🌙spice and everything nice. I recommend this book to any Mafia romance reader, and any woman with some attitude.

Okay first of all, despite the star rating, I really enjoyed reading Lina Beck’s One of Them. I love a kickass FMC who doesn’t need saving and the character of Maxim? Yes, please.

In such a dark world, these two find each other and somehow complement each other so well like puzzle pieces meant to just fit.

If you’re a fan of Dark Mafia, this would be a good read for sure. My only caveat and I really have to put it out there is this could do with a better book cover as well as chapter images. What’s here really feels like a disconnect once you read the story. It does this book a disservice in my opinion.

It sounds nitpicky but I really won’t read it if I judged the book by its cover and it’s very jolting to go through the chapter images/font because it breaks the mood.

That said, if you can ignore that and love Dark Mafia romances, do check this out.

Tropes:

Age-gap (not in a creepy way!), feminine rage, assassin FMC & Bratva MMC, found family, plot & spice, fast-paced, and more.

If you are looking for a new dark mafia romance, look no further.

After being orphaned at a young age, Taya spends her teen years learning and preparing to defend herself so she doesn't have to rely on anyone but finds herself sucked into the life she is trying to avoid. But what she finds there is more then she anticipated in Maxim, a quiet but dangerous Bratva enforcer, and his family.

Taya is one of the strongest FMC's I've read in awhile. Maxim has the perfect amount of protective and brody, mixed with being supportive and allowing Taya to handle herself.

The book is fast paced, but does not skim on the plot. The plot twists keep coming and keep you engaged the entire time. You find yourself equally drawn to the substories and supporting characters (I ADORE Enzo and Alisa).

And the END. Thankfully, there is a book 2!

First thank you to Lina Beck for the opportunity to receive an arc of your debut novel.

This was such a great dark mafia romance. This book had passion, danger, spice, and a bada$$ fmc who can literally kill you if you cross her.

I love a strong fmc and Taya certainly delivered. In a world dominated by powerful men, Taya wants to live by her own rules, not ruled by power or greed, or the men who want to control her.

Maxim is a born and bred Bratva Enforcer who is fiercely protective of the ones he cares about.

Taya and Maxim together had a great chemistry. Both powerful and dangerous on their own, together they make an unstoppable couple. Unlike the other men in Taya’s life, Maxim doesn’t want to control her but instead respects her and her abilities and strengthens her will to fight for what she believes in. Maxim challenges her and supports her in a way no one ever has and encourages her to lean into who she is.

There is a perfect blend of dark romance, action, suspense and spice to keep the reader engaged and wanting more.

What a great debut novel! I’m so excited to see what happens in the rest of this series.

A gripping start to the Beyond Ties series! 💕

Lina tells the story with just the right mix of suspense and emotion, introducing characters that feel both real and complex. Taya's resilience and fierce determination make her an instantly likable heroine, while Maxim’s brooding intensity and mysterious past add just the right edge. Their chemistry simmers beneath every scene, creating tension that’s both emotional and electric.

What I loved most was how Lina didn't shy away from the darker sides of grief, identity, and trust. The slow unraveling of secrets kept me on edge, and the world-building was sharp and grounded. This book gave me everything I crave in a romantic suspense: high stakes, powerful emotions, and characters who feel like they could walk right off the page. This book got even better than the last time I read it with the beta copy, I’m already counting down the days for book two!

Told with gripping suspense and raw emotion, One of Them had me hooked from page one. Every character introduced has a purpose—no filler, no fluff—just layers of intrigue and darkness that keep unraveling.

Taya is the definition of a resilient, fierce FMC. Instead of being broken by her past or trapped by her present, she takes fate by the horns and chooses her future. I felt every ounce of her strength and pain.

Then there’s Maxim. Intense doesn’t even cover it. He doesn’t try to control her—he meets her fire with his own. Their chemistry? You couldn’t slice through it with a steak knife. It’s emotional, it’s explosive, it’s everything.

Lina Beck built a world that’s dark, deep, and twisted with secrets and schemes—I’m obsessed. This book gave me everything I crave in a dark romance. And that CLIFFHANGER?? Why would you do me like that, Lina?? 😭

Book 2 can’t come fast enough. I’m READY.

I received this book as an arc.

I.loved.this.book. !!!

This is the perfect dark romance/suspense combination! Be sure to read trigger warnings as it is a dark mafia romance. Heavy on the dark. My only complaint here is there are too many prologues for my liking. They could have been incorporated bia flashbacks and the story would have flowed better for me in the beginning. Read them because they are vital to the story!

I truly love Taya. She is a complex badass who has a lot thrown at her very young but she comes out swinging and takes control of her life. Or does she?😏 Plot twists on top of plot twists. Her growth and development is great. And Maxim? Shew. Morally black and intense mafia enforcer but also funny? Yep. We love it! The ending (HFN) left me feeling cliffhangerish. So, not a cliffhanger per se but Lina, we need book two please!

“Touch her and I’ll enjoy watching her kill you.”
If that doesn’t scream power couple energy, I don’t know what does.
One of Them by Lina Beck is an intense, dark mafia romance where an orphaned assassin crosses paths with a Bratva enforcer—and let’s just say, chaos has never looked so good.

Taya doesn’t need saving—she is the storm. And Maxim? He’s the one man strong enough to stand beside her, not in front of her. I devoured this book and gave it 4 stars. The dual POV, feminine rage, and fierce found family vibes had me hooked.

Quote I’ll never forget:
“I was too complicated for anyone to choose. Too fucked up, inside and out. The level of crazy no sane person picks for themselves.”

Read this if you love:
Dual POV, brutal yet tender romance, strong assassin FMCs, and the kind of found family you don’t cross.

**This book was given to me as an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.**

When Lina Beck put out the ARC sign up form for this book, she had me at Bratva and female assassin. I knew this book would be spicy but it was scorching hot instead! 🥵 Taya and Maxim were such a good pairing and they really balanced each other out and the banter was chef's kiss for sure. I really enjoyed the pacing of this book as well as the action because it's the Mafia we're talking about, there's a lot of action. I especially enjoyed the character development of Taya from the beginning to the end of the book. I totally recommend this book if you want something quick and spicy to read.

📖✨ One of Them by Lina Beck
⭐️ 3/5 | 🌶️ 3/5

She’s no damsel. He’s no savior. Together, they’re explosive.

Taya isn’t your typical FMC—she’s sharp, resilient, and refuses to play the damsel. In a genre where the male lead often swoops in to save the day, Taya handles things on her own terms. And I loved that about her.

Maxim, the Bratva enforcer, is intense, brutal, and impossible to ignore. The chemistry between them is electric—equal parts respect and raw tension.

The writing has a gritty, unfiltered edge that fits the story’s tone perfectly. It’s not conventionally polished, but it works for the world Lina Beck is building.

Curious to see how things unfold in the next book—Taya still have a lot of fire left.
