Mi jefe me dejó embarazada.
Me obligó a casarme con él.
Y ahora...

This book picks up where the 1st ended. I couldn’t believe how Arsen was after the birth of the baby. But I quite enjoyed how Laila didn’t forgive him so easily and he really had to work for it. I loved how hard he tried and how he was there for her mom until the end. Do yourself a favor and read this series. Laila and Arsen don’t disappoint. Arc given for honest review.

The series was too long for my taste. These stories all have allot of unfolding drama that just keeps piling up, but there were definitely periods where the story didn't progress and became boring. The second book was much better than the first especially when it came to Arsen's character.

Arsen began book two in the doghouse (which he completely owned and deserved) after the death of Marie and the expulsion of Laila and the baby for a period of three months without telling her that it was to save her life from a possible hit. She had a bounty on her head and was fair game for an execution. He spends much of book two groveling and explaining his actions to Laila. Marie died while Laila and the baby were no longer in the house which is a bone of contention for Laila and Arsen in book 2. There is allot of back and forth in book 2 with Arsen trying to desperately to right his wrongs, that proves to be more than he anticipated. Laila is a tough sell making this an angst filled book 2. It took some time for Laila to finally show signs of coming around.

Laila's father is in and out of book 2 as well as Jasper's character. They provide the backdrop for the criminal element to raise its ugly head several times. Arsen is pulled into that drama which adds intrigue, mystery, suspense, all elements necessary in this genre. My only complaint with Laila is the fact that she has anything to do with her father since he has never been a father to her or a husband to Marie. She just isn't able to set healthy boundaries with a man who is such a vile character. Arsen, on the other hand has problems dealing with Jasper which almost ends in disaster.

A good series, with a good plot and diverse characters.

Soo bad. I hated every moment. FMC was insufferable. Plot was annoying. I almost DNF’d so many times and regret not.
Also, are bots rating this book?? How is it over 4 stars? Ridiculous

Naomi does it again. She is such a brilliant story teller. You felt every emotion she put into her book. I love that this conclusion gives us a HEA. I love epilogues and well if you give me an extra extended epilogue, I’m sold. I love to look ahead at where these characters end up. On a personal side I feel like Laila’s character was a brat for far too long in this second half, she never listened and she just infuriated me. I loved how Arsen finally spoke his truth and showed Laila what was underneath. 10/10 would recommend.

Scarred Queen is the second and final book in the Adamov Bratva duet. Arsen and Laila’s story begins in book one, Scarred King. The story concludes in a happily-ever-after. Laila’s dad is a piece of shit and decided to sue her for the house as soon as Marie died because he's in serious trouble with some very bad people. He's getting help from Jasper Arsen old cell-mate who he gave another chance even after Dominik tells him not because he doesn't trust him. The two tackle the problems together once Arsen finally let her in and deal with the problem and Laila finally learned to trust him and she eventually finish school and open up her yoga studio. dear god nothing happened during this book. the more i read the more i got pissed off lol. the dad continues to be an absolute nuisance, i just don’t understand why she couldn’t have him killed more earlier, he literally helped put a hit on his own daughter and i use the word daughter very loosely lmao. thank god i finished that book in a couple hours, lord knows i was skipping through most of it.

Honestly, Laila was too annoying in this book, she refused to listen to him despite many people saying that he sent her away because there was a danger to HER. She made him beg and prove and even then could not believe it when Arsen was good. She dragged the whole thing and made it about herself. What about being a supportive partner who understands that her husband’s job is unlike many other people’s job. Didn’t enjoy part 2 :(

My boss got me pregnant.

Made me marry him.

And now...

“What do you mean, 'you're sending me away'? Is this some kind of joke?"

But the look on Arsen's face says nothing about this is funny. He means it: he's sending me and our newborn baby to God knows where for God knows how long.

It's "for my safety"? Yeah, I've heard that line before. It's what men say when they're doing something for themselves.

But fine. If that's what Arsen wants, he can have it.

But I'm taking my heart with me. So if he wants the family we signed on the dotted line to create...

He'll have to come fight for it.

“Scarred Queen” is the second installment in the “Adamov Bratva Series” and I was hooked from the first chapter in this one as well. Arsen finally allows Laila to come as her mum is nearing the end. She hates him and will never forgive him for the months she has missed out will her. Arsen will never tell her that her mum is the one that begged him not to bring her daughter home - she did not her to see her dying and her health declining. But with her life no longer in danger, he has no reason not to bring Laila home. Now the the fireworks or the big freeze starts!

“I stayed busy the last few months—distracted myself with work and lies that what I was doing was best for all of us—but now, the weight of it all comes crashing down on my shoulders. I feel every second of the time we lost hanging from me, dragging me down.”

Slowly the barriers come down ….. will Laila trust him again? Will Arsen finally open up to Laila? Will he explain to her why he is the way that he is, feels the way that he does? Will they be able to save their marriage and become a family again? Will their relationship survive both their past trauma’s? Will their pasts destroy any chance of a future together? Will parenthood bring them closer to each other? So many questions …. you will be hooked!

The story is full of passion, intrigue, betrayal, vengeance, power, control, twists and turns around every corner - most of all love ♥️ There is never a dull moment - you will be hooked! The book goes through moments of the thoughts or possibilities that it could happen to, to extreme violence to the most beautiful tender moments! I’m very happily hooked! I did not want it to end! From page to page, chapter to chapter, I could not put it down - you will metaphorically be on the edge of your chair! Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊

I ended up really liking the second book in the Adamov Bratva duet, and thought that the author did a great job tying up loose ends from the first book and the cliffhanger the readers were left on. Laila ended up really annoying me as a character in this book, which is why I gave the book a 3/5 instead of a 4/5 like the first book in the series, Scarred King. I know that Arsen seriously fucks up in the first book and for a portion of the second book. But Laila makes him work so damn hard for his forgiveness, and at some point Laila needed to either put the dude out of his misery or make a choice to stay. She was essentially stringing him along and it was getting to the point that it was straight up cruel. I get that he needed to pay for what he did to Laila and his daughter ... but she absolutely could have gone about it in a better way than custody arrangements and threats to move out of the house. This book was a lot more emotionally charged than the first book as well. For a mafia spice heavy book, it was way more emotional than I thought it was going to be and spent quite a lot of time tearing up.
I thought it was well written, there was plenty of drama and high paced action that not only does the MMC and FMC's love story keep you invested, but the rest of the plot helps to keep you there. Unfortunately, most of the smut went down in the first book, and since Laila spends so much of this book angry at Arsen, the reader doesn't get as many spicy scenes. Which is a bummer, but the rest of it was pretty damn good and I didn't really notice the lack of spice. I would recommend this book and duet to anyone interested in unrealistic, red flag scenarios, mafia romance, with an HEA and minimal-moderate smut.

"Scarred Queen" continues the gripping saga of Arsen and Laila, picking up right where the first book left us, and it does not disappoint. Naomi West has crafted a powerful narrative that delves deeper into their tumultuous relationship and the challenges they face within the brutal world of the Adamov Bratva.

Laila’s journey is especially compelling in this sequel. I truly appreciated how she didn’t forgive Arsen right away; it felt authentic and showcased her strength. Her reluctance to simply move past the pain he caused added a layer of realism that often gets overlooked in romance. Watching her grapple with her emotions made me connect with her on a much deeper level.

Arsen is equally complex, burdened by his own demons and the weight of his past decisions. The tension between them is palpable, and the way their love story unfolds is both heart-wrenching and beautiful. West expertly balances the darkness of their world with moments of tenderness, reminding us that love can be both a sanctuary and a battlefield.

The pacing of "Scarred Queen" kept me on the edge of my seat, and while some plot points felt familiar, the character development shone through. Each twist and turn made their journey feel unique and kept me invested in their fate.

This book is a fantastic continuation of Arsen and Laila's story, filled with emotional depth and intense moments. If you enjoyed the first installment, you’ll find this one equally captivating. I can’t wait to see how their story evolves in the next book!

Ok, a follow up to my last review. This book is worth getting through book one because it wraps it all up in a neat bow :)

What's Inside ↴

In book one:
✨ Mafia boss pushes FMC into marriage and surrogacy for his own gain
✨ Mafia boss ignores the desires of everyone around him to do what he wants
✨ Mafia boss then pushes too far and loses his wife

Then in book two:
✨ Mafia boss then spends the first 60% of this book grovelling and the later 40% encouraging her to be the badass she is inside.

Usually I do a "pro/con" list for books, but I am skipping that because all this is a duet and it doesn't make sense.

✨ Laila FINALLY STOPS BEING A DOORMAT. This has one of the best and longest grovels I have seen in a bit. he really just GOES for it, despite having no idea how to win her back.

✨ Dad Arsen is just *chef's kiss*. I love a good involved mafia dad who does not care in the slightest if his kids are boys or girls. We need more mafia dads like this. I am so tired of the tired misogyny of most mafia books. Is it realistic that they would be all in on a woman being heir? Probs not, but I read books for fun, not real life. I love that Naomi West does a great job of taking gender expectations OUT of her books.

✨ Arsen really becomes likeable in general in this book. So does Laila. Thank god because book one was rough for them both.

I love books that are fun, a good ride, and have great HEAs. This duet hits all of those points. So much so that I am continuing to read more in Naomi West's catalog! Are they all pretty similar? Well yeah, but I just want to enjoy my time and not think too hard :)

A love worth waiting for…

With how everything ended in book 1, it was pretty clear that Arsen and Laila’s journey was going to be anything but smooth.

Another thing was blatantly clear… Arsen is undeniably and completely in love with the woman he’s tried to hold at arms length. He can tell everyone that it’s for their own safety and their protection, but it’s because he loves Laila and their daughter, Nina - and that scares him more than staring down the barrel of a gun.

The trouble is, Laila is so hurt by her sudden exile that it’s going to take more than expensive gifts and sworn protection for Laila to forgive her husband. But one thing Arsen isn’t afraid of is working hard to achieve whatever he sets his heart on… and his heart is firmly set on making his wife believe that she and his daughter are his number one priority.

Unfortunately, with the power of being the pakhan of a highly respected and revered Bratva family has its fair share of haters and enemies wanting to take your crown. But sometimes those enemies are closer than you think. As Arsen works hard to show his wife just how much she means to him, others are waiting in the wings to pull them apart, quite possibly for good.

Fantastic second part to this fantastic duet. I fell totally in love with Arsen in this book. He’s so determined to prove himself to Laila and he’ll stop at nothing to show her the extent of his love - even if it could cost him everything he has built.

Loved this story. Can’t wait to read more by this writer as I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I told myself this was a DNF, but my curiosity got the best of me. Well that and I was in-between book and couldn't decide what to pick up next, so I decided to give this one last shot.

The reason I initially DNF'ed at 35% was because the beginning was a super sad and dealt with a sick parent. After a lack luster plot, and characters that I didn't love I decided to just put it down for my own mental well being.

But I think my break from it helped! I forgot honestly why I was so mad at these characters in the first place 😅, and I ended up not hating as much in the end.

What I was quickly reminded of though was how annoying Laila the FMC was. Anytime an FMC runs off to do something frivolous when there is a threat to their life and then inevitably gets caught, irritates the shit out of me. Like maybe I'm insane, but if my rich Mafia husband tells me to stay inside while I can get anything delivered or brought to me... I have no reason to leave that house 🤣. Sounds like a dream to me lol.

But I digress... 😅

Arsen did end up redeeming himself a bit in here for me (after the ending of the last book, I didn't think it was possible). Laila really made him EARN his place back as her husband, and in the end I actually sort of liked him.

And in the end the two characters who I had been waiting to be 💀❌, finally kicked the bucket and for that alone I'm glad I finished this. GOOD RIDDANCE.

Overall for the duet, not my favorite obviously. I have the first book 2.5 ⭐'s and I'd give this one maybe 3 ⭐'s.

I've read much better.

Scarred Queen picks up a few months where we left off in the previous book in this duet, Scarred King. Arsen is still dealing with the aftermath of resolving the danger that Laila and Nina are in however this has all come at the cost of incredible distance between the two that has left them broken and disconnected. As they come back together, Laila finds herself unable to trust Arsen not to send her away again.

The emotions surrounding Laila’s mom’s illness and ultimate passing left me distraught. Very recently, I too lost someone who was my ultimate soulmate to pancreatic cancer so the emotions and wreckage hit me too much in this book. It was written so well that I found myself reliving the pain and feelings of loss so hats off to Naomi West for writing it so well. Marie was amazing throughout the duet and was truly missed.

Although seeing them separated was hard, the grovelling in this book was top tier! Their bickering was excellent and funny, him speaking to her while she just texts him? SO REAL! What I loved most about Arsen was that he wasn’t the typical macho “do everything I say” bratva boss, he was understand of Laila, tried to do his best instead of just yelling at everyone, he was HUMAN. Ultimately, Arsen’s development into a proper husband and father was his strength and this couple was absolutely heartwarming.

“You’re the sun to my rose. Always and forever.”

The found family aspect was also so good. Dominik, Kira, Gedeon, Polina, even Guilia and Enzo were such a welcome addition to the extended Adamov family, I was glad that although Laila lost a parent, she gained a loving support system. It was endearing and made for a fun read.

All in all, this book to me was really about building a marriage. From start to end, you see the couple coming to terms with their relationship and inevitably fighting their fears to be with each other. Nina was the most adorable child ever and I loved the epilogue, it really made for a perfect ending. Naomi West has done it again and as always I cannot wait for the next duet.

Closer to 2.5 but the ending saved this damn book. Listen, you can just go right ahead and skip the first 60% because all it does it go through Laila trying to decide if she can forgive Arsen, grieving her mom, and talking about how angry she is at Arsen.

Like I get it that your husband sent you away so he could protect you and people wouldn’t come after you since there was a bounty on your head but also like okay isn’t that nice you get to live?!?

Truly boring up until Jasper comes into play. It’s hard to figure him out and I couldn’t decide what side of the line he was on but the way they wrapped up her dad and Jasper’s story was the only thing that brought joy in this book. I was really hoping Laila would play a role in taking down her dad and/or Jasper so I was pleased that she took the gun from Arsen. It felt like it gave her more understanding of the situations he’s placed in as head of the Bratva. The only part of this I didn’t love was that I felt there could have been a moment where she told him about Jasper using him from before he even got to prison to help ease his guilt.

Guilia was also a bright spot in the book.

If I didn’t feel like once I start a book I have to finish it then I would never have finished this one.

AND did Gedeon end up taking on more responsibility indefinitely or just the one time, did Arsen ever tell Dom he was in fact right

Duet Review: My review is for the duet as a whole. While I absolutely loved book one, Scarred King, and the story it told, book two, Scarred Queen was a bit harder to love. I loved the whole idea of book one. We have the Bratva Pakkan who ends up falling hard for the one woman he is not supposed to fall for. There is quite a few hurdles, lots of emotions running high and definitely some family tensions between both Arsen and Laila. Scarred King was an amazing read. I was literally glued to my seat with book in hand the entire time. I didn’t want to put it down.

But with Scarred Queen for nearly 60% of the book I was over the dramatics that was known as Laila. She let the grudge last way longer than necessary. It was all saftey. Could Arsen had went about it differently, definitely. But, thankfully, once she was over it m, things got better. The book was still a 4 star read but it could have been handled differently in my opinion. Plus I found several errors peppered throughout. It needed a little cleaning up.

In the end, the duet was great and kept me on my toes. Especially with that romance that was an absolute “chef’s kiss”. I couldn’t get enough of it.

Spoilers — I can’t stand the main characters. I’m sorry but Laila is so dumb it makes me question her as a person and furious. She 1. refuses to stay in the house with a person out to kill them all, 2. then runs out of the house into line of fire when she hears gunfire, 3. then goes out of the house again for a stupid lunch and 4. tells no one that she’s going to get kidnapped…
She either wants to be kidnapped and likes to be saved that badly or a selfish idiot. Arsen on the other hand, my brother… first, you leave your wife who just gave birth the second (literally) the child comes out, and spend 2 weeks sleeping in an office to avoid them and taking care of the kid. Second, you your wife and newborn away so she can’t see her mother’s last few months (understandable later but jeez). Thirdly, wanting to keep a contract to divorce later, I can go on but like get help my guy. The boundary setting or giving each him chances over and over is terrifying that I hated him for putting her through it. And then I start to hate her for how dumb she is. I think 2x books was too long and the character growth is regressive

MMC/FMC- Arsen (and I still think it’s a ridiculous name for an ex-con) and Laila
Genre- Mafia Romance (Bratva Lite)
Length- novel
Heat- 4/5
Series? Y. Part two of a duet.
Safety? Y
Triggers- Loss of a Parent (present and past), Discussion of Ultimate Self Harm, Violence, Language in Two Languages, Explicit Erotic Content, Childbirth, Complicated Yoga Poses
Tropes- I’m Too Dangerous For You, Surrogate Romance, Parenthood, He Ain’t Heavy- He’s My Bratva, Betrayal, Secrets and Lies, Dysfunctional Family FTW, Epic Groveling, Revenge Shopping, Do-Si-Do With The Mafioso, Forgive but Don’t Forget
What I liked- I liked Laila and Arsen, and I thought that the side characters were excellent and really engaging.
What I didn’t- the book could have been better if it was shorter. His groveling and her withholding forgiveness got really old and made a good portion of the story drag.

Scarred Queen is the second book in the Adamov Bratva Duet series. Scarred Queen is the continuation of Arsen and Laila's story. Author Naomi West continues to surprise me with her amazing storytelling and writing skills. Scarred Queen had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book just like the first book did. I'm so thrilled that Arsen and Laila have a happily ever after to their story with them together along with their children. Scarred Queen is an absolutely a fantastic mafia romance book to end the amazing journey of Arsen and Laila. Scarred Queen is suspenseful, page-turner, an ease to read, romantic/steamy, an outstanding storyline, wonderful characters, unpredictable, and this book was just an outstanding book. I definitely would recommend this book for anyone to read after they have read Scarred King first. I can't wait to see what comes next for this fantastic author!.

Love, LOVE, LOVE!!!Naomi's writing! Only one thing quite frankly had me doubled over laughing, and that had to do with the birth scene at the hospital. I'm not sure if this was in Scarred King or Scarred Queen, but the idea of the Attending physician SNAPPING HIS FINGERS as the nurses fluttered about was the most ridiculous thing to be imagined. Coming from a background with nurses throughout the family, the very idea of a doctor SNAPPING HIS FINGERS to obedient nursing staff (!!) Oy Vey!! Not to gonna happen EVER, Naomi!!! I worked as clerical secretary on the ICU at my University hospital, and a cocky young resident tried that BS on nursing staff. Silly little boy went to sleep after an exhausting 48hr shift in the staff lounge, and woke up a couple hours later, in a Body Bag. Properly chastened, he never had a problem with nurses again. He Knew Who the Bosses were, and it Ain't hotshot doctors!

I really loved this story, it picks up from where book 1 left off. Arsen ends up in the doghouse when he has to send Laila into virtual exile. She’s very unhappy and tries to plot her return only to be thwarted by her bodyguard. Things do progress and she is called back home by Arsen, however, she’s not willing to forget and forgive in a hurry, especially as her mum was so poorly. Her wretch of a father makes an appearance, his character is such a weasel which fits in nicely with Jaspers! I experienced so many emotions throughout this book, I loved all of the characters apart from the aforementioned Jasper and Leila’s no good father. Such a fabulous book to finish the duet.

"He's sending me and our newborn baby to God knows where for God knows how long. Fine. If that's what Arsen wants, he can have it. But I'm taking my heart with me."

Scarred Queen picks up Arsen and Laila's story where Scarred King left off. Their journey in Queen is even more dramatic, emotional and intense than King. I wondered about Laila for a little while in this one. She was a bit wishy washy but when she evolved, she evolved fiercely. I love that even though it took a little bit, she found herself and her place in Arsen's world. As always, this is a fantastic, very well written journey and most definitely a must read!

“Forgiveness is never easy, but maybe that’s why it’s worth doing."

I have to admit, Laila absolutely got on my nerves the first half of this second book. The stubbornness that was noted in the first book with each of these was even more so in the second. But Laila took it to a whole other level. But, Aaron’s stubbornness won out.
A really great duet. Only good writing can make the reader so invested in the characters. In this case it was every character, which makes for great writing. Just the write amount of suspense, twists and turns, mixed with love, family, friendship and some really hot scenes.
This duet felt complete. The family these two created all from one not so simple contract.

Too long

I ended up skipping the book at the end and didn't miss a thing. Our fmc is mad at the mmc since he sent her away for three months when her mother is dying. She only saw her mother for a day before she died. I felt the anger and the upset. The emotions were high. I gelt proud she didn't forgive easy and he had to work for it.

It was obvious who the villian was. Jasper and her dad. I think the story was on for too long. Like the epilogue. 20 years later. Also the time in the book makes no sense. She was gone for 3 month and then 7 weeks later doms wife have the baby. But in the first book she was 7 months pregnant 🤰 makes no sense

There is spice. But I read better indepth spice. Wasn't as explicit.

We jump right in where the last one ended. And I started very unhappy with Arsen. I am so glad we get his pov cause without that this man would be un redeemable.

There is a lot of loss and heartache in this book.

Alliances that become friends…
Friends that become chosen family…
Family that doesn’t deserve the title…

Laila .. she is a powerhouse and stands her ground. She becomes a Queen in her own right.

These two .. from the start they had to how they end .. a true story of working together and not giving up and learning to trust in each other.

And the epilogue…. Nailed it.
