Dirty Grovel

Rate this book
I ran from paradise to protect the man I love.
But he's after me now.
Because I took our baby with me.

Nassau was supposed to be my fresh start.
Far from my billionaire Russian's empire.
Far from the chaos I brought to his life.
Far from his mother's disapproving stares.

But I can't truly leave Oleg behind...
Because I've got our baby with me.

I can't let him find me, though.
I heard what he said the night I left.
This thing between us can never work.

But Oleg Pavlov isn't a man who gives up easily.

He tracked me down across an ocean.
Not to drag me back.
Not to claim what's his.
But to grovel for a second chance.

"I loved you that night, the night before, and every night since."

God, I want to believe him.
The question is...
Can I?

SPOILERS

Didn't know this was a series otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with it. This is the 2nd & final chapter to this couple which starts with MMC having kicked out FMC because he believes she betrayed him but she did not.

Reviewers stated that MMC does a lot of groveling but I saw none. A quick "I'm sorry" in the later half or towards close to the end for him not believing in her does not a grovel make and that was the only reason I picked it up as I understood FMC was strong & not very forgiving.

Lies. All lies people because this FMC is neither. All she does here is mooch on MMC, become his doormat and is horny all the freaking time.

I am not going to even mention the plot because it is not worth it. All I'll say is that it has my hated tropes of the dead-ex (MMC fell in love with his OW at age 18/19 and wanted to marry her but she died in a boat accident, along with his kid sister and the accident was his fault because he was tinkering with it and blew up the boat that killed them and he got injured. I'm sure in Book 1 we have a lot of mourning for the OW as here she is still front & center in his thoughts multiple times even when he claims towards the end that he has fallen in love with FMC).

And I should also mention that once he kicks FMC out of his life, he asks his Mother to find him a wife. He would have married who ever she chose for him and not pursued FMC had he not found out she was pregnant. So BS to all the nonsense writers these days like to term as "romance" and "love".

The second part of this duet does not disappoint, although Sutton manages to leave it doesn’t take long for Oleg to find her and grovel for his right to show how much he loves her. There’s more to their story however with twists and turns along the way. Can they find trust and love in each other again - you’ll just have to read it and find out.
Thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion to their story, just as fabulous as the first, and I would definitely recommend as I couldn’t put either book down.
The line - “I loved you that night, the night before, and every night since” - breathtaking…

**They do need to be read as a duet however and in the correct order**.

Was grovelling in the room with us? Or the spice? lol

This one just wasn't for me. Both main characters annoyed me to my core and acted so immaturely. Lost interest in the plot and even the side-plots puttered out and just disintegrated into nothingness.

A handful of errors but nothing too distracting.

Would not read again.

The first book was better. I like the story but get distracted with all the errors and the mishaps of the wrong characters name the author needs to have an editor and beta readers fix up the story for it to be published and enjoyed

This is the second and final book in the duet, and it truly delivers an emotional and satisfying conclusion to Oleg and Sutton’s story. After the heartbreaking end of book one, where the two go their separate ways, this installment picks up with Oleg determined to find Sutton—partly out of concern, since she’s pregnant and he’s not even sure if the baby is his, but also because deep down, he still cares for her more than he’s willing to admit.

Sutton, on the other hand, is fiercely guarded. She’s been hurt badly, and she’s trying her best to protect herself and her heart from falling for Oleg all over again. But time, shared moments, and undeniable chemistry make it harder and harder for both of them to stay away. You really feel their struggle—not just with each other, but within themselves—as they try to navigate the pain, confusion, and hope that lingers between them.

What I loved most is how both characters show growth. Oleg, especially, begins to open up in a way we didn’t see in the first book, and Sutton finds the strength to choose what she truly wants, not just what feels safe. Their journey isn’t smooth—there are plenty of twists and emotional moments—but that just makes their happy ending all the more rewarding. And yes, Mama Oleg even gets involved, which was such a sweet and unexpected touch. She added a little warmth and humor that balanced out the heavier moments.

If you’re into second-chance romances with real emotional depth, a bit of angst, and a whole lot of heart, I definitely recommend this duet. It’s the kind of story that sticks with you after you finish the last page.

There was a considerable amount of depth in book 2 between Sutton and Oleg that unfolds. Sutton's character is what I would classify "a runner". They run with no plan in place to actually make that attempt successful. In my opinion these kinds of character add drama to the story that is fleeting.

Their story is one that is fraught with a roller coaster ride of drama with their personal relationship but also with the issues that Oleg must face as his enemies move in on his company and his Bratva. His Uncle, unbeknownst to Oleg is in cahoots with his enemies while his mother continues in be the thorn in Oleg's and Sutton's side. She is a woman that even by books' end that included the extended epilogue, was a nasty character on a good day. She is suppose to love her son and yet is constantly undermining him and Sutton throughout book 2. Drew, Sutton's ex-boyfriend/low level criminal also plays a large part in the dynamics of book two as well as her sister Sydney. Sutton's pregnancy becomes a vocal point in their story especially for Oleg. He eventually sees himself as a father and a husband, something that never was important to him before Sutton.

If you are a reader that likes lots of suspense as well as emotional duress in a book then this book should keep you interested and guessing as to what is going to happen. Sutton and Oleg's relationship grows substantially in this book, but is also met with setbacks thanks to the his mother and her sister. Oleg is drowning in guilt associated with death's of his sister and high school girlfriend in the boat explosion and the untimely death of his father. Oleg is eventually able to face his demons with Sutton's help and put his late family to rest. Sutton and Oleg's relationship ping pongs back and forth but does grow into an actual love story. Artem is the voice of reason when everything starts to go sideways toward the end of the story as Oleg and Sutton must not only outwit his enemies, but fight for their very survival and that of his business and Bratva. The author did an excellent job in laying out that portion of the book.

Oleg made the biggest improvement in book two while Sutton lost points in how she responded to her sister when everything falls apart. The entire dysfunctional obsession that Sutton displayed in book 2 with her sister was OTT. I dropped the rating an entire point because that aspect of the book went too far, for my taste. Sydney was always the victim in Sutton's eye's even though much of what happened to her and to Sutton was Sydney's own doing.

Didn't finish because it felt like the author picked up writing the sequel 10 years after they last read the first book. The characters have no past history, the main female character for some reason allows him to "rip up" their contract from the first book, even after she's actually fulfilled the obligation of getting pregnant. The first book made such a big deal over a "legitimate heir" , but now marriage to his baby mama is not even considered.

I can't finish a series where the characters changed between books for no apparent reason.

Is the grovel in the room with us?

I read the book because it hinted at a whole epic groveling..., and chapter after chapter I kept waiting for it to happen... Sadly, there was none.

This story had no business being a duet. Even if Sutton had a backbone and stood up to Oleg at all, there was no point in stretching this out for 880 pages. To be completely honest, the first book could have had an actual ending that would have sufficed and no one would have had to suffer through reading about Sutton accepting Oleg's abuse and FORGIVING him without him doing any real apologizing or groveling.

And the terrible characters and less than mediocre plot doesn't even touch how irritating it was to have to read paragraphs multiple times to figure out who the fuck the author was talking about. On multiple occasions, the wrong name was used for characters. We were also blessed with a multitude of just incorrect used and words completely misspelled, like to the point that any document writing program would have alerted the author to the misspelling so was this even given a cursory read through for editing?

The first book was disappointing. I should have left it at that. Instead, I chose violence and punished myself.

it’s called “dirty grovel” BUT THERES NO GROVELING??? she literally just forgives him. He barley apologizes and treats her like shit all the time. The first book gave me so much hope but it crashed so hard. She’s basically never actually mad at him and forgives him without him ever apologizing.

This book was ok. The thing that bothered me most were the typos. Wrong names were being used in multiple places throughout this book and typos in others. It was a meh read over all. Not sure how it got rated so high.

Okay I want to start off this review by saying I feel as if the synopsis doesn’t really align with what goes on in the books… like technically it does but I was anticipating both books to at least start in a different direction based on what the blurb said. Definitely on this book more than the first.

Other than that, I feel like this was just an okay mafia duet. I enjoyed the first book a bit more but this one started to make me angry. By 85% I wanted to DNF because Sutton was being such a brat. I swear she high tails it any opportunity she gets. I suppose Oleg isn’t any better. The first half of this book he’s either ignoring Sutton or insulting her and then complaining to anyone who will listen that he can’t trust her. Okay, valid, considering the events of the first book. But then at some point he just flips and is like, “no, actually I’m gonna marry this girl”. Okay?? Like, he found out the baby was his and they swam together a few times or something.

Based on the events of the first book and how the blurb read, I assumed he’d find out Sutton’s reasoning for keeping secrets and he would try to win her over again. There really wasn’t much groveling. Sutton folded the first chance he showed her his dick. And then by the end she’s fretting over how bad of a partner she is to him and I agree!!! Like, grow a back bone and show up for him the way he does for you. What’s really frustrating is there was a brief moment where I thought that was exactly going to happen but the author took the opportunity away from Sutton. Which I would have preferred to see Sutton stand on business rather than her sister come swooping in. I understand the “reasoning” but still annoyed because all Sutton talks about is how her sister was always there for her and how she wanted to be able to help her for once and she doesn’t even get to do it!!!

Ugh idk, aside from all that the Bratva bits and the business stuff felt like it popped in and out when convenient so it was hard to care about any of the stuff with his uncle.

Dirty Damage was a whirlwind, and book two picks up right where the first left off—no time jump, no recap. Sutton’s not on Boris’s yacht, as we’re led to believe, but safely on Oleg’s, and soon they’re tucked away in his Nassau home, trying to pick up the emotional pieces.

Their reconciliation is… slow. Sometimes painfully so. Sutton never really apologizes for keeping secrets, and Oleg is still locked behind the emotional walls he’s built over a lifetime. They clearly care for each other, but they struggle to talk about anything meaningful—honestly, it’s maddening.

One thing that really got to me was Sutton’s reluctance to ask Oleg for help saving her sister, even though she knows he has the power and money to do something. And when she finally does, he shuts her down because it doesn’t fit into his grand plan for revenge. Their miscommunication goes beyond frustrating at times—it feels like things are dragged out unnecessarily.

Eventually, they plan a real wedding (yay!), but of course, more drama rolls in. Sutton’s ex, Drew, starts threatening to leak sex tapes involving both Sutton and her sister Sydney. There’s a last-ditch plan to take him down, but Sydney ends up shooting him and going to prison. Then, just when you think the drama is over, Boris dies, Sutton overhears a rude comment from Oleg’s mom about how “unfit” she is as his bride—and she runs. Again.

The happy ending does come, but not before we wade through at least 10 chapters that felt more like filler than plot. At some point, I just wanted to shake the characters and say “GET TO THE POINT!”

Still, there’s something compelling about Naomi West’s writing. She knows how to write broken people trying to heal and how to build tension that keeps you turning pages—even if you’re occasionally rolling your eyes.

If you can handle slow burns with a ton of emotional (and actual) damage, you'll probably love this. I just wish it had been tighter and maybe 100 pages shorter.

I’m rating this book 3.5⭐️. A good mafia romance to me should have 3 parts - a Mafia Don or Russian Pakhan who is ruthless, isn’t afraid of danger and who handles the violence around him. The second part should be his possessive love and care for his wife/woman/girlfriend. The third part should be how their love story plays out amidst the events happening in their lives.

This series delivers on the romance. BUT it reads more like a billionaire romance, a billionaire who’s a little thuggish instead of a man forged in violence leading a criminal empire. That was its first strike.

The second strike was that I HATE wimpy women. Sutton was a wimp. I know she had a challenging childhood because it was pushed at us at every opportunity. However, she was a wimp who ran instead of standing and fighting for what she wanted.

The third was the violence. I liked Oleg but he wasn’t a typical Pakhan. He had skills and bravery but he was a billionaire not a Pakhan. Why write him as a Russian Pakhan? The story would have been just as interesting, maybe more so if he was a thuggish billionaire.

This is my second set of “Russian Pakhan” stories by this author and I think they will be my last. She writes an amazing love story which is why I kept reading this series but it’s not true to the criminality and violence that typically occurs in a Dark Mafia Romance. I’m sure there’s an audience for this type of mafia romance, it’s just not me.

“Dirty Grovel” is the second book in the “Pavlov Bratva Duet.” Oleg and Sutton’s story continues - I was totally hooked, again! Sutton has always seen herself as a weak person, controlled by the Palmer women’s curse, Oleg knows that she is not. As the story continues you see Sutton grows from strength to strength, and starts to take control of her life. He needs to beg her forgiveness, especially after doubling that the babies is his.

“I ran from paradise to protect the man I love.” He follows …. not prepared to let her go. She is his strength, she is his heart, she is his life. “He tracked me down across an ocean. Not to drag me back. Not to claim what's his. But to grovel for a second chance. “I loved you that night, the night before, and every night since."

The story is full of passion, intrigue, romance, danger, drama, betrayal, twists and turns around every corner! The sizzle between Oleg and Sutton jumps off the page - it is electric! The story is very fast paced and full of twists and turns! You have danger, betrayal, intrigue, death, power, action and passion. There is never a dull moment! This book is everything you expect from a dark mafia romance! I did not want it to end! From page to page, chapter to chapter, I could not put it down - you will metaphorically be on the edge of your chair! Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊

If I could go back in time and not read these books I would.

Here's why...

Mafia boss that is actually fucking useless and can't protect anyone from anything.

Obsessed ex (OM) that is also useless at being obssessed/threatening.

Fucking dumb ass sister who is the big protector but actually only made things worse.

Dead ex gf (ick can we stop with this? It added nothing to the plot but only undermined any feelings for fmc) and she was brought up all the fucking time.

He's a dick that doesn't actually care about her.

She's a standard damsel in distress. She has absolutely no consistency. She runs away as quickly as she forgives him and honestly, who the fuck goes to a funeral in a pink dress that in her own words looks like a stripped dress. Shut the fuck up. Stop at a bloody target and buy something black, you're late anyway. And then you're surprised people are side eyeing you at a funeral in a cathedral. Dumb as hell. Faye ain't your mate for letting you do that, honestly.

There was no need for this to be two books, infact if it was consolidated and written not to drag it could it could have been way better but the drama just keep being done over and over again. Plots were introduced then dropped. Just pick a path and walk it 🫠.

I wanted mafia daddy, papa bear, my wife shit. It did not deliever.

Side characters - too many introduced then dropped.

Dirty Grovel is book 2 of the Pavlov Bratva series so if you haven’t read Dirty Damage, go read that first and then come back so you’re not lost.

This book picks up right where the first one left off, with Sutton running away from Oleg after a heated confrontation that leaves both their hearts broken. In order to protect herself and her baby, she hides out only to be taken by Oleg once more and confined to an island paradise. But as these two work through their differences, it is clear that despite the breakdown in trust, their love for one another keeps them tied together.

“I will keep choosing you every day for the rest of our lives.”

Boy this one took a lot of emotions out of me. My heart broke for Sutton when she questioned whether she’ll ever be enough for anyone. Sutton is so wonderful, she really deserved the best future. Yes she has abandonment issues that come out in full force, but she’s lived a life with no true home or family so when faced with history repeating itself once again, she goes into full fight or flight mode. Sutton really was so real, it was easy to relate to her on a personal level and those are the kinds of FMCs that hold a special place in my heart.

Oleg stepping it up to finally accept Sutton and grovel for forgiveness was definitely much needed. While I do wish that the grovelling was more, poor man had a lot on his plate as it is so I do understand why things resolved the way they did. Sutton and Oleg truly are two broken souls but they complete each other so Oleg’s former Beast facade was definitely less pronounced in this one and I appreciated him so much more.

“When I look into my future, I see your face.”

Oksana and Sydney really grew on me, despite my reservations, but the real MVPs were the Savins. Artem and Faye are the kinds of friends that everyone needs so for them to support Oleg and Sutton throughout the duet, it really meant a lot.

Naomi West really brought the heat with this one, it was such a good blend of angst and emotions, along with relatable characters that had more layers than onions. I binged this duet so quickly and despite the wonderful epilogues, I wish I could read more of Oleg and Sutton cause two books wasn’t enough.

Sutton and Oleg

I actually didn’t think there was enough groveling in this one to make up for the amount of pain and heartbreak Oleg gave Sutton in the first book. I mean he kicked her out suddenly based on the lies his uncle told him. This is the same uncle he thought was trying to sabotage his business and betray him. And he suddenly believed him over Sutton? Sutton didn’t have anywhere to go, and she had a deranged ex stalking her. Oleg put her in a dangerous position while pregnant. He didn’t do enough groveling to make up for that.
And Sutton’s unhealthy co-dependent relationship with her sister continues in this one. It defined her. At times, it felt like her relationship with Oleg was overshadowed by whatever drama was going on with her sister. So much so that the plot goes off the rails multiple times because of it. It annoyed me that it wasn’t resolved til the end. They both badly needed therapy asap.We got that right away in the first book. But it was dragged on and on in this one. It derailed the plot.
It’s dual POV, lots of drama with Sutton’s ex, a few steamy scenes, so much angst and emotion. A nice HEA but glad it’s over.

Dirty Grovel is absolutely suspenseful and a page turning mafia romance. The story is amazingly written, exceptionally balanced with action/romance and beautifully executed by Naomi West. She continues to showcase what an incredible author she is with each book I’ve read by her thus far. Dirty Grovel characters are fabulously written and beautifully executed throughout the story. Dirty Grovel is the continuation of Oleg and Sutton fantastic story. I absolutely love getting to see these two amazing characters again. I love that Oleg and Sutton have a happy ending to their story with them being happily married and raising their daughter as well as knowing they’re expecting another little one. Not only would I recommend this book, but I would suggest reading the first book in this series to see the beginning of Oleg and Sutton’s journey. I can’t wait to see what the next book from Naomi West will be about. Dirty Grovel is an absolutely amazing mafia romance story that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it.

Part 2, not as good…

I really enjoyed part one. Sutton was somewhat annoying in that one but I sort of went with the hot and cold that both she and Oleg displayed. But she’s still exhibiting a lot of idiocy, to be honest. She’s still totally convinced that her MIL, Oksana, despises her and once again she goes off half cocked.

The Bratva stuff is pretty good and all of the stuff surrounding it was entertaining. It’s the characters that didn’t make the grade. The sister of Sutton is Sydney and she’s picked a guy who abuses her, but is also an enemy of Oleg’s family. This happened before Oleg ever came into Sutton’s life but the boyfriend turns out to be toxic. So her character is not too smart either. Granted, the sisters had a rough childhood but they made really bad relationship decisions.

Anyway, Sutton being not so smart, the MIL being terrible to her, and the sister being none too bright brought my rating down. The women should have been strong but instead they were written like b!tches.

KU read.

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. 2.5 stars. I don’t know what I thought was going to happen but a romance that swung from hatred to obsessive love like a pendulum was not it.
Sutton blamed everything on herself or on Oleg. She was either throwing a pity party or screaming at him. All this or she was completely in love with him to the point where she ignored everyone else.
Then there was the disappointment of the “Bratva”. All this was just a morally grey billionaire. There was none of the brutality of a mafia dark romance, just a man with unlimited money and good with a gun.
This is the second bratva duology I have read of hers and have looked at a couple others. It seems that they all have either contracted pregnancy or accidental pregnancy Don’t get me wrong, I actually like these tropes but when that is all an author writes? You just know you are going to get the same formula time and time again.

Solid 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️’s!

Hmm…, this was more action packed than the first book, but it was not as good in terms of pacing.

I appreciated the righteous anger between Sutton and Oleg, but I felt like their constant back and forth was giving me a headache.

I loved the parts where Oksana was on page. She felt so believe as the cold, calculating MIL to Sutton. The frigidness between them, that very slowly thawed out was sooooo juicy to read and I loved how that relationship developed!

Couple dislikes: where did Mara go? She like disappeared this entire book basically. Also, Boris was a basic non-factor the entire later half of this story. Then Drew’s major role out of nowhere? Not believable. Plus every single grammatical error or misspelled word or run on sentence… this duet needs a SERIOUS editor! It was so distracting and happened constantly. I almost DNF’ed.

This story did keep me entertained while reading, so there is that!

This entire duet wasn't bad per se, but it was unnecessarily long. A lot of things were repeated and judging by the title, I was expecting Oleg to grovel a lot but I was left feeling so disappointed. Sutton's character was totally butchered and she was even more hopeless in this book. She gave in to him too easily and the whole issue with Sydney just kept going on and on. Oleg spent most of the book not believing Sutton and she still stayed with him hoping for a future. He did so many things that warranted a lot of grovelling but he only apologised a few times and then that was it. And the entire scenario with Drew was so unbearable, creepy and dragged out. The story could've easily been wrapped up in one book. And I just wished Sutton had a backbone because all she did was live off on Oleg's money and be horny for him despite him pushing her away so many times. I should've known after book one, that this book too is going to be the same and just as disappointing.

Here's the second book about a girl who falls in love and gets pregnant, but she was sent away because he was given wrong information or just assumed she was bad. He then chases after her because he wants to control everything, but things weren’t what they seemed. They go through so much together, especially as he realizes he was wrong and does everything he can to win her back. That part of the story is truly the best! Plenty of outside people try to get in the way, but once they finally give in to their feelings, it’s clear how much they want each other and their baby. It’s such a heartwarming love story, full of heartfelt groveling and redemption.

This is the 2nd book in the Pavlov Bratva series featuring the conclusion to Oleg and Sutton's captivating Bratva romance. In Dirty Grovel we begin right where we left off in Dirty Damage the 1st book in the series only now Sutton has run away from Oleg. Sutton is looking for a fresh start with her baby in Nassau far away from the Russian empire. However Oleg has no plans on letting Sutton go anywhere without him since he claims that he loves her and he wants a second chance. Can Sutton believe him? Should she? You really need to read the conclusion to this captivating Bratva romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.
