Cutie In Camo

Rate this book
I’d lived in the city all my life, but after years of honking horns, crowded interstates, and endless commutes, I was just ready for a change. Spending most of my mornings and evenings stuck in traffic had gotten old—especially after ten years of the same routine.
So, I did something bold. I quit my job, landed a new one in a small town, and packed up my life—along with my loyal dog, Rex—and moved out to the country.
I thought I had it all figured out. Peace, quiet, open skies, and a slower pace—I was finally living my best life. Or so I thought.
Then one day, a man dressed in camouflage showed up on my doorstep to introduce himself and ask one simple question. I had no idea that this unexpected visitor would be the one to sweep me off my feet—quite literally—right into his tree stand and into a whole new kind of adventure.

Omg!! This was sooo cute. If you are a hunting girl, you will devour this. I myself am not and I STILL loved it! Jackson is THE perfect golden retriever. We have neighbors turned friends turned lovers. He falls first. Very outdoorsy! The spice was top notch too!

Small-town, neighbors-to-lovers, book lovers, and dog lovers and what more could you ask for? This book had everything: tough topics, a rollercoaster of emotions, and spice! I felt like I was right there with the characters from the very first chapter, and it never disappointed. I’m a huge fan of her unique writing style. It’s refreshing and different from the usual romance reads. If you’re looking for a feel-good romance that hooks you from the start, this is it!

I feel like I learned a lot about bow hunting from Jackson and he was such a great book boyfriend.
Raven was a fantastic FMC, she was strong and independent. She has been through a lot in her past and then some more after moving to town. Jackson was by her side through it all. He loved and supported her from the start. Jackson had his own issues with an ex and Raven showed him he could be loved no matter what.

Read this as an arc. I have to say I loved this book. It was fun and relatable with some spice thrown in. The characters are relatable and have real problems. The time of this book is perfect and goes along with the title. Plus I’m from the country and I haven’t found many books that I can relate so well with. Absolutely loved this book.

I read this as an ARC after the author came across one of my videos of me sitting in a tree stand hunting while reading my Kindle! This book honestly felt like the story of me and my husband—I’m a city girl who met him at a hunting club when I had never hunted a day in my life. So needless to say, I was very excited to get my hands on this book!

This is the author’s debut novel, and I think they did a great job. The storyline was just as cute as the title promised, and overall it’s a fantastic first book.

Key Notes:
• The spice was great (though a few parts were a little unexpected).
• The love story was adorable, and the main characters had amazing chemistry.
• I loved that the dogs were such a big part of the story.
• This is absolutely a perfect fall read.

Pain Points:
• There was a bit too much explaining or word repetition at times. For example: “When we pull into Tanner’s driveway—I look over towards Tanner’s house to see Tanner walking towards us as Jackson backs up to the navy blue pole barn.”
• The pacing felt a little choppy. It seemed like we were missing chunks of time, only for it to suddenly say, “it’s been a month…”

Note: If I don’t get a novella of the wedding and the new house, I’m going to be very upset!

Overall: Super cute and a fantastic debut. I’m just a little sad I didn’t get to read this one while in a tree stand, but maybe for Tanner and Luna’s book I’ll make that happen. I’m excited to see this author grow!

This was a different type of book than what I typically read, but I actually enjoyed it. Read as an ARC, so thank you for letting me read (:

This book was fun, and different from what I’m used to. I related so much with the FMC Raven. I too lived in the city, and moved to a small town where everyone knows everyone. So I relate so much to her. Not to mention her being a dog lover, and book lover.

The MMC Jackson was struggling to move on after his ex girlfriend had betrayed him by cheating on him. Until he met Raven. Whom also was in a bad relationship. She was too scared to enter into another one. They both had relationship issues in the past but then when they met, you knew right then and there that it was going to be an amazing love.
The interactions between them was good.

The characters had real problems and real things that occur in everyday life and I’m here for it. The character details and word building were great.
The spice and the chemistry were also great. Please consider the trigger warnings before reading this.

My only complaint was I felt like there were times where it was a bit fast paced. Like missing some time gaps in the story. But overall, loved it (:

this book was a fun read. i really enjoyed the characters. i also related a lot to them, living in a small town with a husband that hunts and sometimes i tag along. we also have 2 german shorthair pointers like the characters in the book. if you’re from a small town and have a significant other who loves to hunt and enjoy the peaceful setting you’ll definitely enjoy this book. i even feel like my husband would enjoy it and boy he doesn’t read😂😂

this book is about raven and her fresh start in river valley. she moves to this small town where everyone knows everyone. jackson is an avid hunter and her next door neighbor. he stopped by one day asking for hunting permission and offered her help whenever she needed it. between his ex girlfriend and they guy raven worked with things got hard. she always leaned on jackson, who was just looking for someone who enjoyed his hobby too and didn’t want to change him. he found that in raven and she found safety in jackson.

this book is spicy and has some triggers so be sure to check those out!

This book was such a fun and cute read! Especially with October & fall coming. It was perfect! I like to read a lot of dark romance so this was a good palate cleanser with a lot of romance & spice minus the dark.

All I wanted to do just wrap a cozy blanket around me with a hot cup of coffee or coca and read. My husband is a country boy & hunter so this book was so relatable and I loved that! If you’re a dog lover this book is for you. Rex & Nala are such cuties.

The MMC & MFC fall hard & fast! They get their HEA and the spice is spicy! 🌶️ the backseat scene …🥵 IYKYK!!

Do check trigger warnings there is a few triggers :
Mention of domestic abuse (physical and emotional)
Cheating
Attempted assault/rape
Mention of cancer & death

I thought this story was very well written. All of the topics tied together very well and the character build-up was great. I want to read more hunting romance books now especially with hot hunters who wear their hats backwards! It was very relatable and easy to connect with. Over all a great read! ⭐️

I LOVE the idea of this book. As someone who grew up hunting with my dad but fell away from it (I don’t like the cold lol) but then married a man who LOVES to hunt, it was right up my alley! I took my hunter safety course online and surprised my husband with it about 5 years ago. We go hunting together every year and he always tells me how much he loves that!!

Jackson…first of all…hellooooooo!!! He is so sweet!
Raven is fierce and I love her!!

Their story is NOT a slow burn! It is quick and to the point and I love that! They knew what they wanted and went for it!

I knew from the JUMP that Dean was going to be bad news!!! Glad my intuition was right!!!

And can we talk about the bar scene…and the blind scene….and the bonfire….I meannnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!

It sounds like there will be another story coming and I can’t wait read it and hopefully get more tid bits on Jackson and Raven!

Omg! This is a debut novel that will capture your heart from the beginning. If you love the outdoors, hunting, small town romance and happy ending with a little spice, then this book is for you. It was like a hallmark movie, which I love. This book was very real for me in so many ways. I could relate my life to this story and some of the characters. I loved this authors way of making this story so real and having you fall in love with these characters. I cannot wait for the next book! This book will release on October 1st. Grab your copy and enjoy!

Amazing! This book is for you if you have a love of outdoors, hunting, small town vibes. It was not over the top with the spice but the spice was good. I fell in love with Raven and Jackson. I will definitely be waiting for the next book to come out!

Jackson was struggling to move on after his ex cheated on him and left him for the other man. Raven was very scared to try another relationship after her last one ended and he was an abusing her.

These two were definitely made for each other and they support one another. Jackson found his hunting partner in Raven and Raven found her reading partner in Jackson. Please read this book you won’t be disappointed.

Please check your trigger warnings before reading this book!

🌶🌶

I got to read Cutie in Camo as an ARC and honestly, I really liked it! It was such an easy book to get pulled into, and I’ve been looking for a story like this for a while—especially since my husband is a hunter, so some parts just felt extra fun and relatable.

The only thing I wish was different is that I wanted more relationship building in the first half. The romance was good and the spice level was solid (🌶🌶), and the overall vibe kept me turning the pages. Definitely recommend, but make sure to check the trigger warnings first—there’s mention of sexual assault, domestic violence, and cheating.

All in all, I’d call this a solid, enjoyable read with a unique setting that gave me something different than my usual romances!

Cutie in Camo is an adorable small-town romance with just the right mix of sass, humor, and heart. The chemistry between the leads feels genuine, and their banter kept me smiling the whole way through. I loved the country setting and the touches of family, friendship, and personal growth woven throughout.

This book was a bit repetitive in its descriptions, details were over explained, at points the pacing felt choppy/slow, and a few moments felt predictable which would make it harder for me to stay in the story. Overall though this was a cute story with lovable characters and I enjoyed reading it. Great debut for this author and can’t wait to read more books in this series!

Oh my lord I feel like I couldn’t put this down! Jackson and Ravens story is so so beautiful. Jackson is the kind of man that EVERY woman wants! My husband is a hunter so I get the whole October hunting thing (my birthday is in October) and that they’re always busy.

There were a few grammatical errors but nothing too bad where I couldn’t figure it out.

I can’t wait for this book to be on my shelf! I will definitely reread and annotate when I get the physical book!

If you want a good romance definitely check this one out! Especially if you live in “the boonies”!

Such a sweet, heartwarming read! Jackson and Raven are easy to root for—their chemistry is adorable, and watching their relationship grow is just so satisfying. I loved how their personalities complement each other, and how family, friendship, and small-town life are woven into the story. The book has plenty of heart, humor, and those little moments that make you smile. A cozy, feel-good romance that stays with you long after you finish!

MUST READ!! Couldn’t put it down, like smacked in the face with my kindle fell asleep reading it last night… just like they talk about happening in the book. The spice level was right where I like it and the whole book is just so romantic and adorable.

Is there a little trauma? Yes, but it helps the storyline so much. Definitely read the trigger warnings to make sure it is what you are okay with. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

I received an ARC of this book a couple weeks ago and have enjoyed reading it every night before bed! The story is so cute and I can’t wait for the next book! I really hope we still get to hear Raven and Jackson’s story in the next book as well. I would love to be able to keep up with the 2 of them and how their life progresses. I didn’t want the story to end; I could have read about their whole lives because they were so sweet and endearing! You have to read this book!

ARC review.

This was such a cute, small town fall romance. Jackson was sweet as can be and Raven is exactly the kind of fierce FMC I love to root for. Their chemistry was great and the hunting theme gave the book a cozy vibe.

That said, the writing style tripped me up a little. Some of the longer paragraphs and over explaining details made it harder to stay in the flow. Still it’s a fun read either way plenty of sweet moments.

The plot of this book was wonderful! Raven and Jackson’s love story is beautiful! The trigger warnings are absolutely true, and if you have a hard trigger of SA, don’t read this book(this is not a trigger for me). The hunting details were all correct (I’m a hunter as well). I would 100% recommend this book to everyone! It’s such a sweet story, and I can’t wait for the next story!

Oh my gosh, can we talk about how cute and cozy this book is? It's such an easy read with the best cozy vibes. I really enjoyed that it felt realistic and genuine. I was able to visualize the scenery like I was there. It is the perfect snuggle up under a blanket outside or near a bonfire book. Looking forward to the next book! Excited to see what Raven gets into next!

Camo Cutie was the perfect cozy read for these cooler mornings! This story had all the things I love in a small-town romance—second chances, a friends-to-lovers slow burn, and the perfect clash between a city girl and a country boy.

The author really captured the charm of small-town life, with just the right amount of tension, humor, and heart. The chemistry between the main characters felt natural and sweet, and the outdoorsy hunting setting gave it such a unique twist.

If you enjoy heartfelt romance with a strong sense of place and characters you’ll root for, you’ll love this one. I couldn’t put it down!

Thank you to the author for the ARC!
Cutie in Camo was such a cute, quick read. While the story had a lighthearted, sweet romance at its core, it also touched on a heavier topic that was handled with care and sensitivity. I appreciated the balance between the fun, feel-good moments and the more emotional ones. Overall, it’s a charming, heartwarming read that left me smiling.
