Ravens Hockey #4

Your Second Chance

Rate this book
A pregnancy she didn’t plan. A man she didn’t expect.
After heartbreak drove her across the ocean, Nova Thatcher thought London would give her the fresh start she so desperately needed. But between her mother’s passing, the weight of her own depression, and a pregnancy she never saw coming, Nova is barely keeping her head above water. Her new job as social media manager for The Hands rugby team was supposed to be her lifeline, but it’s hard to focus when her world is falling apart.

Then there’s Oliver Stone—the brooding backs assistant coach who seems more annoyed than impressed with her viral content. He’s the last person she ever imagined leaning on, but when her loneliness becomes unbearable, Oliver steps in. He sees through her bravado, offering a steady hand and a safe place to land when she needs it most.

Nova thought she was destined to face it all alone. Oliver thought he’d sworn off love for good. But when two broken people find each other in the most unexpected way, maybe it’s not about being ready—it’s about being brave enough to reach for a second chance.

This is a story about finding the strength to ask for help and the love that can pull you back from the edge.

This was the perfect book for my baby, Nova. I love her so much, she has overcome so much, and I am so happy she got her hot burly golden retriever of a man with a fineeee accent who wants to give her anything in the world ❤️✨in the real world, this is what I’d want for her or any friend like her.

Buuuuuut!! Sitting as its own separate novel in the series and as a piece of fiction, I was wanting MORE.

I think if this second chance at love for Nova was attached to your biggest downfall, I would’ve loved this ending for Nova. She goes through so much in that book, and she deserves her happily ever after.

But standing as its own novel, there was no conflict, except Nova’s internal battles, which felt a bit repetitive.

Personally, low stakes romance doesn’t do it for any more, and this felt very low stakes. Again, it’s what I’d want for Nova, but not what I want as a reader.

I loved Ollie and he did everything right - almost too right. I would’ve loved more character development for him. I feel like we didn’t get an internal look at much of his past & his own struggles.

I’m such a sucker for spice, but the constant mommies and daddies of it all pulled me out 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love these characters so much and I love that Nova got her happily ever after. I am beyond excited to read Austin’s story & see his struggles play out after Nova left ❤️❤️❤️

Again I was very lucky to beta read this book, I enjoyed all of the rave hood hockey series , however this one was my absolute favourite. The MMC e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g .

I absolutely loved this book.

Starting out where we left off with book three, the girls are on their way to london. Finding out some life changing news on the plane an being thrown into a whole new reality, you can almost feel the way her chest tightens as everything changes for Nova.

I absolutely love the daddy luna vibes lol, shes her ride or die forever and it is amazing that Nova has her after losing her mom & everything with austin, i truly believe luna is how nova is able to move on.

I have told this to Vee over and over but Ollie is my FAVOURITE mmc - dare i say almost of all time- the way he is so patient and so kind, some people might think hes too perfect, but THATS what Nova fucking deserves. He has his own struggles, I love how at first hes annoyed shes american lol.. i love his dirty mouth, and how it effects nova.

Truly the way Ollie is and how he cares for anything Nova cares for almost makes me cry now even just thinking about it.
As someone who found her ollie in real life, this story makes my heart so happy.

Plus the SPICE- if youre into a mmc with dirty talk and no shame but who also has a heart of the goldenest of retrievers lol this guy is gonna be on your radar !

I personally recommend reading this book immediately after book three so it heals you after your heart is hurting. It’s best received for me when I read them one right after another.

AHH. I literally NEEDED this book. It was healing in so many ways. Seeing Nova finally get her HEA brought tears to my eyes.

🖤Workplace romance
🩶Friends to lovers
🖤Not his baby
🩶Black cat x golden retriever
🖤He falls first

After the disastrous end to her marriage, Nova moves across the world to start over. And immediately finds out that she is pregnant with her ex’s baby.

Ollie is a rugby player turned coach and is quickly entranced by Nova. She is a puzzle that he wants to solve.

Ollie and Nova’s journey to their HEA is a tough one. For both of them. Nova’s trauma is at the forefront and Ollie does not let her carry these burdens alone. He is literally absolutely TOP TIER and I loved him for that.

Luna is hilarious and had me cracking out loud constantly. She is the type of woman I strive to be – she’s loyal AF, hilarious, bold, and so adventurous. I cannot wait to see her book eventually!

We also get a glimpse into the future of Austin and I cannot wait to see his redemption (with someone else)!

3 ⭐️’s ~ ARC review with spoilers ~

I’ll be honest, I’m struggling to write this because I hate giving less than stellar ARC reviews.
I was so excited for this book and to see Nova get her HEA…for the first 20% I was IN IT! Then things started to unravel a bit for me after that.
First of all, Ollie was the most patient book boyfriend to ever exist…the man put up with a lot. His instant infatuation with Nova made me nervous at first (I’m not an instalove girlie), but somehow this was still working for me. However, somewhere along the lines I started to feel like I didn’t really know Ollie at all, outside of his undying love and loyalty for Nova.
As for Nova, I was really rooting for her but she also started to frustrate me. Unfortunately, I can relate to struggles with both losing a mom and being in a relationship with an alcoholic. I understand how it can break you down and make it hard to trust…but poor Ollie was out here fighting for his life to prove himself to her and she just left him dangling most if the time. And as much as Ollie started to feel one dimensional, Nova started to also feel that way…stuck in this same place without much growth.
She really lost me when she spiraled immediately upon Luna telling her she was moving back to the states and then just deciding she was moving back with her, with barely a thought to Ollie. She even secured herself a job without even discussing it with him first. And typical Ollie, he just took it on the chin.
Lastly, and this is probably a me thing, but I COULD NOT with the Mommy and Daddy kink. I admit, it’s not my favorite to begin with but that way it was done in here made me cringe every time. It felt forced and didn’t even felt like it fit with the characters…but it was also way over done. Like every single s*x scene and it just took me out of it each time.
I did really enjoy Austin’s small redemption arc at the end…which is actually not who I was expecting to feel the most satisfied with at the end of this book.
All the to be said, I think there are plenty of people who will love and eat this up. And I did enjoy it, but I found myself repeatedly frustrated as well, and overall, it didn’t work for me as much as I had hoped. 😕

Beautiful, gut wrenching story. I’ve never felt more heartbroken and put back together like I did with this read. It was so heartbreaking, and filled with anxiety, doubt, love, devotion, growth, and hope.

Watching Ollie and Nova’s love story was beautiful. Seeing her finally get her second chance was so incredible. Her strength and growth was so beautiful to watch blossom.

Daddy Luna was hilarious as always. But the patience Ollie has and the glow up Austin has in the story was such an incredible redemption. I loved the story down to my core, every tear and every heartfelt love story was spectacular.

Okay this was my first book by Vee Taylor, but I will most definitely be going back to read more! It definitely read well as a standalone, but it is book 4 of the Raven Hockey series. I was sold once I heard she was pregnant and low key loved this book. Nova moves across the pond to start fresh after a tough divorce and finding out she’s pregnant. But she never expected to find such unwavering support from anyone so quickly, much less the handsome assistant coach for the team who’s social media she is managing. Ollie is very swoon worthy and so dependable with how he steps up to be there for Nova, even when she begrudgingly spends time with him. But they chemistry is definitely present, and once she starts to give in with those pregnancy hormones, she can’t resist anymore.

What to expect:
✨ assistant rugby coach x social media strategist
✨ workplace romance
✨ black cat fmc x golden retriever mmc
✨ he falls first
✨ she’s pregnant, but it’s not his
✨ friends to lovers

Thank you to Vee Taylor for letting me read and review an ARC! All opinions are my own.

Once again I am at the mercy of my love for amazing tropes and the drug that is said tropes. VPR is my drug dealer, & I can't say I'm mad at them or it. They are just out here doing their job being the book dealer. And don't even get me started in Vee. I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU MA'AM! How are you out here putting literal crack in these stories? How dare you come with an amazing book and I fall so HARD for your book! Just when I think okay, this one is going to be good. I feel the good juju all around it! Well, I was right. This book sucked my soul right out of my body and not so politely out it back in the end.

IDK about you but I am not always soo okay with making my eyeballs leak, and feeling allll the feelings when it comes to a book. I feel enough big feelings when I'm awake, I don't always want to feel them when I read. But darn it if Vee doesn't show up with this amazing book and SUCK MY SOUL out of my body. I felt so many things while I read this. I went from okay this is some good shit to OH HELL NO then to sobbing 😭😭😭. Of course we can't forget the moments that quite literally squeezed my heart.

Nova has got to be one of the most BAD ASS women! She has been through hell and came out on the better side of things. She has been through the mud as they call it. That's no easy place to be, but she made that mud into the statue and kept on walking! I loved her soooo much! She was an anxiety girlie pop like myself and I felt so seeen! I was like how does Vee know how I have an probably will feel again?

Daddy Luna was a REAL GEM 💎 ✨️ !! I absolutely loved her and couldn't have rooted her on anymore than I did!! I loved that she was Nova's person. NO MATTER WHAT. She was there, and had no intention of giving up her place in Nova's life! I loved the relationship they had even if at times it was a bit co-dependent. At this point I would have been a STAGE 10 CLINGER if I had a bestie like Luna. Luna was a blast, she was sooo funny and unapologetically herself. I loved that she was able to find who she was and made a KILLING at it!! Everyone should have a LUNA in their life. She is the person you need, and will always love because they just get you. SEEN & HEARD.

Oh OLLIE! You my man, are the most magical being that has walked the pages of a book! I loved that he was all in from the beginning. He had his reservations, but he knew what he wanted and Nova and that sweet baby she was growing was his. He was the one to say that she was his, even when they hadn't really defined anything. They didn't "date" according to Luna 😆. But you BEST BELIEVE this man was down BAD. He was everything that she needed Austin to be but couldn't.

Ollie sure had his moments of apprehension and just needing to sit with things and process. But he was the one that refused to leave her side. He loved Nova more than he wanted to admit at first, but he knew she was it for him. I loved how much he was willing to do for Nova and the baby even when he barely knew her. I loved the heart that this man carried with him on every step of the journey he walked. He had the purest of intentions and refused to back away when Nova pushed him. He always came back, so that she could see he was there. Waiting for her to say ILY back, and FINALLY marry that thick thighed GAWD of a man.

Seeing how Nova and Ollie evolve not only as a couple but also as people was so surreal. It was like I was watching it in real time like a movie in my head. Seeing their chemistry just flow, watching the tension build and them both falling far and hard for each other. They had the best chemistry and he was literally her yang to his ying. He gave her that calming effect that so many crave but rarely find in their person! It was profound, and intoxicating seeing how Nova and Ollie worked.

I felt Nova's pain as she walked her path not having her Mami in her life. It is a tough road to walk when you had such deep love for that person. People are taken from us waayyy too soon, and we have to forge our new path. Nova was beyond blessed that Ollie's mom and dad were so willing to open their hearts and home to her. They loved her from the beginning with ZERO reservations! I couldn't help but cry when seeing that pure love roll over Nova in waves, and you could feel it deep in your soul.

I truly hope that Vee used some of this story based on her own, but also that she was able to find that kind of love. I loved this story from the beginning alll the way to the end. I had never read vee before this, but you best believe I am buying every book she has written and going to prepare my heart for battle. AKA READING EVERY BOOK! New Goal Unlocked!

YOUR SECOND CHANCE by Vee Taylor
The Ravens Hockey Series Book 4

RATING: 5 emotional stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
QUICK TAKE: Rugby coach falls for pregnant social media manager struggling with crippling depression. He stays through ALL of it. Found family. London setting. Mental health rep that'll make you cry. Lactation exploration. Zero regrets.

MAIN TROPES:

🏉 Golden Retriever MMC x Black Cat FMC
🤰 Accidental Pregnancy (NOT his baby, the trust!)
💼 Workplace Romance
🥺 He Falls First (and HARDEST)
💕 Friends to Lovers
🏠 Found Family
🌙 Platonic Soulmates (FMC & her best friend)
🇬🇧 Set in London

MICRO-TROPES THAT MADE ME FERAL:

✨ Bath running (without being asked!)
✨ Secret pregnancy research
✨ Buying baby's first things BEFORE they're official
✨ Gentle belly kisses + talking to the baby
✨ Nursery building
✨ His mom immediately adopting her
✨ He loves her best friend because she's FMC's person
✨ Zero kicking-worthy moments (UNPRECEDENTED)

THE FMC: Nova Thatcher - Pregnant, depressed (REAL depression, not cute sadness), running from a shattered life in Chicago, barely keeping it together as social media manager for a rugby team

THE MMC: Oliver Stone - Backs assistant coach, has rules about complicated relationships, throws every rule out the window for her, stays through depression/walls/pushing away, patient, present,
PERFECT

STEAM: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Moderate-High, includes lactation)
MENTAL HEALTH REP: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is HOW you write depression. Not as a plot device. Not cured by love. Messy, consuming, real.
ANGST LEVEL: High internal angst (FMC's depression, trauma, self-sabotage), Low couple angst (MMC never wavers)
FOUND FAMILY: 🥺🥺🥺 chef's kiss
CW: Depression (detailed), anxiety, past infidelity, addiction (past partner), parental death (past), pregnancy, lactation

BOTTOM LINE: Read this if you've ever felt too broken to deserve love. Read this if you want MMCs who ACTUALLY support their partners. Read this if you believe second chances are sacred.
Vee Taylor wrote a masterpiece about learning you're worthy, even on your worst days.
Not once did I want to kick Oliver Stone. He's the new standard.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + therapy bill + new book boyfriend

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Your Second Chance was unlike any book I have read before. By 30% (maybe sooner) things are already starting to heat up. By 50% it’s all in. (Literally and figuratively) I don’t generally read sports romance but when I do, I want them to be like this. The topic of mental health is HEAVY in this book. And I think a lot of us can appreciate that and relate. Not thinking you are good enough for good things. 👋 Been there done that. Nova is a strong, independent woman who has been through the wringer. She has built a wall up to protect herself from being hurt any further. But here comes Oliver Stone. Who from their first interaction, senses something different about Nova. He’s relentless in chasing after what he wants (but not in a creepy way) In the way we all wish someone would pursue us. And as he figures her out, sees how deeply she is truly hurt, he becomes a safe place. A safe place she’s running from because hellooooo, self destruction anyone? But eventually she lets him in and to see the healing in Nova…well it’s something that will bring tears to your eyes.

OH!!! And did I mention that there’s a pregnancy in this book? That might be an important little tidbit of information. And it’s NOT Ollie’s. So let that sink in.

As the self proclaimed ADHD Queen, I loved that this book snatched me right from the beginning. The first half of the book was a whirlwind, because so was Nova, but the 2nd half felt more calm. There was of course still some “drama” & excitement. But as you read about Nova & Ollie coming to a place of peace and contentment and LOVE, you feel that relief through the pages of the book.

Highly recommend “The Second Chance” by Vee Taylor! Now excuse me while I go read the previous 3 in the “Ravens Hockey” series!

Thank you to Vee Taylor for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts! This is my first ARC so I am so excited for the opportunity! 💕

Coming off of the non-HEA of Nova & Austin’s story in Your Biggest Downfall (book 3) I was curious how everything would play out with the surprise pregnancy and ready to see Nova get her HEA after the emotional turmoil she had experienced with Austin.

Nova is settling in London with her bestie Luna (who is a hoot the entire book with her comedic relief but also an amazing friend 100%) at a new job and the inspected pregnancy news on the flight over.

Ollie is an assistant coach on the rugby team that Nova does social media for now and isn’t happy about having someone interrupting his practices until he falls hard at first sight of her.

The relationship isn’t conventional but Ollie and Nova lean on each other and forge a path of love that fits them and for the baby (which isn’t his).

Things I loved:
Ollie’s consistency in taking care of Nova and baby Scarlette as soon as she’s born
Luna’s humor and carefree vibes
Nova settling into her own after heartbreak while being honest with her mental health struggles
Ollie and Nova’s playful banter as he tries to win her over
Ollie’s parents being so supportive and welcoming Nova with open arms
Nova willing to hear Austin out even though it’s been years and giving him a chance to be a dad

Things I didn’t enjoy:
Nova making big choices without talking to Ollie
Part 2 set up of why Ollie couldn’t visit at all while waiting on Visa requirements
Nova being so dependent on Luna even after she has solidified her relationship with Ollie - I wanted more independence at times
Mommy/Daddy in the spicy scenes isn’t for me personally so just skimmed over those lines
I wanted to know more depth of Ollie - he was almost too perfect throughout the story

I am excited for Austin’s book next! Thank you Vee for this eArc!

Another 5 ⭐️ book from Vee!

I was anxiously awaiting Nova’s book after being gutted reading her non happily ever after with Austin in book 3, Your Biggest Downfall. Your Second Chance picks up where we left off with Nova and her best friend Luna moving to London for a fresh start. After loosing her mother to cancer, her husband to addiction, and discovering mid flight that she is in fact pregnant, Nova is hanging by a thread. In steps Ollie, the assistant coach for the rugby team Nova has just started working for. All though Ollie has sworn off love and complicated relationships, this man falls hard for our girl the second he meets her. No matter how hard she pushes him away, Ollie is 100% committed to pulling Nova out of her spiral and being the man she needs for herself and her baby. Ollie is no doubt my favorite MMC written by Vee. Loyal, trustworthy, dependable…. and the mouth on this man 😮‍💨🥵. The spice was top tier!!

This book truly was a reminder that some people come into our lives and are only meant to stay for a short period. For Nova, that was Austin. Even though it’s painful and the aftermath can take us to some very dark places, it can also lead us to our forever person who pulls us back into the light. I’m so happy Nova got her second chance with Ollie.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“ that’s what Ollie was- trust. He wasn’t a fleeting moment or a distraction. He was steady, a constant, something immovable in my messy, chaotic life”

“ As I stood here with Nova, experiencing this with her and knowing he was missing all of it because of his own choices, there was no room for jealousy. I had it all, I had her. I had what he’d given up”

Thank you so much Vee for allowing me to ARC read this amazing story 🖤

Whew what a ride! Nora was on her way to a new life and ON THE PLANE found out she is pregnant! But she had her best friend Luna by her side and together, the would conquer anything. She gets to London and on her first day of work she find herself throwing up and one of the coaches comes in to check on her. Ollie thought she had just had a wild night the night before, but he had no idea. But one look at Nora and he was hooked, he wanted to get to know her more. Nora felt the pull too, the attraction, but she couldn’t. She was pregnant, freshly divorced, and she couldn’t get involved with someone she was working with..again. But, Ollie was persistent and he was there for her. This man was major green flags and someone she could depend on. And even when he found out about the pregnancy, he stayed. But poor Nova, she was so scared of love. Ollie had his work cut out for him, but he was not going to give up on her, on them. These were his girls and he was going to be there for them. And then the end, it was so good to catch a glimpse of Austin, I am so glad he got clean and was doing good. I’m still mad at him though. But I love the family that Nova and Ollie made with her daughter. This book was about healing, finding love again, and building something real she deserved.

Vee Taylor broke and healed my heart with this book. I went into this story just hoping for a good romance and what I got was a true look inside depression and a journey of healing alongside the kind of people we all hope to find. Nova moves to London, recently divorced, grieving, and surprisingly pregnant. Coping with her heartbreak and hormones, Nova has to fight to create a whole new life for herself alongside her best friend Luna. Rarely does a book capture the heartache of grief and hope so well. Vee Taylor truly depicts the reality of a broken heart—the denial, the set backs, the distrust of good things, the fear to have hope. She proves that
A few good people can save your life and help you heal. When Ollie enters the picture and proves how love can overcome and embrace all the broken pieces of our hearts, he truly exceeded my expectations of an MMC In this kind of story. He manages to be steady and supportive without being overbearing or one dimensional. His struggles and emotions are present too. You see both of these characters choose love and work for it over the struggles of a messy, complicated life. I’m not usually a fan of time jumps, but this story was told in a way that the time lapse fit well, allowing for a satisfying ending to a truly impactful story. I cannot wait to see what comes next from this author.

“I remembered how he’d started as my friend before anything else. How he’d offer me light in places I thought would stay dark forever. ”

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book so here is my honest opinion 🤩
This book was truly so good!! I honestly was upset at how busy I was this week & the fact that it took me a week to read it. I liked the characters immediately, the pacing of the book was great, & I really enjoyed the story. The spice was steamy & I think we all need our own Ollie 🥵
I would definitely recommend this one!

This book. It healed my heart for Nova to finally see her get her happily ever after with a man like Ollie! I for sure thought that she was going to end up with Austin but I’m so glad they didn’t. Ollie is the definition of a perfect match for Nova! The way he took care of Scarlette just melted my heart! Thank you Vee for giving Nova the ending she deserved!

Oh my heart! Nova was absolutely amazing in her book. She struggled at first with the transatlantic move and the surprise pregnancy but with Ollie and Luna's help, she grew so much stronger than she thought she could ever be. Ollie was perfect, he did all he could to show Nova he was always going to be there for her. He showed her so much love and support.
All the side characters were great, I love that we are set up for Austin and then Luna's books.

I am very honored to have been chosen to be an ARC reader for this author again. This book hit home for me. As someone who grew up like Scarlette, but didn’t get the HEA she did, there is hope knowing that it’s possible for others. I cried several times reading this and was touched by Ollie. Man, we need more men out there like him!

2.75 ⭐️The fmc was so whiny and annoying. Mmc was perfect. It felt like it dragged on. I didn’t like the whole keeping the baby from an addict when she didn’t even give him a choice. I received this as arc. I probably would of dnf if it wasn’t an arc. I had to push through. Just wasn’t my jam 🤷‍♀️

✨ARC Review 📚✨
* As always please read the trigger warnings before as this book has some very heavy topics.

After getting out of a very toxic marriage Nova is on her way to start fresh, only to find out she is pregnant with her ex husband’s baby. She arrives at her new job, confused about what to do about the situation and then enter Ollie our golden retriever MMC. Ollie doesn’t believe in distraction, he is the assistant coach to the rugby team that Nova is the new social media manager for. The friendship that Nova and Ollie build even before they start dating is amazing. Nova doesn’t want a relationship as she doesn’t want to rely on anyone again, she is definitely dealing with a lot and she has to overcome so much depression. She slowly starts letting Ollie in and little by little their relationship develops. I absolutely love them together, and I am so proud of everything Nova overcame and for her to finally get her happily ever after.

Let me just say the only part I really didn’t like on Nova’s part, did she have a good reason yes but also no. The fact that she didn’t tell Austin for 4 years that he had a daughter didn’t sit well with me. Like yes I know she was trying to protect her daughter but I still feel Austin deserved to at least know. Also I felt like if they didn’t run into each other at the school she might have never told him at all.

As always thank you author Vee Taylor for letting me be part of your ARC team!

5 freaking ⭐️s
4th book in The Ravens Hockey series.
Nova and Ollie's book. After the last book I wasn't sure if Nova would be able to get her true HEA but Vee delivered on her promise.

What to expect:
🏉 Golden Retriever x Black Cat
🖤 Pregnant but not his baby
🏉 Workplace romance
🖤 Friends to lovers
🏉 Assistant rugby coach x Social media Strategist
🖤 Mental Health rep
🏉 He falls first
🖤 Found family

Micro Tropes:
🥺 He runs her baths
🥺 He likes her best friend Luna and understands they are twin flames. Where one goes the other follows
👶🏼 He reads up about what the dos/don'ts while pregnant
👶🏼 He buys the baby their first hat/blanket
🥺 They talk about heavy stuff
👶🏼 He gives gently belly kisses and talks to her belly
👶🏼 He builds her a nursey
🥺 His mom is amazing and excepts her right away
and no much more

Could you imagine on a plane ride from your life in Chicago to your new life in England you find out your pregnant. This is exactly what happened to Nova. This book will have you on a emotional roller coaster but Ollie will make it better for you.

I don't think there was one time I wanted to kick Ollie in the shins and that is really saying some about the type of MMC he was. Nova on the other hand I wanted to shake her at times to tell her to wake up. ollie is right there to help you. Then I have to remind myself that she is struggling with some very strong depression and anxiety. She had her world turned upside down. The day she buried her mom she told her husband she wanted a divorce right after catching him sniffing white stuff off of a strange woman's chest.

Ollie did not want complicated. That is why he didn't date or spend time with women. He was all about rugby and nothing was going to get his ways. Here comes Nova on her first day making him feel things he had never felt before. I don't want to say insta love but just feelings he didn't know what to do with. All while he was holding her hair back in the work bathroom as she got sick on her first day.

There was no one that was more complicated then Nova (her words not mine). She was pregnant, dealing with depression to the point she stopped washing her hair, divorced from an addict that was her baby daddy, and walls built up so high she didn't want anyone to get over them.

What you get with these complete opposite people? A man that would move heaven and earth for her. While she is doing everything to push him away.

There is so much I could say about this book but I think it is something you should experience!! So please read this book. The whole series is amazing.

Thank you Vee Taylor for a early copy. Above is my honest review on this amazing book.

⚠️ SPOILER ALERT ⚠️
If you haven’t read Second Chance by Vee Taylor (Book 2), stop here and go grab it first — then come back so we can scream about it together 😭💕

🌟 ARC Book Review: Second Chance by Vee Taylor 🌟

Vee Taylor… you did not come to play with this one. This sequel is everything book one was—and somehow even more. It’s messy, emotional, healing, and overflowing with love that hurts in the best possible way. I am fully, completely, and unapologetically obsessed with Ollie (and Nova, my girl 🩶).

💔 Nova’s Journey
This book wrecked me. Nova is starting over after everything—an abusive marriage, her mom’s death, an unexpected pregnancy, and a whole new life abroad. She’s learning that she deserves love that doesn’t hurt, love that stays. And Ollie? He’s the embodiment of that love.

🔥 Enter Ollie: The protective, grumpy rugby coach who calls her love like it’s the most natural thing in the world. The man is chaos and comfort all at once—he’ll whisper, “I want to bend you over this table,” then turn around and take her to meet his parents and hold her when she breaks. It’s perfection.

💬 Moments That Hit Hard:
✨ The Dedication:

“For the darkest points in my life, when even showering felt impossible, I’ll remember the light—soft, steady, and waiting for me on the other side.”
That’s Nova’s entire arc. And Ollie? He is that light.

✨ “My Ollie.”
That moment when Nova finally lets herself think of him as hers? Gone. Dead. Buried. The way he loves her through every messy, broken piece of herself is everything.

“I don’t want anyone else, Nova… What don’t you understand about that?” 🥹

✨ The Gender Reveal. Ollie + his mom + Nova = instant tears. The way he stands by her through every hard moment, and then the reveal that the “little pomegranate” is a girl?? My heart wasn’t ready.

✨ Healing + Spice. Vee doesn’t sugarcoat Nova’s trauma—she shows it, honors it, and balances it with healing and tenderness. The spice? Nuclear. But the emotional intimacy? Even hotter. Ollie tracing her pregnant belly and whispering to her? Sobbing.

✨ The Proposal. Surrounded by love. So perfectly Ollie. So perfectly them.

🏆 Final Thoughts:
Second Chance is chaotic, brilliant, and deeply satisfying—a story of healing, hope, and love that feels like coming home. Ollie is officially top-tier book boyfriend material. I thought I loved him in book one, but this book sealed it forever.

You’ll cry. You’ll swoon. You’ll want to hug Nova and probably propose to Ollie yourself.

And because it’s so Nova:

“I’m a mommy. Mommy? I’m a mom. Mamacita?” 🤣

✨ A must-read sequel that’ll wreck you, heal you, and make you believe in second chances.

Your Second Chance is a tender, aching, and ultimately hopeful conclusion to Nova’s journey; a story that doesn’t shy away from the heaviness of healing, but also refuses to let go of the light waiting on the other side.

Where Your Biggest Downfall was raw heartbreak - an unflinching look at addiction, young love, and the kind of pain that leaves scars - this book is about what comes after the breaking. It’s about the quiet, grueling work of rebuilding a life when you feel like you’ve already lost too much. And Nova’s path through grief, depression, and the overwhelming reality of an unexpected pregnancy is portrayed with the same honesty and compassion that made her first book so powerful.

Nova is still fragile in ways she doesn’t want to admit. She’s grieving her mother, carrying the weight of past mistakes, and trying to convince the world she’s okay when she can barely breathe. Watching her navigate loneliness in a city that was supposed to save her is heartbreaking, but watching her slowly let herself be helped is even more moving.

And then there’s Oliver. If Austin was the consuming fire of her youth, Oliver is the steady warmth of safety - a man who meets her not with judgement, but with patience, respect, and an unwavering quiet support she never expected. Their connection is slow, unexpected, and beautifully gentle. It’s not built on wild passion but on trust, presence, and the kind of love that stands solid when everything else falls apart.

Sometimes love isn’t loud - it’s soft, constant, and strong enough to hold the pieces of you while you learn to mend them.

Your Second Chance broke me open and stitched me back together in ways I didn’t see coming. I cried, more than once, but every tear felt cathartic. Nova’s story is one of grief and doubt, but also of strength, growth, and choosing yourself even when you feel unworthy.

Watching her finally receive the love, stability, and belonging she always deserved is deeply emotional and indescribably rewarding.

This isn’t just a romance - it’s a story of healing, forgiveness, and the quiet heroism of allowing yourself to begin again.

I was grateful to receive an advanced copy; all opinions are my own and are shared voluntarily.

This is the fourth book in the Ravens Hockey series and after reading Your Pucking Mom, Your Sharpest Edge and Your Biggest Downfall over the last year, I was excited to dive into this next installment.

Now, first of all I have to point out that although the first 3 books can easily be read as standalones if you choose, I don't think this book (nor the next one) should be read without having read book 3 for background.

This book absolutely follows directly on from the last and references many of the previous events and characters.

If you've already read book 3 then you will remember that we were left on a bit of a cliffhanger as we follow Nova and Luna as they escape from the devastation left behind and head off for a new life in the UK.

This does take us far from the Ravens team and away from hockey itself - but we get a little glimpse into the Hands rugby team where Nova is hoping to make her new start.

So, that's pretty much all I can say about the plot really because I've already said too much that could spoiler the rest of the series for you - but if you've read the blurb, you'll know that we follow Nova through some tough times as she tries to recover from the trauma of her past relationship.

I have to say that I adore Ollie.

Even after saying he doesn't do complicated, you just cannot fault his determination and total support and care of Nova - but will it be enough?

I love the way the relationship progresses and the shocks along the way.

I also love the friendship that Nova has with Luna. They really are meant to be the best of friends forever.

I really hadn't seen the last section of the book coming - I can't really say what happened, but it wasn't where I thought this book would go at all!

This definitely gives us a few snippets of what's to come in book 5, so I'm expecting another flashback book here.

However, this book really finishes off Nova's story nicely and took us on such an emotional rollercoaster with her.

I'm excited to see where the next 2 books take us before concluding this series.

🌟 Thanks to the author for the ARC 🌟

After the heartbreaking dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Nova finds herself starting over in London as the social media manager for a rugby team. She soon discovers she can't quite leave her past behind because she is pregnant with Austin Hart's child. Struggling with grief and an unexpected pregnancy, she starts slipping into depression. Oliver Stone, the broody assistant coach, has sworn off all relationships but Nova manages to break down his barriers. He immediately notices she is struggling and steps in to offer her a safe space. Nova can't deny the attraction but her previous relationship has her believing she does not deserve happiness and that eventually everyone leaves her. Can Oliver prove to her she is worthy of a second chance at love?

This was such an emotional story. I am absolutely thrilled that Nova finally got her HEA but her journey there was so heartbreaking. Ollie was an absolute doll and his patience was exactly what she needed - not to mention his wonderfully sweet and inclusive family - but I do wish there was a bit more exploration into Ollie's aversion to relationships. Although I know nothing about rugby, it was a nice change in pace and scenery for this series. I will admit I love her relationship with Luna but was worried it would cause her to regress after all her progress. I loved how the focus of this story was on mental health and not necessarily relationship drama. The ending had me a bit stressed but was a nice way to wrap up the complicated relationship between Austin and Nova. I am curious to see if we get a book on Luna - I love her personality but it seems like she has a lot going on behind the scenes.

"I remembered how he'd started as my friend before anything else. How he'd offer me light in places I thought would stay dark forever. "

" that's what Ollie was- trust. He wasn't a fleeting moment or a distraction. He was steady, a constant, something immovable in my messy, chaotic life"

"As I stood here with Nova, experiencing this with her and knowing he was missing all of it because of his own choices, there was no room for jealousy. I had it all, I had her. I had what he'd given up"

After reading Novas non HEA with Austin I was pacing waiting for this book and this book picked up right where we left off. I devoured this, I couldn’t put it down I was so addicted.
Nova and her best friend move to London hoping for a fresh start after Nova loses her mother to breast cancer and her husband to addiction. On her way moving she finds out she is pregnant so nova is falling apart at the seems barley keeping it together. Nova starts working for a rugby team and meets our mmc Ollie. Both Ollie and Nova have sworn off love focusing on themselves but they both feel the connection. The grow closer together and let me say this man is so patient and caring, the way he cared for her!! I dont want to give it away but if you made it this far in the series! IYKYK. You’ll want to jump right in to this. I know I couldn’t put this down! I love this author and can’t wait to read more from her. She knows how to tug at your heart strings taking you on an emotional roller coaster!
10000% recommend this book, this series!! It’s perfection ❤️‍🔥🏉

There are so many things I could say about this story—bear with me while I try to navigate them all.

Nova, in book one, was a character I empathized with deeply. Wanting to be everything to everyone despite her own struggles was almost hard to read because I understood her so much. When that story ended with her finally putting herself first and doing the scary thing—going out on her own—I was so incredibly proud.

Flash forward to her arrival in London: I am truly enamored with her! Thinking you’re getting a fresh start only to realize your life is about to change in ways you weren’t ready for? Jaw on the floor. I understood her hesitation and her fears, but watching her grow into her own was beautiful.

What I truly, truly loved (besides the romance—I’ll get to Ollie) was Luna. She deserves her own space here. A friend like her is so hard to find. Having a best friend is great, but having a best friend from childhood to adulthood is amazing. A ride-or-die like Luna? That’s rare. I loved their relationship so much. They may be “opposites,” but being the rock for each other through their toughest moments, truly being that shoulder to cry on, had tears welling in my eyes more than once. Luna was the secret hero of the story, and I absolutely adore her.

Now it’s Ollie’s time to shine. This man was not only a surprise addition to Nova’s support system—he was the light in a dark tunnel. The pure adoration he had for her had me swooning. He was also flawed, which I loved because it made him feel so much more real—and that’s also heartbreaking, because once again, I’ve fallen for a fictional character. Being the one to cheer her on even through his own fears was everything. I’m so glad Nova got her happily ever after—it was so deserving. She earned every ounce of her new happiness.

⚠️ CHECK TW’S ⚠️

Book 4 in The Ravens Hockey Series did not disappoint. You have to read book 3 for Nova & Austin’s story. Their story broke me. I wanted their love to work but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. And both Nova and Austin needed to do a lot of work on their own struggles whether it be addiction or mental health. In this book Nova heads to London after leaving Austin, after the death of her mother and while in the air finds out she’s pregnant with her alcoholic soon to be ex-husband’s baby. The self doubt, self hate and depression kick in full force. Her bff is always by her side which is amazing but also, Oliver the assistant couch for the Rugby team she’s working with is there as well. Ollie instantly falls for Nova. And when he finds she’s pregnant, that doesn’t deter him. When she shows the cracks in her armor, when she feels weak…that does not deter him. He stays by her side proving to her she’s worthy of love, she’s worth sticking around for….he would never dream of being anywhere but with her. And when her baby is born, he’s there as well. Loving that baby as much as he loves Nova. Promising to always be there for both.
Oliver was so mature with what he wanted the baby to refer to him as. Not wanting to take the Dad title because he knew one day this child would meet Austin and didn’t want to make it confusing. Even though he’s referred to by the lil one as “my Ollie” he is 100% the lil one’s dad! He loves that child like no other, but he always has left room for their father in their life. And when Austin comes back around, it naturally stirs up some feeling in both Nova and Oliver.
I shed some tears but I’m happy that Nova got her true love and her happy ever after.

Vee Taylor delivers a heartfelt, emotional, and utterly swoon-worthy continuation in Your Second Chance, picking up right where Your Biggest Downfall left off. This story takes readers on a journey of healing, hope, and unexpected love — proving that sometimes, the best beginnings come after the hardest endings.
After everything she’s endured, Nova’s ready for a fresh start. Heading to London with Luna, she’s determined to rebuild her life and leave the pain of her addict ex-husband behind. But fate has one more surprise for her — a mid-flight discovery that she’s pregnant. Lost, scared, and trying to find her footing in a new country, Nova’s world is turned upside down once again.
Enter Oliver Stone, the assistant coach for the team Nova’s working with — and the definition of a golden retriever MMC. From the moment he meets her, Ollie knows she’s it. Patient, kind, and protective in all the right ways, he slowly breaks through Nova’s walls, showing her that not every man is destined to hurt her. His affection for her and her “peach” (as she lovingly calls the baby) is enough to melt even the coldest heart.
Taylor balances the sweetness of new beginnings with the tension of old wounds perfectly. When the ex-husband reappears, the stakes rise — but instead of tearing Nova down, it gives her the strength to stand tall, surrounded by the love she’s finally allowed herself to accept.
Your Second Chance is an emotional slow burn packed with heart, healing, and the kind of tenderness that sticks with you long after the final page. Nova’s journey is one of courage and self-discovery, and Ollie? He’s the definition of the right man at the right time.
The time jump is perfect, getting to meet sweet Scarlette, her interaction with “My Ollie” is downright adorable.

Nova deserved her second chance to have her HEA and que in Ollie Stone, rugby assistant coach who falls for our girl from the moment he laid eyes on her. He did WHATEVER needed to be done to get close(que in offering front row tickets to a match to her neighbor) to getting her to escape for an overbight where you think thibgs head up to only the past with Austin Hart to catch up. Ollie never gives up.

Ollie Stone never believed in complicated and then enters Nova Thatcher-Hart and he can't get her out of his mind. His POV in this book is what we all look for in a golden retriever book boyfriend. He has no skeletons or secrets, he just wants to give Nova everything to show she is it for him even if it includes his family chiming in to help heal her trauma. He gets he'll never be baby pomegranate father and respects it ao when the third act happens and he comes face to face with Austin; the emotional toll written on paper is felt and the person helping him through it is not who I imagined could be while I was reading.

Mental health is the forefront of this fourth installment of Ravens Hockey series so please read the trigger and take care of her mindset.

Our girl, Vee Taylor in my honest opinion smashed it out of the ballpark with "Your Second Chance" and anything less than 4.5 stars means you didnt entirely understand the mindset while Vee wrote YSC and the battle to get this book out so shame on you. "Your Second Chamce" releases November 6th.

This book picks up right where book three left off. Highly recommend reading Austin & Nova’s book first. Nova is on her way to London, desperate for a fresh start. But when life throws her another curveball mid-flight, everything changes entire her entire reality shifts.

💖 What I Loved
* Vee Taylor’s Writing: There’s something so raw and honest about her words. She captures heartbreak, healing, and the fragile hope that comes with second chances in a way that feels real. I went through it all.
* Ollie. My ultimate MMC. Patient, kind, and quietly strong. His exactly what Nova deserves after everything she’s survived. Some might call him “too perfect,” but to me, that’s the point. He’s proof that love can be soft, steady, and still so powerful. His dirty talk, golden-retriever heart, and absolute devotion made me melt.
* Nova’s Growth: Watching her rebuild after so much loss: her mother, her marriage, her sense of self was both heartbreaking and beautiful. Her story is a reminder that grief and hope can coexist, and that healing doesn’t mean forgetting.
* The Message: This story is such a stunning reflection on how some people are only meant to stay in our lives for a season. Even the endings that break us can lead us to the people who are meant to help us heal.
* The Spice: Perfectly balanced. Intense, emotional, and intimate. It never overshadows the story, it enhances it.

💭 What I Didn’t Love
* Honestly, I just wasn’t ready for it to end. After following Nova through so much pain and growth, I wanted a few more chapters of her well-earned happiness.

💫 Final Thoughts
Your Second Chance is about rebuilding your life after it’s fallen apart, about finding the kind of love that helps you breathe again. This reminded me that the right person won’t try to fix your broken pieces, they’ll help you carry them until you’re strong enough to stand again.
