Humanity teeters on the verge of extinction. Only the hours of darkness offer the survivors respite from the Sun’s deadly radiation. But despite the hardships, seventeen year old Lyra Ellsworth and her mother have carved a little life for themselves in a quiet camp hidden in the woods.
So when raiders slaughter her friends and raze their home to the ground one terrible night, Lyra has no choice but to risk everything in search of sanctuary.
Hunters stalk the forests. Ex-soldiers patrol the streets. Even nature itself has evolved to kill her.
Yet still Lyra presses on toward Dawnhaven – a rumoured settlement to the south promising hope for humanity’s future.
Because like everyone in the wilderness, Lyra has only a single objective.
Survive, whatever the cost.
The Harvest is a heart-pounding Dystopian / Post Apocalyptic Young Adult novel from the author of the bestselling Final Dawn series, combining the page-turning survivalism of the Hunger Games with the desperation of The Road.
I loved this book, gifted an advance copy through TBC, my first TWM Ashford novel, I loved the writing style and immediately became in invested in Lyras plight to find Dawnhaven, such a likeable character I hope there are more books with her in. A definite page turner and I look forward to starting the final Dawn series

I always love a good dystopian book - one that can take me to an alternate world that isn't too unrealistic. This book did that; with the world abandoned by the majority after a solar flare; the radiation from daylight means those remaining can only go outside in the hours of darkness. The protagonist Lyra was living a life of just surviving; and never seeing the world outside the camp.
I won't go into too much detail because of spoilers but the concept was good. Good vs bad but there is a definite blurred line on what is good for humanity/future of the planet/individuals.
I enjoyed the book and now I need to read the Final Dawn series!
I really, really like this author. I have read his Shadows books and thoroughly enjoyed them.
This story about Lyra is good. Unfortunately, American slang has crept in with words such as 'freakin'', 'trailer' and 'super'. Also 'ass'!! This takes away my inner story of it set in England and moves it to America. No teenager that I know uses Americanisms and somehow it takes the shine and magic off just a bit.
But... for all that, I have enjoyed this immensely. It is set after the Arks but links in to the same universe as the Shadows books. There is also a nod to Terry Pratchett, which is excellent. Maybe the author is a fellow Kevin?
What a page turner. For a book following just one person's fight for survival, it sure keeps you on the edge of your seat. Story follows Lyra, 17 year old girl whose life is turned i to survival game when her little commune is attacked and everyone killed. Based in future where sun kills everything with high radiation so life is turned over where you sleep in day time and live at night, Lyra fights against all type of monsters on her journey to find a safe haven. It's quick, brilliant and thoroughly engaging.
I enjoyed the Final Dawn series, and I'm so pleased the author decided to write about those left behind on Earth.
The dystopian world he has created shows perfectly how society would disintegrate without all the comforts we have nowadays.
The story is a roller coaster of emotions throughout, but I didn't want it to end! A fantastic addition to the Final Dawn series, I hope there will be more in the future. Highly recommended!
I did enjoy it, I liked the premise and the fact that the love interest friend was quickly killed off (I despise the romance elements of YA novels)
My only criticism was the use of “freakin” all the time. We don’t say that in the UK, we just swear, just use the proper F word, And there were swear words in the book so I’m not sure why. It felt very American.
I really enjoyed this story. The world the author built, while terrible, was so well done. The characters felt so very real. You could feel the pain, fear and desperation as Lyra flex her home and sought safety. I'll be checking out the authors other works.
