May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic

Rate this book
We want to “change the world.” We want to create #SuperEpic impact to our world.

Kaya hintay lang tayo ng hintay for the right time.

You will read lessons for youth leadership from the lives of superheroes from the Marvel at DC universe.

It’s an exciting time to be a young person: May Powers Ka to be #SuperEpic!

700 Club Asia sent me a free copy of this book. This paperback is intended particularly for young adults and to anyone who wants to be a leader in their field; may it be on school, work or even for those who want to lead an organization. The author tackles his points like he's just talking to you as a friend. He also used superheroes as his examples so readers can easily relate to what he was trying to convey. I highly recommend this to anyone who aspires to be a future leader, especially to our youth today.

May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic is a book that focuses on the today's youth's potential to make an impact in this world by relating these potentials as "powers" to well-known superheroes. This is a recommended book to the youth who are starting or are willing to be leaders in the future or just want to make a difference.

If you love superheroes and you want to be like one, this book is for you. This book will give you principles on how to be a "superhero" in God's way.

It's very clever how the author relates these well-known superheroes such as Spiderman, Cyclops, Batman and others to us as ordinary people na makagawa rin tayo ng impact sa mundong ito katulad nila (sa mundo ng comics). It will teach you how to have a vision, be responsible, how to prepare for action, assembling your team, conflict resolution and more. For a small book, kumpleto ito ng teachings for basic leadership principles at madali pang maintindihan dahil sinulat ito in conversational TagLish (like Lovestruck).

I will rate this books 4 of 5 stars dahil madaling maintindihan at maraming wisdom na mapupulot.

This book is definitely the key to build super natural powers within ourselves. A guide to everyone, mostly the youth, to awaken us from the deep slumber of hopelessness and help us find the kind of super heroes hidden beneath us.

The book cover itself, for me, is very impressive. How simple it is yet compelling. Looking at it, a normal person with a super heroic shadow waiting to be discovered and cultivated. I enjoy the stories and was truly fascinated by the relevance of the end chapter to the next one. It's like the forming questions in my mind already have answers abiding on the next pages.

Living in this world, indeed is a big challenge for each one of us. As normal people, we need the geek abilities of Spiderman, attain the hard working skills like Batman, control the continuous flame of passion without burning out like Human Torch, a laser-focused vision like Cyclops, build committed people to make a powerful team like The Avengers, hold the anger management like The Hulk and have the durability to keep away from the kryptonite that may weaken us being like Superman.

May Powers ka ba to be #SuperEpic is absolutely worth reading for. Every page of it is full of motivational force that will push your mind to think on how to be efficacious in helping making this world a better place to live in. An awe-inspiring work that tackles about true-to-life issues and conveyed spiritual teachings in such an amusing way. This book will surely help you find the super hero in you. Grab a copy now!

very comic, positive, insightful and full of hope!

Basta this is a good book, a must read!

A book worth reading! Ang librong May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic ay simple at direct to the point. Walang paligoy-ligoy. Just right!

True to its title, nailarawan nga ng ating author na si Mighty Rasing na from an ordinary person, kayang-kaya naman pala nating maging super na epic pa. Very doable ang pagiging super epic. Di naman pala natin kailangan maging super hero or gumawa ng something great agad. Kahit sa maliit na mundo nating ginagalawan, kung nasaan man tayo, we can still make a difference.

If you want a book that would help you make the most of your youth, read this. Youth ka man or youth ka noong unang panahon, you can still be #SuperEpic!

Creatively compared our Christian lives to have super powers like that of Super Heroes. So the question now is, do you want to be a super hero?

This book is a great inspiration to our young people.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m generally not the inspirational/self-help book kind of guy. It’s not a knock on them at all - it’s more because I’ve got a black, tiny heart that doesn’t let any light shine through or escape.

There’s no question that a lot of people find them useful. One just needs to look at any bestseller list to see that there’s a healthy audience for these kinds of books; an aspiring inspirational author needs only to find that niche that he can cater to and serve.

Mighty Rasing is one such author, and he’s set his eyes on a key demographic - young people who’ve grown up on a steady diet of comic books and the movies that have been adapted from them. In his new book, May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic, Rasing utilises superheroes and their larger than life personalities to give some life advice to young people looking to make something out of their lives.

But will this approach be something that young people latch on to? Or will this thing just end up being an #epicfail?

At its best, May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic is a competently written book, able to carry its main conceit for the entirety of its 100 pages without being too gimmicky or forcing connections to superheroes that aren’t really there. In fact, some of the examples are a little too on the nose - the chapter on avoiding temptations and weaknesses is, as expected, titled “Iwasan ang Kryptonite.”

Rasing’s shallow knowledge of comic book lore - a lot of it seems to be gleaned from the various movie adaptations that have been made over the past couple of decades - is also an unexpected plus, as it is the lore that most people are more familiar with nowadays anyway. Coupled with his decision to write the book in Taglish (a mixture of Filipino and English), #SuperEpic should have no problem reaching out to as wide an audience as possible.

All that said, I couldn’t help but feel like the book was an incomplete experience. Rather than feel like a complete work unto itself, #SuperEpic feels like a companion piece to something bigger. I can easily picture Rasing conducting a talk and people using this book to follow along.

Another thing I would have wanted was for Rasing to delve even deeper into the superhero lore and maybe win over more hardcore comic book fans in the process. As it is now, it’ll only possibly win over casual fans of the medium, or those already predisposed to reading inspirational/self-help books in the first place.

Even if it doesn’t exactly soar, #SuperEpic at least accomplishes what it sets out to do - make use of superheroes to inspire young people to make something out of their lives. If you’re itching for an inspirational/self-help book with a pop culture twist, #SuperEpic could possibly fill that need.

Fresh from the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) comes a book from a prolific blogger, Mighty Rasing. You may know him as host of the “Happy Yuppie Podcast” (that addresses young professionals) and Family Matters over DZAS. And as you listen or follow him over his social media outlets, you’ll find his wisdom practical and indispensable. So it’s high time for him to release a book.

“May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic” is quirky book that is a cross between the Harris brothers book “Do Hard Things”, a pinch of John Maxwell, biblical principles, pop culture and some geekiness blended in Taglish (Tagalog-English) language. In the midst of it all, it has a vision and a heart of a youth worker that sees Pinoy youth’s that can make an impact to the society.

Reading this book, you’ll it will equip you to know and use your hidden “powers”. Every chapter has this reference over Marvel/DC superheroes (which made the fanboy in me happy). By doing this, Mighty’s book is not just another ‘How-to” book but an accessible and entertaining read. The principles he gave in this book really sticks to the mind and heart of his young and not so young (like me) readers.

“May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic” is a great book that is a must read for every Christian youth. I’ve already shared this book to my young people and I got a lot of positive feedbacks. Get this book if you want to have powers to make a mark in this society.

I was given the opportunity to review the book May Powers Ka to Be #SuperEpic by Mighty Rasing and I was looking forward to what I can learn from it. May Powers Ka to Be #SuperEpic is published by OMF Literature Inc. and is written in conversational Taglish. Mighty Rasing is a blogger, a New Media practitioner and co-host of the award winning radio program Family Matters of 702 DZAS. He is also part of the Philippiine Staff of Young People’s Ministries of the United Methodist Church.

This 104-page small book is filled with practical applications on personal development and how to make a difference for students and young professionals. Mighty encourages the readers to take action and become a difference in their communities by using different super heroes like Spiderman, Batman, Nick Fury, Human Torch, The Hulk and Cyclops as examples and metaphors for certain issues and draws inspiration from Biblical references.

The book encourages the youth to use their information and techology skills and their entreprenuerial mindset to do something for the greater good of everyone. It also takes them on a journey to discover their passions, set their vision and goals, get together with like minded people and resolve conflicts.

May Powers Ka To Be #SuperEpic is all about encouraging and empowering the youth in finding their purpose, passion, and vision as God’s children and eventually making their lives, well, super epic.

It is actually just a short book, some hundred pages long, with the text presented in conversational Taglish, making it easy to read for young Filipinos. What’s nice about this is that the topics are not hard to fathom, especially that Mighty makes analogies or references to DC and Marvel superheroes to explain his topics per chapter.

Bible verses are also incorporated, albeit presented in a way that’s not too preachy or in-your-face. Infusing catholic teachings in lessons in youth leadership and social transformation while speaking in a language that’s current and interesting — this is what makes #SuperEpic a powerful read.
